ā» Clan Traits & Character
Mountainclan cats are physically very well adapted to their territory because, well, those who are not don't tend to survive long. These cats are larger than average on most, their bodies muscular, yet with a certain agility necessary for navigating their mountainous home. They have strong shoulders and legs for climbing and jumping, both necessary skills for a Mountainclan cat. Their coats are thick and long to help insulate them against the harsh climate, and their fur is typically white or dark and neutral in color to help them blend in with the terrain. Mountainclan cats tend to be very resilient and strong-willed, with a sense of pride for and loyalty towards their clan. They are wary of outsiders, as they are uncommon in the territory, and are known to be very set in their ways.
ā» Territory & Landmarks
[ The Territory ]
Mountainclan cats make their home in the harsh and unforgiving peaks of the Rocky Mountains and the valleys between them. Much of their territory is steep and rocky with sparse vegetation, dotted with pine and aspen trees. There is oftentimes snow, even early into Leaf Fall or late into New Leaf. Wildlife is common and varied and oftentimes dangerous.
[ The Lake ]
A large, circular lake lies in the southernmost east corner of Mountainclan territory and makes up an amount of the border in that area. It is relatively shallow along the bank but deepens very suddenly towards the center. Fish and waterfowl are common, mostly in the warmer season. Many other animals are seen here, including predators or moose and herds of elk, which can be dangerous if startled or provoked. There is a makeshift island of large boulders in the shallows of the lake, connected to the bank by a land bridge and referred to the clan as Sunningrocks. These stones are home to a variety of rodents and snakes which makes it a good hunting spot. However, birds of prey can often be seen hunting here, so apprentices are banned from the island.
[ Twoleg Cabins ]
In the opposite corner of the lake, right outside of the southwestern edge of the territory is a small cluster of Twoleg Cabins. Most of the time they remain vacant but in Leaf Fall Twolegs move into them and bring dogs, which make this area dangerous and to be avoided in these moons. Traps and snares may also show up in the surrounding area around this time, so caution is warranted. Sometimes Twolegs can be seen near the lake in Green Leaf. A dirt Thunderpath trails away from these cabins and southward from the territory.
[ Camp Entrance ]
Mountainclan's camp is made in the side of a mountain, accessible through a tall and narrow opening about a quarter of the way up the face. A steep pathway worn by the generations winds down the side of the mountain from the entrance and down into the rest of the territory. This trail, while rocky and dangerous to walk, especially for young cats or in Leafbare, helps to protect the camp, as few predators or Twolegs are willing to make the trek up to the cave.

Grizzlystar ā» 82 moons ā» š»šš
Grizzlystar, even by Mountainclan standards, could easily be considered a huge tom-he is an intimidating sight, not only massively built but also well-muscled and heavily scarred, especially on his face. Although greyed and worn by age, Grizzlystar still exudes a commanding authority, whose power one could only imagine in his youth. His coat, now duller than it once was, is a rich dark brown in color, patterned by tabby stripes. His is betrayed by his age in the grey fur that peppers his face and muzzle, however, his eyes, bright yellow in color, could fool one into believing him the fierce young warrior he was in his prime. Akin to the tom's eyes, his personality remains much the same as it was moons ago. The tom has a strong personality. He is fiercely protective of his clan and makes sacrifices for it regularly, including each life he has lost thus far. Grizzlystar may be seen as too violent or warlike for some, as he is the type who would rather be safe than sorry, to take action first and ask questions later. He is a firm believer in doing what is right over what is easy and the good of many over the good of one. This may make him come across as callous or cold, and not every Mountainclan cat always agrees with his decisions. He is quick to anger, but not quick to show it, and you will not know that you have crossed him until it is too late. While brash, Grizzlystar is a tom that would do everything in his power for his clan and would put himself in front of any threat before he let it harm his clanmates. This attitude, however, does not extend past the blood ties of Mountainclan, and outsiders are often met with tooth and claw. He is heterosexual.

Twistedfoot ā» 60 moons ā» š»šš
Twistedfoot is a large and well-muscled cat. The tom's coat is thick and soft, completely white in color and a set of piercing yellow eyes sit in what could have been a handsome face if his expression didn't always appear so worn. His paws rival even the rest of his body in size, appearing almost too large for him. Twistedfoot-named Whitepaw at the time-earned such a name for an injury received in his early apprenticeship when he snuck had snuck out of camp with his brother Greypaw and decided to race him across the Thunderpath in the southern territory. The toms were hit by a monster while they were halfway across. Twistedfoot was missed almost entirely, only his back right paw was caught by a tire, crushing most of the bones and severing a few toes but Greypaw was hit straight on and died instantly. Twistedfoot's prefix was later changed, per his mother's request in her grief, to serve as a reminder of his mistake. Like his mother, he still blames himself for his brother's death and puts all of his energy into serving his clan as best he can to "make up for it". Yet as much as he cares for and is loyal to his clan, he isn't close to many of its members. Grief and guilt isolated him at a young age, and his serious demeanor can be a bit off-putting, as Twistedfoot is nothing short of stoic. He is a cat of few words and of a very curt and gruff demeanor on the occasion they are uttered. However, Twistedfoot it nothing but a warrior at heart. He is loyal to a fault and willing to take orders or make sacrifices for his clanmates without question. He is heterosexual.
Ospreystorm ā» 57 moons ā» zero
Ospreystorm has a large and powerful build which is typical of most of her clanmates. She stands slightly taller than the average clan cat thanks to slightly longer but powerful legs. Her fur is thick and fluffy, protecting her from the worst weather offered by the cold climate. Her fur is mostly white with splashes of dark grey centered mostly on her back. Her green eyes are almost always staring at someone disapprovingly. If honesty is desired, look no further. Ospreystorm is very abrasive. She holds every cat, including herself, up to very high standards, and isn't afraid to say when a cat has failed to reach them. The cat she holds to the highest standard is herself. Any task she is set on will get her full attention and every failure will be reviewed harshly. All of her self-deprecating behavior became stronger after her mate's unexpected death. She holds onto her remaining family even more and is fiercely protective over them. In all honesty, she would pick her close family's health over the clan's without blinking.

It is fortunate that this tom is built like a brick wall, for if he wasnāt a very capable battler he would likely prove of little use to his clan. Massive to the point of intimidating, his height is second only to Grizzlystar, though he still isnāt someone youād want to meet in a dark alley alone at night. In shadow, he blends in well, but he isnāt in fact pitch black as you might assume at first glance. Lacing his undercoat are rosette-like patterning in an especially dark grey, but for the most part arenāt that noticeable. His eyes are a dark shade of amber brown. Some might consider him handsome, Weāre it not for the fact he isnāt the most overly friendly cat in the world. Whilst neither cruel nor malicious, he is a tom who prefers to keep himself to himself unless necessary. Despite this he is dependable and loyal to the bone, just prefers to keep his opinion until he chooses to voice it.

Redpatch is of average size for Mountainclan standards, although less broad and bulky than most. His coat is fluffy and predominantly white, with red coloring his tail, ears, and the corners of his forehead, reminiscent of a Turkish Van. His eyes match the patches of his coat, orange in color. Redpatch is a fairly positive cat, one who clings to his optimism even in the tougher times of the mountains. He's friendly and sweet, fairly mild-mannered and definitely more of a follower, a people pleaser at heart. Redpatch is also what most would call a hopeless romantic. Ever since he was young, all this tom has wanted is a mate and a nest full of kits. However, he has a tendency to get flustered around she-cats and can become quite awkward. and shy.While not an exceptionally talented warrior, Redpatch has a good heart and is always willing to lend a paw where it's needed. He is heterosexual.

Snowheart is a pure-white she-cat. She has fluffy fur around her neck and ears, but is mostly short-furred, with a sleek, glossy pelt. She has one leaf-green eye and one periwinkle-blue eye. She has a long scar over her shoulders, marking out her small, sleek, slender figure. Snowheart is a kind, motherly figure for many cats in the Clan, even those older than her. Despite her internalized confidence issues, Snowheart often acts in a rational, mature manner, and often refuses to let her heart rule her head. However, she can sometimes be overly blunt, despite her mothering nature. She despises lying. Snowheart is a lesbian.

Although not at a size to compete with her father, the great Grizzlystar, Spottedfire is still a large warrior, especially in comparison to her sister Verglaswhistle. She is a dilute calico cat, her coat a dappled mixture of muted oranges, greys, and whites and very fluffy in appearance. She has her father's striking eyes, although amber in color and both of her ears are tattered from a skirmish she had with an eagle over a fish when she was younger. Spottedfire won. Spottedfire is a feisty cat, if her name wasn't any indication, with a razor-sharp tongue and a quick temper. She is one to jump paws first into action without prior thought, be that an argument or a fight, whichever she's in the mood for. The calico is strongly family oriented and is very defensive of her kin, so one would be smart to watch their tongue around her. Spottedfire is not one to keep quiet or sit down and you will always find her in the middle of the action, or making some if there isn't any. She is heterosexual.
Ermineleap ā» 25 moons ā» š»šš
A rather good looking she-cat, Ermineleap has a long and fluffy coat of pure white fur that feathers exceptionally along both her neck and tail. Her eyes are a bold shade of green, and she has a small pink nose. Ermineleap earned her suffix for her skills in climbing and hunting, although they would be much better if she had any confidence and didn't require constant validation. The she-cat is shy as a mouse and it's difficult to get even a peep out of her. She frequently finds herself flustered and lost for words in social interactions and falters in her abilities when she feels like she's being watched or judged, causing her to make mistakes. The she-cat is, however, sweet and warm once she's comfortable with a cat, and talented when her confidence is built up. Ermineleap is homosexual.

Oakfur is a brown-and-ginger patched tom, with white paws. He has a large, often imposing figure, despite his build being lithe and slender. He has a long, fluffy coat, and hazel eyes. Oakfur is a curious and energetic tom, often being very immature for his age. He often tries to get out of responsibilities and doesn't care for the idea of being deputy or leader, having an apprentice, or having kits. However, he does want a mate, and is somewhat of a hopeless romantic, getting crushes very easily. Oakfur can often be very brave and confident, sometimes overly so. He makes snap decisions easily and has saved multiple cats in doing so. Oakfur is bisexual.
Blazingheart ā» 14 moons ā» zero
Most of the time, the she-cat is going to stick out like a sore thumb among a group of her fellow clan cats. Her bright pelting being rarer for a clan cat to bare. Thankfully, she still has the stout, powerful build and thick fur of her clanmates so she doesn't stand out too much. Her fur looks less fluffy than most of her clanmates but it is thick and very much warm. Her eyes are a bright amber with a slightly golden ring around the pupil, adding to the effect of her name. Never one to quit halfway and someone with a lot to prove, this new warrior is a hard worker who will put everything into a task. There isn't much she wouldn't do to help someone in her clan. Though some may find her difficult to work with since she often is clueless in humor and tiny social clues. She is in no means rude on purpose and often tries to please others as much as she can but something slip past her and she often naĆÆve with many issues. That being said, she doesn't usually speak her mind and instead prefers to stay off to the side with large issues.

A rather handsome tom, Mossypaw looks are much more inviting than his personality. He has a long and feathery coat of ashy grey fur, broken by splashes of white on his chest, chin, and paws. His eyes are light green in color and the tom has a completely black nose, as well as plentiful white whiskers. Mossypaw is, put lightly... a "bold personality". The tom is a natural and obnoxious flirt. He can commonly found talking the ear off of any she-cat around, regardless of whether they're interested or even listening. Mossypaw carries a thick air of entitlement, finding himself quite deserving of whatever it is he desires, and he is inherently very selfish. Haughty and stuck-up, he considers himself better than others in nearly every way (which is very far from the truth) and isn't afraid that is shows. He's rude to his clanmates, typically only ever speaking in insults or sarcastic retorts when he's not flirting, and regularly caught bullying his fellow apprentices. For this reason, he butts heads with those who are in authority, and you'll often find him in trouble, where the tom only digs worse holes for himself. He is heterosexual.

Skypaw ā» 9 moons ā» zero
Skypaw may be a bit of an odd cat to look at when someone first glances at him. He has always been a bit taller and more skinny than the usual, yet still has a mass of white and grey fur. It's rather like seeing a slightly dusty puffball on stilts. An odd sight in a clan mostly containing stout, thick cats. Then, after have observed his body, cats usually look to meet his eyes and then have to go through the same, confusing ordeal. He has one amber eye and one blue eye with a little bit of amber colors slicing through. An odd, perhaps unearthly sight for most. To most cat's surprise the tom seems to have a subdued personality when compared to his stand-out looks. Many cats who speak with the tom will think of him as quiet and not much of one to speak out and start something. He is friendly enough but withdrawn and polite. He doesn't speak out of turn and is oddly formal. It would take moons of sticking around the tom to figure out he isn't as polite as he wishes to be. The tom can and will speak his mind about anyone and anything he deems 'wrong' or 'terrible'. He is, in all honesty, not a notably great hunter or fighter, but he does have a sharp mind. He remembers methods and other information easily but will often overthink things and not follow instinct or relax.

Flamepaw is a strong and athletic she-cat. Her coat is feathery and soft, bright ginger in color and marked by deeper tabby stripes. She has white highlights along her chest, neck, and face, as well as white toes on each of her front feet. Her eyes are pale green in color. Flamepaw is an Aries, and that's about all you need to know about her. She's adventurous and energetic by nature, paws always itching for her next voyage as a result of her ADHD. This leads to her being very impatient and growing restless easily, as well as having trouble sleeping and participating in an abundance of physical activity. The tabby is confident and courageous, and a bit of a daredevil who wouldn't stand down a challenge if it would kill her. She's a hard worker, always pushing herself to be a better warrior. Flamepaw is ambitious and devoted but only towards a cause she has her heart in. She doesn't get along with authority and is always in some sort of trouble because she follows her own rules and hers only. Since she knows what it's like to be the odd one out, often bullied as a kit for her red fur, she likes to take care of other outcasted cats. She'll jump to the defense of anyone being bullied, and is always trying to build up the trust and confidence of her friends. She always likes to surround herself with a small group, since she gets lonely a lot and starts to miss her family. Though at times she can be disagreeable as she's so independent, her heart is in the right place, and she makes a devoted friend and warrior. Her parents were killed in an avalanche when she was still a kit and the she-cat grieves their loss deeply, wanting nothing more than to make them proud. She is bisexual.

Tawnypaw is a dark brown tabby she-cat. She has black markings in the form of black paws, tail-tip, dorsal stripe, underbelly, chest, eyebrows, and inner ear fur. She has a bright pink nose and beautiful dark green eyes. She is sleek and slender, with a sleek, glossy pelt. Tawnypaw is a good cat in general, and is very street-smart - however, she isn't academic at all, often struggling with her apprenticeship. If she were a Twoleg, Tawnypaw would have autism. She rarely lies, if at all. She can become overwhelmed and tune out easily, and often needs help paying attention. Tawnypaw often repetitively moves in certain ways or repeats what other cats say. She is very sensitive to noise and light and can be easily upset by loud or sudden noises. She despises change. She often makes honest but inappropriate statements, and whilst she will respond to social interactions, rarely initiates. She will talk on end about certain subjects that she loves. She is a perfectionist and feels the need to fix or rearrange objects. She has a certain comfort item - a pebble - which she had since she was two moons old, and carries everywhere. Tawnypaw is often very awkward in social interactions and has trouble understanding the rules of conversation. Tawnypaw has autism, although this would not be recognized in the Clans. Tawnypaw is bisexual.

Most didnāt expect this pretty warrior to make it past her first moon, born the runt of her litter during an especially cruel leafbare, it astonished most that she made it past her first night, and could be considered a miracle she made it to today. Whilst especially small compared to most of her clan, Verglaswhistle is a kind cat with a good heart and is grateful every day she survived, to serve her clan. A rather beautiful young she-cat, marked with a silvery grey pelt that is dappled with mixtures of darker grey and white. Her eyes are heterochromatic, meaning they have two colors, the right being a silvery grey and the left being a dark yellowish green. She is a shy young cat, not especially sociable which contrasts strangely by her charming and sweet nature. Whilst not an easy friend to make, she is a loyal cat who would do anything for a friend.

Tawnypaw ā£ Flamepawā» Plots Ā» What Desperate Times Call For
Although the Leaf Bare season is normally harsh for Mountainclan, this season has been especially bad. Temperatures are colder than usual, prey is scarce, and blizzards have been striking the territory on and off, making it dangerous or even impossible to leave camp for days at a time. Many cats have been lost to the conditions (be it to starvation, frostbite, sickness, or bold, hungry predators), including the clans latest deputy, and tensions are high within the clan. There are those who blame Grizzlystar for Mountainclan's hardship, claiming his leadership has failed the clan and that he should step down as leader for someone else to take charge. One tom has an especially loud voice of opposition, so much so that his words have begun to provoke outbursts, arguments, and scuffles between clanmates. Fed-up with this behavior, Grizzlystar steps in to ask the tom to stand down for the sake of peace. The tom instead challenges Grizzlystar as leader and is swiftly exiled from the clan. Most cats have mixed feelings about this decision, the exile of a warrior in these conditions essentially a death wish. Some voice their support while others are outraged. Outraged most of all by this is the tom's two sons. One of the son's leaves in solidarity with his father, while the other stays behind. However, the three toms remain in contact through the son that stayed behind, and together with supporters from inside the clan, they begin to plot an uprising against Grizzlystar.

With conditions as desperate as they have been in recent moons due to the harsh Leafbare upon Mountainclan, predators have become increasingly common and bolder than before. A pack of coyotes has recently made their home near Mountainclan's southern border near the lake. Starved and desperate, the predators are not only stealing the clan's already scarce prey but targeting cats as well. Their presence is only growing increasingly stronger and more dangerous as Leafbare wears on, and it's only a matter of time before attacks begin to happen and blood is spilled on the snow.
Feel free to insert your characters into this plot at will, whether it be finding evidence of the pack in the territory, coyotes digging up prey, attacking patrols, etc.

Biography ;; Most didnāt expect this pretty warrior to make it past her first moon, born the runt of her litter during an especially cruel leafbare, it astonished most that she made it past her first night, and could be considered a miracle she made it to today. Whilst especially small compared to most of her clan, Verglaswhistle is a kind cat with a good heart, and is grateful every day she survived, to serve her clan. A rather beautiful young shecat, marked with a silvery grey pelt that is dappled with mixtures of darker grey and white.her eyes are heterochromic, meaning they have two colours. The right being a silvery grey and the left being a dark yellowish green. She is a shy young cat, not especially sociable which contrasts strangely by her charming and sweet nature. Whilst not an easy friend to make, she is a loyal cat who would do anything for a friend.

If there is anything else striking about him, it's that he's strikingly... odd. At first he may seem to be your average cat, but there are some things about him that give others questioning looks. For starters he what you can call a "collector" or things. When he was an apprentice, Nightwatcher was practically a borderline hoarder, collecting things from rocks to odd-shaped pieces of bark that he kept littered in his nest. Over time as he grew his obsession lessened, but from time to time you'll find a trinket here or there stored in his sleeping area. When talking with him, there is no use doing simple talk. He can delve into deep discussions quite easily, without meaning to most of the time. Other times he'll just talk about things you wouldn't think of right away. Getting to know him more better, he just has a keen eye and is observant to the kind of things others may glaze through. Lichenfur has long, pale white fur that givers her an overall larger appearance. At a first glance she seems startling, but looking into her deep green eyes proves otherwise; they radiate an aura of calmness. Looking at her again however, there is a long scar that runs from her shoulder and all the way down her back. She received her notable scar due to an unfortunate coyote skirmish when she was younger and not as experienced. The scars may linger, but it hasn't hurt her pride. A gentle giant with a polite demeanor, Lichenfur is one with a level head. While not the first to initiate social interactions, she can be a respectable cat when being talked to. Of course there are times it is difficult for her to actually push herself. As she isn't one to react first, this could be a sign of hesitation she still holds in her whether she can admit it or not. His overall build is more lanky than sturdy, not having very much power and more apt for speed. Considering his age now, it would be surprising he's growing frail. Now Cloudygaze is a bit on the younger side to be in the elder's den; however, he had to move there for a reason. Not too long ago he began losing his sight, everything becoming a blur. Seeing he couldn't continue with his duties as a warrior he decided to retire to the elder's den early. His original name was Skyrunner; however, he decided to take on the name Cloudygaze to suit his current situation. With his vision failing fast, he knows it won't be long before he's completely blind. Aside from that, he's a humble and soft-spoken cat. He's the cat you'd want to go to if you want to rant about all your problems and feelings. Being an excellent listener with a whole lot of patience, he's earned some respect by a few in the Clan. As much as Grizzlystar dearly cherished his clan and everything about the mountains that made their home, Starclan knew he was so terribly sick of the snow. Yet another blizzard had recently torn through Mountainclan territory, having raged for days. It wasn't even entirely over this morning, the wind still howling and snow swirling along with it, but hunting had to happen. Despite recent efforts being made to stockpile fresh kill, the camp had still run completely barren of prey in just the few days the blizzard had kept Grizzlystar's warriors confined to camp. We need to be doing more... the leader thought to himself, flexing his claws in frustration. The tom's amber eyes narrowed against the wind and he parted his jaws slightly, trying to drink in any scent that it may carry his way.
The sun shone faintly behind the gray covering that cloaked the sky, as is trying to break free of the clouds. Grizzlystar sent the quickest of prayers up to Starclan to pray that it would and that these recent storms would let up before being distracted by the scent of prey nearby. A snowshoe hare was peeking out of its burrow nearby, surveying the area. It was hardly visible with its winter coat pure white blending in against the banks of snow surrounding the burrow. The only things visible were the hare's beady black eyes and its nose twitching ever so slightly, The snowshoe took a few tentative hops outside of its burrow as Grizzlystar lowered his massive frame against the ground, crouching behind a snow-covered boulder and holding his breath.
Seemingly satisfied that its surroundings were safe enough in these desperate times, the hare began to paw around in the snow, nibbling here and there where it thought it might have some luck. Grizzlystar crept around his cover toward the hare and lunged after it when it dipped its head. Coming up ever so short, the leader's claws grazed the back half of the rabbit as it took off for the cover of its burrow. Not about to lose such a large piece of prey, Grizzlystar pursued just a leap or two before he could overtake the hare and kill it just a few tail lengths from safety. He lifted his haul, awkwardly because of its size, and made his way back to camp with it in his jaws. The tabby tom squeezed his way through the crack in the mountainside that their camp lay behind, laying the snowshoe hare down near the entrance to camp and scanning the cave. He hoped to spot his daughter Verglaswhistle about, wanting the queen to have the first bite of freshkill Mountainclan had seen for a few days, or perhaps Cloudygaze, one of the newer elders of the clan. |

Hunger pangs having made it near impossible to sleep the last couple of days, the pretty queen was settled as comfortably as she could make herself to the side of the nursery. Her head resting on her silver paws as she watched camp in a quiet, subdued silence. Her kits, unborn as they might have been, didnāt seem to be as exhausted as their mother, their kicks and squirms causing her flanks to quiver. Leafbare had been hard on the clan, and the days without prey had left the queen gaunt and skinny, even though slender by nature the expectant queen looked pitiful Verglaswhistle stirred at movement by the camp entrance, eyes lighting with hope and her eyes brightened at the sight of her father carrying a hare.
Lifting herself to her paws, she approached her father with a respectful sip of her grey head. Brushing against him in greeting, āNice catch,ā she commented, trying to hide how much her mouth watered at the sight of prey..

The hefty tom rubbed his face against his daughter's in greeting and immediately slid the hare along the smooth cave floor towards the queen. He gave a small grunt in response to her comment about his catch, shaking his head solemnly as he sank to rest on his haunches. The tom's bright amber eyes were dark and water dripped steadily from his coat as the frost that had collected there during his hunt began to melt. "One nice catch is not good enough..." The tom murmured, half to himself and half to his daughter. He looked up at the dappled she-cat, whiskers twitching sympathetically. "I am sorry how harsh this Leafbare has been, Verglaswhislte. I wish the timing could have been better." At this comment, he cast a look down at the queen's belly, swollen with kits, and shook his head, as if to clear his troubled thoughts from it. |

Under other circumstances the queen might have chuckled, leave it to her father to find the cloud behind the silver lining. Raising her muzzle almost a hilariously large amount in order to reach her fatherās towering shoulder, she groomed the melting snow from his thick coat with a solemn sigh. āItās a start at least,ā the slender shecat offered quietly. Casting a gaze around camp, spotting warriors peering hungrily from their dens at the first fresh prey any of them had seen in moons. The shecat let out a sigh, knowing all too well her father had a point. The hare would be stretched thin among the clan, none of them would go to bed with a full stomach, but it was better than the desperate hunger that gnawed relentlessly at her rounded stomach. āStarClan knows we need something to cheer us up a little,ā she meowed stepping away from the fresh kill in spite of how her hunger dared her to snatch it up and take it all for herself.
Part of the queen agreed with her father, guilt burdened her shoulders at taking prey before the rest of her equally hungry clanmates. She had done nothing whereas they had been working hard. None of it seemed in the remotest fair, she touched her muzzle to her fatherās ear with a sigh, ālet the others eat first,ā she meowed decisively despite how pained her gaze was with bitter hunger, āTheyāve worked harder than I, Its hardly fair I get the first bite.ā She meowed, drawing her tail around her frame and letting it rest neatly across her grey paws.

Grizzlystar slid his paws forward and onto his stomach almost subconsciously to better match the height of his daughter, her grooming a small and much-needed comfort to the weathered tom. "Indeed." He agreed, wondering just what could be done to lighten the darkness this Leafbare had cast. His amber eyes followed the she-cat's movement out of the corner of his eye and watched as she moved away from the snowshoe hair, his gaze narrowing. At her next comment, had Mountainclan's situation been less dire, the time might have mustered a chuckle at just how ridiculous he found Verglaswhistle's words, but he made no such sound. Instead, he just turned his head to look at his daughter. "You are doing the hardest work of us all." Grizzlystar murmured, flicking the queen's stomach with the tip of his long, feathered tail. "And you are a fool to think that I, or any warrior, for that matter, would allow anyone else to have a meal before you have. You have more mouths to feed than just your own, daughter." |

Continuing with her careful efforts at grooming her fatherās disobedient coat, the young shecat too took comfort in the moment of closeness with her father, the shy queen wasnāt often the affectionate type even towards loved ones. But for now she enjoyed having something to keep her paws occupied. Confined to camp left the grey queen feeling especially useless, so even small jobs cheered her up quite a lot. Pausing in her efforts only to deliver a swift lick to her rounded stomach, she should have known her father would likely put up a fight. āEveryone is starving and working their tails off in the effort of finding food, whilst I spend my days lounging around camp doing nothing of aid to them,ā she replied dejectedly. Finishing her work and settling down close to the Tomās towering form. āNone if it seems especially fair.ā
āAfter all,ā Verglaswhistle meowed with finality to her tone. āItās my fault weāll have more mouths to feed soon.ā

Sitting in silence while Verglaswhistle groomed his soaking coat, Grizzlystar thought of how to persuade his daughter but didn't entertain the idea for long. He knew well enough that the she-cat had made up her mind and that he wouldn't be able to change it. After all, she was his daughter-if there was anyone to blame for her stubbornness, it would be himself. The tabby tom heaved a sigh, settling his head upon his paws with a small air of defeat. He closed his eyes for a moment, focusing only on the closeness of his daughter's form beside him and the rasp of her tongue. "You know..." Grizzlystar began, speaking slowly as he seemingly pondered his thoughts, Verglaswhitle's last comment causing a twinge in the old tom's heart. "It was a Leafbare not quite unlike this when you and your sister were born." The tom reminisced. "I don't think I had a single bite of prey that entire season." (supposed to be a joke but that actually seems like a reason he would lose a life afjksaf) |

Watching her father deflate in the face of defeat, the silver tabby nestled close to her father with a quiet sigh.. Leafbare was difficult under normal circumstances, but the young queen could see the weight of responsibility beginning to build across his shoulders and it broke her heart. It wasn't her place to add to his pressures, but it seemed that at every turn there was something only to add to the ever growing pile.
However, the leader's attempt at humour had the opposite effect in truth. The shecat closed her eyes and rested her slender head across her paws with a grimace. At first she didn't respond to her father, For that was her exact fear, time and time again the story of her near death had been recounted to her, the fact she had barely survived her first leafbare. And now she found herself terrified that her kits might befall the same fate that she had evaded so many moons ago. Wrapping her tail protectively over the swell of her stomach, she pressed close to her father with a quiet sigh.
"That must feel like a lifetime ago by now, papa." The queen managed what almost sounded like a chuckle, but came out more choked than intended.

[[ Just gonna leave a couple starters here. ]] - - Featherpaw // Camp - -
The howling winds made for an eerie ambiance, but this did not faze Featherpaw the slightest. The lynx point Ragdoll kept herself occupied within the confines of camp sitting in front of the apprentice's den, watching the the swirling snow that could be seen from the cave entrance. It was quite the sight to see if one took the time to witness its beauty; however, the show could not entertain for very long. For the apprentice, she found herself slowly loose interest in staring outside.
With a wistful sigh, Featherpaw rested her head on her paws as she lay. Everyone seemed grim and disturbed, as if the weight of the current storm was weighing them down. She knew the storm was the cause of it, and was affecting their prey status, but she was puzzled why everyone was still down. They were a Clan that could push through anything. They thrived in this place they called home. Unbeknownst to the apprentice, their situation was probably worse than anyone thought.
It is only the morning, she mused. Maybe I'll get to go outside soon. Her eyes glimmered at the thought. Yeah! I'll get to see what it's like outside after the storm. I bet there will be even more snow that I could ever imagine. Featherpaw found herself daydreaming shortly after that.

Sounds from the wings echoing in the cave eventually woke Cloudygaze from his slumber. The gray tabby tom lifted his head groggily and looked around. His gaze furrowed in confusion as he noticed his sight wasn't clearing. "Huh..?" He mumbled. Why was everything so blurry? Realization hit and the elder gave a chuckle. Oh silly, that's how you normally see. He chided to himself. Looking around he noticed there wasn't anyone around. The second realization hit. Ah, right. You're still in the elder's den. The tom shook his head. "Stars above Cloudygaze, you are out of it this morning." He said aloud. Getting to his paws, he proceeded to stretch out his limbs.
Must've been the weather getting him out of the loop. Definitely didn't help him being in the elder's den by himself. It had been a few moons since Cloudygaze moved to the elder's den due to his failing sight. Even still there were times he forgot that. He'd never admit it, but it would get lonely at times. However, he was glad when any of his Clanmates stopped by and chat, even if only for a bit. Those thoughts aside, the elder set on grooming himself. |

Grizzlystar picked up the strained notes in his daughter's voice and remain silent for a very long, drawn-out moment. He didn't intend to make the young queen's mind cloud with worry but knew it must be hard for her to not be burdened by concern for her coming kits. "A few, yes..." The tom murmured, thinking back to the season of his daughters birth. "What I'm trying to say is, if your kits are anything like their mother, and I know they will be, then they'll be strong." The tom concluded, shaking his head as if he was convincing himself of that point and not Verglaswhistle. "They'll be just fine." [ Twistedfoot ] ā» [ Mountainclan Camp ] ā» [ with Cloudygaze ]
Twistedfoot, one of the more senior warriors of Mountainclan, had taken it upon himself in recent seasons to spend his morning doing "rounds" around the cave that the clan called home. This normally entailed a check on the queens and kits in the nursery at the time, waking any absentee apprentice that had overslept that morning, and checking in on the elders of the clan. It was worryingly frequent, especially as of late in this harsh Leafbare, for the tom to be unable to rouse one of his clanmates from their nest, their bodies cold and stiff. So just like most of the tom's mornings, on this one, he made his way around one of the large, smooth boulders that hid the entrance to the Elder's den, his twisted foot tucked close to his body as not to bump it on the cave walls. He blinked a few times, yellow eyes glowing, sight adjusting to the dimmer interior of the den. The tom was relieved to see Cloudgaze awake and on his paws, stretching. "Good morning, Cloudygaze." Twistedfoot greeted, dipping his head to the newest elder of the clan. [ Flamepaw ] ā» [ Mountainclan Camp ] ā» [ with Featherpaw ]
Already a restless she-cat by nature, Flamepaw's feet were burning with unspent energy after being confined to camp for so long. She had spent her free time thus far pacing along the walls of the cave, practicing battle moves, reorganizing all of the dens in camp, grooming her fur until her tongue was sore, and still she was bored. The tabby was busying herself this morning rolling around a ball of old moss, tossing it between her paws and bouncing it off of the cave walls. Flamepaw couldn't take the solemn air that hung on camp like a cloud. She wanted to do nothing more than leave camp and do something Ito help. With an exaggerated sigh, she turned her attention towards the cave's entrance, wondering if the storm was calming down. She spotted her fellow apprentice, Featherpaw. sitting in front of the split in the rock. Rolling her moss ball back and forth underneath her front paw, Flamepaw tossed the ball up in the air and swatted it hard in Featherpaw's direction, hoping the she-cat would help her entertain herself with a mischievous purr rumbling in the back of her throat.

(Hi! This looks like a really cool Clan. Ā» Tawnypaw ;; 7 moons ;; Sparkly Tawnypaw is a dark brown tabby she-cat. She has black markings in the form of black paws, tailtip, dorsal stripe, underbelly, chest, eyebrows, and inner ear fur. She has a bright pink nose, and beautiful dark green eyes. She is sleek and slender, with a sleek, glossy pelt. Tawnypaw is a good cat in general, and is very street-smart - however, she isn't academic at all, often struggling with her apprenticeship. If she were a Twoleg, Tawnypaw would have autism. She rarely lies, if at all. She can become overwhelmed and tune out easily, and often needs help paying attention. Tawnypaw often repetitively moves in certain ways, or repeats what other cats say. She is very sensitive to noise and light, and can be easily upset by loud or sudden noises. She despises change. She often makes honest but inappropriate statements, and whilst she will respond to social interactions, rarely initiates. She will talk on end about certain subjects that she loves. She is a perfectionist, and feels the need to fix or rearrange objects. She has a certain comfort item - a pebble - which she had since she was two moons old, and carries everywhere. ÉŖį“Ź Blossompaw is a wiry apprentice with thick, bushy fur that never seems to settle, a mottled dark brown, white, and red in color and as voluminous as it comes. He has vibrant green eyes that always look intense no matter the situation, and large ears that add to his overall scruffy-looking stature. Blossompaw is incredibly polite, preferring to be non-confrontational and meek around others, especially authority figures. However, he has a large rebellious streak that comes out when he gets stubbornly fixated on an opinion or strategy, and it would take a lot to waver him from his choices. He could be considered very intelligent and strategic, but despite his brains, he's still a young cat, and will get very carried away by extreme emotion. To summarize- he is well-rounded, quiet, and passive, but he can easily get himself worked up into a frenzy over the smaller details. ÉŖį“Ź 'Looming' is the first word to come to mind when this she-cat is around. Lionstrike is large even for a Mountainclan cat, and her muscular frame just adds to the effect- but in person, she's quite the opposite. A gentle giant, tame and sweet in every interaction, polite and trustworthy. Her long, thick build is coated with pale brown fur, shaggy and bearing resemblance to a mountain lion, her namesake. She has yellow eyes and a long tail, and her sharp fangs alone could send any passing prey into cardiac arrest. Lionstrike is typically very quiet company, following orders without complaint and generally friendly and compliant to all. She won't hesitate to speak out against something that she sees as wrong, but this is very rare and she's prone to bouts of nervousness about the mere concept. One who wasn't familiar with her would say she's generally emotionless and doesn't display passion, but this is incorrect; she just keeps to herself. While her execution of tasks can be clumsy and she tends to trip over her own paws, she carries it out with a kind heart and a clear motive. She can also be a bit oblivious, but not as much as she lets people think. Lionstrike can be brutally honest, but there's never malicious intent behind it; she's simply saying the truth the only way she knows how. ÉŖį“Ź Ravenfeather is the average stature expected of a Mountainclan cat, with black fur and unmemorable traits that allow him to fit in very well amidst a crowd. The same can be said for his outwards personality; he's friendly to a degree, loyal to a fault, and very doting over his clanmates. However, he's a bit of a sucker for the saying 'curiosity killed the cat'- even as he grows to be a senior warrior his search for knowledge gets him into far too much trouble. He's not blind to the dangers of the outside world, but his midnight exploring and constant peppering questions can be tedious and grating for his clanmates to handle. He's like someones grandpa, always cracking cheesy jokes that draw laughs anyways and generally being amicable to others, except in a lively body thats always up to no good. Ravenfeather is no mousebrain, nor is he oblivious, he just tends to get so wrapped up in his own affairs that he dismisses those of others. He's split between the appeal of outside and the love he holds for his clanmates- but despite all his excavations, he has yet to have true tragedy strike his heart and mellow him down.
