We all have that one character who gets a lot of bias in the fandom. Admit it, you're pretty biased too with one of your favorite characters. I can admit that so am I with a couple. Which character do you think has the most bias when it comes to debates? In my opinion, it is absolutely Ivypool. Maybe even Thistleclaw, too.

I agree with Thistleclaw having bias in the fandom. I’ve even seen people defend his actions in Bluestar’s Prophecy, just to bring Bluestar down. Bluestar isn’t my favorite character, but how can anyone defend Thistleclaw and his actions?

Breezepelt has a lot of bias imo. Forget the fandom he got a whole SE in his defense. A better name for Crowfeather’s Trial would have been “Breezepelt’s Bias”

Bluestar isn’t my favorite character, but how can anyone defend Thistleclaw and his actions? Because in the very same book, Bluestar gives up her kits and gets one of them killed because of Thistleclaw's supposed evilness prompting her to be leader at any cost. The problem is that while he's a jerk, he's not displayed as being evil enough to merit such drastic measures.

This is who would have become leader of ThunderClan had Bluestar not become deputy in time.

Needletail. And Tigerheart and Dovewing. Because apparently it’s ok for them to be selfish jerks and break tons of codes just to be happy but god forbid anyone else does it lol

Unless you mean editor bias if so Tigerheart gets a disgusting amount of that.

Above all, yes, it’s more editor bias, which in turn makes for certain fandom bias. People will claim Dovewing skipping clans and breaking codes is forgivable but will slander Twigbranch or Graystripe for it too. Again. It’s my opinion on what I’vd seen personally.

The problem is that while he's a jerk, he's not displayed as being evil enough to merit such drastic measures. While I would never defend abandoning kits to another Clan as Bluestar had, Thistleclaw was not just “a jerk” in BP. He was displayed as being battle-hungry against RiverClan (nearly killing another cat, threatening to ‘shred them where they fell’, etc.) training his apprentice too aggressively so that he was said to have been behind Tigerstar’s future ruthlessness, and goading on his apprentice to kill a kittypet who was only a kit. This is who would have become leader of ThunderClan had Bluestar not become deputy in time. Being battle hungry and aggressive isn't a good thing but it's not enough of a bad thing that Bluestar comes out looking good for what she did. That's the problem. If he'd been as bad as Blackfoot, actively kidnapping kits and murdering cats without a hint of remorse, then the argument could be made. Heck, he could be Russetfur level and still be more evil; at least she actually killed someone. Plus, it also adds greater moral complexity to Bluestar if some of her decision to take the kits out in the storm was driven by her own ambitions. Certainly that's implied to be the case in the first series, where she doubts if it was all worth it and it eventually drives her mad with guilt. It should be a complex issue and not one so simple as "Oh yeah, Thistleclaw was a savage and she was 100% in the right". If it was, then it vastly simplifies her emotions and gives her less guilt.

It should be a complex issue and not one so simple as "Oh yeah, Thistleclaw was a savage and she was 100% in the right". If it was, then it vastly simplifies her emotions and gives her less guilt. All Bluestar needed to do, was anyone other then Thistleclaw to be a deputy. It didn't especially need to be her. There were so many options. She could of easily talked to Sunstar, yet she never bothers. Or give her kits to another Queen. At the very least, wait to transport the kits on a safer night. It didn't especially need to be the night of the Snowstorm. The deputy ceremony didn't actually happen until a moon afterwards. Bluestar dragging her kits through a snowstorm seemed the most extreme and unnecessary option. I think you're right Vector, when it comes to Bluestar's underlining ambitions affecting her choose. Sunstar even admitted: Her kits' sacrifice wasn't even worthwhile. As it's didn't Guarantee anything, merely lowing the possibility of Thisteclaw becoming Leader. Even then, it was only by a small margin, considering it's only opened up 1 extra option for the Deputy position - Which would be a grieving mother who lost all her children a month ago. With the knowledge he had, Sunstar picking Bluefur almost seems cruel. And no matter what Bluefur tries to tell herself otherwise, this was purely for her own ambitions. Bluefur always had her mind set on the Leadership postion.
