She exhaled out into the crisp air as she stepped out of the taxi. As the noises of the traffic behind her began to fill in her ears, a small smile settled itself onto her face. It had been a while since she visited a city and now, she was going to live in one. The prospects of having a fresh start were exciting to her; she needed one desperately.
Ducking down and paying the taxi cab driver her bill, she tucked a strand of her messy, ebony waves behind a heavily pierced ear. She gave him a grateful smile before he drove off with a thanks in tow. She stepped onto the sidewalk in front of the apartment building she was going to reside in with another female such as herself. She didn't have much expectations, really, in becoming friends with her roommate. People rarely approached her to become acquaintances. Hell, people rarely approached her at all. But they had seemed to hit it off okay the two times they had previously met. Honestly, nothing could be as bad as her experiences in the college dorm. So, her expectations were low.
Shouldering the leather bag on her back and maneuvering the suitcase at her side, Angelique made her way to the doors of the building, using the small key that was sent to her in the mail a few weeks ago. The lock clicked and she slipped inside with one swift movement, looking behind her to make sure the door had closed behind her. It wouldn't be good to have a stranger enter, now would it?
Satisfied, she took her time up the steps, her suitcase posing to be a problem. The rest of her stuff was mailed to the apartment a few days ago, and she hoped the her roommate wasn't too bothered with the boxes. Angelique had quite a number of personal items that she had to bring along with her to settle into the new apartment.
It took her quite a bit, but she finally arrived on the floor she was going to be residing on. Taking in a small breath, she prepared herself for whatever was to come. She could do this, she was a member of the Ivankov family. What was out there that she couldn't accomplish?

It had been about a week since Indigo had "moved in." That highly depended against one's definition of that phrase, however. Because, yes, she had been sleeping in the very open, very glass-filled, very bright, apartment, but she hadn't been doing much else. Food? There was a little cafe just outside the building. Entertainment? Movie theaters, laser tag places, reenactments right out on the street (it was a big city, weird things happened), and best of all, the beach! Just a few blocks away, in fact. Not to mention parties galore.
To become more familiar with Belcoast City, Indi had been spending her time conversing with anyone she could and somehow getting herself invited to numerous parties. She was pretty fresh out of college anyways, her partying habits had ceased to die down. Just last night, she was at this one party and- oh boy. That was a fun one! By the time she had stumbled in last night, probably only a drink away from blacking out, she had simply flopped on to the air mattress set out in her soon-to-be bedroom, only bothering to place her beer bottle neatly beside the bed, before crashing.
Indi was a heavy sleeper. Nothing woke this girl up. And when she was recovering from heavy drinking? The world would have to be ending to rouse her.
The world ending, or a very loud someone trudging up the steps. Indigo was jolted awake from a particularly loud landing of what her drowsy mind managed to assume was a suitcase. Her eyes snapped wide open. Oh. Oh shoot. Ah! She clumsily pawed around beside the air mattress to find her glasses, slapping them on to her face. Grabbing the bottle and her phone- geez, she had slept late -she hurried towards the door, haphazardly tossing the bottle into the only trashcan she had set up, lazily placed in the middle of the kitchen. She shoved her phone into her back pocket, taking a last glance around the apartment, hand on the doorknob. About the only thing she had bothered to do was to keep the boxes of her roommate's things tidily stacked around the rooms. She had no plans to be an [rear end] of a roommate.
Finally, she tugged the door open, a grin spreading across her face at the sight of her roomie. One quick glance up and down, and suddenly Indi realized that she probably didn't look her best at the moment. In fact, she had to look awful, her clothes from last night crumpled from sleep and hair a tangled mess. Angelique looked like she had been a productive human being all morning, even looking a little worn from pulling the suitcase up the steps. Their apartment was set up in such a manner that one door at the street level led to the stairs, where the stairs led up to the actual apartment, complete with another door. Extra protection or something? Indi thought it was stupid.
Alas, it was not the time to complain about the odd design choices of the builders. No! Now was social time! Even if her head felt like an entire zoo of gorillas were beating at her skull, she was going to make a good first impression as a proper roomie, rather than someone at coffee shop, as their first few meetings had been. "Hello!" Great, good, greetings were good. She gestured to Angelique's bag. "Do you uh- need any help with that?"

To say she was surprised at her roommate's sudden appearance at the door.. well, that would be an understatement. She was completely startled at the other girl's rapid movement in thrusting open the door, a grin lighting up her features as soon as her eyes took in Angelique's form in front of her. How could someone be so cheerful, yet have such a disheveled attire such as hers? Angelique felt confusion and admiration all at once towards the girl standing before her.
Compared to her, Angelique must have looked so prim and proper. Well, as prim and proper as her closet would allow her. She mainly wore outfits that her mother used to call "something a Gothic stripper would wear." She blinked her cobalt eyes, trying to comprehend the other's words and trying to rid herself of the confusion that was continuing to envelop her as the seconds etched by. "Help..?" She repeated, a soft Russian accent lacing into her tone. "Nyet. I can handle this myself. I lugged it all the way up those steps, rolling it inside is nothing." She gave a thumbs up to reassure her roommate, the numerous amount of rings that decorated her fingers clinked together as she performed the childish action.
"I see you've had a rough morning, huh?" She questioned, amusement seeping into her voice as she had more time to take in Indigo's appearance. She also wanted to further the conversation somewhat, not wanting to come off as rude and brash. But then again, maybe her choice of topic wasn't the best one she could've chosen. "You do know it's 2 in the afternoon, right? Just a forewarning, I'm not much of a late sleeper, so..." She trailed off, shrugging her shoulders as if not knowing what to say. Resting her body against a nearby wall, she took a piece of her wavy hair and twirled it around a finely pointed, manicured nail. "So, I'll be out of your hair for my early jog every other morning. If I'm not out, I'll keep to myself in my room until you wake up." She finished with a earnest smile. "I have no desire to wake you up, really."

Indi frowned a little when her offer was turned down, shutting the door behind the girl as she stepped inside. She wasn't sure if she was being insensitive by only asking to help when all the hard work was done, hoping Angelique didn't think she had intended offense. She bit her lip nervously in the moment free from her roomie's gaze, back turned. Even though they knew each other- if briefly -she was still finding this to be incredibly awkward.
Spinning back around, the slightly-taller-than-average girl self-consciously glanced downwards, fixing her glasses. Considering she normally wore contacts, the black frames seemed to emphasize her "disheveled"-ness in her mind. Nonetheless, her smile remained bright and pearly, a breathy giggle spilling from her lips. "Ah, yeah, guess you could say that. I've been getting acquainted with the city, so to speak." A hand reached up to run through her, though it didn't make it far. Yeah, she was a real mess right now.
"No! No, please, don't worry about waking me up. Seriously, be as loud as you want in the mornings. I don't usually wake up this late just, uh... well, y'know. Alcohol is one hell of a sleep drug." Jokes were good, right? Angelique didn't seem quite the humor kind of person, but perhaps it could ease some of the silent tension in the air. "Hey, you need any help unpacking? I've got all my things already set up which-" she waved a hand around the room. "as you can see, is not very much. So I'm all hands on deck for you!"

{{ lol, that's quite alright!! have such a fun time with that homework!! c; }}
When the other offered her assistance in unpacking Angelique's stuff, she hesitated for a moment. There were some private things in these boxes, scattered amongst the cardboard. What would her roommate say if she saw them? Things wouldn't end so well. Also, she had no desire in being an immediate burden to her roommate, but wasn't it polite to accept the offer? It would give them a chance to bond as well, right? After all, the two of them were going to be living together. It was best to start this as soon as possible.
"That sounds really good to me, thank you." She sent Indigo a grin, her sharpened canines glinting in the sun's rays that filtered through the apartment. She turned around and leaned her head back to take a small glimpse into her room and gave a small hum of approval. It was spacious enough; there was enough room to hold everything. Except, she had brought some of her paintings and decorum to make the place seem more.. lived in. "I hope you don't mind I've brought some stuff to make this place seem more lively." She chose her words carefully, not wanting to offend her new roommate. She pulled her hair back into a ponytail, knowing full well that the wavy hair would prove to be a problem when she worked. The undercut underneath her hair showed briefly, the artistic pattern making itself known.
She had parts of her bed sent up to the apartment as well, quite picky with where she slept. She liked decorating her room and would probably spend days to have it the way she wanted. Picking up a smaller box with one hand, she began to roll her suitcase behind her into her new room. "Just choose any box you can handle, alright? I should probably start with building my bed again and I might need some extra hands with that!"
Her backpack began to move around and make a slight noise. She made a shushing sound, abruptly quieting the small mews that seemed to resonate from within. Angelique hadn't discussed pets with Indigo and hoped that the girl was kind enough to accept Angelique's feline into her life.
