Shadefang gave Fawnstep an apologetic look. "Apparently," she said with a grunt. "I'll let you know what happens." Her soft look turned hard again as she crossed the clearing toward the medicine den, her thick tail lashing. So impatient! Being rushed just made her even more cranky. She put herself beside the other cats and glanced over at Robinsong and Snaketooth before rolling her eyes. "I'm here."

Snailpaw was kneading her paws excitedly into the dirt. "Drop first," she said. "It sounds easier." She wasn't sure if it actually was, but it definitely sounded more fun. She started looking around at all the trees. "Which one should I get on?" she asked, noting all the different heights.

Robinsong couldn't help but admire Snaketooth for probably a bit too long. Realizing what she was doing, she quickly shook herself out of her trance, feeling her pelt grow hot as she gave her chest fur a few embarrassed licks. "Have some patience," she mewed softly, avoiding eye contact. As Shadefang approached, she perked up and smiled at the she-cat. "Hello, Shadefang!"
Ashpelt pushed an herb bundle towards Shadefang. "Here, eat these. I'll explain what's going on when Waspwing gets here," he mewed curtly. He circled the group before sitting in front of them, eyeing the clearing.
"Oh? I didn't realize I was mates with the bad boy of the nursery!" Cloudsplash purred, resting her head against his shoulder. She sighed and flicked her tail, silently praying to Starclan that her kits wouldn't be too much trouble. She didn't know if she'd have the strength to keep up with them if they were as troublesome as Flintfur was as a kit. Cloudsplash herself had been an angel as a kit; her shy nature resulted in her being less adventurous than the other kits.

Fawnstep nodded, calling out to her "I'll be holding you to that, or I..." She trailed off trying to think of something "I'll make sure to let the birds up there get you!" She felt satisfied with what she said, going off in pursuit of her apprentice.
Snaketooth glanced between Shadefang and Fawnstep before settling his eyes on Shadefang. "Hey there! One down, one more to go! Did you get any more information out of grumpy old Ashpelt?" He certainly getting a kick out of teasing Ashpelt.
"Yep, baddest of the bad." He chuckled, intertwining his tail with hers. He let himself get lost in her scent, realizing he might not see her as much when the kits are born, she will be too preoccupied with the small ones while he is out on patrols. He began to groom her fur, though it didn't need much.

Cloudsplash reached up and began to groom him. "You're the one with your fur in a mess," she laughed, licking down some unruly fur around his neck. She leaned back to admire him, gaze full of love. With a huff, she stood and stretched her legs. "I think I'll go sleep a bit longer. You should see if you can catch me a rabbit today. How's that for a challenge?" Cloudsplash licked his forehead before padding back over to the nursery, tail waving happily as she walked.
One of Ashpelt's ears flattened at Snaketooth's words. He narrowed his eyes and lowered his head, glancing away from the group. "I am not grumpy," he grumbled grumpily. He seemed to realize the irony in his words and felt his ears grow hot. He opened his mouth to say something else, but quickly shut his jaws. Old and grumpy... Real nice, Ashpelt!
Robinsong laughed at Snaketooth's teasing, her laughter only growing stronger as Ashpelt tried to defend himself. She looked between the two toms, whiskers twitching with amusement. "Come on, Snaketooth. Don't tease Ashpelt!" She nudged him and gave him a lopsided grin. "I don't think his old heart can take it."

Shadefang watched Fawnstep go, whiskers twitching, before turning back to the group. The large she-cat nodded kindly to both Robinsong and Snaketooth, then bent down to lick up the herbs. The bitter taste made her cringe, but she licked at her paws a bit to help get rid of the taste. She looked on as Snaketooth started picking on Ashpelt and couldn't help but snicker.
Snailpaw gave a firm nod before hurrying to the closest birch tree. She had climbed trees before but didn't get to do much on it - until now. Her tail flicked back and forth excitedly as she scrambled up the bark, stopping when she came to a branch. It was one of the lowest, but not so low that the fall would be a gentle one. "Now what?" she called down to Brokennose as she took in some breaths.

(brief recap for owlspots so you don't have to go through all those posts: Waspwing was asked to meet Ashpelt by the medicine den and Tigerstripe was left in charge of patrols while Ashpelt is away! ^^)

(Oh thank you so much! I was swamped with revision yesterday and have been trying to catch up on posts and for some reason I wasn't alerted to FogClan like, at all?? I'll try my best to be active as much as possible this weekend between revision ^^)
Waspwing poked her nose through the entrance to the medicine den. As she'd expected, it seemed that everybody else who'd been assigned to this patrol had showed up before she did, and she was definitely running late to the party. "Sorry I'm late," she muttered her apology, squeezing into the den as best she could with it being already so crowded. She saw that the others were already eating the herbs that they'd need for the journey - wherever it was they were going - so she quickly approached the remaining bundle which she assumed was for her and licked the herbs up as fast as she could.
Tigerstripe was more than a little baffled when Ashpelt approached him, and when the deputy informed him that he was to be in charge of patrols until his return, his eyes grew as round as moons. Him? In charge? StarClan, he never thought he'd see the day. Back in the old Clan, especially when he was an apprentice, lots of his Clanmates had called him stupid and mouse-brained and slow, so he'd always been sure that he'd always be seen in the same way. However, since FogClan's creation, Tigerstripe had felt a lot more comfortable among his new Clanmates considering they weren't aware of what the old Clan was like. Now Ashpelt, the deputy was giving him such a massive responsibility? "I won't let you down, Ashpelt!" he declared proudly, puffing out his chest. Even when the older tom walked away towards the medicine den, the dumb grin didn't leave Tigerstripe's face. He'd be the best stand-in deputy ever! He did wonder where Ashpelt was headed to, though. He noticed that other warriors had gone into the medicine den too: Snaketooth, Robinsong, Waspwing and Shadefang. Maybe a secret mission or something?

(it's all good! hopefully it didn't seem like i was rushing you! i just wanted to make sure you were caught up)
Once all the cats were gathered, he looked between them all nervously. "I guess I owe you all an explanation." His gaze grew serious as he looked between all of their faces. "We're going to the old territory to see how the old clan is doing," he mewed hesitantly. He considered waiting a moment to see how they would react, but instead continued. "It's going to be a hard journey; maybe not physically, but for some of us, emotionally." As he spoke, Ashpelt looked up at Snaketooth.
Robinsong was taken aback at the deputy's words. "We're going... to the old territory?" She looked at Snaketooth, shocked. Well, it's certainly an adventure, she thought, though she was unsure if it was the adventure they had in mind.

Snaketooth felt like his paws were stone as soon as he heard they were travelling to the old territory. "You're joking, right Ashpelt?" He stood up, his tail lashing now. "We can't possibly be going back to that forsaken place! Fogstar has gone mad!" He began to pace around, trying to wrap his head around the idea of heading back to the place where his whole life fell apart. He looked to Robinsong for a moment before turning back to Ashpelt, as though he could fix this situation. "Why would we need to check in on those fox-hearted betrayers?" He growled, his normal joking easy-going demeanor was going, replaced with this cold stone faced one. "I'll go, only for Fogstar, but the second we see anything I don't like I'm ripping them apart. They destroyed our clan!"

(Not at all!! I really appreciate it! I'm gonna have to vanish after this post though because it's like, midnight and I have work tomorrow smh :c)
"Wait," Waspwing started, more than a little confused, "we're going back to the territory that you guys left because Fogstar got overthrown by some mouse-brain who thought he deserved to lead more?" She was, safe to say, absolutely dumbfounded. What sort of task was this? A reconnaissance mission? A battle patrol? A friendly check-up? However, she realised with a start that, out of all of them gathered, only Ashpelt and Snaketooth had known the old Clan. She had been very unsure as to why she, of all cats, had been asked to join this patrol, but now she was fairly certain. "Fogstar's sending us because they won't recognise the majority of us, isn't he?" she asked, her tone blunt.

Ashpelt gave Snaketooth an understanding look. "Snaketooth, you remember how things were; cats were scared. Are you going to tell me terrified cats, such as Leopardpaw's parents and my littermates, were traitors because they were scared?" He hadn't meant to get so riled up, but the gray tom still pitied his littermates. He still remembered Dappleleaf and Stormscreech's sad looks as they watched him leave. They didn't think we'd survive, he thought with a shake of his head. Snapping out of his memories, he looked towards Waspwing and nodded. "If we do get caught, it's best that they see a cat they don't recognize. You'll be safer. We have to do this."
Robinsong stared at Ashpelt thoughtfully before nodding. She looked up at Snaketooth and touched noses with the tom, hoping to calm him down a bit. "Surely you understand," she murmured. "You all made a treacherous journey all the way out here. They probably didn't think Fogstar would make it. Surely there are still good cats there you want to check up on?"

{Ahh that just made me think of something, changing Igor to something else ;P }
Snaketooth paused, his eyes falling to the ground. "Twistedpaw." He admitted, thinking back to the young tom. "I want to know what Ravenstrike did with him. He didn't come because he wasn't sure he would make the journey with us. What if we get there and we discover Ravenstrike destroyed the former clan? What if some cats aren't there?" He pressed, he wasn't sure if Ravenstrike would even keep the poor apprentice around, Twistedpaw had gotten his name after his messed up back paw after all, it was almost useless. He was still a fine apprentice, but Ravenstrike would always tease the apprentice about his limp when no one was watching.

(owo)
"That's why we're going back," Ashpelt mewed, letting out a small sigh of relief that Snaketooth seemed to be coming around. "If they see that we've made it and that we're doing okay, the cats who were scared might come back with us." He stood and puffed out his chest, looking down at the small group with confident eyes. "We're going to make this journey, and you all here right now are who I've chosen to go. You all have qualities that will aid with the journey. You're all wonderful cats, and we're going to save as many cats as we can, as discreetly as possible." His eyes scanned each cat as he spoke, nodding encouragingly at each of them.
Robinsong glanced at her paws for a few moments, unsure if she was the right cat for the job. Finally, she nodded. If these cats were Snaketooth and Ashpelt's clanmates, they were hers as well. "Let's do it," she mewed firmly.

"Yeah, they are," Shadefang muttered to Waspwing. All she could do was watch Snaketooth freak out and Ashpelt and Robinsong try to calm him down. She, of course, had no ties with the old territory, and some part of her had always wanted to see what they looked like. But not like this. It was probably best to bring cats that weren't there originally, too, but despite Ashpelt's words she felt that was the only reason she was chosen to go. Her gaze shifted away from the group out of awkwardness until the tom announced they were going, and she nodded firmly in agreement.
Snailpaw bunched up her haunches and wiggled, staring down at the forest floor at a spot near Brokennose. Then she sprang forward, paws facing down. Falling, however, was not an experience Snailpaw had previously experienced until now, and with a squeak failed her paws out in fear. The she-cat hit the ground on her stomach with a soft thud. She laid there dazed for a moment, then scrambled to her paws.

Brokennose stared at Snailpaw."Trust your paws to keep you alive,and don't think of the landing,think of the fall.The wind rushing through your fur."He nudged her to the tree."Remember,when you use this in battle,you'll land on an enemy and they'll break your fall."

Snailpaw nodded, hot shame on her face, but she continued to climb up the tree anyway. She got onto the same branch and gazed down. Her eyes met with Brokennose's, and she let out a breath before springing forward again. This time she ignored the sensation and stuck her feet straight down, listening to her instincts. She hit the ground and crouched down; the pain in her pads only lasted a moment. She opened one eye, then hopped up and beamed. "I did it!"

Snaketooth set out with the patrol, still feeling a slight sense of dread within but he could hear the she-cats around him and he wondered if they felt a bit under appreciated/ He cocked his head to the side and tried to cheer up. When they left the camp walls behind them and were away from the rest of the cats, he began to talk to everyone. "You know, our old clan territory was a lot different than this one! Well kind of. It was prettier." He began, glancing over to Ashpelt to see if the tom agreed. "We actually lived in the forest, our camp was there, instead of the cave." He tried to think a bit more about the old territory, imagining himself running through the dense undergrowth with his clanmates chasing after foxes, or when he was a kit in camp playing attack the badger. "I think you'll find it pretty cool to see the old territory, the other cats won't get the chance to and well...I'm glad we have some strong she-cats on our side." He gave them each a smile before catching up to walk beside Robinsong, letting his fur brush against hers every now and again.

"I'm kind of glad I will be showing you a new place" He meowed, gazing behind to the forest. He never imagined he would wind up here one day, but he was glad he was, looking to the three cats they had come across since they found the new territory. It might stink that Ravenstrike kicked us out of our old territory, but I don't know if I'd change anything, I wouldn't have met any of these cats, like Robinsong, Fawnstep, Ashpelt would never be deputy. I don't know if I would truly would be happy in the old territory. He fluffed up his fur and began to make his way up the top of the mountain.
{I think the old territory should be beyond the mountains, if that's alright ^^ That way, in my mind, it's less foggy and a bit of a distance to travel. }

Shadefang walked in the back of the patrol, her tail absentmindedly flicking as she listened to the other warriors go on about the old territory. She knew she shouldn't be upset about this trip; it was a chance to see a new place and meet some new cats. "I'm sure it's lovely," she commented, her tone gruff but genuine. It was nice to see Snaketooth and Ashpelt reminisce about the territory, instead of completely fretting about it.
Snailpaw was already climbing up the tree again while he was pulling out the moss. It was getting easier every time she clawed up the bark, and now when she looked down to the forest floor her stomach didn't drop as much. When she jumped off the branch, she quickly realized how hard it was to aim in the air. She twisted and landed a tail-length away from it. Snailpaw stood and shook out her pelt with a huff.

(sounds good! ^^)
"It was a great place." Ashpelt tried to limit how much he complimented the old territory, hoping the new warriors weren't upset by it. The new territory was just as good, maybe even better, but he still had so many memories from the old forest. And I'll have new memories of Fogclan territory in ten or twenty moons, he thought determinedly. We just need more time there.
Robinsong pulled herself up the mountain alongside Snaketooth, scrambling to keep up. Although she was a broad, muscular cat, inclines always seemed to exhaust her quicker than anything. She slowed a bit to match Shadefang's pace and smiled at the she-cat. "What do you think it'll be like, Shadefang?" she asked curiously. Like her, Shadefang had never seen the old territory or the old clan, and Robinsong was glad she had that in common with most of the patrol.

Snaketooth found himself walking next to Ashpelt now, feeling a surge of excitement go through him. "Do you think we will cross the river I fell in as an apprentice?" He asked, remembering that day. He was always the curious joker, and his first day out of camp had been with Ashpelt and his apprentice along with his mentor. He decided to try and show off by jumping on some stones but he had lost his balance and fell in, nearly drowning in the process. "Or will we try to go around the territory and enter from the other side?"
{I hope it's okay I used Ashpelt in that memory, if not I can fix it c: }

(Ooooh a rescue mission??? Might just be tempted to uhhh mess around and make another cat or two ( Ν‘Β° ΝΚ Ν‘Β°) As though I actually need any more characters)
At Snaketooth's words and movement towards Robinsong, Waspwing snorted, shaking her head. However, there was a glimmer of amusement in her yellow glare if one was to look closely. She padded along at the rear of the patrol, close to Shadefang and Robinsong but lingering slightly behind. "The rogues I ran with once - the ones I stole from - said they'd gone beyond the mountain before," she mewed, pricking her black-tipped ears, "they said there was no fog there at all. Found that hard to believe considering there's so much of it here." She was admittedly curious to see what some of the other warriors called 'the old territory'. She knew that many of them had come from Fogstar's former Clan with their leader as Ashpelt and Snaketooth had done, like Tigerstripe, Badgerpaw and Snailpaw.
