Lionclaw stood beside his mentor and shook out his golden fur, "You think Leafpaw will be okay?" He asked a little worried, peaking his head in he saw she was fast asleep in a tight ball lightly snoring. She was so tiny not much bigger then a kit... Then again he was always bigger then the rest of the cats his age, but even beside Adderpaw she was small and thin, it didnt surprise him when Coldsnap would brag about her speed and agility. (He could meet her while on patrol.)

Cinderrose | Falconwing | camp Finally giving up on finding her apprentice, Cinderrose was about to go rouse her brother when Cedarstar’s voice rang out in the clearing. The she-cat turned to see the tom addressing the clan and asking who could lead some patrols to start the day. Seeing an opportunity, Cinderrose stepped up. “I’ll lead a border patrol,” she declared, her voice clear as she spoke. “Sandlily can accompany me, as well as anyone else who wants to.” She eyed her dozing brother and thought about waking him up if someone else didn’t.

Nettlestep had been settled next to his mate Mosspool gently grooming her beautiful golden brown dappled pelt when he heard Cedarstars announcement and summon for patrols. Stopping he sat up, "I should go join one of the patrols", he murmured softly dipping his head down and giving her cheek a couple of affectionate licks. Part of him really didn't want to leave her, with the loss of his clanmates having her close to him was a great comfort. But Nettlestep had a duty to his clan and he was not about to leave them now, not after the multitude of moons and blood that he had already invested into his beloved clan.
The sun was rising over the mountains and began to warm the creamy white pelt of a wondering she-cat who had fallen asleep tucked into a shallow crevasse. With the gentle touch of the sun Whisp slowly blinked open her icy blue eyes. To her surprise she could see a beautiful valley down below, something she hadn't noticed while traveling under the light of the moon the night before. Intrigued by what the land below held she quickly decided to change her course and explore the uncharted territory. Rising, the wonderer gave her long pelt a thorough cleaning and excitedly began to bound down the mountain unaware of the tragedies that had just occurred in the area.
The voice of Oakstorm speaking to her caught Sandlilys attention and returned his greeting in the same manner. "Sounds good to me", she mewed thankful for the toms company. The two were good friends and having a friend at her side today would make it better. Just then her belly rumbled loud enough to be heard and fully embarrassed her ears quickly laid flat and she looked to Oakstorm awkwardly. "Sorry its been a while since I last ate."

Oakstorm restained himself from laughing not wanting make Sandlily even more embarrassed. "Let's okay. I'm sure alot of cats are feeling hungry just like you." Oakstorm purred rubbing his tail along Sandlily's back, hoping to cheer the she cat up and he's was willing to help a friend out especially at times like this.

It warmed Cedarstars heart when his warriors we re quick to volunteer for the patrols despite the current events. Nodding his head to Cinderrose, "Thank you, gather one more warrior before you take off.... I think I see Nettlestep saying good bye to Mosspool why don't you ask him to join as well. Take a quick look around the base of the mountains to make sure the bear is out of the territory and then proceed to check the other borders. If you do run into the bears DO NOT ENGAGE, observe and report", he instructed his gaze moving from Cinderrose to Oakstorm his son. The last thing the clan leader wanted was to loose his own kit. "Stagbellow why don't you and Lionclaw head to the Shadow Pines and hunt there, I don't think it was hunted in yesterday." Cedarstar himself planned to go hunting around Hare Hill.
Stagbellow nodded to Cedarstar and turned to Liomclaw. "Leafpaw will be fine, the poppy seeds Hazelroot gaze her should keep her asleep till we return. The poor kid needs a good long rest", he meowed deeply as he cast a glance her way before looking back at his former apprentice. "Shall we get going?" He added ready to start the hunt.

"Cedarstar, could you use one more?" Graypelt smiled softly her soft footsteps moving up beside him. She could tell he was troubled, everything thats happened with the clan has no doubt made him worried. She was after all a good hunter that has one of the quietest steps in the clan.

Sandlilys ears rose slightly to Oakstorms response and she blinked her pale yellow-green eyes thankfully at him. "Thank you, and yeah we've all had a long night. I'm just ready to get going so we can hunt on the way", she meowed honestly with a faint giggle. She was though slightly nervous about heading west and making sure that the bear had left that territory, but the pale sandy shecat was not about to admit her fears. Hearing a soft voice beside him, Cedarstar turned to see Greypelt asking to join him and he thankfully dipped his head to her. "Yes, some company would be nice", he responded and then turned to the others. "Stay safe out there, be strong", he meowed strongly and then started for the camps southern entrance. Looking back to Greypelt he waved his fluffy tail at her beckoning her to follow. (Okay have fun guys enjoy your families )

Graypelt nodded following him stopping for a moment lick her brother’s shoulder as a goodbye. Quiet as a scampering mouse she padded to the leader’s side.
Lionclaw smiled at Graypelt and the way she was with her brother, “you two are very different...” Lionclaw watched as the silent shecat left with his leader.

Mothpaw stretched from her tense position. The night had been rough on the apprentice, with every noise being another bear and every attempted dozing leading to memories that left her bolting up in her nest. She'd ended up keeping her own vigil, watching over the apprentice den, too nervous to get any real sleep. Now that the sun was rising and the fallen warriors had been taken away, she shook her tired muscles out and padded cautiously out of the den. Scanning the camp, she quickly made her way to Sandlily, giving a small tail flick to Leafpaw as they passed each other. She quickly joined the group that was forming, pressing her nose against her mentor's flank quietly as she listened to the patrol plans.

Cinderrose | Falconwing , mimikyutie , briarfur | patrol
The pale molly nodded to her leader’s instructions before turning to Sandlily and her apprentice, Mothpaw. “I’ll fetch Nettlestep and then we’ll be on our way,” meowed Cinderrose. In a more serious tone, she continued, “I know we’re all distracted with grief but we need to be as alert as ever on our patrol. Like Cedarstar said, there could still be bears hanging around that area.” With a flick of her tail, the spindly feline trotted over to where Nettlestep lingered and greeted him with a respectful dip of her head. “Care to join a border patrol?” She queried. She was glad Cedarstar suggested the experienced tom, who had mentored her as an apprentice. She still held deep respect for him and knew he’d be useful on a border patrol at the moment.
(is it ok if she was his former apprentice?)

Stagbellow was about to take off when his sister came his way and gave him a sweet goodbye. He managed to give her flank a quick lick in return before she sped silently away after Cedarstar. His taill russet ear angked towards Lionclaw when he spoke as Stagbellow watched his sister leave camp. "Perfectly opposite", he meowed to the young tom in response and his comment couldn't be more accurate. Greypelt and him were not only opposite in appearance but also in personality, she was soft and sweet and Stagbellow... well he was blunt and straightforward. Turing he looked at Lionclaw, "Come on lets get going so we can be back before Leafpaw wakes and so I can speak to Cedarstar when he returns about have her as my apprentice", he meowed and alloowed his long legs to bring him out of the camps eastern entrance at a swift pace. ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ As Whisp made her way down the steep terrain she came along a fairly large stream that cut through the rock and rushed down the moutain. After taking a refreshing drink of its crisp waters she began to follow it as he weaved its way out of the moutains and into the valley below. As the moutains came to an end the stream dropped and cascaded down into a beautiful pool below. Around the pool was rich green plant life and as the creamy white shecat sniffed the air with her pink nose she could also smell the fresh scents of prey. Excited about the prospect of a meal she rushed to find a way down the final steep slope so she could fill her empty belly. Without warning the rocks gave way beneath her paws and she stumbled and fell down the slope twisting her back left leg and fi ally slamming into a boulder at the base of the slope knocking her out cold. 《I feel so bad doing this to my beautiful Whisp 😭 lol but now Lionclaw can find her and she won't run away or try to shred him》 ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ 《Cloverskip can join Cedarstar and Greypelt if you want but he will have to race to catch them as they just left camp. Let me know what you decide so I can respond with Cedarstar right away or wait for Cloverskip to catch up It would be great to have a full hunting patrol》 ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ When Sandlily felt Mothpaw press into her flank she instinctively wrapped her tail around Mothpaws smaller frame like a mother would its kit. The two had quite a close relationship and thoigh at times they butted head, Sandlily had a motherly love for the apprentice. With her apprentice joining her on patrol she inwardly reminded herself to be extra vigilant, not wanting anything to happen to the black and white molly. Sandlily listended to Cinderrose and nodded agreeing with her about being on high alert and watched as she trotted off to get Nettlestep. "Stay at my side at all times", she instructed Mothpaw in a firm tone, a tone that she rarely ever used. But not wanting to scare Mothpaw she lightened up her tone and turned back to Oakstorm. "I bet your happy Nettlestep is coming so your not the only tom in the group", she meowed with a light chuckle. ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤ 《Its more than okay, I love it when my characters have ties to others. I rarely ever object to it lol but Nettlestep is a prickly pear, good luck 😉》 Nettlestep was waiting for Mosspools sweet farewell when his former apprentice Cinderrose approached asking if he would join her border patrol. His sweet demeanor instantly changed to his usual rough self as his olive colored eyes looked intensely to the younger shecat. Though the tough look, he liked Cinderrose for the most part. She had been an excellent apprentice and now was a fine warrior. Heck, in his mind she would make a fine deputy as he had molded her specifically for the position during her apprenticeship. Nettlestep just never liked being interrupted with his beloved Mosspool let alone having to leave her for any period of time, but he knew he was needed and he couldnt refuse. Without saying a word to Cinderrose he looked back at his mate and whispered a sweet little nothing into her ear before turning back to the young warrior. "Lets get on with it then", he meowed impatiently.

Lionclaw nodded and followed his former mentor, keeping pace with the equally large male he was quiet for his size but far from a silent runner like Graypelt. He tried at least but for his size it was neigh impossible to be completely silent. It use to bother him until one day his mentor confronted him and told him to start using his size and to stop being a push over. It was a hard lesson that made him stronger and he is forever grateful to his mentor and to the medicine cat. Once they got to the pines he slowed and bent down his nose close to the ground and his mouth open taking in the scents around him. His ears twitched and his tail moved soundlessly through the air. Mice and squirrels mostly, a few birds like robins and sparrows. He lifted his head and listened closely, the forest has some birds singing high in the canopy far from reach so he blocked them out, he did however hear rustling in the roots of a nearby tree. Bigger than a mouse, it had to be a squirrel. He nodded to his mentor and slowly crouched down, he was suited for the pine ridden forest there wasn't much that could make noise here under his weight.
Graypelt walked in silence with her leader letting him think to himself, she believed if someone had something to say they will say it. Don't rush things. She listened to the surrounding area keeping an eye out for any threats. She was rather surprised when her leader walked past a known mouse tree where they would gather the nuts beneath the massive tree. She dared not go to far from him in his state. There will be plenty of time to hunt after he finishes his train of thought.

Cinderrose | Falconwing , briarfur , Taiyou | patrol
The she-cat was only amused by the old warrior’s response; she had interrupted his time with his mate and obviously he wasn’t pleased by this. She blinked apologetically at Mosspool before thanking Nettlestep and heading back to her patrol. Cinderrose gave the group a once-over before waving her tail, signaling their departure. “Stay close. Don’t even think to wander off alone if you smell something off; tell me and Nettlestep and I will investigate if needed. Oakstorm and Sandlily will stay with Mothpaw. We don’t need to repeat history.” With a final twitch of her ears, Cinderrose slipped out of the camp, making a turn to where their path headed straight to the mountains. To be honest, the molly herself was feeling a tad nervous about going to that area, but knew it’d be better if they knew if anything was wrong in that region. She just hoped her patrol was stay safe under her command.

Mothpaw nodded at her mentor's instructions. She was planning to stay attached to Sandlily's side from the moment they set out to the moment that they returned. She turned her nervous gaze to Cinderrose as she listened to her instructions. She took silent comfort in her mentor's physical closeness. As they all slipped out of camp, she had to pick up the pace to keep in step with Sandlily. Her ears were on a swivel, nose up and mouth open to taste the air for any dangers. Please let everything be okay. She thought.

Oakstorm huff whispering into Sandlily's ear. "I don't know. I rather be around a pretty and kind she cat like you then a grumpy old tom like him." He glanced over at Nettlestep. Oakstorm had respect for Nettlestep like any the cat in the clan but showing much respect for any cat but his father was not his style, he listened to Cinderrose has she told the group instructions already feeling slightly annoyed knowing a lot of cats in the clan would try to take charge probably in hopes of becoming deputy. The dark brown tom followed the group out the camp as they headed for the base of the mountains, taking the back of the group making sure to stay close Sandlily and Mothpaw.

As they stalked into the shadow pines just after going through the shallow crossing Stagbellow was on full alert. Prey seemed to be pretty active closer to the river and when Lionclaw started to talk after something Stagbellow continued on but made sure not to wonder too far from the younger tom. It wasnt long until the strong scent of mice wafted over his scent glands and the russet tom dropped into the hunters crouch, slowly stalking forwards. With the soft spongy nettle covered forest floor the tall toms paws landed on the ground with silence. His target was scurrying from tree trunk to three trunk looking for any traces of leftover crumbs from the squirrels that ate high above them in the canopy. Waiting for the mouse to turn away from him the ruddy tom rushed forwards on silent paws and snagged the plump creature woth his claws. Quickly dispatching it with a nip to the spine he stood back up. Scenting the air once more he realized that the further away from the river they were the less prey there was probably due to the drought. Turning around he headed back towards Lionclaw making sure to remain as light on his paws as possible as to not scare away any prey that the other warrior might be stalking.

Cedarstar had been so deep in thought that he didnt even realize that they had made it to Elk Herd Clearing untill they exited to forested area and out into the open. With the rising sun beating down on his dark tabby pelt the tom finally was pulled from his deep thoughts. Stopping he perked up and looked around, Greypelt was still with him, the sweet she-cat patiently waiting for him. "Im so sorry Greypelt, I became lost in thought... " his words faded away as he faced the silent warrior.

Sandlily kept the pace that Cinderrose set as they traveled northwest towards Eagle Ridge where the bears were last seen. Her tail and left Mothpaws flank but she remained close her her apprentice, so close they pelts were constantly brushing against each other. The pale shecat was on high alert at the continued onwards, set in the back half of the patrol behind Cinderrose and Nettlestep but infront of Oakstorm. Casting her pale yellow green gaze back at the dark brown tabby tom for a quick look, her mind was still thinking about what he whispered into her ear just before they set off. She hadn't responded to him, having been caught off guard with his compliment. Sandlily had no idea that Oakstorm looked at her in that light, and she hadn't even considered looking at him in that way untill now. Of course he was handsome, and the clan leaders son but Sandlily had always seen him as just her best friend. Giving her head a quick shake she tried to clear her head. Thinking about the sweet handsome tom was starting to cloud her mind and that was the last thing she needed to have while traveling through the land where a killer bear had been.

Cinderrose | Falconwing , Taiyou , briarfur | patrol
Keeping her senses alert, the molly kept quiet as she continued to head northwest, occasionally checking behind her to make sure her patrol wasn’t trailing behind. She wasn’t concerned that they would be needing any help; they were a very capable group of cats; but with the threat of predators on her mind made her more cautious than normal. She was even beginning to annoy herself with how worrisome she was behaving; it wasn’t like her.
The trees opened to their desired destination some moments later, giving way to a vast valley that soon met with the base of a mountain. Cinderrose could stop and marvel at the sight but knew she had a job to do, so she turned and addressed her patrol once more. “I say we should start right at the base of the mountain, if that’s fine by the rest of you.” Normally, she wouldn’t care if someone had better ideas, but didn’t feel like stepping on anybody’s (especially Nettlestep’s) toes.

The body slam against the boulder had knocked Whisp out so hard that she remained in her unconscious state. At that moment in time she was nothing... there was nothing, not even a black abyss for her mind to float through as she waited for her body to reawaken. Blood was slowly coming from her ears and nose and if she were awake Whisp would also have the metallic taste of blood in her mouth. Her breathing was short and shallow but as time pressed on it ever so slowly began to even out into slow long breaths. Was this how it was going to end for Whisp the Wonderer?
¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤
Reaching the mountian base Nettlestep drew in slow deep breaths over his scent glands searching for even the slightest hint of danger. So far there was nothing but the stale scent of bear and the occasional bird and mouse. Every creature seemed to have steered clear of the area, and probably would continue to do so until the scent was washed or faded from the earth. Standing close to Cinderrose he nodded agreeing with her decision and began to scout out the area making sure to stay close to the group just incase he was needed. For Nettlestep, he didnt mind the you her warrior taking charge. It meant that he had less to worry about and ontop of that he trusted Cinderrose's judgment.
