When Twistedpaw made his way to the water, he didn't focus on the fish below it. Instead, he was gazing at his reflection. He didn't recognize the cat in it, he had a nick on his ear and his face appeared to be less full than it was before. He stepped away for a moment, trying to collect himself, then he went back. He tried to focus on what was beneath the water but it was hard for him. He had not hunted fish in a long time so he didn't get a good look at himself until now. A fish began to swim by though and he quickly snapped back to the task at paw. He swiped it up and it flew to the shore, flopping around. "I don't know how to kill them really though." He laughed nervously and tried to stop the fish from moving but it wasn't working very well.
{ I feel like I don't use Fawnstep a lot, so I'm thinking as a small plot for her making her have an inner battle. Like her ex kittypet mate is trying to convince her to leave the clans. Idk yet }

He followed his instructions and was shocked to see it die before him. He beamed at his catch for a few moments before listening to Gingerstripe. He had never thought about it, they didn't tell him where they had set up camp. Was it like the forest before them? "It'll have a lot of new faces, that's one thing I know for a fact. I like to think Fogstar picked a place much like our own home. He traveled towards the mountains, do you think he set up his camp beyond them?" His eyes wandered to the direction of the mountains in the distance. He couldn't imagine climbing that to make a camp.

{Honestly, if you left for two weeks and that was your excuse I'd accept it. }
Twistedpaw was a bit shocked at the prospect of living on a moor, surely Fogstar hadn't gone mad right? "I don't think the camp would be there, even Fogstar would admit that's a rough place to start." He fluffed up his pelt and quickly washed the paste off his leg, it was beginning to feel a bit better so he decided it was time to remove. He looked to Gingerstripe now, a question prodding his mind. "Do you think Owltuft will be there at the new camp?"
{I have a weird idea, but if you decide to kill Dappleleaf, I think Twistedpaw would take her suffix in honor of the cat who saved him }

He sighed as he remembered the old medicine cat, who had been pressuring him as kit to be the third medicine cat of the clan. He couldn't imagine Owltuft with an apprentice, could they have found one so quickly already? "I think so, who do you think the new deputy is?" He was wishing it was a nice cat, not one like Ravenstar. He didn't want to leave here and go back to the same thing again. "Maybe it's a new cat."
{ I don't think we actually mentioned Ashpelt is deputy to them lol unless my memory is bad }

Twistedpaw ran through a bunch of cats in his head before speaking "I would think it's Ashpelt, or maybe it actually is a new cat. It would be a good way to unify them right? Though, you have a point. Fogstar probably wouldn't make one deputy" He felt like Ashpelt would be a good choice, he had always been a kind cat. Several were shocked when he wasn't chosen in the beginning but accepted Ravenstrike with open hearts.
{Dude if I disappear, my power is out. It's really bad storming and I'm trying not to freak out, we just had a tornado the next town over that destroyed a few in-laws houses...ahhh And it's supposed to be bad until the 14th ; - ; }

(oof, i feel that, except it's usually hurricanes and tropical storms down here)
Gingerstripe hummed thoughtfully. Ashpelt was the ideal choice, and he remembered the surprise when the gray tom wasn't picked. "I guess it would be an opportunity for Fogstar to correct his mistake," he grumbled. Like his mother, he agreed that his uncle should have been picked in the first place. He remembered Ashpelt as a noble and respected cat who always took charge when no other cat wanted to. "Ashpelt would make a good leader, that's for sure. Of course, Fogstar is also a great leader." Gingerstripe looked back to the river in time to see another fish flashing by. Instinctively, he extended his paw and clawed it out of the water, finishing it with a quick bite. Thank Starclan... We can't afford to miss prey.

{ I dont know if I could handle that, we just went under a flood warning and it already scares me enough. Tropical storms? no thanks}
Twistedpaw followed his lead on searching for more fish. "He is the obvious choice, isn't it?" He liked the idea of Ashpelt being deputy a lot, though when he mentioned Ashpelt making a good leader his ears went flat. He didn't want to think about Fogstar passing just yet, he wanted to see the leader again. He spotted a flash of silver out of the corner of his eyes and swatted at the water, sending a much smaller fish up into the air. He knew he probably shouldn't have swatted like that, but they were already gathering a fair amount of prey at this point.

(yeeaah, we flood all the time)
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that. Fogstar will lead for many seasons to come, I'm sure," Gingerstripe murmured, bowing his head. He smiled as Twistedpaw caught another fish, giving him a nod of approval. "One more should be enough," he decided. As he looked for more fish, he found his thoughts wandering to how things were before Ravenstar took charge. His mother and father had been discussing having more kits, Gingerstripe was just finishing training his second apprentice, and Hollycloud and Tigerstripe were happily together. Hollycloud and Tigerstripe. He wondered how his sister would react, seeing her former mate again. Maybe they'll get back together? After all, she only broke things off so he would leave with Fogstar... Gingerstripe could never forget the hurt looks in both their eyes as his sister turned her back on him.

{I have like a deep fear of drowning and stuff like that, so yea I guess I'll stick with tornadoes}
Twistedpaw eyed Gingerstripe, wondering what he was thinking. He turned his head away, searching the water for a fish. He saw small ones, not even bothering to scoop them up in case Ravenstar got mad about it. At the thought of the leader, he thought about different ways he could have stopped Ravenstar coming to power. He didn't have many, but he was hopeful. He got up from his spot by the water and swiped at it, sending water droplets skittering onto Gingerstripe. "I wish Ravenstar never was deputy. Things would be so much different, better."

Snowclaw had been walking along the riverbank for what felt like moons in search of Ashpelt and his patrol; he was starting to think that Twistedpaw had gotten his information mixed up, or the patrol had moved on already. He kept going, however, ignoring the dull ache in his still-sore foreleg. A sudden breeze blew through his thick white fur and a chill ran up his spine. His eyes widened as his nose picked up a scent that had seemingly been wafted towards him by the wind - a scent that wasn't entirely unfamiliar. They were close. He pushed on, picking up the pace, and shouldered his way through a clump of ferns. The sight on the other side was unexpected, to say the least. He spotted Ashpelt straight away, curled up in a ball and sleeping soundly; two other cats that he did not recognise sat nearby, a pretty cream-furred she-cat with ginger points, and a skinny she-cat with golden fur and bold black tabby markings. "Uh, hello?" he called out hesitantly, "My name is Snowclaw, Twistedpaw sent me."

Waspwing tilted her head as Robinsong finished speaking, her eyes wide with sympathy for the other she-cat. "You'll see them again, maybe we can ask Fogstar to let you look for them when all this is over?" she suggested, offering Robinsong a small smile. The sound of bushes rustling immediately drew her attention, and her head snapped up. Maybe Snaketooth and Shadefang are back already? That thought quickly vanished when a large, unfamiliar cat stepped out of the undergrowth; he had thick white fur and strange, mismatched eyes. As he approached, Waspwing noted his slight limp and shredded ears, and the scars visible on his shoulders even through his white coat. "My name is Snowclaw, Twistedpaw sent me." Twistedpaw? That was the apprentice who had visited earlier, so was this cat also from CedarClan? "Stop right there," she spat, getting to her paws and narrowing her eyes. To her surprise, the white tom stopped in his tracks and blinked at her, his head cocked to one side.

Robinsong jumped at the new voice, whirling around to face the newcomer. He looked like he'd seen a lot of combat, based on his scars. She flattened her ears and glared at the tom, instinctively sliding out her claws. However, she quickly noted his relaxed and non-hostile demeanor. The cat, Snowclaw, didn't appear to want to harm them. "Hang on, Waspwing. I don't think he's a threat," she mewed, looking to her clanmate. "Don't you think he would've attacked us by now if he were?" Robinsong turned her gaze back to Snowclaw and dipped her head politely. "Hello! I'm Robinsong."

Waspwing frowned, sheathing her claws but keeping her eyes narrowed to dangerous slits as she observed Snowclaw. Again, Ashpelt seemed to know him, and there was no display of hostility from either their deputy or the strange warrior, but Waspwing wasn't sure about any of these cats. She did her best to flatten her fur, but her tail remained bushed out. "Before long, the whole of CedarClan is going to know about what's going on," she muttered under her breath, shaking her head.

"I see you still snore, Ashpelt," Snowclaw chuckled, striding forward to meet his friend in the middle of the small clearing. He was extremely glad that it was Ashpelt who had come, as there were few cats Snowclaw trusted as much as the grey warrior. He glanced over his shoulder in the direction he had come from and flicked an ear. "I was with Gingerstripe and Twistedpaw, they filled me in," he explained, turning back to the grey warrior, "but I wanted to come and see you before we get Twistedpaw out of camp. I think I can help, I just need the assistance of one of your warriors." His gaze flitted to the two she-cats who stood nearby, watching them as they spoke; the cream-furred she-cat seemed friendly, and was observing him with interest, but the tabby's ears remained flat to her head and he took note of her ruffled fur and narrowed eyes. "There's another apprentice, Kitepaw, and his mother Brambleflower who wish to leave. Brambleflower is heavily pregnant, and won't be able to cross the river, so we need to find somewhere else for her to cross before we can get her out." He realised that a pregnant queen would be a heavy burden on the patrol, and the journey back to wherever his former Clanmates lived now would be hard and full of risks for Brambleflower, but it seemed that the tawny queen was more than willing to go ahead with it from what Kitepaw had told him. "But regarding tonight, and Twistedpaw's escape, I need one of your warriors to help me and Kitepaw lure the guards away from the camp. I thought we might use a scent they didn't recognise to draw them out into the territory away from the river and give Dappleleaf enough time to get Twistedpaw out of camp."

{Hey wasp! Wasn't sure if you saw but when Snow gets back we are skipping ahead in time ^^
also I tried to draw a cute pic of Snaketooth and Robinsong. Only have drawn Robinsong. }
Twistedpaw didn't answer, instead he swiped up a big fish, well tried to. It ended up taking him into the water with it, having underestimated the weight of it. He suddenly started to panic, flailing his paws wildly and screeching as he frantically searched for the side of the water. He had never really been in the river, he was always cautious around it due to his back leg. He looked at Gingerstripe with wide eyes as he clawed at the empty water beneath him.

Ashpelt was about to reply when Robinsong stepped forward, offering to go herself. He stared at her thoughtfully. She probably has the best chance if it comes to a fight, but she's got a broad built; not the best for sneaking. But Shadefang will have the same problem, considering how much fur she has. He hummed and nodded slowly. "Robinsong is the best choice," he agreed. "Ideally, I would go myself or send Snaketooth, but if it has to be a stranger to the old clan, Robinsong should go. Waspwing will be heading back to update Fogstar once the hunting patrol gets back, so she's out of the question." Ashpelt stared at Snowclaw for a moment, a smile beginning to make its way onto his face. "It's great to see you again," he mewed softly. "As for Brambleflower, we'll get her across safely, even if I have to put her on my back."

Twistedpaw let out a cough, flattening his ears and trying to free the water from his fur. "I'm fine, great." He growled, not mad at Gingerstripe, just at himself. He scrambled further from the water and flopped on the ground, laying his head down on the ground and closing his eyes. He needed a moment to collect himself, his fur felt soaked and he hated it.
{I never asked, is it okay if I draw Robinsong? I haven't colored it or anything so I can scrap it ^^; }

(Sure, a timeskip is fine! ^^)
Snowclaw glanced at Robinsong, the cream-furred she-cat, with gratitude glowing in his eyes. "Thank you, Robinsong. I'll make sure that you return safely," he vowed, dipping his head to the warrior. If that was Robinsong, then the tabby must be Waspwing. Ignoring Waspwing's hostile glare, he greeted her with a polite nod; her eyes widened, as though taken aback, and she huffed, reluctantly returning the gesture. At Ashpelt's mention of Snaketooth, he looked around, scanning the clearing and the undergrowth around them. "Where is Snaketooth, anyway? I've missed that little mousebrain," he mewed with a chuckle, turning back to Ashpelt, "I take it he's on the hunting patrol, now that you mention it." His gaze was warm as he met Ashpelt's; he had missed the younger tom and doubted words could even begin to capture how relieved he was to see that he was alright. "I'd say Brambleflower despises Ravenstar more than any cat I know. Her kits prevented her from leaving the first time, but she's determined to not let that happen again. Kitepaw is her son from her first litter, and he's doing very well - he's got this awfully contagious cheerfulness about him. They've been through a lot, to say the least, with what happened to Kitepaw's sisters a few moons ago."

Ashpelt wanted to know more about the state of the clan, but stopped himself from asking any questions. "You should probably get back soon," he meowed, a twinge of sadness in his voice. He wanted more than anything to just charge into Cedarclan's camp, grab his desperate clanmates, and leave. He wanted so badly to get them out of there all together, as soon as possible, and get back to their new home. But we can't do that. "We don't want any cat getting suspicious." Ashpelt licked Snowclaw's shoulder, looking up at him proudly. "You're a brave cat, Snowclaw. So are Twistedpaw and Dappleleaf. I appreciate your help, even if you may not be joining us."

{ Well I'm not a good artist, and I'm trying to turn it into digital work which never works out but I'm putting it on the front page when done ^^; }
His claws were digging scraping at the ground beneath him, trying to calm himself down. He couldn't imagine what would have happened if Gingerstripe wasn't there for him. He coughed a bit, spitting out some water when he did. He slowly opened his eyes, feeling a bit different. He let out a frustrated sigh and heaved himself up, feeling the ache in his legs. The black tom turned to the fish next to them and started grabbing one. "We should head back to camp. See what's going on there and make sure this prey is back before I fall back in."

"You know I'd follow you if it was only me I had to worry about," Snowclaw mewed, his voice laced with both sadness and pride as he returned Ashpelt's lick, "but I've got grandchildren on the way, and Frostflower..." he trailed off with a sigh, "Frostflower is a hard nut to crack. I just hope I can sway her from Ravenstar this time. And don't worry about the Clan, they pay no mind to me as long as I keep my head down and bring prey back for Ravenstar." He took a step back, a smile gracing his features as he held eye contact with Ashpelt. "I'll do what I can," he promised. "Robinsong, can you head upriver just before moonhigh? There's an old, dead tree missing all of its branches by the bank, a few tail-lengths from the water. Meet Kitepaw and I there." With that, he turned, and with a wave of his tail he disappeared into the undergrowth. He began to head upriver, towards the dead tree where he'd asked Robinsong to meet him and Kitepaw that night. He'd have to bring back some fish for the Clan if he were to avoid trouble, he remembered with a sigh. Ravenstar is a nightmare, I bet he's still hoarding the prey from yesterday and the day before. There was that voice in the back of his head again, and this time he snorted.
