I see lots of fans demanding more platonic relationships in warriors now and then. There is lots of romance scattered though out the series, but I wonder why it makes some people upset since there are a lot of platonic relationships too. Cinderpelt and Littlecloud, Yellowfang and Firestar, Tall Shadow and Gray Wing, Briarlight and Jayfeather for a few examples.

3 out of 4 of those examples included medicine cats. thats why they're platonic.

they probably want characters who are only involved in platonic relationships. preferably a tom and a she-cat.

@33 minutes Not exactly the type of answer I was looking for, but okay.
@wicked witch I agree, but I wonder why seemingly everybody wants it.

they want it because they want what they want when they want it jk
it could be the vocal minority or people have come to agree with what a platonic relationship could do for readers: like showing how not every tom and she-cat who are nice to each other will become mates. this can even be played with in the story itself were other cats will assume that these cats are mates and it makes them uncomfortable. which is quite relatable for those who have friends of the opposite gender.

Hm... So perhaps many readers feel a disconnect with romantic relationships in warriors because they find them unrelatable? Instead they rather see friendships because they are more comfortable and familar to their own lives. I guess I could agree to that since I don't find romantic relationships in warriors very relatable in my own life.

Not only does it have to do with relatability, but it would also be realistic. Not every male and female who are friends get together. Not only that, but it would be a nice change since alot of major pairings in the series ended up being romantic in some way, at least when it involves the protagonist anyway. Then there's also the fact that sometimes the romance just isn't all that well-written.

For me, it's relatability. Let me tell you a story.
So in 5th-6th grade, I had a really close friend (He's a boy, I'm a girl.) who would always chat with me about Nintendo and video games and stuff. However, everyone in my class (except a few amazing people) was like "hey is he your boyfriend" or something. Imagine being asked this every day just because you're a girl who chats with a guy. It was annoying to the point where one day, someone asked me and I snapped and said "shut up". I'm the kind of kid who never talks, so you could tell I was furious.
Me and the boy don't hang out anymore because of homeschool, but it was still annoying whenever someone asked about it even though I've said no a million times.
This is why I want a platonic relationship, so that people will learn that you can be a girl with a male friend or vice versa. It's not that difficult, people!

My best friend when I was younger was a boy- and then, we got another best friend who was also a boy- so I'm pretty sure everyone thinks I'm a bit if a female player because I tend to make friends with guys. There's no particular reason behind it, it's just that by coincidence a lot of my friends right now are male.
So yeah, I think it might be a thing of relatability too- I'm riding my hopes on Alderpaw and Needlepaw being platonic right now. I know that Twigkit and Violetkit probably will be friends, but that's because they're estranged sisters so...
EDIT: Plaaptonic is not a word, Smiley.
