"Even the trees are killers."Helios sighed as he padded up to the fox's body and started pulling it."I'm gonna dig him a grave." Crow felt a wave of respect for Helios. Not many other cats would've done the same for a fox. "I'll help," she replied, padding over beside Helios and helping him to pull the heavy body out from the tangle of branches, cringing at the foul scent. She scanned their surroundings for a clear area to bury the fox. Crow was well aware they were wasting time, but it would be disrespectful just to leave the body there. Everyone deserved a proper burial, cat or not.

Helios found a rather large clearing with a few holly bushes growing nearby. He let go of the fox and started clawing at the dirt at the foot of one of the bushes.

Smoke glanced at his clanmates with a newfound respect, a small, sad smile etched onto his muzzle. Approaching Helios, he positioned himself alongside the ginger tom and began to dig. "It smells like it's going to rain soon..." he mumbled softly, glancing at the sky.

The she-cat looked almost skeptical, hesitant as if she was the one who'd just been stolen from. "You can't be serious..." she meowed, though it was more of a question than a statement. In fact, she'd accept the kill in a heartbeat. "Take it before I change my mind," Bronco growled, pushing the prey away from him as if it were crow-food. He knew he could provide for himself, but this cat…he wasn't so sure. Judging by the clumsy way she'd tried to snatch the kill from him, this she-cat probably wasn't the best hunter herself. He could replace the catch almost with ease.

"It smells like it's going to rain soon..." he mumbled softly, glancing at the sky. Crow stopped digging for a moment and glanced up at the sky as well. Patches of blue still showed in the center of the sky, but fluffy gray clouds were blowing in close to the edge. The air felt damp and heavy, but a slight breeze coursed through the trees. Smoke was right. They still had some time, but not enough to both dig the grave and pick up the scents before rain washed them away. Crow's fur prickled with worry, but she didn't let it show. "I'm sure the cats will be back soon," she said comfortingly. "It's getting closer to the evening now. If they aren't back by nightfall I'm sure there'll be a good reason, and rain might send them running back to the camp." Crow purred, trying to lighten up the suddenly serious mood.

"You sure?" she asked him, a hint of concern in her voice. She didn't want to make it seem like she thought Helios couldn't fend for himself, yet the memory of what they had agreed on earlier surfaced in her mind. It wasn't wise to split up if there were only three of them.

All thoughts of suspicion cleared away. Before she realized it, the she-cat rubbed against the tom's flank with gratitude before quickly stepping back and dipping her head. "Aki."

She dipped her head respectfully and turned to Smoke. "I guess we'd better get a move on," she mewed, turning and scanning the area ahead. The trees grew more sparse as they approached a long stretch of grass. Cats could easily be seen without the cover of the foliage that the forest offered. "We should try the meadow," she meowed.

Aki was still an outsider, but a friendly one. "I best be going," he said, stepping back and nodding to the she-cat. He felt a little empty now that she was finally leaving, even though he'd been trying to scare her off all this time. He didn't want to come on too strong, but he wanted to ask if she'd be around again sometime. Maybe they could start off on a better note, rather than quarreling over a kill. Bronco gave in and decided to ask her. No she-cat he'd met in the rogue group was as feisty as this one. Besides, there was nothing wrong with making a new friend. "Do you stay somewhere around here?" he asked the she-cat coolly.

Calypso trotted happily through the forest, while Ophelia trailed behind with an annoyed expression. The two were almost complete opposites and annoyed each other to end, but still manage to be inseparable. Having been there for one another since the beginning, it would be hard to break the sisters apart.
A sudden movement in the leaves caught the felines’ attentions. Somewhere behind them, something was moving around. Sniffing the air, Ophelia caught the distinct smell of rabbit in the air and her green eyes sparked. “Stay here,” she instructed her sister, who nodded reluctantly. Ophelia sent her a final, warning glare before slinking off in the direction of the rabbit.
The scent was growing stronger and the rustling growing louder. Ophelia slipped through some ferns, trying her best to keep her presence hidden, when she spotted the animal. It wasn’t aware of her at the moment, only sniffing around some plants as if looking for its own food. Ophelia smirked triumphantly; she would be bringing back a nice meal that day. She wriggled her haunches in preparation before springing at the rabbit, hardly giving it time to escape. However, the creature saw her and panicked, kicking out its back legs and striking the molly right in the face. Ophelia cried out in pain and fell backwards, while the animal darted out of sight.

Crow followed closely behind the tom, scanning their surroundings as they left the forest and approached a verge leading down to the center of the meadow. She tried to move quickly, once in a while taking a quick pause to inhale the grassy scents of the meadow. She could smell fresh cat-scents nearby, and as they advanced, she spotted two figures in the distance standing close to a cluster of trees that led into another wooded area. She padded down the verge until they were upwind of the two cats, but before she caught the cats' scents she recognized Bronco. There was a strange she-cat beside him and the two seemed to be talking casually. Crow frowned and turned to Smoke. "That's Bronco over there, but I don't recognize that she-cat."

We should hunt together sometime," he meowed, his tail waving up behind him. He was happy to have another opportunity to see the she-cat, but something seemed off. In the corner of his vision, he saw two silhouettes standing on the verge of the meadow, some distance away. He recognized the pelts of Crow and Smoke and knew this would be hard to explain—he had been casually chatting with an outsider! Bronco's shoulders tensed and he turned back to Aki, feeling as if eyes were boring into the back of his neck. "I think maybe you should go," he said tersely. "Some other cats in my group are over there. They could think you mean harm." Bronco knew it went deeper than that, but he didn't want to scare the she-cat away with talk of loyalty and rules.

Smoke nodded slowly, watching as they conversed casually. He watched as the tabby tensed up, most likely an indicator that he had noticed they were there. He was a bit surprised that Bronco of all cats would be conversing with an outsider. "Is he giving it that rabbit?" he hissed quietly.

Aki nodded slowly, a bit disappointed their conversation was cut off so abruptly. "Alright, but this isn't the last you'll see of me," she teased, a serious lack of threat in her tone as she quickly picked up the plump rabbit by the scruff and ran off, and extra spring in her bounds.

He was a bit surprised that Bronco of all cats would be conversing with an outsider. "Is he giving it that rabbit?" he hissed quietly. Crow watched in surprise as the small she-cat Bronco had been talking with took off with the rabbit in her jaws. "I don't believe this," she said, looking down in suspicion at the scene unfolding before them. "Before I had my doubts she was any trouble, but taking our prey is a little uncalled for." Crow's hackles bristled up, but she tried to push them down. At least the worst hadn't happened; the two could've fought and Bronco, one of their strongest fighters, could've been injured. Still, Crow felt a little betrayed by Bronco's actions; why would he give an outsider his kill rather than bringing back his catch to feed the group? Had this been going on long before?

Bronco gave a mew of amusement as Aki bounded off with the rabbit in her jaws. "You're welcome for that rabbit." With a jolt, he remembered he was still being watched. Caught up in conversation with the she-cat, he'd forgotten the more pressing matters—what excuse could he tell Crow and Smoke now that he'd given up his catch to an outsider, and right in front of them, at that? Bronco's shoulders tensed up even more as he turned to look at the two, both still standing on the verge looking down at him. They seemed to be in serious conversation, their gazes flitting to him as they talked. With a gulp, Bronco padded over to them. The walk over to the two cats felt like it lasted nearly forever. He tried to hide his prickling shame, keeping a calm air about him as he mewed, "That she-cat seemed frail, so I gave up my kill. I figured she needed it more than anyone." He realized how stupid the words sounded just as they came from his mouth, but it was too late now. He braced himself for a stinging reply from one of the older cats.

Smoke was tense, nothing about him calm. He was already on edge from his fellow rogues 'missing', and now this? He huffed in disapproval, a frown on his face as his eyes narrowed. "Bronco, we're suffering just as much as any other cat with the seasons changing," he sighed. "I suppose one rabbit won't hurt, but I don't let me catch you exchanging prey with outsiders again. Please, don't even speak with them. You find another on our territory you attack it, right?" the grey tom huffed, a sharp tone in his voice.
