”No, it’s time for me to go. It just feels... right.” The she-cat jumped down to the much softer, and even greener side of the fence. Looking down at the blades brushing her paws, a smile crept onto her face. ”It’s like mama always said... ‘the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.’ I didn’t know she meant literally!” She whispered the phrase to herself, and the way the wind blew in her ears, it sounded like her mother, Twinkle, had said it too, as if to tell Ruby that she was making the right choice. Smog smiled softly, leaping down next to Ruby. He was mildly proud of the she-cat - it took courage to leave one's home behind. "I'll teach you how to look after yourself," He mewed. "How to hunt, and defend yourself. And one day, you'll find the place with the greenest grass you could possibly imagine, and maybe it'll become your new home." |

Ruby
Ruby was glad she had Smog with her, someone kind and patient and willing to teach her. Looking around, she takes in the view and wonders where to go, what to do next.
Her silent questions are answered by the caw of a hawk diving down to catch a mouse. Swiveling on her paws to face Smog, she curls her tail over her back. ”Could you teach me how to hunt? Maybe not real prey, but practicing crouching and pouncing?”
She got down low to the ground, tucking her paws deep underneath her. Her tail twitched with excitement as she attempted a pounce on a nearby leaf. It was a clumsy landing, one paw landing a second before the other, causing her to teeter over on her side. Maybe the fall was a bit exagerrated, but she didn’t care as she enjoyed the new, kit-like wonder of exploring the forest. |

Jasmine | Pearl | Shorty with Mimi, Oliver, Spirit | Shadow, Tawny, Pepper
Taking quiet notice of the tom's low rumbling as they approached, Jasmine regarded him carefully at first. At the mention of their clanmates they nodded once, slowly.
"Those are two of my clanmates, I suppose the others still haven't made their way back yet," Jasmine said aloud. I do hope they're ok, the cat thought before sweeping their tail to motion at the cats behind them. "These aren't clanmates yet, but they may want to be. I'm guessing you are too, if you've been waiting for Jasmine?"
Pearl looked at the three cats, deciding that at least the she-cats didn't seem too intimidating. The tom, however, was covered in scars and growling at them. She gulped just as Shorty pressed against her side. The patchy cat knew that her brother was at least a little nervous as well, no matter how cool a facade he put out.
Berry | Badger with Emiko & Obsidian
Berry moved to sit next to Badger while Emiko did her thing. After having been around her for so long, the ginger knew to give the spotted cat space in times like these. Unless prompted to help of course, then you worked as diligently as possible. Even with a sideways glance to the large tom who'd come with them, Berry had no idea what to say to him. She wasn't exactly sure why he'd followed them, but would asking be rude? Probably, and she didn't want to be rude so she kept her mouth shut.
On roughly the same paw, Badger had raised his brow when Berry had sat with him, both watching the Bengal work in awe. At first he wasn't sure why he'd come with the she-cats to find the injured cat, maybe in case they were in danger and needed protection. When that wasn't the case, he'd just sat awkwardly, feeling useless. When Emiko told the cat to stay off his paw, Badger at least had an idea of how he could be of use. He'd just stood up to make an offer when the other tom's stomach betrayed his lack of meals.
The black and white cat slunk off into the bushes, and Berry had assumed he was heading back to the clearing. She was just about to join when the undergrowth rustled and panicked squeaks came from within. Not a moment later, Badger came back with a small mouse in his jaws. She watched as he dropped it at the tiny cat's paws.
"When you're done, I can carry you back to the others," he offered quietly.

Ruby
”Alright!” She nodded, deciding to taste the air as well. A whole bunch of fresh new smells assaulted her taste buds and nostrils. Overwhelmed, Ruby sneezed. She just hoped it wasn’t loud enough to scare away all the prey.
She decided to try again, inhaling the air more slowly this time. She was greeted with the same smells, except a lot more gently. She began to try and sort them out. This was going to be harder than she thought.
Pepper
Pepper sat and watched the exchange between all the cats around her. She nodded at the she-cat’s question, speaking up a bit from behind Shadow. She didn’t dare utter a word, however, in case she were to say something offensive. Besides, it seems that Shadow has things under control.
Obsidian
He watched the big tom leave, then come back with a mouse. Obsidian tensed as the burly cat stepped closer, wincing at the sudden flex in his paw, but began to relax as the one who goes by Badger dropped the prey and offered it.
Obsidian bowed his head, scootching closer to the mouse, and began to gulp it down in quick, rapid bites. Sitting back up, he blinked. These cats have been so nice to him, a stranger, and he’s yet to tell them his name! ”T-Thank you. I’m Obsidian, by the way.” His voice shook, although more from exhaustion than shyness at this point.
”I don’t want to be a burden to you... I can walk back with you, if that’s okay?” He began to test his three good legs to see if they’d carry him, and, although a bit wobbly, seemed to manage fine. He flicked his tail side to side to help him stay upright. |

"Yes! We're waiting for a cat named Jasmine," Tawny piped up, her voice determined. They were getting closer and closer to a result! Maybe they'd even end up joining the group. That would be brilliant - and hopefully, her new home would have Shadow there, too. The older tom was one of the first cats that she'd properly trusted in a long, long time...

Smog dropped into an expert hunting crouch. He gestured to Ruby, getting her to follow his gaze to where a plump mouse was snuffling in the leaves. He took a few steps forward, before leaping, landing on his quarry. The mouse let out a small squeak, before going limp. Smog picked up his catch, returning to Ruby with his tail high. "Now you try it," he encouraged.

Ruby
She watched with curious and focused eyes, mimicing his crouch as he hunted. When he pounced, she did too, on a tuft of grass she was eyeing.
When it was her turn, she tasted the air. It took her a bit to separate the smells, but when she did, a scuttling noise in the foliage verified her thoughts. She turned to face it, the scent of a squirrel became clearer. Trying her best to replicate Smog’s crouch, Ruby waited for the prey to wander out a bit further, which it did. Not waiting a moment longer, she pounced. Too short. She caught the fur of the squirrel’s bushy tail, but it screeched and ran up a tree for cover.
Turning to Smog with her ears flattened, she sighed. ”Sorry. I’ll try harder next time.” |

Ruby
Immediately perking up like a kit at his praise, Ruby nodded and got back down into a crouch. She started with a standard crouch that all cats came equipped with, where her paws were tucked in slightly and her haunches higher above the ground. Then, she began to picture Smog’s crouch from just now, moving one paw in at a time slowly as she lowered her back. She felt wobbly on her paws scrunched beneath her, but Ruby tried to keep balance with her tail.
Afraid to turn her head in case she were to lose balance, she spoke softly. ”Does this look better? Are my paws tucked in too much? Am I low enough?” She couldn’t really stop herself from asking so many questions at once, her pent up energy bubbling out into her words as she stood perfectly still. |

Oh. That would make sense. She began to slide each paw out further, waving her tail about to keep her balance. Eventually, her legs seemed to lock naturally in place, and Ruby stuck out her tail like instructed. Looking to Smog, she blinked. ”Is this better?”
A small gust of wind ruffled her fur, but she overthought the force of the breeze and instinctively dug her claws in the muddy ground to keep herself from falling over. It worked, but she wasn’t actually falling in the first place, so it really made no difference other than muck squishing up between her toes. She grimaced to herself, desperate to clean out the mud, but remained still. |

The she-cat pondered over her choices for a bit, stretching out of her crouch. She wasn’t hungry, still full from her previous meal. The last meal she’ll ever have there, too. Huh.
Shaking the thought from her head, Ruby yawned. ”You can go ahead and eat; I’m still full. And I think finding somewhere to shelter would be the better option, since I don’t wanna waste any prey.” |

Wow, there was a lot more stuff in her fur than she thought. Flicking her ears as a silent thanks, Pepper decided to try and find out which one was Jasmine; the answer seemed pretty obvious, though, considering the she-cat in front seemed to be taking lead.
Flashing her gaze to the fluffy silver-and-white cat at the front, Pepper decided to pipe up. ”Are you Jasmine? You kind of seem like you’re the one in charge here. Why are you tiptoeing around such a simple answer?”
She blinked, suddenly aware of all eyes on her; or rather in her general direction. She quickly clamped her mouth shut and tried to shrink back as much as possible. |

He hadn't quite realised how hungry he was, but after finishing his meal, he was relatively satisfied. "Let's go," He said to Ruby, starting off at a quick pace. |

Ruby blinked, quickly catching up to Smog. She looked at her surroundings, smiling as she matched her steps with the tom’s. Not watching her paws, she caught her hind paw on an unearthed root, throwing her off balance and bumping straight into Smog. ”Sorry! I tripped.” Ruby gave an embarrassed laugh, scooting a bit away and shaking out her fur. |

Jasmine | Shorty | Pearl with Spirit, Mimi, Oliver | Pepper, Tawny, Shadow
Of course Jasmine thought about toying with these cats, passing Mimi or maybe even little Spirit off as the suddenly legendary Jasmine, but in the end didn't want to put anyone else on the spot for their prank. They were just about to let these new cats know they were indeed the cat in question when the white-and-black she-cat challenged them.
Even after she seemed to realize what she had done and backed down, Jasmine couldn't help but give an impressed smile. "I am Jasmine, yes. There was no reason for my stalling, but now I must ask if the reason you were searching for me is because you're looking to help build a clan?"
Pearl watched as Jasmine sat down, tail wrapping around their paws. They looked cozy, very at ease despite being around so many unknown cats. It's like they were born for this, she thought.
Berry | Badger with Obsidian & Emiko
Respecting the younger cat's decision, Badger nodded. "Nice to meet you Obsidian," he and Berry said in near unison. They looked up at each other and blinked in confusion. Berry then started laughing enough to fall to her side. The larger cat blinked again before shaking his head, it would definitely take time for him to get used to being around such an outgoing cat.
"It isn't too far, but I'll stay close in case you need any help," he told Obsidian.
Done with her outburst, Berry rolled to her paws. "Let's go then, I'm worried about the others getting back and only finding strange cats in place of us," she said as she headed back to the clearing.

Collecting herself, Ruby continued to walk alongside Smog, sniffing the air. She had no idea what was what, except for Smog’s strong scent beside her. Shrugging, she looked over. ”Do you have any idea where you’re going? You seem pretty focused.”
Pepper
Relaxing once more, Pepper nodded. ”I know these two were looking for you, but I just kind of showed up out of the blue, and decided to stick around.” Swishing her tail across the ground, she smiled. ”I’m Pepper, by the way.”
Obsidian
The scrawny tom nodded a silent thanks to the group of cats as he slowly hopped on his three good legs, sniffing the air. Apart from these cats’ scents, he could smell a trace of others. He couldn’t decipher how many there were, and Obsidian began to feel nervous again, although he tried not to show it. |

"Somewhat," Smog replied, trotting along at a steady pace. "I know a few good spots to build a makeshift den around here. We might have to sleep under a bush overnight, though, if we can't find an abandoned badger-set or anything."

She smiled, and started to look around to help find shelter. She’s not quite sure what a badger set looks like, but she assumes it’s like a rabbit burrow, but huge. Ruby’s heard a lot about badgers from her dad, as well as the crazy old cats around twolegplace. ”So, how exactly do you make a nest out here? There obviously aren’t any of those fluffy ones. I’ve heard you can use moss, but is that it? It seems so bland.”
Ruby blinked. She really did sound like a housecat. But she had to accept that she couldn’t have those luxuries any more, not in this new life she’ll be living. ”I’m willing to try anything though!” She hastily added, trying not to sound soft and pampered. |

"Yes, we use moss and twigs to build a nest up," Smog explained. "Some cats like to decorate theirs with pebbles, feathers, leaves, flowers, or eggshells, though," He added. He often left his nest plain, and had done since he was about 36 moons old, but in his youth, he had enjoyed decorating with flowers, leaves, and feathers.

((By the way, does anyone want to claim one of Mimi's kits when they're born? I'm probably gonna play one myself, a blue tabby she-cat. The other two I'm thinking a cream tabby tom that looks a lot like his mother and a dilute calico she-cat. Their father was actually a black cat with white spotting who carried the Dilute gene.))

Shadow huffed teasingly, finishing up Pepper's grooming. "There you go," He rumbled, nudging her gently as he got to his paws and ambled back over to Tawny. "I'll stay for a while at least, if you don't mind," He replied, smiling down at Tawny, surprised at how quickly he had gotten attached to the young she-cat. He ran a paw over her head, scrubbing at her fur a bit. "I want to help this one stay out of trouble," He growled teasingly.
Mimi couldn't help but smile at the antics of the three cats. She paused a moment, something about the youngest one catching her attention. Smile softening into warmth, she stepped forward until she was just behind Jasmine. "I'm Mimi," She introduced herself, eyes locked on tawny, "And it looks like we'll be spending a bit of time together in any case." She turned slightly so that her stomach was clearly visible.
Emiko with Berry, Badger and Obsidian
Emiko padded back to Berry, brushing her side along that of her Clanmate. She was sad that a cat had gotten hurt, but part of her was glad to be useful. "You'll like the others, I think," She smiled at Obsidian, "We're a strange bunch, but friendly enough. We can help you until your paw heals and, if you decide you like us, you can stick around if you want." SHe paused slightly, before tilting her head at him. "Oh, and I'm Emiko by the way, which you probably heard already, but I thought it poilte to properly introduce myself as well. It's nice to meet you, Obsidian."

She nodded her head in agreement as Smog listed off the materials, until he said... ”Eggshells? That just sounds sticky and uncomfortable! I’d rather sleep on a stone floor than in a nest full of shells.” The she-cat tried to hold in a big yawn, but her muscles got the upper hand against her brain. Ending it with a huff, Ruby flicked ger tail. ”Not to sound like a kit, but are we almost near a good spot? My paws are starting to ache and I feel like I can’t keep my eyes open.” So much for not sounding pampered.
Pepper
The blotchy she-cat noticed the other cat, Mimi, had a swollen belly. Her eyes glittered with excitement. All of these cats were definitely have their paws full in no time! She was about to congratulate the two, but her nose caught scent of the others returning. She silently turned her gaze off into the distance, clearly distracted by it. A few heartbeats would pass, but the foliage had yet to shiver with movement. She shook her head. She’s probably just smelling their old scents.
Obsidian
He nodded again, giving a small smile to Emiko. ”Thank you for helping. All of you. I wasn’t sure if I was going to survive out here...” His thoughts drifted to Sapphire once more, and he sighed. It didn’t make sense. There was no reason for her to go. Was the world just that cruel? Shaking his head, he continued along. He had to keep going, he had to find the clan. He had to, for her.
And with the recent events, he felt that he had just gotten closer to his — no, their — goal. ((I could take one of the kits? I don’t mind which)) |

((I'd be happy to take the cream tabby tom. I feel like I play/make a lot of calicos and have been trying to break from that lol ))
Berry | Badger with Obsidian & EmikoBerry walked ahead of the group, beginning to get a little anxious as they got closer to the clearing and she picked up the scent of more cats. Only one was familiar. Jasmine. The peaceful sounds of the forest calmed the ginger cat, telling her that at least there was no fighting going on.

And most definitely wouldn't keep anyone against their will," Jasmine told the cats. A glimmer of amusement passed over their green eyes as Mimi introduced herself to the other pregnant cat. Before anyone could say more, four more cats came from the bushes. "You found more," they simply stated, nodding to Badger and Obsidian. Berry flicked her tail. "Badger found us, for them," she said as she motioned to Shadow and Tawny. "Obsidian we did just find though. He at least needs to stay until he heals. Oh! Emiko and I found a better place for camp." For as reserved as Jasmine has tried to be so far, the news about the camp expansion sent them into a state of elation. They bounced up before bounding over to Berry. The smaller cat was nearly knocked over as their leader collided with her. Even so she laughed before looking around again. There were so many cats now, making the clearing seem cramped. "Once Winchester and Royal and Prince get back we should go," she suggested. Jasmine sobered up and nodded.
((Bʟᴀᴄᴋғᴇᴀᴛʜᴇʀ hasn't been on since 11/21 so for now I think we'll just pretend their cats are around?))

She blinked at the arrival of the others. So it wasn’t her nose playing tricks on her; their scents were stronger, and there was another cat. Did no one else scent them?
Shrugging, she turned back to the group. She only caught a glimpse of Jasmine’s outburst, and chuckled quietly to herself. They sure do seem to glow with pride and accomplishment, which Pepper can only assume is from fulfillment, be it self- or otherwise. Then, she frowned.
Am I an important role in their story? Or am I just a passerby?
She looked up at the dimming sky, as if searching for answers. She must have been doing it for a while because the newcomer, the fluffy black tom, prodded her side. |

The frail tom looked around at the new cats, eyes wide. They all seem to be in their own groups; where would he go?
Just when he was about to give up and lay down, he noticed the spotty black-and-white she-cat sitting a bit off to the side. Getting up, making sure to keep his weight off of his injured paw, he hobbled over.
”Hi, my name is Obsidian. It’s nice to meet you.” His voice was shaky, but he tried his best to look calm. It didn’t help when she didn’t answer, though. Actually, she looked like she was spacing out.
Daringly, he prodded her side and introduced himself again. ”Hello? I’m Obsidian. It’s nice to meet you?” That sounded more like a question that time, oops. He was just glad when the she-cat responded with her name, Pepper, and a friendly greeting.
Feeling that he’d overstayed his welcome with the strange cat, he decided to shimmy his way over to his rescuers. Socializing was harder than he thought, but he knew that making friends would benefit him; he just had to relax. |

"Yes, I think that we have a spot here," Smog announced. He gestured to a large den, which looked like it had once been a fox set, but was definitely abandoned now. "Gather up some leaves and moss for the nests, and I'll go do a little more hunting," He instructed.

Tawny sat down, chest puffing out slightly. She was completely ecstatic - new friends! A new home! And, possibly, somewhere permanently safe from Smog. Jasmine would turn Smog away if he showed up, right? All she'd need to do was say what happened to her, and he'd be gone... right?

Winchester had been wandering the forest for some time, when he caught the scent of new cats. He perked up, scenting his own Clanmates among the new scents. He changed path, eventually emerging into the clearing. "Hello, Jasmine," He mewed, noticing both his Clanmates and several new cats amongst the group. "Are more cats joining the Clan?"
