[pelicanstar was born into one of rainclan’s most esteemed bloodlines. the nephew of echostar, him and his brothers have always been praised for being special. pelicankit knew his place in the clan from an early age, and with his brother, ibiskit, chosen to be the rainreader, he knew what he had to do to live up to his family’s title. as an apprentice, he quickly made friends with the outgoing fairypaw, and the two became inseparable. he rose through the ranks as a warrior, and thought that echostar would choose him as a deputy. he was offended and jealous when his friend fairywing was chosen instead. however, this encouraged pelicanthroat to become an even better warrior in order to prove himself. when fairywing was sent to the moonpool, she chose him as her first deputy as soon as she returned. he was ecstatic, however, the high spirits were shattered mere moons later when fairystar fell from a cliff and into the jaws of a shark during a pointless battle that he had suggested. carrying the guilt of the death of his closest friend, his heart began to close and harden. things went from bad to worse when his brother, ternheart, left the clan a moon after his leadership ceremony, to be with his mate from dustclan- owlsong. just when pelicanstar thought he hit rock bottom, owlsong turned up dead, and ibiseye came to his den confessing to the murder. the two covered it up as the will of starclan. now, as rainclan suffers through one of the worst droughts in clan history, pelicanstar grows paranoid that starclan is punishing him and his brothers for all the crimes they’ve committed.


pelicanstar is an intense, driven leader. his leadership started with him blaming himself for fairystar’s death and there are rumors in the clan that he has never recovered from it. he has loud opinions and comes across as snobby and arrogant to the other clans and especially the other clan leaders. he puts his clan ahead of all, including other clans that could need his help. he’s fiercely persistent and strong-willed and will never be the one to give up a fight. he has some vengeful qualities, however, he also never forgets a kindness and always works to repay what he owes to other cats. he can be fiercely competitive, which worries some of his clanmates; although he has backed down from being as battle-happy as he used to be, some rainclan cats still worry about him being too aggressive and quick to fight. he doesn’t hesitate to speak his mind; which can be both a good and a bad thing. he refuses to let other people control him and, when he has a good idea, even refuses to let society’s rules keep him down. he loves being the center of attention. of course, he has his positives as well! he’s got quite the sense of humor and even his opponents in rainclan admit that his charm makes him good company. plus, cats can’t help but envy his loyalty to his clan.]

[ibiseye knew from birth that he had something his clanmates didn’t. his clanmates knew this as well, when scorpionsting, his mentor and friend, chose him to succeed him the day he opened his eyes. ibispaw had a certain air to him that cats could never place; he was quiet, diligent, and hard working. he seemed to fade in and out of clanlife, as most rainreader apprentices do, but cats noted that whenever he was around, he always acted and talked in a way that made him appear as if he was an elder, not a young kitten. serious and articulated, ibiseye always took his duty to heart. he had a strict moral code that he knew all cats should follow; thus was the word of starclan. if you asked ternheart, he would tell you that this got to his brothers head and changed him in a way that was worse for him than he knew. ibiseye’s judgement grew cloudy when he discovered that ternheart was sneaking around with a she-cat from dustclan. he interpreted every sign, every fall of rain, every vision he received to be starclan telling him to put the she-cat to death, which he finally did once his brother moved clans. with blood on his paws, he realized he was breaking the same moral code that he held the world to. in a panic, he reached out to his other estranged brother- pelicanthroat, now pelicanstar, to help him fix things. the two worked meticulously to plant signs and signals that could make the death appear as if she was crushed by falling rocks, and that it was the will of starclan for her to die. that is what happens to codebreakers. since then, his dreams have been littered with nightmares of remorse and guilt. he has been keeping to himself more than ever, and even has a hard time connecting with his apprentice. he knew the droughts were starting and desperately pleaded with his ancestors not to send them, but the clans entered the heat faster than ever. spiritually disconnected, plagued by what he did and even more confused than ever as to why he did it, ibiseye is alone.


by no means is ibiseye an evil cat. he is ambitious and has always been marked by a deep desire to pursue his destiny. his motivating force is a desire for success and authority, to fulfill what he knew the stars had mapped out for him. he always strives upward. he has always been a careful planner, and has even been compared to the legendary acaciastar in that regard. sternness and melancholy surrounds him in a way. he has a quick mind that’s always working, always thinking up something new. he is serious and lacks quite a bit of empathy. the medicine cats all agree, though, if he was a bit more empathetic, he could have made a great healer. he frequently isolates himself in nature, believing that he can only truly trust himself and starclan. overall, he is a determined and responsible cat, but its up to him not to let his pessimistic melancholy, and the guilt for owlsong, take over.]

[rosellaflight always felt like an outlier in rainclan society. maybe because she was an orphan; found on the banks of the river, dropped there by rogues, or loners, or twolegs, and left to die. when a rainclan patrol found her mewling in the reeds, they felt compelled to take her in- what other choice did they have? she was lumped into the rainclan nursery, her soft, fluffy red pelt unusual for rainclan cats. as an apprentice, she felt out of place- the other apprentices were bred through seasons to be warriors. herself? not so much. she was never the best hunter, or climber, or fighter. she felt average at everything she did. she shined, however, in places the other apprentices did not; tactical planning, deep thought, and assistance with the medicine cats and rainreaders. she has a deep sense of care and concern for other cats, and when she earned her warrior name, became known as one of rainclan’s most vocal advocates for pacifism. she was close friends with scorpionsting before his death at the hands of the twolegs, and the two discussed spirituality and the nature of the universe quite frequently. she attempted to get close with ibispaw, as well, but she always thought there was something offputting about him. she doesn’t trust pelicanstar too much but he frequently puts her in charge of strategy; she knows how to go into conflict yet avoid death at the same time. occasionally she feels ostracized by her clanmates because it’s easy to recognize that she comes from kittypet heritage, and some cats connect her to the twolegs. that association, in modern rainclan, is no good. she works hard to prove herself to the clan and not let things bother her too much. her goal is to help steer pelicanstar on the correct path.


rosellaflight is naturally intuitive, a strong, compassionate thinker, and a lot deeper than she might let on. she has a natural gift for understanding the way other cats think. she trusts her gut- its frequently right. she has an elusive personality, and she’s a popular topic for gossip in the other clans due to how otherworldly she seems. some cats even think she’s a starclan cat who came back to their world. occasionally, being a warrior is difficult for her; she has a high level of empathy and so fighting others is a struggle. this is one of the roots of her strong advocation for pacifism in the clans. occasionally, her sympathy is her downfall- she’s susceptible to any sobstory, any plea for help, occasionally going against the warrior code to help out those in need. occasionally she feels the desire to leave the clan and start anew when she witnesses the suffering, however, she never does because she knows that she would never find a better home. she has never felt the desire to take on any kind of leadership role, but in truth, many apprentices and kits, and even younger warriors, look up to her, even if they weren’t her apprentice. she likes being a sort of guide to the younger cats. she hopes that way, she can create a more peaceful generation. she’s warmhearted, sentimental, and loyal to her friends and those she cares about. she can be very protective over her loved ones, however, occasionally this can cross the line into possessiveness. she has a delicate and gentle heart, but will go into battle when she must; although she is more focused on aiding her clanmates than hurting others. she is also susceptible to moody and self-critical, pitying tendencies.]

[pythonpaw was born into rainclan on a stormy night; in any other clan, him and his siblings, flickerpaw and tealpaw, would be considered lucky to have even survived. but in rainclan, him and his littermates wore a brand of good fortune for all their lives. that is, until pythonpaw entered his apprenticeship and everything seemed to go downhill. his two siblings both died early on in apprenticeship- flickerpaw was crushed by a tree and tealpaw suffered from a snakebite. his superstitious mother began to see him as a magnet for bad luck instead of the good luck charm he was promised to be. ostracized by the rest of his family and many other clanmates who were more on the superstitious side, pythonpaw felt alone. he has few friends in the apprentice den, and there are even rumors that spread about him being the direct cause of his siblings' deaths. due to the large disconnect he feels in his own clan, he has taken to befriending apprentices from other clans. he gets along swimmingly with raypaw from bayclan and relates to the struggles of sootpaw from dustclan. however, pythonpaw is loyal to rainclan and would never think of leaving his clan.

despite all this, pythonpaw’s perseverance is probably his best trait. he refuses to surrender, and even in the face of adversity, continues to stubbornly determined. he has a relentless, steady drive; he might not be the one to start the war, but he will follow and never give up. simultaneously he is an immovable object and unstoppable force. he has a temper, although he rarely ever shows it… just be careful when it comes to talking about his siblings. he’s not looking for a challenge, but he’ll give one when he needs to. he is fierce and commanding when he’s angry; and with his ability to endure, you wouldn’t want to be the target of his rage. but most of the time, he’s just a kind, gentle boy. he loves everything beautiful and appreciates nature a lot. he collects shiny things like pretty rocks and smooth stones from the streams. naturally, he is energetic, and excitable, and optimistic. he likes to believe he can win some of his clanmates over and get his family to change their opinion on him. he’s fun to be around and whenever put in social situations always gives his full attention. of course, this is mostly at gatherings with the newer apprentices from other clans who don't know much about him. he has a burning passion for life itself. he hates feeling restricted, yet craves security at the same time. he performs very well under pressure, and has strong leadership abilities. he gets along well with other apprentices, due to his easygoing, gentle nature. he hopes to one day decorate his den with his collected pretty things. he’s very romantic and sweet and poetic. when it comes to speaking out, he’s strong-willed, outspoken, an original, which sometimes gets him into more trouble than its worth. he also has a tendency to exaggerate a lot. literally he’s just a good boy on main. please help him, he’s got trauma.]
