I’m down to do the forum wide event when the time comes. It may or may not flop but it’s worth a shot.
I should probably look into the tumblr thing like I keep saying I will but I am so forgetful and super lazy at times. Where. Is. The. Motivation? My classes started up and I’m gonna have to check my workload but seeing that it doesn’t look too bad so far, my weekends I can def code something for tumblr if that’s what they need?

Been here since 2014 and I think adoptable species and apprentice games and such are a great way to boost activity! They were my favorite thing back when I was 9 Oh hey! That's pretty cool! I see no reason why those couldn't be started up again. I know adoptable species, but what about apprentice games? I don't think I recognize those.

It might at least be a good idea to see how to set one up and the like. ^^ I wish I could give you some, honestly. //pats Knock on wood, but I think my workload will be less this semester? We'll see. Here's hoping. XD In a different regards, I finally got that ad for the Dragon Age Fan Site. They're a small place, but actually have some cool ideas. They have a twitter page, so it's steadily looking like other ways of advertising is the way to go. If something happens through tumblr I suppose I can finally join or the like. Help promote. My friends have been pestering for ages. As for what they need, I'm not sure. That was the site that had the complicated formatting that you said 'nah' about and I decided to give it a glance to see what they were about. Apparently this Dragon Age site and this other Warriors site have a promotional social media profile which they do small things through or just use for promoting (in the case of this other Warriors site, they use it for promotion of their site and specific things on their site in general (like fics, art, etc.). In the case of Dragon Age, they seem to be using their Twitter for small contests with the fandom at large - in this case I noticed they were doing a raffle of a set of books - and they post various art work pieces and polls and the like). I know very little else of what either do or why it's a good option, but I am relaying what is working for them. (Ye god, the amount of followers on the Dragon Age forum twitter compared to the member count of 530. I am very astonished.) The Dragon Age forums also has a site wide RP event, but that seems to be a bit easier for something they could organize considering. I am still tempted to try and work out a way to do a site wide RP based on a DnD style Warrior Adventure Games but without the very complicated stats. //rubs chin// Another thing I found: rdaf.co.uk/thread/4573/dragon-age-bingo-backThis actually looks fun. o.o They have a pretty good set up for how to do bingo.

Oh my god Sand I am so sorry this got so long. D: I did not mean to subject you through reading this. Partners more so if I was to place any bets. Social media is a shot in the dark. Looking out for partners means you actually get to pick where your shots are fired and it can be very mutually beneficial between the two. Social media is what social media is. That seems like a solid plan. It would probably be a great idea. ^^ So just for a bit of context, here's how the one I am in works, since it doesn't actually involve as much horrifying planning as it looks:
I decide how many points you have to designate between your three ability scores: strength, intelligence, and spirit.
If you are a....
WARRIOR/MED CAT: 10 points
APPRENTICE: 7 points
KIT: 4 points
Also, every WARRIOR/MED CAT will start with 2 knacks. Sorry, apprentices, you start with 0. Both groups will be able to add more as adventures finish, though. Check out the Aging Rules post in #guide-and-rules for more information on that.
To see the full list of knacks and exactly what they do, please refer to #guide-and-rules . (Mint note: AKA, there's a list in the Adventure Game for Warriors and probably very easy to find online or I can retrieve if you've never seen it.)
HP RULES for Player Characters, as it stands now:
WARRIOR/MEDCAT/QUEEN: 30 + strength score; also, add strength score once every 6 moons to that number, until cat is 50 moons old.
APPRENTICE: 20 + strength score; change to WARRIOR HP (above) once your cat becomes a warrior.
KIT: 10 + strength score
@[yourmention]
Cat name:
Clan:
Age:
Gender:
Rank:
Coat/Appearance Description:
Total HP:
Strength:
Intelligence:
Spirit:
SKILLS (this bonus will be added to your score if I ask you to do a corresponding check):
(Strength) Arch/Bite/Climb/Swim/Wrestle/Sprint +x
(Intelligence) Ponder/Pounce/See/Smell/Swat/Heal +x
(Spirit) Focus/Hiss/Jump/Listen/Sneak/Persuade +x
KNACKS:
[Any knacks]
Character Sheet Example:
Cat name: Mintface
Clan: RiverClan
Age: 25 moons
Gender: Genderflux
Rank: Warrior
Coat/Appearance Description: Large, fluffy long furred cat with long white fur apart from a black mask over their face. Ears curl inward with large tufts at the tip. They have green eyes, blind in the left one.
Total HP: 30 + Strength: 1
Strength: 1
Intelligence: 4
Spirit: 5
SKILLS (this bonus will be added to your score if I ask you to do a corresponding check):
(Strength) Arch/Bite/Climb/Swim/Wrestle/Sprint +1 (Matches Strength score) (Intelligence) Ponder/Pounce/See/Smell/Swat/Heal +4 (Matches Intel score) (Spirit) Focus/Hiss/Jump/Listen/Sneak/Persuade +5 (Matches Spirit score)
KNACKS (let the DM know in the game when you want to make use of these):
Alertness: Gain a +2 bonus to any See/Smell/Listen roll.
Pathfinder- Your Cat has a very good sense of direction and almost never gets lost
Everything looks normal in regards to character description, and then HP is added based on how old the cat is. Strength/Intel/Spirit has a score on point distribution. Things like that. It would function very similar to a regular RP, only a cat's health would be based on how they rolled and how well they'd do in a situation would be based on the roll + skill points. Only thing which Discord makes very easy is the ability to roll a dice, which is very tricky to replicate other than possibly using random.org . Honestly policy is harder to uphold though. You got this! Bingo would be really cool. Usually I'm always free to offer traditional art, but that would probably get old fast, and not everyone likes that. Though I do have the ability to make other things, I'm not particularly sure whether that would go one way or another. Also noticed from Secret Santa that a lot of people didn't particularly care for anyone to buy them anything. (I was like "Dragon Age offered books and I totally have 60 copies of Warriors here - oh wait, I doubt anyone but me would actually bite for that one, ha ha") I actually think the ability to collect small badges would be very cool, it's displaying them. Best I could think of without needing coding is a pinned topic somewhere with various people who have won such-and-such event or raffle or bingo or the like and what they have gotten. Which ... I actually had a really good idea for the sort badges that would probably be really cute to collect. Even just generically. Some sort of perk, perhaps? What sort I don't know. Generally there's some sort of ability to see or be a part of X, Y, Z form of planning in a more text based/less buying website. Access to something that previous did not have access. Difficult to do, though I suppose something could always be made - the whole issue was that is there isn't any demand for it. I know for a bingo I do, it gets in-game currency, but ours doesn't actually do anything, even though I am encroaching on a billionaire by this point and could certainly bingo it off. Which I know nothing can be done with the money unless users themselves want to actually create a demand for it. There just isn't a wide enough use of it among the creative bunch for that to be worthwhile. I do remember though when the trophy plug-in first came out everyone was trying to fill in that. So I feel that's a strong way to go. As a supplemental prize? Not sure. I certainly have enough in-game currency on an unrelated site to commission someone for art or writing far better than my own, but that's just me spewing my brainstorming into this chat. Willing to do it, but might not seem practical. However, I think I'm thinking to far into one of two boxes. Most sites have some sort of in game item that can be purchased or something else which gives them an edge or ideal above everyone else. If we're trying to look for something low coding to no coding but still with that same appeal (i.e. something art currently does not have, because people like myself or, say, Sparkscatter, actively offer art anyway and often for free). On the old forums names were often displayed in some fashion (I remember 'active posters' were), on another text based books forums (highly popular) a 'forumer of the week' was displayed for various reasons. That's something that should be aimed for more. People can get most of the items we might have or be able to offer easily. Creating a specific location - a topic which is easy to see or a displayed line of text somewhere or the like - is a bit more notable. Something cutsy or simple to collect (trophy, pin, badge, maybe something along the vain of chibi sprite that was made specifically for them if we're looking for something a bit more unusual) that can be displayed on said topic or line of text like a sort of tally board might also be interesting. Something unique that will not be replicated or used again is another thing that would supply interest (comparison I'm making here is a certain site offers a very specific unique sprite/art piece of something to people of note and that sprite is theirs and it can't go to anyone else). Physical object wise? Honestly I can't think of anything concrete and solid. Literally bingoing off something people offer as a secondary prize would probably be a best bet. Art, lately I've seen not a lot of people are coding so that's in higher demand when it shows up, I suddenly know I need about a dozen banners, but sadly those don't seem to be in as high demand as the coding itself. Er. I literally can commission an artist - it wouldn't even be with money so no worries there. I wasn't actually using the in-game currency and/or rare items because I apparently have them in two different sites. The artist would be more skilled and probably digital artist, so there's that. Uuuuuh. Poll? Asking what people would like to see? Because honestly I'm just one voice and that internal voice just keeps telling me I'll always take art and enter stuff for art. But I have OCs and the inability to draw them fast enough or in color, so I'm me. If there were some other opinions, I think they might have a wider range of interests. I could always as my TPH and/or WFF friend group. Though once again, very keyed to the 'we want art/fan art' voice. Another thing is maybe bingoing off other game options? I don't know how that would work, but it was a thought in my head. Bingo is one game I had totally not thought of. Using it as a way to pick perks in later games or events (i.e. higher chance of winning or maybe a better position or position of choice or maybe just a chance to sit on the sidelines next time but be in on how the ... I don't know ... game of mafia ends). Bleh. Bad idea for execution at this stage, since that would need probably more planning to figure out if it would actually benefit a forumer, but I tried.

so much reading, but it's okay, I've got this. @.@ I like the way the DnD Warriors work, it doesn't sound too complex and tough to figure out from my standpoint at least. I think we could make it work in our own way. Seeing that the trophy plugin has 24 levels, meaning 100% progress and (I think, I may be wrong) it ends after that, we would probably need to create a plugin or find another to make things more warriors-y I guess? I think that sounds okay. Where's our plugin masters at?I like the idea of creating a forumer of the month, giving them a cute little prize of some sort. I can see a way with a different layout how that could be achieved, but I don't know a lot about coding (currently) to put that in. We could always go the simple way of creating a thread and feature them using the announcement and sticky actions. I can't either, honestly. A poll could work, or maybe just like a thread? I know there's others (hopefully) out there that are as creative as you compared to me, where I'm not so near that at all. Yeah, we'd need more execution, something more concrete available to us. I'm not sure how we'd do it fully for like prizes and stuff minus art or coding, but that could be answered via poll or thread like you suggested. This is the reason why I am not made for creativity-- my brain seems to only work logically or not work at all. Plugins I've found (will updated, don't know if these are usable): - Awards System
- Tournament Bracket (reminded me of March Madness)- I still despise PB - Did I mention I don't like PB?

Indeed! It's fairly easy to work out the forms, and the rest is just coming up with small one-off plots to go on at set times. Then at certain places it's 'roll for sight/smell/hearing to see if there are any enemies around' and such. There's nothing too too complex. I think we can work out our own way as well. Streamline it a bit so it works on the forums. (Interesting, I have yet to work out how to get mine to 100%.) As for plugins, I can see how that would make it easier. The first one you have listed was along the lines of what I was thinking of at any rate. The second one is fairly cool for other things, I must say. Truthfully I do not know the tag for our plugin person. XD And I """"pride""""myself in being the person who tags on a dime. Yep! And how I've seen other forums do it, it's never a popularity contest or anything like that. It can be for something that just 'benefits and betters the forums in some way' that seemed to be the general requirement. From my memory, the two or three that I saw happen over the course of a couple months was for a forumer who helped answer questions, one who was super friendly, and then a third who ran a pet topic. Ya mean like, layout layout? Like coding for a topic? Or do you mean like coding a full on page for the forums? Featuring using the announcement and sticky feature would probably work fine, at least in the short run. ^^ I know ( and I just tried to look for it) that there was a cute little announcement bar in one of the Proboards forums I joined a while back, but I can't find it now to work out what it looked like. A thread, probably. Seems like a solid plan to ask what people would like. ^^ Hopefully so! There's gotta be something. I just need to try and stop making my brain work at 2 AM. I started to think of something ... and then my brain decided to fail. Oh gosh I am sorry that we all have to deal with the PB mess. But at least it's something. *pats*

The first plugin seems more likely to work here if we can use it. I might try testing it elsewhere just to see what it does and how it works. Plugin person alternates between Roswell and Felix. I can tell you I'm not one xD.
Do you remember what the forums looked like before they closed down? There was usually like a sidebar that said "Recent Topics" or something? Unfortunately, this PB theme is too wide for that, so it wouldn't work (or so I think.)
Agreed, I'll do that tomorrow or Thursday at the latest.
My brain can only go for so long. I'm more active during the afternoons, evenings, and nights versus daytime. I'm a zombie during the day.
It's okay, we'll somehow survive. Just gotta give myself some false hope for the new version of PB.

Cool! If it works on your elsewhere we should see if it can work here! As I said, I can think of a couple of really cool designs that would be fun to come up with and implement as perhaps prizes. They at least seemed to function well enough on the old forums, so I suppose it's possible to do the same here. ^^
Yep! I remember that! I did look through the plugins and I realized the option I saw was the Forum Marque! Which sadly isn't anything like the 'recent topics', because I know many other users have accredited that with how they found interesting topics on the old forums.
You got sick though. <3 Take your time! I just restarted school, though I have been looking here and there at things. Mostly those previous forums I've found. And Amino, just because I can. There seems to be a fairly large community there as well. I think it might be the art. I remember the old forums also had another side bar with the art display and that was fairly popular to poke around in. I know I did regularly at any rate. Pity that this format isn't very friendly to side bars.
I've got a weird schedule no matter how you look at it. It seems like this semester it's looking to be active in the mornings and evenings and then night around this time.
Don't we all, don't we all. Here's to that new version. Somewhere.

Currently we've been thinking about various activities. Also forum affiliates, which we've been getting a steady stream of. The hope is that we might be able to do a little cross-forums activity at some point to gain a bit of member sharing and caring. Generally just getting the word out that we're here and that we exist. Social media and things like that. ^^ I've been doing some out-reach through some Discords and that's been going good so far. I've been trying to do a major meet-the-community time about every other week or whenever I have a spare moment. Currently, for example, there are three to five pending affiliates I have in my DMs on Discord. I still need to reach out to a plethora of dA groups, but haven't gotten there yet. So things are happening, the results are just a bit hard to judge. I don't have tumblr or Twitter access - and not veeeeeeeeery inclined to get them yet - but a bit of advertisement and the like on there would probably be very helpful. Generally speaking, those are the two things being focused on: Get the word out that we're here and friendly and also keep the members who are here interested and wanting to come back. Hence why we've been brainstorming activities. The finer details would be for Advertisements, Warriors is fairly big in Tumblr and Twitter and thus far there hasn't been much reaching into there. Discord is where I've been attempting to get people from, since it's very large and big as a community, but by noooooooo means have I even managed to look into the half of it. Because it's so self contained, my next goal was to look on Disboard, since people advertise the larger servers there. My attempt will be to get partnerships or advertisements, whichever comes first. But I can neither get everywhere nor do I know about everywhere, so assist from the community is very appreciated. The finer details of Activities is really the means and the ideas to do anything. Contests? Who runs them? What sort of prizes? What other things might be fun? What would people like to do or stay for? How do we run that thing and keep it interesting? Things like that.

It looks like WCC is locked or so it says at the bottom of the page. I'm not sure why it's locked but it won't allow me to create an account and try to affiliate with them. Gonna try WCO and see if they're open to an official affiliation thing. originally I was just posting on a thread but might as well go a step further and see.
I try to poke around but I get distracted easily and forget to do things that should be done. Ooops
