corgi >> Lilah cracked another amused smile. "I've still got some break time, though if you don't mind waiting ten minutes or so, I'm sure I can get an order started soon." She didn't mind, though they'd probably spend a little more time than that on talking. Speaking of, she arched a brow when Bryan asked about the attacks. Frowning slightly, she shook her head. "It's happened more than once, but mainly in the neighboring cities and towns. They're getting closer and closer to Westwood again. I think they're getting a little bolder." Surely it was of no big concern yet, as the rogue pack hadn't yet made any daring moves or anything like that. "Westwood is on alert though, so I doubt we will be caught by surprise like the first time." The first time was almost a disaster, with an attack happening on one of the Westwood families a while back, but the kids weren't harmed and the parents hadn't been horribly injured. Lilah had been distressed for days, having sent a few search parties to go and find the rogues. However, they always managed to vanish. And when Westwood stopped looking, those rogues struck again.
"If those rogues dare to try and mount some sort of attack here, they will be met with no welcome." She didn't necessarily want conflict, but she was not above it if it meant keeping her people safe. The weres there were perfectly capable of taking care of themselves regardless though, and the thought made her feel a little better. "I just want to know what they want though. Probably our territory. Our town, for whatever reason I don't know." Maybe they were seeking refuge from something. From something that spooked them perhaps. Authorities probably, human hunters. If they dragged Westwood into such matters though, they would have Lilah to deal with. "I try not to think too much about it if I can." Which wasn't often. Sighing, she looked around the diner again. "I think I'll see to starting on that burger of yours. Any specific one, or should I surprise you?" Lilah smiled slightly again as she sat up a little more. What was five minutes of break anyway? She much preferred cooking and making customers happy while on the grounds of the diner.

bloodrosepelt"Well, I'm driving you straight home, squirt. I was busy dozing off until you called." He shook his head a little even though Kuro couldn't see him. "I'll be there soon. Just stay put." And he soon hung up, walking back to his car to start it up and drive to pick his cousin up. Good thing he didn't call Lilah, or she would've turned him in to the school staff rather than pick him up.

Cora Alizarin Only dead fish go with the flow
It had only been logical. She spent all of her free time in the library, so getting a job there had been the most sensible option. Perhaps if she had considered that the job would be more than learning the in's and outs of the Dewey decimal system and in fact wold consist of reorganising an entire building that had not been maintained for what she could only assume was decades, she may have reconsidered her life choices. She was currently somewhere in the 300's, Social studies, up a ladder with a dangerously overloaded armful of books that would certainly make someone with a weak disposition nervous. It didn't seem to phase her, even as she lent beyond her arms reach to slide a rather dull looking tome in to place, where no doubt it would remain for many years, or until some high schooler came in with a bizarre project. Who was she kidding, the internet meant she didn't have to suffer through youngsters coming in to browse books, there was a distinct age gap in those that crossed the threshold in to her realm. Youngsters, with thriving imaginations, yet to be dulled by the lure of the smartphone or the pull of a games console. They came in search of tales of daring and adventure, princesses in tall towers, guarded by fire breathing beasts, knights on white horses ready to save them. Pirates on high seas, in search of some long lost treasure. Those kind of visitors made her smile, a thought back to what had fuelled her love of books in the first place, the lack of restriction and the effortless escape to some new reality. They stopped coming in at about 8 years of age, when the antics of internet celebrities became of far greater interest. It was only as people began to discover themselves that they returned. When passing through puberty they had decided that they were capable of developing a personality that the returned, no longer hungry for the old tales of adventure, but books such as those she was stacking now, odious editions on commerce, communications and collections of statistics enough to send one comatose.
The books were filed, neat and proper, exactly where they should be, allowing her to climb down the ladder. Somehow down without the books looked more difficult than up with them, perhaps because the weight had turned her arms to rubber. Tucking a stray copper curl behind her ear she returned to her desk, the front desk where people asked daft questions, and where her coffee was currently cooling impatiently. The mug was black, a white square mocked the labels on the spines of every book, '738.382 - MUG' a source of great amusement to her but perhaps not a joke the populous could appreciate. Slumping in the high backed office chair, that had promised lumbar support in the original advertisement and had yet to prove any such trait. Her coffee had reached that tepid level, where it still remembered being warm but wasn't entirely pleasant to drink. She swallowed it down anyway, a soft sigh escaping pale lips. Ready to face the day ahead.

Kuro rolled his eyes and said," really that is all, you made it sound like you were doing something important." He then put his phone back in his pocket and waited for his cousin. When he finally saw his cousins car he said," about time I was starting to get bored out here."

(( Sorry about the late reply. I'm so tired haha ))
Smokey Feather
He would have taken anything else. Something to ease his stress.
Instead Bryan found himself sighing in discontent. That was the last thing he had wanted to hear. He stared down at the ring on his finger, twisting it simply to find something to do with his hands.
Their community was supposed to be a safe haven. Humans he absolutely didn't trust. They all knew that, and he wasn't exactly subtle about it. This, however, was different. How could he sleep knowing that their own kind was out causing destruction? Even if they never struck them, their antics were sure to bring more people flocking to find them and bring them down. What would happen to Westwood if they were discovered for what they truly were? He couldn't imagine being forced to leave their town. It was the only place he had called home. His grandparents had lived here. His great-grandparents had lived here. They couldn't just relocate away from a place with so many memories.
He had been on the first search parties, quickly volunteering his time in order to stop the threat from growing. Unfortunately, despite only being 30, his body couldn't quite keep up with the endless searches followed by days of work. For the first time in a while, he sat out and let the others handle it. He still tried to keep up with the news whenever he could, but rarely did he have a chance to talk to anyone about it.
He hadn't realized how much he was beginning to zone out until Lilah shifted beside him. He immediately pushed all thoughts about the issues away, knowing it would do no good to fret over them now. He was going to live in the present.
"You should rest a bit longer," Bryan told her, smiling once more. "I'm hungry, but we rarely chat anymore. I swear it's like you're avoiding me. It seems like I never hear how you all are doing outside of town threats and status updates. The food can wait."
His stomach growled. He glanced down for a moment before looking back up at her.
"Ignore him. He doesn't know what he's talking about. How have you all been holding up through all of this?"

corgi >> She couldn't keep down a smile as Bryan joked about his stomach. "If only we'd met up somewhere where there wasn't any food cooking. Or if you'd simply come with even a half-full belly." If they hadn't started up a real conversation, she would've already been working to cook up something from the menu, having done so before upon request. As she thought it all over, she almost didn't hear as Bryan spoke again.
Lilah laughed softly. "I can only wish I had the freetime to avoid people." Okay, she didn't really wish that, but the point was that she didn't have much freetime. And any that she did have was of course going to be spent with either family or with others from the town. She liked to be out and among the Westwood weres, talking and spending time with them. Providing reassurance if needed even. When asked how things were going, she rolled her shoulders in a shrug. "Well enough. Could be better. The town is starting to murmur more and more about the rogues, but I'm surprised they're still so quiet about it. No one seems too spooked though, and they shouldn't be." If the rogues had wanted to try something beyond bothering and petty theft, they would have done so by now surely. Or maybe they were taking their time on purpose or something. And when Westwood let their guard down or something, they'd strike like always, but on a bigger scale perhaps.
"I've done my best to reassure them and keep them calm though. The last thing we need is for people to start panicking and flopping around. The pack would jump on that quicker than a blink, I'm sure." Lilah didn't doubt her people though, knowing they could adapt to many situations just as they have for generations. And, if worst came to worst, they would leave Westwood. She wouldn't dare risk anyone's safety if the pack ended up attracting the attention of humans or something. "I was thinking about trying to get in contact with the pack," Lilah suddenly stated. "To try and figure out if we can either get them to leave or stop messing around with us, because if they keep up they could risk attracting humans. And if humans start looking for us, that could threaten our living here." She had a hunch that the pack was not looking to share or move on though, having been causing trouble for a few months on and off.

bloodrosepeltLukas rolled his eyes. "Just get in." He'd unlocked the doors so Kuro could get in. "And you're going straight home, alright?" Kuro wasn't hard to watch and be around, but he wasn't going to take him wherever he wanted or anything. "So, why are you wanting to leave this time?"

Kuro got into his cousins car and said," oh come on that is no fun." He then leaned back in his seat and said," I just got tired of my classes so I just decided to leave." Honestly Kuro hated going to school due to the fact he views himself as above it.

"You'll never find me anywhere that doesn't involve food. That's why I'm starting lose my figure," Bryan told her, only half joking.
He was a man who loved his food. Very rarely did he hunt despite the much lower cost, as he knew he's spoiled himself on prepared food. Despite this, he actually wasn't gaining much weight. HIs stomach was no longer toned like it had been in his 20's, but it was hard to put on a lot of weight when you were as active as he was. That was an unspoken perk of being a Were. He could eat more and not suffer the consequences.
At the talk of the pack, Bryan's smile wavered, but didn't completely disappear.
"They definitely don't seem very worried," he repeated. "I am though. I won't lie to you. I'm just hoping that this simply passes and fixes itself. Perhaps they will just grow bored of being here and move on. They haven't done anything that has cause for any real alarm, but of course you never know. Just make sure you're careful. Like I said, I don't trust them at all, and I especially wouldn't trust them to not pull something if you met them face to face." His face dropped now, looking a bit more serious. "I trust you though. We all do, not to freak you out. I'm sure you already knew that, but I wanted to remind you. Whatever you decide is best for us, I'll stand by you. If you need any help during all of this, you know you can always count on me. I just want this to pass."
For a moment, he just stared at the wall behind her, lost in thought. Then he seemed to snap out of it again, turning his attention back to her. "However, you'll have to find the pack to speak to them. Any luck on their location?"

corgi >> Lilah scoffed at Bryan even though he was only joking. "Losing your figure. Okay." He looked fine to her, but perhaps it was just the increased metabolism that weres had. It was something better they had by default. Chuckling, she said "Good thing you're a were then, hm? Lest you be a few sizes bigger." If a regular human had the diet of a were, or more like the appetite of one, they'd all look like beach balls by now. Smiling slightly, she continued "You look fine, Bryan."
She tilted her head as he continued. She quietly admitted "I'm worried too, as rogues usually would have moved on by now, but there's nothing we can do unless we confront and or capture them. They're elusive little pests though, and hopefully they stay as such." She knew they wouldn't though, and it was only a matter of time before they made a real bold move. When Bryan said that the town trusted her, she cracked another smile. "And I'm glad that you all do. Hopefully my judgement will prove beneficial in meeting on civil grounds with the pack, if they even agree to meet at all." She shook her head a little at his question. "No, unfortunately. They are almost impossible to find unless they want to be found, and that's only when they want trouble, not peace." She looked thoughtful for a moment, just thinking about where they ould possibly be. "They're probably staying in a neighboring town or something, or perhaps just outside where we usually do patrols. Who knows. I'm not sure we should waste our time sniffing around land that isn't even ours." Sure, if they used their animal form it would be a little easier to do so, but you could never be too sure about anything really.
"I'm just hoping we can come to some sort of agreement." If Westwood managed to arrange a meeting with the pack, what if they didn't want peace? What if they wanted to keep causing trouble? Keep hurting the local weres? Not that she would let that happen if they kept that up either way. Lilah would make sure of it. "Either way, Westwood needs to remain alert, and ready for any conflict. It would be almost comical if we truly were spooked and made fools of by a pack that has nowhere near the numbers to take us all on."

Kurai It was quite easy to get places when everyone only ever saw you in one image. So, there Silas was, casually walking around the small town of Westwood. The people there had only ever seen a wolf, and even then he hadn't ever been apart of a Westwood attack except once or twice. He liked to go after the regular humans in the neighbouring towns and cities. As he thought it all over, he continued to look around. To others, he was simply someone passing through, and such was no rarity. As his eyes flicked around, looking at small stores and homes, he took notice of a library. Having nothing else to do more or less, he changed his direction to walk toward the library, curious as to what it might have. Hopefully something about this town, but he doubted it. Settled weres were very secretive about their people and origins. Silas then shrugged, deciding the only way to find out was to go looking. So once he got inside, his eyes immediately scanned the area again. Looking over every bit his eye could see. He didn't even know where to look for the desired books though, so he decided to approach the woman there. His lips twitched slightly in an attempt at a smile. It remained so though, as none of the people in the town would ever get a real smile from him. "Got anything interesting among the older books here?" he asked curiously. "I'm just passing through, taking a break before moving on to my destination a few cities over. Might as well entertain myself with something, why not a book?"

Smokey Feather
The bell that signalled someone entering sounded. Cora made a mental note to remove it, the sound always seemed judgy to her, somewhat off-putting and instantly making visitors seem on edge. She raised her head to observe the newcomer, the one benefit of the bell being that she could observe customers before they could observe her. She had refreshed her coffee, caffeine being a vital component of her diet it was rare that her mug was empty for any length of time and one of the benefits of having a coffee machine behind the help desk. It was an addition of her own and not one the owner would necessarily approve of, but with the rest of the work the copper-headed woman had carried out to get the library back in to order it was an addition they would be loath to argue.
She took a sip of the beverage now, the heat enhancing the flavour and eliciting a small noise of enjoyment, before returning it to its rightful place and returning her attention to the male browsing the shelves. There were a couple of types of patrons, those who knew what they wanted and would ask for it; these were the easiest customers and also the most boring. They would approach the desk immediately, name the title or the subject and she would lead them directly to the shelf. Dull, predictable and unimaginative.
The second kind, and the most common, those who knew what they were looking for but were unwilling to ask for assistance. This was a slightly more amusing scenario. Usually, they would wander aimlessly until they either stumbled upon what they were looking for, gave up and asked for assistance, or perhaps the most amusing, picked up something that was clearly not what they were initially seeking to save face. These she most commonly engaged in discussion about the prose, watching them squirm as they pretended to be interested, knowing they would drop the book back in the returns bin as soon as they left the store.
The final category was her favourite, the one she often found herself in, and that was the browsers. Looking for nothing in particular, or looking for everything at the same time. Searching for escape in fiction or facts in encyclopedic tomes. The type that racked up fines because they could not bring themselves to part with the fictitious universe they had immersed themselves in.
This newest visitor blurred the lines between her carefully constructed categories. His direct approach made her assume he would fall into the first but not asking for something specific, perhaps he was more of a category 3. "Now that depends on your definition of interesting." She responded with a coy little smile, though his specification of older books piqued her own interest. There was certainly a good selection of older books here, though many were not on public display. Those of true age held value and were kept in a temperature controlled cell in the basement, where she carried out repairs, her little sanctuary.
