Macaria Slayte The innocent flower and the serpent under it Macaria Slayte was dressed in a pretty white lace dress, the colour contrasting with the light olive of her skin. Her hair, which was a dark brown with golden and caramel tones, was in a bun, a colourful scarf tied into it. Her eyes, which were a mossy green around the outside and a deep amber brown around the pupil due to central heterochromia, had some shimmery pink eyeshadow. She had nude lipstick on her lips.
It was the day of her final reaping, and she was hoping she would finally be chosen. She had been waiting for absolutely years for these Games, she had been training for her whole life to be able to have a chance at these Games. Why should the first eighteen years of her life go to waste? And she knew she had every chance of winning the Games. She was excellent in training, she was incredibly well-trained in knives, which was the best weapon in the Games. It was the most widely available and the most versatile. She was able to work in teams with others and would be comfortable in the Career pack. She was good-looking and could easily charm the Capitol and get them on her side. She was ruthless and unafraid to do anything she may have to do to win.
She didn't have siblings or family to worry about, she'd pretty much raised herself and survived on her own, with the help of the odd friend and their families here and there. She didn't have any ties here in District 2, she didn't have the weakness of family at home to hold her back.
She gave let them prick her finger as she had done every year without even a reaction, before heading to the area she had to wait in for her reaping. It only took a few minutes of pointless talking from the Capitol representative before they finally headed over to choose the tributes for the district, stopping in front of the glass ball containing the names of all of the females.
There were a few tense moments, where Macaria's heart seemed to thud in her chest, before finally...
"Macaria Slayte."
She took a sharp intake of breath, not believing her luck. She hadn't expected to actually ever get the honour of being chosen for the Games. But as the crowd parted, she made sure to hide her pleasure and surprise by arranging her face into the one that she had seen on so many other tributes. Slight numbness and shock, innocence, but also with a layer of quiet determination. An underlying confidence that she had a chance. She didn't want any of the other tributes who happened to see her reaping to see her as a threat instantly. She was already enough on the radar of the other tributes by the very nature of being a Career. She had no intention of making herself stand out any further at this stage. She had to be in total control of how other tributes saw her, and how the Capitol saw her.
But she walked up onto the stage, giving a slightly bewildered smile to the Capitol representative, as if she couldn't believe what was happening. With that little interaction done, it was now time for her district partner to be chosen, and so she watched, waiting for a name to be called.
Here is her outfit for those who are interested

[This was short but Macaria doesn't have family I can talk about or anything so...
Also, has anybody thought about any relationships they want their characters to have with mine? Friendships/romance/alliances/enemies? I am gonna take a look and see who they might get on with/hate as well.
Also if anyone wants their characters to kill any of mine]

(Hello :3.

Um, like we talked about, Burton and Holly could be allies and friends :3.
Other than that, I think I’m good on that? I could totally see Macaria killing Carlo in the bloodbath :3.)

Ah, yes we did and I can see totally see that. Which would be good. I can get a reply up for Burton or we can skip to the train or something and then that way we're not getting ahead of anything but we can have them chat and stuff.
Ooh I can do that. If you want one of yours can kill Astrape at the bloodbath]

And then I thought, “Wait she’s acting innocent” and you know that was really smart on your part :3.)

Haha yeah I don’t want her to seem too eager or too dangerous yet XD Thanks though. She was pretty much just biding her time wanting to get picked because she has her own strategy for the Games at this point. Okay cool that sounds good - you don’t have to, whatever works for you Omg no no way, I love the idea of him being friends and allies with Holly I think they work really well together I will maybe get something up for them two tonight or else tomorrow morning)

(XD. The sad thing is, though, is she’s going to go in eventually with “Well, I’ll eventually die in the games but I got to keep going to make sure he survives” but pretends the whole time she’s actually trying.
Burton in near death experience again.
Holly: If you die I’m going to kill you.
Burton: ...Wait.)

Burton: Di you know how death works?
or
Burton: Well that’s the Games solved then if we die we just kill the others as ghosts
Btw I’m writing a thing for Burton now for the train)

Burton Acton And either victory, or else a grave
Burton was still a little shaken up after a rather emotional farewell with his sisters and his parents. He’d also spork to a lot of his friends from school, who were devastated that he was going, but it as his conversation with them that really broke his heart. Still, they’d said their goodbyes and they knew what he wanted should he not survive the Games. At least that was something.
He tried not to think about it, just like he’d done with their crying at the reaping, and made sure there were no signs that he’d shed any tears before he boarded the train.
The boy was directed to the District 8 compartment, where the girl - Holly - was already waiting. He took a seat opposite her.
“So, uh, I guess I should introduce myself properly?” Burton said “I don’t like that the last time someone said my name it was in that stupid Capitol accent, so I gotta fix that by saying it now. I’m Burton.”
He let Holly respond before he continued.
“You intrigue me, Holly, you’ve got guts. It’s very rare to see someone smart enough with the brains to see the problem and brave enough to speak out.”
There was another pause, as he looked out of the window; the train had lurched to life and he took a moment to see the landscape begin to move as they started on their journey.
“Well, we’re on a one-way trip to the Capitol to fight to the death for a return ticket. This whole thing is stupid, literally kids are about to get dressed up in pretty outfits and paraded around just so the sadistic Capitol can watch them die.”

- - - - - Holly AlandriaHolly had sat down the prior day, waiting for visitors she knew wouldn’t come. She hoped Burton, if she remembered his name correctly, had some though. But she was happier with that, she wouldn’t be missed if she died that way. She wouldn’t even be spared a thought, and yet that was more comforting than having the false hope of being cared for. However, she still wished her father would have visited her, but that was hopeless. He hadn’t seen her since the day after her mother had passed.
She was sitting now, humming softly to herself. Her voice wasn’t bad, not perfect, but not bad, and it often helped soothe her woes. She stopped, however, when she heard footsteps. She glanced away from the window she watched, to glance at the visitor.
When he sat sat across from her, and spoke, she nodded. “My name’s Julie Rose Almadra Sorena Beatrice.” She said, turning to him, the joke was dull, plain and silly. “But I guess you can call me Holly.”
She raised her eyebrows at him. She really wanted to hate his guts, he was supposed to be another enemy, but he seemed to be a good person. She laughed softly, at his comment too.
”I barely call my little stunt as ‘speaking out’, but I’m glad it humored you,” she responded back, “Doesn’t do much when we’re off to the slaughterhouse, does it?”
As she waited, listening, she nodded. “Yeah, maybe we could convince everyone to not participate and make a colony of tributes living in the arena instead of fighting,” she laughed at the silly idea, unrealistic due to the careers and the others. “Oh, but maybe the damn capital would get mad at that, stomp their feet and cry. Kill us all in retaliation?”
She went silent, turning to him with wide eyes, as if shocked, her voice imitated a capital accent, “Oh dear! What’s this? Someone badmouthing the Capital?”
