(My accent is like a cross between southern, yankee and cowboy. Like, when I talk on the phone it gets really southern, but I pronounce certain words in ways that no other southern does like instead of "both" I say "bowlth" or instead of "eggs" I say it like "aiggs". I also cannot pronounce the phrase "toy boat". It comes out as "twee butt" and theres nothing I can do about it)

He could tell this was actually hard for her, that she was worried about her cat. Burton couldn't have that. He wouldn't have Holly upset, not least right before the Games. He wanted her to feel secure in the knowledge that her pet would be cared for just like he was secure in the knowledge that his sisters would be alright were he to die.
At her words about him helping her with her interview in return for her helping him with training and strategy, Burton smiled.
"Well, that seems a little bit one-sided," he admitted jokingly "all I have to do for you to basically teach me how to...do the Hunger Games is to impart some of my Burton charm on you?"
But he held out his hand for her to shake.
"You, my cat-loving, katana-wielding friend, have a deal," he said with a chuckle
When she said it would be better for them to work together, he nodded.
"I'm with you on that one, it'd be horrible to be in there and literally everyone is hostile. It'll be nice to go in there knowing someone's on my side."

"Well, if you're planning on fighting defensively invisibility could be really helpful to you, provided you find a good source of supplies. If you don't have supplies you need the Capitol to remember you because you'll be relying on sponsors. So basically...if I were you and I was planning on a defensive strategy, I'd go with invisibility and hope for the best in terms of supplies. Maybe even grab something at the bloodbath to tide me over"
"You know what, that would not be a terrible way to spend time," she said "though we should maybe also come out to train."
When he joked about employing the fat strategy, Amadrya chuckled.
"Well, both of us might be dead in a few weeks, and this food is amazing so, the way I see it we might as well eat up."
She paused to eat some more of the broth she'd gotten before, then looked at Ari.
"So, how're you feeling, kid?"
She could call him kid, he was a whole two years younger than her, and at this point, it didn't matter anymore. They were all kids here. She was an adult but only barely. |

She was wearing a dark green dress with silver patterning, and it went to about her knees in length, with a full skirt. The colour contrasted with her red hair, which was in a braid crown, a few wispy locks left as framing pieces. Her eyes were lined with black eyeliner and then sparkly green eyeliner around it, and her lips were a brownish nude. She had never worn makeup before. Overall, she looked... innocent and young, which made sense since she was tied for youngest tribute in the Games with the boy from District 6. But there was also...a spark to the bright green of the eyeliner. Suggesting that there was an energy there, like lightning or the power for which her district was known.
She walked out and took her seat with the interviewer, giving a single shy wave to the crowd as she walked across.
"Astrape, welcome! How are you finding it here in the Capitol?"
"Honestly?" she asked "a little overwhelming. It's great here, and I like it. It's like nothing I've ever seen. But it's a lot, I suppose. Everything about the Capitol is more intense."
Her words were a little quiet and shaky, giving away her nerves at speaking in front of crowds, but the interviewer didn't comment on it.
"Did you leave anyone behind at home?"
"My parents, and a few friends from school."
"Did your parents say anything to you when you talked to them after the reaping."
"That they will watch every moment, and that they want me to try my best. I can't promise victory, because none of us tributes can, but promising that I'll try is one thing I can do."
"And what's your plan for in the Arena?"
"Find the basics to keep me alive, stock up on supplies and take it from there. I'd like to hide and fight defensively but that depends on what happens."
"Do you have any skills to help you in the Games?"
"Well, I'm fast, I'm stealthy, I'm agile. If they can't catch me, they can't kill me."
"Who would you say is your biggest threat in the Arena?"
"Well, the other tributes are probably the least of my worries. There's the Arena and its landscape, the Gamemakers, supplies. But probably the tributes from 1, 2 and 4."
"What do you think of the Games?"
"Well, it's easy to forget what the Games do for us. They remind us exactly what kind of society we live in, how we got to where we are today. And I think that's so important because wouldn't we be ungrateful and complacent otherwise?"
There was a dual meaning to those words. The version the Capitol would want to see, where the Games remind the districts of how grateful they should be and how they own everything to the Capitol. And the version Astrape truly meant; that the Games remind the districts of what the Capitol takes from them, and how ruthless it is.
"Are you ready for the Games?"
"Oh, they've already begun." |

“Sure they won’t mind?” She asked, a bit bashfully this time. Her ebony hair was slightly wild, framing her face, and her evergreen-lime eyes focused on him with a relieved expression. She was sure she sounded dumb, talking about a cat when he left a whole human family behind. But to her, that cat was her only family, and more important than any other person to her.
The whole conversation was starting to bring down her spirits a bit, and she clenched her fist slightly, out of his sight, her confidence dwelling again. But it faded quick, as she laughed softly at his words. “Never mind,” she snorted out, “I think your charm is fading.” She teased. Yet she shook her head as if discharging her laughter, “I mean, you’re still going to help me learn new tactics and be likeable. You said it yourself, good reputation can be life or death. I’m not planning on shutting my trap the whole games or anything, but I might as well not get us killed due to badmouthing the Capital.” Worry set on her brow too, “And, If we’re partners, me doing that could hurt you? You have a family, if the Capital is willing to kill children, what stops them from doing more?” She added softly.
She let off a sigh, the topic was a bit serious, and while she refused to die without doing something, she didn’t want him to get hurt in the crossfire.
”Yeah, deal.” She agreed, smiling. But her face froze, disgust filling her features, “Eww!” She huffed, “Damnit, now I can’t kill you.” She spat out, “I’d feel too guilty and feel emotions.” She muttered.
(I feel like this complete shift is going to be how she is most of the time with vile and terrible jokes and phrases. And just making murderous comments, and acting like a psychopath.) |

[ hmmm I'd say it depends on your character(what's there personality and how do you want them to entertain the Capitol, etc.). Some good overarching ones probably just pertain to their backstory(trying to get the Capitol to pity them) andor how they feel about the Games.
I'm remembering that during the movies some of them were asked what their greatest strength was XD ]]

“Hey, my family’s going to be fine,” Burton said softly “of course I’ll help you, I am happy to do that. But if you feel like you need to say something about the Capitol, you know I wouldn’t stop you because I feel the same way. We’d get punished, for sure, but not necessarily killed. And neither would my family. If we die in there it might as well be without any regrets, right?”
He did have a family to take care of and get home to, but he recognised that the likelihood of that happening was almost nonexistent at this point. He knew he was probably not going to live and so he felt like he might as well die in a way he could be proud of. If that was going down with Holly, cursing the Capitol, then that’s as what he’d do.
“I’ll coach you on charming the Capitol,” he said with a smile, “and maybe we can save the insulting the Capitol thing for another day. I’ll show you how to get good sponsorship.”
When she joked about not being able to kill him, he laughed.
“Ah, my plan all along,” he joked before adding “ah, well, guess you’ll just have to let someone else kill me.” |
