Sootnose mrred at the she-cat and stood up, licking his nose. "Sounds good to me," he mewed. He started heading towards the entrance, but stopped so he didn't seem bossy. He didn't want to be the first to get out of camp so he waited for Falconfrost and Streamheart to make their moves towards the entrance. Smelling the fresh kill, his mouth watered, but he kept his jaws clamped.

Sootnose glanced at the forest and nodded. "The river is definitely a safe bet. We might even find a couple mice here and there as well," he added, and sniffed the air to try to validate his claim. The air was empty, except for some stale scents and the normal smell of leaves and water. His tail flopped down. "Okay, well, maybe a little farther up," he reconsidered, and inwardly groaned. While he liked voles and mice, he didn't really enjoy fish or catching them, though they weren't the worst. The worst would have to be frogs, but at least they aren't common at all, he thought, and wrinkling his nose.

Streamheart nodded in agreement, setting her sights further ahead. As they walked, she eyed the river for any sign of movement. Her ear flicked when she heard a small splash not much further ahead. She slowed, turning her gaze in the direction of the sound. It wasn't very loud, so it must just be a small fish. I'll take what I can get, though. She turned to look at her clanmates, tail tip flicking. "I'll set up next to the river and see if I can get a couple of fish. If there are small fish about, that means there are probably birds near the river." Streamheart scanned the trees briefly as she veered off closer to the river. "See if you can find some. Or you could join me fishing, if you'd like." She found a spot that jutted out further into the river and took a seat, eyeing the water intently.

Willownose nodded slowly, careful to make a note of the cats who would be going out. "Should I go and find Kestrelstrike?" She asked, glancing over her shoulder. She was unable to see the warrior anywhere; perhaps she was still inside the den? She could've sworn she felt a pair of eyes on her at one point, and when she'd turned around to check Applepaw had rather suspiciously snapped her head around at the exact moment she did so. Strange, she thought, but she liked the little apprentice so she wouldn't embarrass her by bringing it up.
"I mean, I guess they did - we can't be the only ones ever who were nervous about being fully-fledged StormClan cats, right?" Snowpaw contemplated, twitching his ears. He spotted Badgertuft across the camp grooming his thick black-and-white fur, and many of their Clanmates had begun to leave for border patrols and hunting parties already; it was time for another day in StormClan, he supposed. "It's weird to think about, though. All the warriors and even the elders were apprentices once. Sunstar, Thistleshade and Brackenberry, too, and they're leading the Clan!"
Sunstar's gaze grew even darker at the patched she-cat's words, and a small chill ran down his spine to the base of his tail, setting his fur on end. "I thought StarClan might warn us about the eagles - what could they possibly mean by that? Trouble from within..." His voice trailed off as he momentarily lost himself in thought. He took a deep breath and righted himself, straightening up and lifting his head high. "I'll have to keep my eye on the Clan, we can't fall into chaos so soon after Flightstar... It would be a disgrace to her memory," he said, "and she'd likely come down from StarClan herself just to claw my ears off while I slept if I didn't take care of our Clan properly." He broke off with a purr, fond memories of the old she-cat returning. "We will not tell the Clan, they mustn't know," he decided after a moment of hesitation, "we can't have them fall into disarray now."

ThistleshadeThistleshade opened her mouth to reply, when a familiar dark grey in the corner of her vision made her turn her head. The Deputy blinked in surprise, before nodding to Willownose. "If you would," The muscular she-cat replied, tail flicking calmly, "I seem to have a little business to deal with and then I shall join you." Getting to her paws, Thsitleshade padded over to meet Swiftshadow. "Swiftshadow," She greeted the young Warrior with a bemused blink, "You seem to have returned early and without the rest of the Patrol. Is everything alright?" SilverstrikeSilverstrike took a deep breath, forcing himself to relax. It would do no good to draw whatever it was to them with fear-scent. "Let's get moving then," He huffed, rattled by the whole situation, "The sooner we get this done, the better." Keeping his pawsteps as quiet as possible, Silverstrike pushed through the undergrowth to continue with the Patrol. "What do you think it is?" He asked Quailfang quietly after a brief pause.
BadgertuftBadgertuft smiled wryly as he watched Copperthroat and Oakpaw. The tabby Apprentice was already strong-willed and he didn't envy her the task of training him. Shaking his head, he glanced to his own Apprentice, catching the white tom's eye. He motioned for Snowpaw to keep chatting if he wanted to and headed over to sit by Copperthroat. "I hear we're to go hunting together," He chuckled, nudging the younger Warrior with good humour, "Or at least close by each other, since Snowpaw's a good few moons older." ApplepawApplepaw couldn't help the small smile that overcame her features as she watched the kits. She set the squirrel by Dawnfeather and padded closer to Redwing, pressing her side against her brother. Half-nervous and half-excited, she giggled slightly as Scorchkit tried mouse for the first time. "We..." She started shyly, ducking her head and looking up at Redwing, "We weren't sure if the its were trying fresh-kill yet. We can bring you something more if you need it, Redwing." [/div]

Willownose dipped her head respectfully to the deputy as she turned to speak to Swiftshadow before turning around again. She would locate Kestrelstrike, inform the older she-cat about the patrol, and hopefully they'd catch something on their expedition, because she really wasn't liking the look of the fresh-kill pile. Applepaw and Oakpaw had just taken the last of the decent pieces of prey to the nursery for Redwing and Dawnfeather, and despite her concern for the lack of prey Willownose was pleased that the young apprentices were putting the needs of the Clan's queens first. They will be fine warriors. She stifled a purr with a quick shake of her head before setting off in the direction of the warriors' den, where she hoped she would find Kestrelstrike.
Snowpaw offered his mentor a sheepish smile as the black-and-white warrior made eye-contact with him. He then turned back to Winterpaw as the other apprentice spoke again. "Hopefully, because I'd love to be even half the cat that Badgertuft is, he's really cool," he admitted rather shyly, shuffling his paws. He pricked his ears at Winterpaw's quieter murmur and flashed the older tom a small, hopefully reassuring smile. "Of course you will, she'll teach you everything she knows, and then you'll be able to teach yourself even more!"

Copperthroat dipped her head. "Yes, although it's a good thing Thistleshade sent out a hunting patrol as well. I'm not too sure how much we'll be able to catch since we're going to be training as well." She felt acutely aware of the older tom's presence and wanted to seem like a more capable mentor, so she added, "I'm sure we'll catch enough to make a noticeable contribution to the pile though." She looked up at Badgertuft. "Where do you think we should hunt? I'm not sure if we should do it super close to the training grounds in case we make a racket."

"Bye, Winterpaw!" Snowpaw bid the medicine cat apprentice a cheerful farewell with a wave of his tail before rising quickly to his paws, "I'll see you later!" He called over his shoulder as he made his way across the camp to where Badgertuft and Copperthroat sat, presumably waiting for him and Oakpaw. He had seen Oakpaw with Applepaw on their way to the nursery with prey for the queens not too long ago, but they probably had too and were just waiting for him. "H-Hi, Badgertuft," the white tom greeted rather shyly, very conscious of Copperthroat's presence; he wanted to sound mature in front of the she-cat, to show her that he too was almost ready to become a warrior, "are we going out training today?"

Falconfrost eyed the river for a moment before looking away. He would do his best to catch a few land prey before trying for some fish. He scents the air and smells a mouse and possibly a few birds near by. Falconfrost glances over at Sootnose for a moment before crouching down and moving towards some bushes.

Quailfang led the patrol - now just himself and Silverstrike - into the undergrowth on the side of the path away from the foreign scent. "I don't know," he murmured back, following the path from a short distance. "I heard tales of massive predators from the elders as a kit, but I thought them to be only stories." Now, he was much less certain. "Come on," he meowed. "The Outlook isn't far." ~~ Redwing blinked warmly at Applepaw. "This should be fine, thank you. They're not eating much fresh-kill at the moment." Her eyes twinkled. "Besides, I wouldn't want to keep you from your training. Are your mentors waiting for you?" she inquired, tearing off two more small morsels and feeding them to Stormkit and Spottedkit. Stormkit gulped it down eagerly, but Spottedkit wrinkled her tiny nose and hid behind her sister.

Sootnose peered at the others, and turned away to stalk a little farther downstream. He sniffed the air, and was pleased to discover the scent of a vole hanging in the air. As he crouched down he began to inch forward, twitching his ears to figure out where the animal was. He heard the rustle of leaves and discovered the vole a little to the left of him, and he turned. Sootnose stared at it and held his breath, waiting for the moment it would turn around. As the vole's head snapped to the side, Sootnose shot out and bit the neck of his prey. Not too bad! he though to himself. He contemplated scratching the ground and burying it for later, but decided to pad over and place it next to the fish Streamheart had caught. Staring at the river, he decided to stick with hunting land prey and turned back.

(( zero unfortunately I don't but I could quickly make another if you'd like. I'd just have to wait for owlspots to approve them.)) Oakpaw- At Redwing's question Oakpaw looked back out the nursery's entrance. "Copperthroat's waiting for me. I don't think I should keep her waiting." He answered remembering his mentor's earlier impatience. Looking back he said "I'd love stay a bit longer but I should really get going." Turning to face his sister he asked "You don't mind taking fresh-kill to the elders by yourself do you?" Swiftshadow- Swiftshadow calmy padded up to Thistleshade trying her best remain that way. Speaking quietly she said "We encountered the scent of some sort of predator on the way to Eagle's Outlook." She paused and shifted her feet nervously before continuing "Even Quailfang didn't recognize the scent."

smokey Ummm, we could have the med cat app check on the kits? Or the elder go see the kits? The apprentice or warrior could help the elder around the territory or help the med cat gather herbs? owlspots Beezebounce and Owlswoop would be hilarious on a mini patrol or something. Maybe Beezebounce is talking a morning walk when Owlswoop leaps out of a tree? We could also have Moth and Plum talk.

ThistleshadeThistleshade let no emotion cross her face as she listened to Swiftshadow. "Hmmm, thank you, Swiftshadow," She meowed, tail flicking slowly, "You have done well to bring me this information so quickly. I shall speak to Sunstar about this immediately." She moved to turn away, before blinking and returning her gaze to Swiftshadow. "A favor, if you would," She started, a question in her voice, "Please inform Willownose to choose another Warrior to take my place on the hunting patrol. You may also go with them if you are not too tired, but do not feel as if you have to. You've earned a rest if you need it." Nodding to the she-cat, Thistleshade resumed her turn and headed towards her Leader where he sat with Brackenberry. "Apologies for interrupting," She said stiffly, bowing her head slightly in respect to both of them, "But I have just received some information that you must hear, Sunstar. And perhaps Brackenberry as well, but that is up to you." SilverstrikeSilverstrike sighed, following the older Warrior towards the Outlook. "I heard the same storied from the Elders," He agreed, allowing his paws to move automatically as he focused his attention on their surroundings, "To be honest, I wasn't even sure I believed them. I mean, giant cats, massive wild dogs-things? They seem like stories to keep kits in Camp." A wry smile covered his features, "I guess i have to believe in them now."
BadgertuftBadgertuft smiled warmly at Snowpaw. "Good morning, Snowpaw," The massive tom rumbled, "We're doing a little hunting today. It thought I'd teach you a new technique for hunting birds." Knowing his Apprentice's clumsy tendencies around hunting in general, he casually continued, "It is a training session of course, rather than a hunting patrol. Thistleshade has sent out a couple of those, one of which has already left." He hoped Snowpaw got the hint that they weren't expected to bring much, if anything, back today. With low expectations for bringing back prey, Badgertuft hoped Snowpaw would be able to focus on learning. He was already proud of his Apprentice, the young tom worked so hard. Applepaw"Quailfang's away on the dawn patrol," Applepaw, murmured in reply, fascinated with the kits. Oakpaw's voice broke her staring and she smiled at him. "Go on," She quietly assured him, "There's not much left, but I'll get it to the Elders. Have fun and work hard." Applepaw pressed her face into her brother's ruff, taking in his comforting scent, before pulling back to smile at him. "Quailfang's got something planned, so i'll probably be out when you get back."

Scorchkit stretched out to sniff Applepaw experimentally, but the apprentice was too far away and he ended up overbalancing and landing flat on his face. Redwing mrrowed her amusement as he picked himself up, shook his fur, and ran to hide behind her tail. ~~ "I guess so," Quailfang agreed, devoutly thankful he'd made the decision to leave Applepaw in camp. "For now I'll just thank StarClan that the trail wasn't headed toward the camp." The Outlook wasn't far. Quailfang made it to the top in a series of jumps, foregoing the safer path in favor of speed. His claw snagged a jagged outcrop on the final jump and he hissed in pain, scrabbling for balance before hauling himself to the top and shaking out his fur indignantly.

Sunstar faced his deputy, muscles tense as though he already expected bad news. "Ah, Thistleshade," he began, returning his deputy's greeting with a dip of his own head, "please, share." Although he did not wish to show any signs of weakness or instability in front of Thistleshade and Brackenberry, the ginger tom could not disguise the stiffness of his posture. He hoped the news Thistleshade was about to deliver would not be as concerning as he thought.
Snowpaw nodded warily at the mention of hunting. However, when Badgertuft informed him that this would only be a training session, he visibly relaxed. He wasn't a very adept hunter, and embarrassing himself in front of another warrior and his own denmate would have been absolutely traumatising. "O-Okay," he mewed, perking his ears slightly. Badgertuft was kind to him, and incredibly patient with his mediocrity; Snowpaw would never be able to thank the warrior enough for being so accommodating. He hoped that he would be able to show his mentor that he was making progress. He greeted Oakpaw with a warm, if slightly nervous, mew.
Willownose blinked at the younger warrior, twitching her whiskers in intrigue. "Very well, we're just waiting for Kestrelstrike to join us and then we'll be on our way," she informed Swiftshadow. She wondered what had happened for Thistleshade to withdraw from the patrol, but when she caught sight of the blue-grey she-cat talking to Sunstar and Brackenberry, she realised that it was likely something of grave importance. She hoped Sunstar would take whatever news Thistleshade had to give him well, and that his mental state had improved.
