Plumpaw lowered her head, scowling a little. "Okay," she agreed reluctantly, "but fish still taste awful." She didn't want to disappoint her mentor, and Streamheart had a point, so she obediently crouched over the fish and ate the last few mouthfuls. When she'd done she stood up and shook her head, nose wrinkling in disgust. A shudder ran through her body. "I'm done," she informed Streamheart, raising her head to look up at the silver tabby warrior.

Scorchkit squeaked wordlessly at the sight of Sunstar looming over them. His paralysis didn't last long, however - as soon as Sunstar asked 'shouldn't you be with your mother?' indignation took over.
"We're a moon old!" he protested. "We can explore!" Then he realized that this was the leader of StormClan and he shut his mouth immediately. "S-sorry," he mumbled. ~~ A rumble echoed in Quailfang's chest. "I know," he said. "Judging by the smell earlier, it already has." Redwing's kits were only a moon old, and with Dawnfeather expecting - by the smell of it, this creature could eat them all in a single bite. He shuddered. "Perhaps it's passing through. The trail we found wasn't moving in the direction of camp," he pointed out, although privately he thought that even if the creature weren't deliberately stalking StormClan, it would be hard-pressed to ignore such a large cluster of potential food.
He flicked his tail. "We're halfway done," he pointed out. "Come on." He set off at a lope, giving the strange nest a wide berth as he followed the line of the StormClan border back towards camp.

Owlswoop nodded with a loud purr. He had never seen the other tom so determined or with so much energy before. The new energy in the air only served to make Owlswoop more excited. He did realize they might have been too loud earlier to stay in the area. Well, it might have been all him but they would have had to move anyways. With a flick of his tail, he started to pad away. "Let's see if we can find a rabbit or hare. They move fast but they are a full meal for any cat and really show off your skills." He said to Breezebounce without looking back. He scented the air in hopes of catching the scent of one of those creatures.
---
Spottedkit silently watched the large tom as they walked over to them. She thought he looked over at them but if they stood really still then maybe they wouldn't be noticed. She still wasn't sure why they couldn't be noticed but she did know her brother didn't want them to be found and that was good enough for her. Though, right now, she was more concerned that maybe he wouldn't see them and trip on them. Was he going to stop or move? To her surprise, the tom stopped right in front of them and crouched. A bit intimated by his stare and size, the kit's fur puffed up slightly and she took a step back.
The kit blinked at the tom's question. She opened her mouth to answer when her brother answered. Instead of words, a gasp escaped her mouth. She looked between the two of them, expecting the older cat to get mad and scold Scorchkit. Thankfully, her brother seemed to almost instantly regret his words. She sighed in relief and stepped up. "We came out to see the camp. Redwing is sleeping so we can't wake her up." She answered with a squeak.

Copperthroat gazed at the three cats coolly, and noticed the glint in Badgertuft's eyes. "Well," she started, and faltered. It was true that hunting should be the first priority because of the now thawing landscape, but Oakpaw was still young. She cocked her head to the side, a nervous habit, and remembered that she could just request apprentices to work together at a later date anyway. "Go ahead and take Snowpaw for hunting, it's important after all. Don't worry," she then mewed, eyeing Snowpaw's disappointment. "I'll ask Badgertuft if you and Oakpaw can work together once he's acquired some more skills if you want." She glanced up at Badgertuft, hoping she wouldn't have intruded on him. "As for you, we can start with a warm-up and then go from there, but we're going to be mainly focusing on defensive moves for today," she meowed at Oakpaw.

Sunstar's face softened as he purred, a quiet rumble in the back of his throat. "Well, little ones, you certainly seem like fine young warriors," he told them, curling his tail. His body vibrated with amusement at Scorchkit's outburst and the large tom laughed, eyes sparkling. "You certainly are," he agreed, "but not without supervision. Would you like me to take you to see the elders?" Spending time with the kits would be a good thing, Sunstar reasoned; he knew that there was worry among the members of his Clan regarding his emotional and mental state at the moment, and this might begin to remedy that. It would also keep his mind occupied and help him adjust to his new role as leader of StormClan. "What are your names, little ones?" the ginger tom asked, getting to his paws. He had not yet had the chance to visit Redwing and discuss her kits as Flightstar would have done, but he was keen to do so as soon as possible. Flightstar's great involvement with the Clan was largely what had made her such an excellent leader, and Sunstar was eager to mirror his predecessor.
Breezebounce padded after Owlswoop, elongating his stride to catch up with the other tom. When he fell into step beside his friend he slowed and parted his jaws to taste the air. "We'll have to go to the edge of the forest, across the river," he said, "there's a warren by the far border." He remembered chasing a rabbit out from that very warren not too long ago - he had been the skinniest cat on the patrol and so was unanimously voted as the one who would enter the warren. He shuddered, remembering the dark, cramped tunnels inside. Hopefully that won't happen again, he thought, nerves a little rattled. It wasn't long before he was able to pick up the splash of the river as the water bounced off the elevated banks by that part of the woods which was on a steady incline. The grey tom pushed his way through a clump of ferns and emerged onto the bank, staring down at his reflection in the water below. At this point, there was only a very narrow stretch of grass between the edge of the drop-off embankment and the treeline, so they would have to be careful. There was a shallow point in the water a bit further upstream that they could use to cross to the other side, but the river seemed to be flowing rather swiftly today, which made Breezebounce rather uneasy.

Scorchkit perked up. "I'm Scorchkit!" he announced. "This is Spottedkit," he added, pointing at his sister with his tail. "Stormkit's still asleep," he added, pouting slightly. He liked his sisters, but Stormkit could be so boring sometimes.
He glanced at Spottedkit. "Swiftstrike tells good stories," he meowed quietly. "I know you wanted to explore, but..." He shrugged. "It's Sunstar."

"Strong names for strong young cats," Sunstar praised, twitching an ear. He couldn't help but pick up on the kits' obvious disappointment at not being able to explore, and a part of him was tempted to give into their wishes. "If it's exploration that you want, little ones, I'll let you take a look around the gathering rock and my den on the way to the elders' den," he compromised. He would keep a close eye on the kits until Swiftstrike could watch them for a little while, then he would head out as soon as Quailfang and Silverstrike returned and relayed any more information regarding the mysterious scent to him. He beckoned the kits with a flick of his tail-tip and began to make his way across the camp towards the gathering rock.

Mossfoot padded out of the warriors den, stretching and letting out a small yawn. She knew everyone would be out and about doing their duties, but she was still recovering from a nasty injury she received a few sunrises ago while on patrol. She was making a nice recovery and had been moved back to the warriors' den, to her pleasure. She scanned camp briefly before ambling over to Sunstar and the kits, limping slightly. She flicked her tail in greeting.

Owlswoop heard the quick pace of the stream as they approached but didn't worry too much about it. The river was always a little fast around this time of year. No cat had gotten hurt in a while. He didn't think a second more about it. Until he saw how long Breezebounce was staring at the water. Well, he understood the slight unease, he didn't like to get his paws wet himself, but there was really nothing to worry about. Owlswoop was sure of this. Starclan knew he would show this to his friend too. "Don't worry! I will go first." The tom announced as he padded upstream. He dipped his paw in, suddenly glad for the sunny day warming the waters, before slipping in another. Slowly, he placed all of his paws into the water and stood up straight. The water brushing against his belly was...terrible. Still, he forced a purr and started to pad across the stream. "Nothing to it," he grinded out.
---
Spottedkit stayed quiet as the leader started to lead them to his den. She really wanted to explore different place with just her brother but Scorchkit seemed happy now that they found the leader and the group was already moving. She didn't think there was much of a choice. Her tail twitched but she kept her mouth shut. Supervised exploration didn't seem as fun as just the two of them exploring but maybe it would still be okay. Sunstar seemed nice and visiting Swiftstrike meant nice stories in comfy nests.
She slowed to a stop when a grey she-cat approached them. Now, who was this? Her scent seemed familiar but she didn't remember a name. The kit stared at the warrior, as if this would help her remember.

Mossfoot dipped her head to Sunstar. She then turned her attention to the small kit who stared up at her. Her voice was deep, but soothing and gentle. "Mrrw... Hello, little one," she mewed. "I don't believe we've formally met. My name is Mossfoot." She twitched her whiskers amiably.

Redwing drifted back to consciousness with a vague sense of loss. As she opened her eyes, that sense of loss quickly transformed into fear - she shot to her feet, disturbing the napping Stormkit, and shouldered her way out of the nursery. She was about to shout for Scorchkit and Spottedkit when she spotted them trailing after Sunstar and her fur - standing out all across her pelt like a massive tortoiseshell furball - slowly flattened. She laid down in the entrance, grooming Stormkit absently as she kept one eye on her other two children. As long as they were with other cats, she supposed it would be all right... She was still going to scold them. But mostly she was just relieved they hadn't snuck out of camp. ~~ Scorchkit practically bounced as Sunstar led them over to his den, tail waving in the air. He bumped shoulders with Spottedkit, beaming. "It'll be cool," he promised. "You'll see! We can look at more stuff later." He looked up as a grey she-cat approached, limping slightly, and introduced herself as Mossfoot. "Hi," he blurted out. "I'm Scorchkit." He blinked, peering at the leg Mossfoot was favoring. "Are you hurt?"

Mossfoot gave a soft smile to Scorchkit. "Well, yes, but I'm healing. Brackenberry has been taking good care of me." She hoped that her injured leg wouldn't spook the kits out too much. "What are you three up to?" She tilted her head slightly.

Sunstar briefly met Streamheart's eyes as the pretty tabby left the camp with her apprentice, and he could've sworn that was amusement on her face as she watched him. He shook his head, turning his attention back to his tiny companions. At Mossfoot's greeting he glanced up. "Good day, Mossfoot," he returned the she-cat's greeting warmly, "how's your leg faring? I was just about to take the little ones to see Swiftstrike so they don't get themselves in trouble," he explained with a hint of a purr in his voice. The ginger tom felt another pair of eyes on him, and on instinct he peered over his shoulder; he was met by the sight of Redwing lying down in the entrance of the nursery, her eyes closely trained on her kits. I'll have to apologise later, he realised, his ears twitching. "My den is just under there," he pointed to the opening tucked just underneath the gathering rock, "you can have a look inside if you'd like, little ones."
Plumpaw nodded, short legs working double-time to keep up with her mentor. "Okay," she agreed with a shrug, "are we practicing battle moves?" While she did like hunting, it got rather boring when she wasn't able to catch anything for ages, and separating all those scents from one another was a lot of effort; she much preferred battle training, because then she could get stronger! She had yet to actually beat Streamheart yet but she was determined. While her mind wandered she found herself back in the camp as they'd been leaving and remembered the way Streamheart had looked at Sunstar who had been with Redwing's kits. A mischievously curious urge swept her, and she stifled a giggle. "Streamheart," she began, "what do you think of Sunstar?"
Breezebounce could barely watch as Owlswoop made the crossing, but when the boxy tom announced that he'd made it to the other side, he felt a surge of relief. He made his way hesitantly to the crossing point and slowly lowered a paw into the water, wincing as the liquid lapped at his fur. "I hate the river," he grumbled, a shudder running through his body. He placed a second paw in, and then a third and fourth, and quickly bounded across to the other side. When he reached dry land he immediately shook out his pelt and shivered, thankful that he didn't have to stay in the water for long; the river was StormClan's most reliable year-round source of prey, but Breezebounce couldn't imagine solely having to fish rather than chasing forest prey - especially in leafbare. He perked up as the familiar scent of rabbit his his nose. "We're almost there!" he exclaimed in a whisper-like tone, waving his tail.

Turning away from the busy tom before he scared something else away, Sootnose padded in the direction of the camp. He occasionally smelled the air and tasted it with his tongue, but he only managed to spot another vole which he caught with a swift pounce and bite. He held it in his firmly clamped jaws and continued trying to find prey, but the vole-scent was too strong to use his nose so he had to rely on scent and vision. Unfortunately, he quickly realized that this way of finding prey was much harder and noticed how much the undergrowth in the forest hid everything. He spotted a squirrel, but it noticed him first and scurried up a nearby tree. Sootnose snorted and kept walking; he might not be the smartest, but he wasn't dumb enough to climb a tree for one small squirrel. He finally made his way back to camp and was moderately satisfied he caught two prey items, and dropped them on the pile. He wasn't too hungry so he sat near it and began to lick his pelt down, eager to get on another patrol or go hunting again later. He flicked his eyes over all the cats in camp and felt embarrassed he wasn't talking to any of them, but he wasn't sure how to start a conversation so he glanced around the clearing during his grooming.

"It's getting better, thankfully," she mewed quietly. She stretched her leg out briefly. "I'm thinking I'll be able to join one of the hunting patrols later today." She missed hunting, although she did appreciate spending time in camp and getting to meet the kits.
Rushfall was making his way back to camp, a squirrel in his jaws. He had been out and about all day; patrols, hunting, all the usual. The smell of squirrel filled his nostrils and his mouth watered at the idea of taking a bite of the juicy creature. But he shrugged the thoughts off; there were kits to feed. He made his way over to the fresh-kill pile and dropped off his catch, and then shuffled over to where Sootnose was situated. "Hey there," he meowed, flicking his tail.

Spottedkit huffed at her brother's reassurance. She was sure this wasn't as good as exploring on their own and she wanted to have fun now. She was ready to pout until Mossfoot had asked her a question. The kit perked up. "Spottedkit." She offered her name in a quiet tone, not sure about all of these new cats. Her eyes flicked to the other she-cat's hurt leg. Thankfully, though the kitten was a bit disappointed, there wasn't much to be seen but some cobwebs. The kit was quickly bored and looked around camp.
When her eyes met her mother's hard green eyes, the kitten's fur puffed slightly. Worry flared through Spottedkit when she realized she hadn't seen her mother look this way. She was very glad when Sunstar let them venture into his den. Anything to escape her mother's gaze. The kitten bounded into den without a thought. The den seemed really small and it smelled almost completely of the leader. There was a scent underneath but she couldn't catch it for long. She padded to the nest and flopped in.
---
Owlswoop shook out his fur before advancing into the rabbit's territory. For once, he seemed to be quiet and moving almost silently. At the edge of the forest, he crouch. He flicked his tail at Breezebonce's flank when he saw a rabbit just a couple of foxlengths away. It hadn't seem to notice them, just cleaning its face and twitching its nose. They would have an easy catch if they could stay quiet. They would had to go now. Owlswoop took a step forward before looking back at Breezebounce to make sure he was following or circling around. The warrior supposed he should follow his friend's lead since this was suppose to be his catch.

Sootnose made a final tug on his fur and looked up at Rushfall. "Hi," he mewed, and smelled the squirrel-scent lingering on his fur. "Wow, you caught a squirrel? I saw one on my way back to camp..." He trailed off and flicked his tail in embarrassment. "I won't bore you with the details," he added lamely, but hoped it sounded like he had tried to go after it. "Anyway, what's up?" Silently he realized that he should probably be speaking more formally to him -- Rushfall was much older than Sootnose, and he was also bigger and more imposing. Looking down at his paws, he nervously flicked his ears back and forth. "Er, I mean, how's your... prey running?" Sootnose internally yowled at himself -- that was somehow even worse than what he had said before. He sighed and looked up at Rushfall again.

SilverstrikeSilverstrike shuddered alongside Quailfang, thinking of the danger the Clan could be in. He desperately hoped that Quailfang was right and the thing would be out of their territory soon. Shaking his head, he turned and bounded after the older Warrior. As they hurried along, he thought of more joyful things. The silver tom was hoping for one of either Redwing or Dawnfeather's kits as an Apprentice. He and his sister had both had Apprentices before - Thistleshade had to have one to become Deputy - But neither had been given a second one yet and Silverstrike was very much looking forward to the time when he did, if he did.
BadgertuftBadgertuft nodded in reply, smiling warmly. "We'll see how it goes," He chuckled, scanning the forest, "We're not expecting to catch much this morning, given that we'll be going over something new, but we might get lucky. Snowpaw and I will give it a few goes and then we can head back here to give Oakpaw someone different to practice against." Stretching, the large tom bowed his head in farewell to Copperthroat, grinned at Oakpaw and headed off into the forest, motioning for Snowpaw to follow. ApplepawApplepaw sighed in relief as the pair seemed to forget about her and leave Camp. Shaking off the scare, she grabbed the fresh fish that sat in the prey pile and started towards the Elder's Den. She perked up as she saw Swiftstrike sunning himself outside and hauled the fish over, setting it down nearby. Like all kits, she had grown up with the Elder's stories and was comfortable around the older cats. "Good morning, Swiftstrike!" She chirped quietly, "Are you hungry? Someone brought this in earlier."

Sunstar stifled a laugh as Spottedkit almost vanished into his nest among all the moss. "Comfortable?" he asked, keeping his tone light and playfully teasing, "This is where all the Clan leaders sleep," he explained to the kits. "Even cats like Stormstar and Wildstar slept in here at one point, but their scents are long gone now." He sat down, curling his tail around his paws; he figured he'd let the kits nose around for a little while before taking them to Swiftstrike and Finchcall. As Mossfoot spoke he turned to the she-cat. "I'm glad," he mewed warmly, eyes glowing amicably, "it'll be good to have you back on patrols again."
Breezebounce pricked his ears at the sight of the rabbit, and dropped immediately into an elevated crouched position. He exchanged a glance with Owlswoop and motioned with his tail for the tom to circle the rabbit and wait on the other side. "I'll chase it in your direction," he whispered, careful to keep his voice low. The grey tabby slunk off into the grass, keeping low but cautious of the way the grass stems brushed at his belly-fur; he did not want to startle the rabbit with any accidental noises. Once he was a decent distance away, he searched for Owlswoop in the grass to his right, waiting for his friend to get into position.
Snowpaw obediently padded after his mentor. "Badgertuft," he started hesitantly, "do you think I'll ever be good at hunting?" The thought had been bothering him for a while and he wanted to ask his mentor what he thought, because it seemed that regardless of how hard he tried Snowpaw just wasn't cut out to be a hunter. He'd caught a squirrel once, he supposed, but the poor thing had had three working legs and was so old that the elders had said they were able to taste the age in its meat. He winced at the memory, flattening his ears to his head.

Scorchkit nearly vibrated out of his fur with excitement as he nosed around the entirety of Sunstar's den. "This is so much moss!" he exclaimed. "And it's just for you! We have to share ours with Redwing and Stormkit." He shook out his fur as he stepped out of the nest, flinging a few scraps of moss towards his sister. "Sorry!" ~~ Quailfang glanced at Silverstrike, sensing a shift in the younger warrior, but turned his gaze back to the path ahead as soon as he determined that it wasn't in relation to the patrol itself. As they neared the end of the path, just before they'd turn away from the border to return to camp, Quailfang, slowed, caught by surprise by a scent he didn't recognize right away. He tilted his head, taking a moment - then he realized it was rabbit. Stale and old, but definitely rabbit - they weren't especially common in StormClan territory, and it was strange to find them out so early in newleaf. He shook his head at himself and carried on, silently chastising himself for being so on-edge he couldn't properly identify a rabbit.

"We'll be doing battle training." Streamheart blinked in surprise at her apprentice's question about Sunstar. "I-I mean, he's a wonderful leader and a very brave cat," she said quickly. Her tail fluffed up and she averted her gaze, flustered. "I feel the same way about Sunstar as every cat in our clan; he's loyal, strong, and wise. Why do you ask?" She could feel her pelt prickling with embarrassment as she avoided Plumpaw's eyes. As soon as she heard the river, she sped up until she could see the rushing water. "We're here!" she announced, turning around to finally look at Plumpaw.
Swiftstrike greeted the young apprentice with a flick of his tail. "I'm always hungry." He sniffed at the fish and immediately started purring. "Streamheart caught this, I can tell." His eyes shone as he took a bite of the fish, proud to be eating something his kit caught. The elderly tom was always excited whenever his daughter did something, no matter how mundane it was. He'd praise her just for replacing moss in the dens. "Thank you, Applepaw," he mumbled through a mouthful. Swiftstrike swallowed, then looked up at the apprentice. "Care to stick around for a bit? I could tell you about the embarrassing things Streamheart did as an apprentice."

BadgertuftBadgertuft hesitated, before stopping and moving his tail to stall his Apprentice as well. Moving so that he could look at Snowpaw face to face, the bulky tom's usually cheerful expression was serious. "Snowpaw," He began with a sigh, "You are not a natural hunter. Your pelt stands out in the forest and you're too clumsy to be able to compensate for it." Badgertuft's face softened into a warm smile. "But that does not mean you'll never be a good hunter. You work hard, you're dedicated to improving and the way you do your best every time, even when you're discouraged, makes me so incredibly proud to be your mentor," He purred, butting his head gently against the younger tom's. "I firmly believe you have it in you to be a good hunter, but it's going to take time, dedication and a desire to improve, all of which you have," Badgertuft pressed his shoulder to Snowpaw, trying to get his words across as best he could, "All you need to is keep doing what you have been doing - Trying. Don't be afraid to ask for help and I'm always here if you need me, alright?" ApplepawApplepaw wriggled slightly in excitement, but made herself pause. She was an Apprentice now and had duties to attend to. "Well," She frowned, thinking hard, "Redwing and Danwfeather have food and now you do too..." She briefly considered asking Brackenberry if the Medicine Cat needed anything, but she had her own Apprentice to take care of things. Nodding to herself she smiled up at Swiftstrike. "If you don't mind, I'd like a story about Streamheart," She purred, sitting and curling her tail around her paws, "Quailfang's out on patrol this morning and didn't take me with him." 'If he's not back by the time the story is done,' She thought to herself, giving Swiftstrike her full attention, 'Then I'll check the nests as well.'

"Hm..." Swiftstrike cocked his head thoughtfully. "Well, in her first moon as an apprentice-- she was about your age, actually-- she was determined to catch a fish on her own. She begged Lightwisp and I to go to the river with her." He paused to take another bite of the fish and swallowed it quickly. "Lightwisp went with her, but I had to train my apprentice. Well, when I got back to camp after training, I found Lightwasp licking Streamheart dry and scolding her. When I asked what happened, she said Streamheart saw a fish and jumped right on top of it!" He let out a laugh at the memory, whiskers twitching. "Lightwisp had to jump in and pull her out. She said it took her forever because Streamheart wouldn't let go of the fish," he purred. "Both of them got soaked, but she caught that fish."

Mossfoot nodded. "It'll be good to be back on them. It's only been a few days, but I've missed the scent of... any territory that isn't camp, to be honest," Mossfoot said, and looked thoughtfully down at her paws. "I enjoy spending time here, though, and seeing the kits." Sunstar was always easy for her to talk to. He was only a moon older than Mossfoot and her brother, so it was like they practically grew up together. She couldn't help but smile at the fact that her apprentice denmate was leading the clan. She spoke up again. "Speaking of the kits, they look like they're having a wonderful time. They'll make fine warriors."
Rushfall flicked his ear, a little confused by Sootnose's antics. "Well, you aren't nervous at all, huh," Rushfall mewed dryly. His tone was sarcastic and somewhat harsh, but he had an air of friendliness and good humor about him. "I'm kidding," he added, a little bit afraid of hurting the younger tom's feelings. "And prey is fine, I suppose, to answer your question. Although the 'what's up' was good enough on it's own." He gave a half smile.

Sootnose blinked. "I'm not nervous! I just don't talk much, especially to old cats-not saying you're old or anything," he quickly added. "I guess that was obvious though," he sighed, and twitched his whiskers in a nervous and contradictory way. He appreciated the humor in Rushfall's voice and felt the air lighten, and suddenly didn't feel so out of place. "Well, if you aren't too annoyed already," he mewed, noticing the upwards tug of the tom's mouth, "we could go hunt later or something. I should've probably caught more than I did, especially since I could've gone after more on the way back." He thought for a moment, and then added, "Or I could ask Thistleshade if we can go on a patrol. I wanted to go on the dawn patrol, but I had to hunt instead." He felt the sun on his back and realized what a great day it was, and almost didn't want to leave camp again. Too bad I have to wait until I'm an elder to do nothing all day, he thought sourly.

Rushfall nodded. "Either would be nice. I didn't catch much, either, just that squirrel from earlier..." Rushfall looked around camp briefly, and slowly closed his eyes, enjoying the sunlight. "But the weather for the dusk patrol this evening will probably be perfect." He thought about the cool, twilight breeze ruffling his fur as the sun sets... Rushfall relished the pleasant visual.

Spottedkit listened to the leader with one ear, not really interested in the history. The kit only had one goal: to find something cool. Still, She tried to be polite and nodded along as she explored the nest. There wasn't much to find, just moss and more moss. Dens...were a little boring. She squeaked when a moss chunk flopped on her face. She backed away and shook her head in an attempt to flick off the moss. There were still moss bits in her fur after the shaking but once the large piece was off her face, she grinned. She took a large chunk of moss in her jaws and flung it at her brother. She didn't know if they were playing chase or just tossing moss but it was much better than exploring more moss of the stone den.

Owlswoop nodded and started to circle around. He tried to push away the discomforting feel of grass and sticks brushing against his belly fur. The feeling is the exact reason he preferred to ambush rather than stalk. Still, he wouldn't leave his friend hanging. He wiggled underneath a bush near the spot Breezebounce had gestured to. Under the shade of the leaves, only his round golden eyes could be seen. Surely, him and his scent would be hidden by the bush. He nodded to Breezebounce to start the chase.

Plumpaw giggled, waving her tail, but she did not press the question further even if she had her suspicions. "No reason," she hummed, "just wondering." When Streamheart stopped so did she, and cocked her head as her mentor turned to look at her. She kneaded the ground with her paws in anticipation. "So, what sort of training are we doing today?" she inquired.
If Badgertuft had stopped talking when Snowpaw thought he would, the white tom would've likely cried in front of his mentor. StarClan, that would've been so embarrassing. He was staring intently at his paws, eyes already beginning to water, but when the unexpected words of reassurance left the large tom's mouth, Snowpaw slowly looked up at him with rounded, glowing eyes. "Yes, Badgertuft," he nodded, considerably more upbeat than before, "thank you." The pale-furred apprentice purred loudly, his tail waving happily from side to side. Badgertuft believes in me, he thought proudly, so maybe I should start believing in myself too. He pricked his ears, certain he could already hear bird-song. "I hear birds, Badgertuft!" he exclaimed, trying to keep his voice down.
"It must get boring rather fast, being stuck in camp all the time," Sunstar sympathised, offering Mossfoot a look of understanding, "but I suppose it isn't all bad." He purred at the mention of the kits, gazing into the den beneath the gathering rock where they were playing with the moss and mewing happily. "They will make excellent warriors one day, I know they will. The Clan is always in need of strong, loyal warriors, and I look forward to watching the next generation grow into honourable cats." There were many things about being the leader of StormClan, Sunstar realised, that were the best and most incredible things any cat could ever hope to witness; he would be the one to give these young cats their apprentice names, and hopefully their warrior names too. The Clan would grow around him and they would look to him for guidance. The responsibility is worth it, he thought with a purr, but I do miss the simpler times. When he had been Sunpounce, serving under Flightstar, everything had seemed so much easier - life itself had been less daunting, and he had been much more carefree. "It's all part of growing up, I suppose," he murmured out loud, only half to himself.
Breezebounce waited just an extra moment to ensure that Owlswoop was in place before he readied himself. Narrowing his eyes with determination, the grey tabby tom bunched his haunches and sprang, pelting towards the rabbit at a formidable speed, covering leaps and bounds of earth with his long strides. The rabbit shot up, ears stood tall, and squealed with alarm as its wide eyes fell upon the oncoming warrior. It tore off into the grass, and Breezebounce hared after it. He lunged, snapping at its hind legs with bared teeth, and was able to send it swerving off in Owlswoop's direction. Now! He pushed himself to go faster.
