I'm having a pretty good day today guys, free from my rehabilitation, and off from work.
Anyways, what are your overall opinions toward the preview?
Personally, I'm a bit interested.

It's fine. I was really surprised to see what happened with Leafpool, and maybe Squirrelflight's Hope might shed some light onto what happened.
As for Shadowpaw, he seems fine so far, and poor Treekit's embarrassed by his dad. I'll also be looking to what Bristlefrost will be like.
And I NAILED it with some cats retiring to the ThunderClan elders' den. To be honest, I was hoping that Thornclaw would retire with his brother and sister.

I didn't really care for Shadowpaw at first honestly. I was worried he'd overshadow the other protagonist in this series, and his behavior as a kit was honestly very concerning. However, I find it interesting that he doesn't agree with his father's actions. I wonder if the Erins will expand on something along those lines when it comes to his personality. As for the retirees, I'm happy at some of them, I'm surprised that it seems like Leafpool and Millie kicked the bucket. But I wonder why Thornclaw hasn't retired yet? Maybe he's just being stubborn, like how Dustpelt was?

Thornclaw will only retire when a new patrol guy appears to take his place, the job is too important to leave unattended. But so far the book looks interesting, the prologue is short but I'm really curious now to know who is the cat, I don't think that is Ashfur, his vendetta is against specific cats after all, so my bet is an ancient cat from DotC.
Shadowpaw is doing well, his visions looks painful to himself and the seizures that come with it could put him in danger, I think that he have potential.
I will have to wait more to say something about Rootpaw, because in his first chapter he acts kinda like Alderheart, even the sister interaction, let's see how he will develop or if Kate confounding Alderheart with Rootpaw was not random.

I enjoyed it, although I prefer Rootpaw's POV over Shadowpaw. Shadowpaw's POV is meh while Rootpaw's is more interesting. I wonder how they'll do Bristlepaw/frost's, though.
