"And guilty I may be, but don't give up on me... We will still be thick as thieves."

"Alright, and for you?" Carrie asked, looking at Drake.
"I'll take a regular coffee, extra cream, and we'll have a plate of fries to share," Drake told her. Might as well have something to nibble on while they talked.
Taking down the order, Carrie nodded. "I'll bring those out to you in just a minute," she said, smiling and heading towards the kitchen.
As she left, Drake looked back to Jace. "So, tell me about these new stories you've been working on?"

"Oh, well, there's one in the works, it's a surprise. Some of my recent stories are "The Spider Queen" and "Reasoning"." She chuckled nervously. "I write about spiders far too often. i just find them relatable. Just a few spooky faces, as helpful as they may be to the environment..." She stared at the table, a new light in her eyes.

"Yeah, that's the one. I'd tell you how I did it, but I don't want to scare you away." Jace smiled faintly at her own joke. She then shrugged. "Spiders are pretty well-known as the villains in some folklore, yes. I want to change that." She clasped her hands. "Make spiders out to be the heroes that they are."

Jace smiled faintly. "It's about a girl who found out her soulmate was a spider. However, her arachnophobia got the best of her, and she slowly descended into madness. The spider tried to reason with her, but it didn't work for a while, until she was on the verge of death." She shrugged. "It's a little dark."

"It would, but I really only work alone because I'm forced to." She shrugged again. "Not that I mind, of course." she added quickly. "It's much easier than having to explain to another person and risk having them change things."

"I don't. I let them interpret it how they want. That's the fun of it. People get to tell the story how they wish." Jace folded her hands on the table. "It's called interpretive dance for a reason." It was a joke, of course.

"Yeah, actually. There's one person who saw a grasshopper rather than a spider. it's always interesting to hear people's thoughts." Jace sipped her mocha, smiling faintly and tapping her fingers on the side of the cup.

"True." Jace grinned. "Opinions are a huge part of the world. It's how people get together, or how they split up. It's how parents keep a child, or abandon it." She was reading to far into it.

Jace shrugged. "Maybe. It's a small world." was all she said. She continued to sip her mocha. She hadn't even touched the fries.

"It's great!" Jace perked up. "I love this place." She grinned before lightly chewing on her straw. "It's better than the coffee we have, that's for sure!" She giggled lightly.

"As long as you promise to visit the circus whenever it's in town." Jace decided to compromise. She didn't want to lose contact with Drake like she had with all the other 'friends' she'd had. She tapped her fingers lightly on the table, anxious for the other's answer.

Jace giggled and nodded. "There's always a new story. This can give you a chance to be able to guess which are fiction and which are not." She then took another sip of her mocha.

Jace giggled a little. "Oh, stop it. That one was made up. Unless the Queen of England was once a spider." She shrugged. "You never know."

Jace folded her hands. "Knock yourself out." She rested her chin on her hands, taking the pose that generally ressembled a stereotypical mentor to the protagonist pose.

"Yeah, but it's a surprise, so." Jace smirked. "You'll have to pay close attention." She unfolded her hands and snatched a fry. "Yoink." She then paused. "I don't know why I said that."

"Hmmmm... Alright, fine. It's called "Freak Show". Like that song by Set It Off. And Skillet. And basically every other rock band in existence." Jace hummed. "I mean, it's mostly like the one by Set It Off, but-"
