Before Vicky stopped writing the novellas, haven't you noticed that her writing is very detailed when it comes to darker topics?
For example, I just finished Spottedleaf's Heart last night and it felt like she genuinely enjoyed writing the book. The sentences were very detailed, as well as the emotions that Spottedpaw was going through in the book. Spottedpaw's trusting, childish personality depending on Thistleclaw was very well-written to me. This is actually one of my favorite Novellas now.
In Leafpool's Wish, Lionblaze was stuck inside her as she was giving birth. The scene felt long and detailed as well, with Yellowfang describing to Squirrelflight and Leafpool how she had to help.
In Mapleshade's Vengeance, as much as I disliked the book, it's probably the darkest one. The deaths were extremely detailed and extreme, especially Frecklewish's.
Hollyleaf's Story was also written well, with her memories constantly coming back to her as she kept feeling guilty for what she's done.
It just seems like the books became darker and darker as Vicky wrote them. I know Warriors is a dark series, but these topics were pretty serious that she wrote about, unlike the normal stuff we're used to (ex: patrolling, battles, cats killed by greencough, etc)

It's because Vicky pretty much gets a thrill out of dark shit.

Honestly the dark, angsty stuff is always more fun for me to write about when I write. So I can accept that.
