(Ahhh Sparky I’m sorry you didn’t make finals. Sending virtual hugs. You still did so well to get to where you did!
Okay so I felt like doing some writing so I’m writing something for Lacey, kind of as a tease for the revolution/victors’ kids idea. Even though we haven’t even started the Games for this one yet XD
Anyway I am happy to rp Lacey in the next one but if anyone else would like to have her as a character all you have to do is ask and I’ll be happy to let someone else rp her
I also haven’t specified an age for her because I can change the year she was born quite easily and I don’t know if we’re only going for victors’ kids/relatives who are within the 12-18 age range. I also made nieces and nephews eligible just for ease in terms of reapings and stuff but we don’t have to do that.)

It was the year of the 125th Hunger Games, and Lacey Acton stood in the square of District 8, with a pitifully small group of girls around her, and the same for the boys on the other side.
As a reminder that the fates of one generation impact the next, the tributes for the 5th Quarter Quell will be drawn from the direct descendants and nieces and nephews of previous victors.
Lacey had fallen squarely into that category, since her father was a victor. She remembered the first time she had seen a clip of his Games on the television, watching as he had to leave the room when the clips began to play. Or even clips from later Games where she saw him speaking as the Games host. His past was too painful for him, both his memories during the Games and the memory of who he had become after. Lacey hadn’t been told her father’s whole story until relatively recently. It would have been too much for her to understand everything he had gone through. She knew he still had nightmares, but only very rarely. He’d wake up screaming in he middle of the night.
But now Lacey fixed her gaze on the stage, watching as the Capitol escort headed over to pick the name for the girls. Her hand delved into the bowl, which contained only maybe a dozen pieces of paper, before finally selecting a name.
“Lacey Acton,” the Capitol accent rang clearly around the square, which was filled with a dead silence
Lacey had kind of expected this, since the odds were high that year that she’d be selected. Her father had told her that the had a good chance of being chosen, and he had told her to prepare herself for that eventuality. And he had told her to not play by the Capitol’s rules. To win the love of the Capitol but to defy them when possible. Lacey listened to her father; Burton was full of all kinds of advice like that.
And so she stepped forward calmly, walking up onto the stage and looking out into the distance, not looking at the cameras or even the crowd. She needed to act like this whole thing is below her. She wasn’t going to take this lying down.
And she would make her father proud.
——————
After his daughter’s reaping Burton had been devastated, his heart had sank and he had stood in stunned silence, holding his sobbing wife who was so afraid of losing their baby, their only child. But then he had received a message from the Capitol, given to him by one of the peacekeepers. His presence was requested to host the Games and possibly mentor his daughter and her district partner. He knew the victor related to that boy, and they had begged Burton to keep an eye on him too. He had agreed.
Now he could have been furious, he could have screamed and broken things and refused to go. But there wasn’t any point in that. If the Capitol wanted him there then that was where he had to go. And most importantly he could go and help Lacey. She needed someone there who knew her, someone who could play up her good qualities in interview and who could train her well for the Arena. He knew her better than anyone else. And he knew a lot of the victors would be mentoring their own family that year, they had probably been called too. He would never deny Lacey an advantage the others had.
And that was how he found himself back in the Capitol. He hadn’t been here in over twenty years, and yet the memories were still strong. He had to forget them though, get his head in the game for Lacey. He would have to talk her through the Games and coach her through this whole thing, and he couldn’t do that if his own problems got in the way.
He sat on a chair on a darkened stage, with a big screen behind him with the Panem seal and the words ‘5th Quarter Quell’ glowing on it. A voice came over the speakers.
“Ladies and gentlemen of the Capitol, you thought he had left the spotlight for good , but he’s back for one Games only.”
A spotlight above suddenly illuminated his face, the signs of age on the fifty-two year old only slightly showing through the Capitol makeup. They hadn’t dyed his hair to cover up the greys now showing through, though. Still, he was sure he largely looked as the Capitol remembered him.
He gave the cameras a smile as the audience began to cheer.
“Hello, darlings,”
The lights lifted, revealing the interview set up, an empty chair sitting opposite him.
He watched as the Capitol audience cheered even more at his words. Their memories were short, and his crimes against the Capitol had been neatly covered up. They still loved him as much as ever.
He hated that he had to do this, play Capitol puppet and be Catullus Acton again. He had a family now, his wife would be watching this. Wouldn’t this side of him disgust her? But he did it all to protect Lacey, and he was sure Paige knew that. He would never have set foot in the Capitol again, he would have defied them for the rest of his life. But now he had something to lose and Mallory Libelle had been fighting the Capitol from the inside. There were murmurings of rebellion.
Perhaps he would use this chance, if he could do so and also keep his family safe, to help fan the flames.

[ thanks, sempy! Honestly I'm just more motivated if anything so that I can actually make it to nationals next season ]
Ooh I can't wait for the 5th quarter quell. I suppose that'll be when the rebellion occurs? Cause if so we can have multiple charries survive ]]

Well that’s good! I’m sure you will make it to nationals next time
yup I think the idea for the next one was for the rebellion to happen during the next quarter quell so for sure multiple can survive. I haven’t decided whether to make Lacey one of them or not.)

Because the chances are higher and such.)

(Oh we got another chance to make siblings though. Because the chances are higher and such.) Yeah that is very true there would be more likely to be sibling pairings or even cousins if nieces and nephews are permitted I’d be fine for any of the characters I make for that to have siblings)

(I totally want to make a sibling for someone again, or a cousin, some relation lol.
Hey Sparky fam, I haven’t done this with you yet.
And you too Pallas, I’ve done it with you but I’m always up to doing it again if all else fails.
Actually I’d be fine with making a relation to anyone.)

(Yaaaaas all the sibling/cousin pairings
There should be two cousins whose different sides of the family don’t really get on so they don’t like each other. And then maybe from there they could become friends XD
I love siblings pairings so I can’t wait to see what people come up with)

(Oof.)
(This one though would be rather sad, cuz most of these kids would grow up in the victors village with their families, and so probably know each other rather well.
It would get heartbreaking, fast. Especially with the elevated chance of siblings, cousins, and that such. Because, I mean, let’s face it, not all victors are going to have kids, the ones that do...
Well, let’s say their kids won’t always have kids themselves, so the number of kids there would actually be?
At most, like, a dozen or so for a District? The chances go way up.
haha 12 just doesn’t have any tributes, book joke, book joke.)

[Yeah it would be really sad. Especially because a lot of the victors know one another as well and so the tributes might actually know one another via their parents, especially the career tributes.
Yeah the tribute numbers would be pretty low, of course, it goes up a little with the nieces and nephews included but there really aren't many. And yeah, there'd be a disproportionate tribute pool in the career districts compared to 12.

(Twins haves it’s perks because they would look similar(or maybe not) and could be just really weird and the same age.
But siblings is also fun, and has perks like being different ages and harassment of the younger sibling in joking ways.)

This plan has no downside XD we can flip a coin I guess
I’m guessing since one of them drinks we’re either going underage drinking or we’re assuming these tributes can be over 18 XD)

(Doesn’t have to be drunk, that was a shitposty suggestion XD.
I was thinking if twins, probably like 16-18?
If her siblings, one can be like younger, and the other can be older, but they give like no crap about how good off the other is because they know they’d can both take ass and kick names(haha get the reference?)

[I know but it would be so fun XD If they were older I would so make one of them drink. Just because Haymitch says some of the best and most Haymitch stuff when he's drunk. Imagine in the middle of the games the one who drinks misses the alcohol and starts asking the sponsors if they'll send some drink XD
Yeah 16-18 works for twins and for siblings one can always be 16 and the other 18 I guess, or we can give a slightly bigger age gap idk
Hehe Infinity War]

(Oh that would be funny.
Though I don’t remember a legal drinking age for the Hunger Games, maybe I missed it but I thought Katniss drank wine before her first games, then again, I could be wrong.)
(Honestly I’d love to do either it would be hilarious. But it would get depressing if one died in the games and one ended up surviving omg.)

[True, true. I mean they don't have to drink we could encapsulate that side of Haymitch just as well by having them have the same defensive walls of sarcasm as Haymitch had.
I could imagine the one of them having the whole sarcastic side and the other being chill and having the more easygoing humour. And both of them would be deceptively smart I would say.
Oh my gosh it'd be so sad]
