Nothing could get passed the hyper vigilant tom, he could pick out his mate's scent, and her fur from a mile away in a crowd. So, he saw her lurch into camp, hugging along the sides as though attempting not to be found. His fur prickled anxiously. She's doing it again... He thought to himself, stiff for a moment. Did she not want to see him...? She had been doing this for days, he couldn't watch her drift apart from him. Although there was storm of emotion in his chest, Batwing's eyes didn't show a glimpse of it. He carried himself strongly towards his mate, she could hear his powerful paws approaching him, and then his voice ring out in it's usual monotone, deep, tone. "There you are. Where have you been? I'm not mad, but you are precious to this clan, and as your mate, and as a trusted warrior, I would like to know where you are when you venture out alone." His pitch didn't shift, he was as straightforward as ever. But, the soft touch of his tail to her flank, and the way that he shifted closer to her was the only small show of emotion that differentiated how he talked to his mate, and how he talked to his peers.
Today must have been Hillsnag's lucky day, because as she was peering through the rocks and grass, she caught the shadowy, smokey figure of a cat in the distance, staring out to the sea. The cat stood on the shore, with the tide licking her paws, and her long fur buffeted by the ocean breeze. She sat there, stiff, not moving, but then suddenly her head turned towards Hillsnag, and even from this distance, their bright, brooding yellow eyes could be seen...

Managing reasonably well to not seem surprised by the sudden voice of her mate, the business of camp had dulled the shecat's senses in their attempts to pick out approaching ones. Her multicoloured expression remained its normal neutral, the milky blue of her unseeing gaze glittered unnervingly in the bright afternoon sunlight. She stilled with a quiet sigh, seemingly her attempts had been quashed but the dissapointment was forced from her tone as Wildrose turned her attention to the tom. "Good afternoon," she greeted in turn with a flick of her tail. Shrugging her shoulders at his persistent questioning, though the way she shifted her weight from one side of her body to the other. Casual restlessness which might have seemed meaningless to anyone who didn't know the calm shecat well. "I've been fine," she replied quietly, allowing her coat to intermingle with his as she pressed close to him before pulling away again to sit down with a soft thud. "Really there has been no need to worry," as odd as the two were, Wildrose knew her mate well. She could pick up on the unspoken concern to his words. "The weather has been growing warmer, so I've been enjoying some time practicing swimming." The lie was a convincing one, for the task was one of few activities the blinded prophet could enjoy without another to help her. There were far less things to run into at open water, and as long as she orientated herself properly, she was usually fine. She allowed her tongue to rasp across his ear for a split second. "You should surely know by now I'm not entirely useless."[/sub

Hillsnag's eyes narrowed as she stared back at the cat. She slowly padded towards them, her expression dubious as she drew closer to the cat. I wonder how they noticed me, She thought as she reached the cat. "Hello." She started, her eyes fixed on the cat. "What a coincidence we were both here at the same time. Who are you?"

"Of course, I know you are not useless." Batwing's posture stiffened, as though he were growing a bit defensive. But it was hard not to be, Batwing's nerves were making him quick to jump to assumptions, but before he could get carried away he calmed himself, and cleared his throat. "I am simply..." He didn't want to say worried, as that seemed a bit too emotional for the way he usually presented himself. But the long pause showed that he was having a hard time finding another word. "Looking out for the clan's best interest. It is very important that a member in such a high position be safe, a and comfortable at all times. If there is anything ailing you, do not hesitate to let me know, I am eager to diffuse any problem." He spoke to her not only as a mate, but as someone of high authority. Batwing was always respectful of those in a higher rank than he, and it still seemed present before his mate. Things weren't always this... Stiff between them though, on their own Batwing's walls came down a bit, and he could actually relax in front of Wildrose. But in camp was a whole 'nother story.
The cat's eyes gleamed suspiciously, her head tilted, for a moment she was silent, staring Hillsnag up and down as though evaluating her. She doesn't know who I am...? Was she not there for the incident? Regardless, this was a golden opportunity. "My name is of no importance," She said casually, turning her body so she was facing Hillsnag completely. "What is important is you. Do you come from the clan?" Her expression and tone was neutral, nothing about her seemed hostile, yet all the while her mind was concocting a plan...

Mousebrain. In an act of kindness she kept the half joking insult to herself, part of her ached to tell him her secret. Keeping anything from him felt unnatural, for Batwing would normally be the one cat she would share everything with without hesitation, but keeping away from him - even for the naturally secretive shecat, hurt like she'd lost part of her heart. But still the need to keep the secret burned in her heart. She remembered the story of her predecessor's ill fated litter all too well, and she didn't want a similar fear burdening the tom cat's shoulders as well as her own. The calico shook her head with a soft sigh, hating his overly formal tone, wishing for the privacy of the territory where they could be theirselves. But even Wildrose no longer felt like herself these days. Not wanting an argument, for her mind was concentrating too hard on everything else to even find the words to form one. She allowed her mate to continue on, tripping over his words like a newborn stumbled over their feet. It was endearing to the quiet prophet, even with the world's burdens weighing down her shoulders. "Well I'm fine," she meowed when at last he finished. Lifting herself to her paws once again and gesturing for him to follow if he so wished, hoping for a while together even if the secret continued to be her own. "Though my day would be made all the more better if you were to accompany me outside camp?" She offered with an almost playful tone. Mimicking the formality of her tone surprisingly well, blind eyes strengthened her hearing, and her tongue picked up voices well.

((Oh, question! Will both Medicine Cat Apprentices be mentored by both Medicine Cat, or will each Medicine Cat mentor one Apprentice?))
~Brightfeather - Camp - Coalfang (UnsightlyHeretic831 )~
Brightfeather felt a sigh escape his lips from where he sat near the edge of Camp. He was watching Batwing and Wildrose from the corner of his eye, sequestered in the shadows. Both cats had seemed unusually restless the past few days and, while Brightfeather hoped they both knew they could speak with him if they were troubled, he also knew that some things had to be worked out without a Deputy's interference.
Getting to his paws and shaking out his sleek fur, the tom left his comfortable shadows and made his way to the centre of Camp. The sun shone on his fur, sparking colours within it as he approached the Warrior's Den. "Coalfang?" He rumbled, sticking his head into the Den, "Are you there?"

~Pebblesplash - Camp - Open~
Pebblesplash yawned widely as she stretched out in a lovely piece of late afternoon sunshine. Though not on the Dawn Patrol, she had been out hunting earlier and had been taking a brief nap, just in case she was chosen for the Dusk Patrol. Now awake and slightly bored, she wriggled in the warm patch of sunlight, purring at the feel of it on her sleek, tidy fur. Long legs stretched out, kneading at the soft grass. Bored she may be, but the young she-cat couldn't help but admit that she was incredibly comfortable right now.
~Windpaw - Camp - Open~
Within the Medicine Cat Den, a small furry face was scrunched up in thought as delicate paws gently shifted through the herbs in front of the silver cat. The herbs before her were old and rather useless, freshly sorted from the stores and ready to be replaced later. For now, Windpaw hummed in thought as she went through the names and properties of them in her head, repeating each several times to further entrench it in her memory before moving on. All of the ones she was allowed to touch were ones she had already learned of and all were completely harmless. Sighing, the she-cat moved to store the herbs in a corner, out of the way and ready to be disposed of once their store had been replaced. The herbs were old and had lost much of their healing ability, but they would still do in an emergency. Task done, she glanced around the Den, wondering where her Mentors were. She had an urge to learn something new or at least do something useful.

Batwing relaxed at the thought of being out alone with his mate, a prospect he wouldn't have brought up on his own, so he was relieved that she had asked him. "Of course. I shall escort you wherever you wish, prophet." His tail twined in hers, holding onto her tightly, in a show of his affection, but also to guide her. He knew that she didn't need it, but... It appeased his own worries. The smokey grey tom was overbearingly protective, he'd growl at a puddle if it seemed threatening enough to Wildrose.
From across the camp, Lavabubble spotted Pebblesplash resting leisurely in the warm rays of the late afternoon sun. His paws had already started towards her, but he slowed, rummaging over something to say to her in his head. Something... Something clever! Something... Alluring. His eyes glittered with determination as he settled on something, his paws guiding him all the way up to her, his large form casting a shadow over her slumbering frame. "Ahem," He puffed out his chest to make himself look extra big, and once he was sure he had gotten her attention, continued. "I wish I were cross-eyed so I could see you twice." His tone was almost drowning with flirtation.

Brushing close to him for a heartbeat, holding the brief but affectionate contact before pulling away to avoid causing him discomfort from their public dis0ay of affection. Her unseeing eyes rolled in amusement as he guided her away like she was a lost it without its mother, but she voiced no complaint for the time being, knowing for the most part it was more for his benefit than it was for hers. She knew her way around camp better than most, more used to it’s crevices and crannies for if she didn’t shed more often than not fall prone to injury if she didn’t build her knowledge of it all. But as frustrating as it could sometimes be, she appreciated her mates tentativeness, he had a way of making it endearing that on another cat would have made her tempted to claw the ears off of. Following his lead through camp, swishing her tail as a sign she wasn’t entirely happy with the arrangement but saying nothing to appease his wishes. Soon she felt the term underfoot change from the soft and well trodden surface of camp to the harsher terrain fo the world outside. The wind felt fresh on her calico coat and it brought the tantalising scent of prey and trees. She couldn’t help the smile that it brought to her otherwise calm expression, she couldn’t imagine a happier place in a world than in the embrace of a loved one. “How has your day been?” Her words carried a newfound softness that wouldn’t often be heard in the company of anyone but Batwing. “Anything too exciting been happening?”

A positive, and sometimes negative quirk of Batwing's was that he always cut straight to the point. If something on his mind he'd say it, and he wouldn't dance around the subject. Thus, he didn't hesitate as he said his next words. "Things have been fine, they've been great, there have been no issues, but what ails you? I saw you try to sneak past me earlier as if you wished I hadn't seen you, it feels as though you have been dodging me for days." His voice didn't rise with anger, Batwing could never ever bring himself to shout at Wildrose. The smokey tom just focused on trying to make himself not sound too panicked, but the blind prophet could pick up on it by the slight waver in his voice. "You know you can talk to me about anything, my little flower..." He affectionately called her one of his many pet names, his flank sliding closer to hers until their fur was brushing against one another. "So please... What is wrong?"

~Pebblesplash - Camp - Open~
One grey-green eye opened to peer lazily up at Lavabubble. "Good afternoon to you too, Lavabubble," Pebblesplash replied, amusement lacing her light voice, "I'm surprised you'd want anything that would alter your appearance, even for a she-cat." Stretching one more, Pebblesplash rolled onto her stomach, tail flicking lazily as a low, drawn-out purr of a mew escaped her muzzle. Sighing deeply, the she-cat smiled up at her fellow Warrior. While she could do without the flirting, she liked Lavabubble well enough. "Since you are blocking my sunlight," She meowed teasingly, tail curling, "I suppose I shall have to talk to you. What have you been up to today, bar your usual flirting of course?"

The slender calico pulled free of her mates grasp when his next question parted the space between them, she stiffened with a flinch at his pressing. She wished more than anything that he would simply leave the topic be, she knew at some point the secret would come out but the simple matter was she didn’t want to put him through the pain and uncertainty that would come with honesty. His words, and the tone of voice behind them broke the pretty shecat heart, it seemed no matter what he did it only caused the ones she loved more pain, and that was the last thing she wanted to any of this. The prophet paused in her movements, sitting down with a soft sigh tugging free of her lips. “I’m pregnant.”

Coalfang - LycaoniaHuh? Who's that? Coalfang opened his eyes and blinked groggily. " Now I am." He called. " I'm getting up." He stood up and shook each of his legs in turn, then padded outside. He squinted at the sudden bright light of the sun. " Hello, Brightfeather," He greeted the tom formally. " How are you?"

~Brightfeather - Camp - Coalfang (UnsightlyHeretic831 )~
Brightfeather chuckled slightly, moving backwards out of the Den as the Warrior emerged. "Sorry to wake you, Coalfang," He rumbled, sitting and curling his tail around his legs, "But it's beginning to get a bit late and I'd like you to lead the evening patrol. Pick two or three others and check the borders. We have few Outsiders around these days, but they've all been strangely well behaved lately." The Deputy scowled slightly, thinking of the cats banished from AbyssClan. Shaking his head, he glanced back at Coalfang. "Try to be back before the sun sets. I'll be asking a few cats to take out hunting patrols as well and I want everyone back in Camp for nightfall truly comes upon us." Brightfeather didn't know what was making him wary, but a dark feeling lingered in the back of his mind, making him edgy and almost skittish.

Coalfang dipped his head. "Of course. I'll set off now." He glanced around, and called, "Is there anyone who wants to go on the evening patrol? Three max for this one!" He sat down and smoothed his fur until it was sleek and shiny, then he looked around once more.

"Of course. Why do you ask?"
Hillsnag's fur rippled in the wind, and her brow was slightly furrowed in confusion. "Don't ask too many questions, or else I'll get suspicious. You should know that already, if you've met any other cats." She stated and flicked her tail casually. "I've never met a rogue, but I know exactly what to do in these cases, specifically cats like you, who hide around our territory.." There was an edge in her voice and a strange unreadable glint in her eye. It sounded like an open threat. Without saying it openly, Hillsnag wanted to warn her not to get too close or to get too nosy. "We don't own the whole island, you know. You can move off our territory. Not saying I want you to, but you can do it if you don't want constant trouble." Hillsnag flicked one ear.
