Hollowpaw blinked open her eyes and lifted her head, taking a moment to get used to the idea of being able to see again. She had been coming here for almost an entire moon now, and it still took her a little bit to get used to having sight. Hollowpaw stood up and stretched, still feeling sore from the hectic day of training. She looked around for Wrenflight, wondering where he could be. Normally he was waiting for her in this clearing.

Wrenflight, rather than waiting in his usual spot for his apprentice visits, rather waited in the clearing he had once spoken to Silentflare before, long ago when he had tried to bring him deeper into the Dark Forest. Inwardly, he knew that Silentflare would not be the only cat he would be seeing tonight.
He could feel the raw anger, though he remained firm in his attempt to summon Silentflare to him. Surely he would have questions about his precious apprentice, as Wrenflight had planned from the start. After all, Hollowpaw was a means to an end, just like Shadeclaw, to ruin Lightningstar’s clan and pull the only kit he recognized as his own back to him.

Darkeyes prowled around the clearing that Wrenflight had summoned him to. Expertly melding himself to the shadows so he wouldn't be seen. He waited patiently for Wrenflight's call, eager to see his plan unfold.

He knew where we was, he had been here once before. He turned his head when he hear something and gasped softly when he saw Wrenflight. What was going on? Wrenflight’s eyes flickered with recognition and a muted delight as he padded slowly towards his son. “Oh, look at how much you’ve grown, since I’ve last seen you. I could hear you asking for something, all the way from here, you know.” He mused, voice rich with a warped sort of pride. He purred, rusty and thick. “My son. I’ve waited so long to see you again… have you missed me too?”

Silentflare was frozen for a long moment before he moved forward to press his nose into his fathers fur. He let out a sigh, breathing in his familiar scent. “I’ve miss you.” He whispered softly. Why had he been summoned here though? Wrenflight, for the quickest moment, felt a genuine flicker of care in him. It was quickly washed away though, as he remembered how Silentflare had denied his offer moons ago. Rather, he would be content with using him to finally enact his revenge on the cat responsible for his death… and the cat who had stolen leadership from him. “You don’t have to miss me anymore, you know. You can see me, so much more often. All you’ve ever had to do it open yourself to me.” Wrenflight offered lightly, resting his tail on his shoulder. “Something troubles you. Come, you can always tell me.”

Silentflare took a step back, unsure. As much as he misses his father he was still in the dark forest. There was a reason Silentflare cut him off. He didn’t want to be trained there. “It’s my apprentice… she knows moves I haven’t taught her. Moves that I only saw during Adderclan.”

He didn’t want to be trained there. “It’s my apprentice… she knows moves I haven’t taught her. Moves that I only saw during Adderclan.” Wrenflight was still as Silentflare stepped back, his blue eyes like chips of ice in the darkness. Wrenflight mused, silky and smooth. “Ah. I see. Your apprentice. Well, battle moves always have a chance to be uniform. She could have practiced hard to impress you… just like how hard you tried to impress me. You have, you know. My only son.” He mewed with a silky pride, before he finally admitted. “What do you think your apprentice would do to become a respected Warrior, Silentflare? Would you not do the same?” He mused. Wrenflight could feel Yarrowcloud and Peachdapple’s presence beginning to manifest. Soon, they would be here, and would surely accuse their brother of being allied with the Dark Forest, pushing him closer to Wrenflight’s paws. Soon, Darkeyes would help to launch the attack, ready at the signal, hidden in darkness.

Hollowpaw huffed, getting tired of waiting for Wrenflight to show up. She stood up from her spot and looked around the clearing, scenting the air. Maybe he was testing her and was expecting her to search him out. Hollowpaw slipped through the undergrowth and stalked through it quietly, following after Wrenflight’s now familiar scent. If it really was a test, then she better do her best to pass it.

Silentflare shifted on his paws, still unsure. “I don’t know..” he spoke softly. “I don’t think she would have come up with them on her own.” He shook his head. “I would do anything to protect Thunderclan.” He spoke. “But I don’t want to do it the wrong way.”

You think she’s been coming here, hm? I want to ask you though. If she has been, why would you see it as the wrong way? The Dark Forest is more than the evil that’s been fed to you by your Clanmates. Has Starclan really been there for you or your Clan these past moons? Were they there when that fire took your daughter away from you?” Wrenflight asked, light and urging. “After all. If she’s been excelling in her training, shouldn’t that make you proud, my son? Think of how many apprentices you’ll get when the Clan sees how skilled your blind apprentice has become under your teachings.” He grinned, teeth flashing, before he suddenly seemed to change his mood. “But. This isn’t the only reason you’re here. Something made you bothered enough to open yourself up to me. Was it… your brother, perhaps?” He asked, cold and questioning. Now was the time to feed him the lies before Yarrowcloud and Peachdapple could stop it.

Silentflare’s gaze hardened as Wrenflight spoke. He stare at his father before speaking. “It’s the wrong way cause I’m not the one teaching her. I’m not the one making her a better apprentice and a better warrior.” He spoke. When Wrenflight changed the subject to Yarrowcloud he scoffed lightly. “Yarrowcloud is a fool. Today he attacked my apprentice for showing off a little in training. He thinks because she’s young that she hurt another apprentice. Then he wants to act like I can’t mentor her.”

See, you concern yourself with this place, yet you all fail to see the true evil that lies in your clan.” He approached Silentflare with an icy look, anger rising in him. “Did he ever tell you what happened to me? What he did, the night I died?” He inquired.

Silentflare looked at him, his mind slowly being poisoned by Wrenflight. He was feeling more comfortable, more understood. “He told everyone he found you by snake rocks. That you must have fallen cause your neck was broken.” Wrenflight gave a sharp and brutal laugh, as his claws sank into the ground. He growled darkly. “He found me because he was the one who killed me. He threw me off those rocks, do you really think I would be foolish enough to fall off of Snakerocks? And the Clan believed it, didn’t they? I’m sure Lightningstar believed him instantly!” Wrenflight narrowed his eyes. “All of the suffering you’ve faced, it is and always has been his fault.” —— Peachdapple’s eyes opened slowly, an odd sensation filling her body. The air around her seemed to faintly mist, a pure looking faint smoke swirling around her. At her side, Yarrowcloud awakened as well, though he did not share her odd sensation. Yarrowcloud slowly pulled himself up, looking around with muted disdain. “So… this is the Dark Forest… Shadowblossom was right, it looks exactly how she said it would all those moons ago.” “I think my connection to Starclan makes me noticeable here.” Peachdapple mused, eyes narrowing. “If they think some dark trees and rocks will frighten me, they are sorely mistaken. I have a feeling that he may know we’re coming.” “Good.” Yarrowcloud grunted. “It’s our turn to stand over him and bring fear into him.”

Silentflare looked at him with wide eyes. He took a step back in shock. “No no that’s not right.” He spoke in disbelief. Had Yarrowcloud really killed their father? “Yarrowcloud murdered you?” He spoke, voice quiet. It made sense though, why would Wrenflight just fall off snake rocks. He would have had to been pushed. After a few moments the shock was replaced by anger. “Yarrowcloud murdered you.” He repeated again. He was the reason Silentflare had to grow up without a father.

He was the reason Silentflare had to grow up without a father. “That’s right.” Wrenflight nodded smoothly. He felt a flicker of dark satisfaction that Silentflare believed him so easily. Yarrowcloud had murdered him. Though, he kept what happened before to himself. “Your brother always was a rotten kit. He could never do anything right. But, you do. You always have. No kit has made me prouder.” He made no mention of his daughter, as he usually did. ——- Peachdapple padded slowly through the forest, allowing Yarrowcloud to hobble in time. Oddly, there were no signs of cats so far. Peachdapple was convinced this was on purpose. Even so, she stuck close to her brother in case of any danger. They didn’t need such an interruption to what the purpose of this was. Yarrowcloud hobbled onwards, though he paused as he swore he heard the sound of voices. The dark tone made his skin crawl, and fur bristle with anger. He knew that voice.

Silentflare looked at his father. “Why did he kill you?” He asked. “I don’t understand why.” He spoke. How could he not see it earlier? It made so much sense. “Because he-“ “So it’s true.” Yarrowcloud’s deep voice cut in as he brushed through the inky black undergrowth and into the clearing. A cold sort of anger filled his eyes, and he stood as tall as he could on his three legs. At his side, Peachdapple slipped out with an air of confidence, tainted with her own scowl. “You couldn’t just leave it alone when you were gone, could you? Your obsession was just too strong, and you’ve clawed everyone into you in the process.” “Not with what you did to me.” Wrenflight growled coldly, eyes narrowing. “That’s what you’ve been feeding him?” Yarrowcloud scoffed tightly as his heart ached when he glanced at Silentflare. He addressed his brother. “Let me guess. Wrenflight told you that his death was no accident. That I killed him.” He assumed. Peachdapple had her eyes on Silentflare, not caring much to give her father any kind of attention when she cared only about her brother, being in the Dark Forest. Wrenflight’s persuasion was deadly, and she knew that Silentflare had always been vulnerable to that kind of persuasion, no matter how hard she had tried to keep him close to her.

Silentflare was so focused on Wrenflight he didn’t realize Yarrowcloud and Peachdapple had come into the clearing. He jumped slightly, turning his head to look at them. His eyes narrowed and he stepped forward a step infront of Wrenflight. “You killed him.” He looked at Yarrowcloud. “You killed him and lied to the clan.” Yarrowcloud started at Silentflare for a long time. He had already accepted a long time ago that Wrenflight had turned his brother against him, and nothing he could do or say would have changed that. He looked at Wrenflight, feeling anger brew in him at his father’s hateful but knowing look. “I threw him off the Snakerocks. I did.” Yarrowcloud rasped, before he narrowed his eyes. “I’m sure he just happened to forget why I had to. Or did he fail to tell you that he attacked me first? Lunged at me when my back was turned, gave me one small sliver of hope that he actually wanted to spend time with me, before he attacked me?” He mewed, even and no longer afraid. “He wanted me dead. He always has.” “Please, as if anyone would believe such a blatant lie.” Wrenflight scoffed. “It wasn’t hard to, considering the injuries you left on Yarrowcloud that I had to treat.” Peachdapple mewed harshly, finally gaining her father’s narrowed gaze. She flicked an ear. “You really think I couldn’t tell? All the times he tried to show you the love you never deserved, you may have neglected me my entire life, but you hated him. You’re lucky that we even hid it, considering it still gave you grace for your reputation.” “You were so young…” Yarrowcloud rasped quietly to Silentflare. “It was better to let you continue to believe Wrenflight loved you more than he hated me. But…” He looked at Wrenflight once more. “Not even that is true, isn’t it?”

Silentflare looked back at Wrenflight as Yarrowcloud spoke. “That’s not true is it? You didn’t attack him.” He spoke. His voice almost pleading. His father wouldn’t do that. He wouldn’t attack his own clan mate. His own son. He wouldn’t lie to him. “You’re lying Yarrowcloud. You’ve always hated that i was close to him.”

Darkeyes watched, hatred filling him as he took in Peachdapple and Yarrowcloud. His claws dug into the soil in his hiding place, Wrenflight was taking too long, he wanted to claw that idiot Tom and Starclan follower until they were trapped here forever just like they were. What a turn of events, to devote your whole life to those petty Starclan cats and still get stuck in the dark forest. He whipped around at a sudden movement behind him, his grin widened as he caught sight of an orange she-cat, her fur glowing dimly in the darkness. “Oh Lilyleaf! You remembered your promise after all.”
Lilyleaf sighed, joined Darkeyes in his hiding spot. “I’m done owing you after this.” She grit through bared teeth. Her eyes turned to watch Wrenflight and his children, curiosity taking over.

Everytime you struck me or insulted me, for things I never understood, I truly believed for moons that it was my fault! That me being alive was a reason that I deserved to be hated.” Yarrowcloud snapped sharply, glaring at Wrenflight before he looked at Silentflare, the anger in his eyes melting into a deep sadness. “I never hated you for that. Starclan, all I wanted for you was to be loved. And at that time, I wanted to hope that Wrenflight did love you. I really did.” “He doesn’t love anybody but himself.” Peachdapple mewed simply, standing tall as she took a few steps closer to her father. “He may have made you think he did, but he never loved you for who you were, Silentflare. He loved the way you looked at him like he was powerful, like his word was law. Without Morningbloom there to quell it, he fed you everything he could to make you hate others as much as he hated them.” “Do not say her name!” Wrenflight hissed deeply at the medicine cat. Peachdapple merely stood taller, a massive presence compared to the Dark Forest Warrior. She scoffed. “She was our mother. I’ll say her name as much as I please.” “Silentflare, he’s lying to you. He’s always lied, the only thing he ever wanted was leadership. That is why he hates me. Everything he’s done has not been because he loves you. It’s because he hates Lightningstar. The moment I touched Lightningfur’s nose all those moons ago, I destroyed any chance he had of becoming leader.” Yarrowcloud rumbled to his brother. “Do you honestly think Shadeclaw woke up one day and wanted Lightningstar gone? Wanted me gone? Who do you think has been whispering that ideology to him?”

Hollowpaw slowed to a stop when she reached the clearing, staying hidden in the undergrowth and a small frown appearing on her face at what she saw and heard. For a moment, she confused on who the three warriors Wrenflight was talking to were, but blinked in surprise when she finally recognized their scents. What were Silentflare, Peachdapple and Yarrowcloud doing here? Hollowpaw peered through the undergrowth of her hiding spot, taking in the sight of her three clanmates for the first time and listening to the argument between them. She flicked her ear uneasily at what she was hearing. Wrenflight wouldn’t have attacked Yarrowcloud like that, would he? And Yarrowcloud was the one who killed him?
Rosethorn slipped through the shadows and appeared next to Lilyleaf and Darkeyes, “Oh? It hasn’t started yet? Such a shame, I didn’t think I would be here so early.” She said in a quiet, silky voice. She looked over at Lilyleaf, a small teasing smile on her face, “I see Darkeyes has managed to convince you to help after all.”

Silentflare looked back and forth between his siblings and his father. No. They had to be lying. Wrenflight loved him and meant those things. He just wanted him to be strong. “No no you’re lying.” He spoke, voice unsure. “You killed him, Yarrowcloud.” He spoke. When his brother brought up his son he froze. What he said made sense.. The false kindness seemed to flicker away as suddenly as it came. He had them right where he wanted them. He mewed with a calm sneer. “You should be thanking me, you know. For keeping the cats closest to you away from the hypocrisy of Starclan. Shadeclaw wanted to be stronger, to impress you, my son. I helped him achieve more than anyone could. For a moment, he was leader of Thunderclan! What father wouldn’t be proud of that? You refused my training moons ago, and I respected that. You were not ready. But, my grandson wanted my help. So. I helped him.” Yarrowcloud glared angrily at the admission, while Peachdapple gave a thick growl. “Blaming Starclan for your own awful deeds. Typical, of a cat like you… and if Silentflare denied your training as you said-“ “Then Silentflare didn’t show Hollowpaw that move.” Yarrowcloud mewed suddenly, eyes flickering with realization. He looked up, accusing. “You did. You showed her that move.” Wrenflight grinned, teeth flashing at that. “Now you’re getting it. But, you’ll be dead before you can ever wake up to tell anybody.” He lifted his tail suddenly, signaling for his allies to launch their attack. Peachdapple bristled suddenly, her hackles raised in realization.

Darkeyes roared, throwing himself at Yarrowcloud next to Wrenflight. "Oh so nice to finally meet you Yarrowcloud." he sneered as he slashed at the tom. "I can't say I see what my daughter sees in you."
Lilyleaf smiled at Rosethorn before launching herself at Silentflare. "Oh aren't you cute?" she giggled as she aimed a slash at his eyes.
