I personally don't hold anything against them, especially when it comes to the kits being seperated. After all, the prophecy was given to all four Clans, something that doesn't happen all too often. And without Needlepaw, Alderpaw never would've found the kits in the first place, so I can see why she and Rowanstar and even Bramblestar and Mistystar believed that ShadowClan had just as much of a "claim" to the kits as Alderpaw and the rest of ThunderClan did.
If a prophecy like this was given to all four Clans and not just ThunderClan for once, then it must be very important, and as we know, prophecies have affected lives in significant ways before. And while it may not be confirmed yet, the kits are still believed to be important somehow.
I can see both sides of the argument here. It was wrong to separate the kits and the Clans know this, but at the same time, it was also believed to be necessary.

I'm kinda glad they did, it was too obvious of writing for ThunderClan to keep both kits. In fact I think it was pointed out several times in the book that ThunderClan has become the cliche hero of everything, so you can tell the Erins have become a bit self aware.

Yeah I expected something like this to happen when every Clan is told about it.

Honestly by now, I just want a good story. I'm tired of being the "animal rights activist" type fan who spends 90% complaining about how terrible the character's lives are and only 10% enjoying plot. That's just not who I am anymore, and so even though SC are crap right now- who cares, we get their POV, and I'll take it since it's better than nothing.

I definitely like the cats involved in that decision (Bramblestar, Needlepaw, etc) a bit less, because honestly I hate everything about that scene. I could go on.
But I see your point. I feel like that alone set the series up to be less cliche. That and the implied fall of ShadowClan, oooh. Overall I'm pretty happy with AVoS thus far.
