Okay Iβm putting something up but itβs short
Also, everyone, Iβm saying he found most of his friends in case any of you wanted your charries to make your own way to school. Itβs perfectly likely that Josh wouldnβt grab all of them on his way to school)

It was a little after 7AM when Joshua arrived at the dining hall. The redhead had managed to find most of his friends, apart from Micah, on the way to school that morning. That was okay, he trusted that Micah would be there when he and the rest of the group got to the hall; after all, Micah could take care of himself and this was a tradition among the group. Theyβd always met for breakfast before school, and those breakfasts were especially important now that their classes were mostly different now and so they didnβt see each other nearly as often during the school day.
Josh led the way to their usual table along with the rest of the group, and he took a seat next to Micah as the others sat down. The teenager tried to ignore the empty seat at their table which would normally be filled by Levi. The life and soul of the group, and that was saying something since their friends group had some fairly lively members. Josh wasnβt considered among them, unsurprisingly.
βHey,β Josh greeted Micah as he sat. βdidnβt see you on the way in today.β
He wouldβve asked how Micah was, but it was a pretty redundant question. None of them were okay, not in the slightest, and asking only drew attention to that fact. What would be the point in doing that?
It was very quiet at the table that morning, which was once again to be expected, but Josh struggled to know what to do. He wanted to say something but he really didnβt know what. Everyone was just upset and angry and the funeral was tomorrow. What was there to say? Plus it wasnβt like there was anything they could do about this whole situation anyway. Not constructively.
Still, he cared way more for his friends than he tended to let on, and their pain hurt him just as badly. And the fact that he could do nothing about it hurt more. He missed Levi, was worried sick about him as he still wondered if he was alive somewhere.
Such things were hard to think about. But it was even harder to think Levi might be dead. They all knew the funeral was tomorrow. They just didnβt want to talk about it.
βI suppose one of us should be the one to bring it up,β Josh said after a moment of silence βbut howβs everyone feeling about the funeral tomorrow? I know itβs a stupid question, but I thought Iβd better ask it anyway.β

Skye got to the school, taking a deep breath. She certainly took a longer way. Had to climb some, because once you hit a dead end and a wall, of course the only way to get out had to be climbing it.
Instead of turning back.
She waited in the dining hall, at their table, saving it like she tended to at times. She waited for Josh, and barely acknowledged his arrival.
And right on time, it was Micah too. Honestly, Skye was always sarcastic, and gave funny comments or deadpan ones. But she was just silent.
She had been now for about 2 weeks, since their friend went missing. Her only words tended to be of comfort at minor times.
She scowled deeper, her head was buzzing, garbled messes and voices stirring in her mind. Like static, but every voice was familiar, undetectable and way too hard to understand.
Josh spoke, and some of it faded as she forced herself to focus. "He's not dead, they shouldn't be having that damn funeral." She grumbled, rubbing her temples. She never gad this issue before, but it must have been from fatigue.

Micah "Final inspections on the ship," Micah answered tersely, not bothering to look up from his food. "I get my pilot's license next week." He took a bite of the oatmeal which had since turned cold in the time that he had been sitting at the round table. Throughout the past months, Micah had been informing the group extensively of the modifications and touches that he and Levi had made upon the vessel. Normally, his tone towards such a subject would be ecstatic and elated. Normally.
Joshua's question was comparable to a knife twisting itself into his gut. He didn't speak, remaining completely emotionless apart from the sullen expression that had refused to go away in the past weeks. Skye's outburst was surprising, yet completely relatable. They had found no evidence of a death, no evidence of a departure, and no motive toward... anything.
Apparently, no one had seen Levi the day before his disappearance except his family. He had skipped school on account of being incredibly sick. Whatever it may be, Micah smelled fish. No one, no one, could've completely vanished on a station that was this heavily monitored.
No one.
And Micah was willing to bet that there were people who knew more about this 'sudden disappearance'. He grimaced, closing his eyes as thoughts about the funeral appeared. He could almost see the empty coffin... The flowers and framed memories. He could almost hear the Captain's sorrowful voice as he spoke the eulogy.
"You're right," Micah said, purposefully interrupting his own thoughts about tomorrow. "He's... he's out there somewhere. I can feel it."

Josh had nodded in response to Micahβs original words. He knew that was something he had been working on for a long time, with Leviβs help.
βThatβs great,β the boy had responded, but he said nothing more, purely because he knew that was Micahβs and Leviβs thing and he didnβt want to pry into that or make the whole thing upsetting by talking about it.
Skyeβs outburst was not unexpected, certainly, and neither (really) was Micahβs response, despite his being quieter than Skye.
Josh thought about how he wanted to respond, biting his lip.
βWell, we donβt know what really happened to Levi,β Josh said, βbut this funeral is definitely too soon, they hardly even looked. There is something very fishy about this whole thing. We might now know for sure whether Levi is alive or not but one thing we do know is that people donβt just vanish.β
He didnβt want to say whether or not he thought Levi was alive because he didnβt like to say things if he didnβt know (or at least have good reason to believe) that they were true. While he had no reason to believe he was dead, he couldnβt say he was alive either. As awful as that sounded.
βItβs like weβre the only ones who actually care,β he murmured after a moment

Skye found herself just poking at her plate, before forcing herself to eat a small bite. It felt like eating chalk, in her opinion.
She nodded at Micah, she enjoyed that he was still able to give them updates. But that was all, glaring at her plate again.
She glared up at Josh, but forced herself to turn it into a look of acknowledging, he was right. They didn't know. "I just can't believe they didn't care enough to truly investigate. And no one saw him other than his family? I just don't believe that, everyone knew Levi," she winced at her own usage of the past tense, "He couldn't have vanished without a trace."
She then sighed, "But if he was dead, they surely would have seen a body, if he's out there, I know he can handle himself, he has been helping Micah after all." She added on, cyan eyes narrowed at her friends. "Regardless, he deserves to be found, even if it's his body."
She went back to eating slowly. Her right wrist was wrapped around by a string and small weight, an item she typically wore for self defense. Her training in it had been going well, as had her lessons in nee technology. She was helping on a project for updated holograms and biological mappings. She tended not to give too many updates though, she worked on many projects, usually some with personal interests. She once built a set or communicators with Micah to give to the group when they were younger.
She waa still stubborn, and everything about the project Levi and Micah worked on was a bit confusing to her. She liked working with personal things, tinier sizes and such.
(I can change anything, I just threw that part in for fun.)

Micah Even if itβs his body.
Micah grimaced, refusing to believe that Levi could be dead. Refusing to believe what was so possibly true. Various search parties had been sent out during the first few days of his disappearance, but they had all abruptly stopped after the quarantine.
βYeah,β Micah said simply in agreement. He wanted more to happen in terms of an actual investigation, but all of the officials had called off everything beyond the fourth day. There wasnβt much any of the kids could do besides wait, and Micah had tried - to no avail - to bypass the quarantine in order to search for Levi on his own.
Even if itβs his body. The words had stuck with Micah, echoing malevolently throughout his foggy mind.
Micah had thought a lot about this, actually. The day before Levi was reported missing, the OASISβ orbit was strikingly close to Titan. The station had been performing a close-approach in order to stock up on supplies from the biodomes of Saturnβs largest satellite. If anything, it seemed that this wouldβve been the first place to look.

[ Yeah, I'm thinking some advanced calculus at the lower levels of high-school maybe(kids are just getting smarter and smarter these days). Astronomy is a must... maybe an extended physical education class because of the lower gravity on the station? I don't want it to be super noticeably low, but maybe like 80-90% of earth's. ]
I'm thinking that the station would be designed in various interconnected rings that all rotate around a central hub?(that way the centripetal forces of the circular motion of the rings would imitate gravity. ]]
Meh... I'm also thinking of pulling an 'Orson Scott' card and saying that humans have learned how to control gravity using ScIeNcE ]]]

Post by Sparky on Jun 11, 2019 22:16:32 GMT -5
[ yeah I think I might do that in terms of the station design, yet I also want the square to be in the middle of the station so like XP would that work.?.? ]
and seeing as the station is rather large(and a=v^2/r), the velocity at which the station is revolving would have to be.. huge. Like, not feasible almost. ]]
okay, just checked and actually it might be possible if we just pretend that the technology in 1000 years is gonna be wacko crazy advanced. Tangential speeds would have to be around 200mph to sustain an acceleration of 9.8m/s for a station radius of a pretty good size. Also, if the simulated gravity were like 80-90% of 9.8 then that means increasing the radius without having to increase the velocity hehe ]]]
and I want an excuse for those p.e. classes. ]]]]

(It could...work.
Yeah, I see the technology of the future becoming much more advanced. I wouldnβt be surprised to see Telekenesis done through magnetic control and simulated nerve pulses connected to certain stimuli of the brain, much like paralysis victims and causing movement of their joints with nervous pulse waves.
So I could see increased technology to simulate plant growth in zero gravity(or simulated gravity) and for stability.)
