I noticed that whenever someone picks a very young cat with powers, these cats don't have time to grow up fast and develop their own personality.
For example, Cloudberry decided to put Goosefeather as an apprentice very early because he had powers. Why force this? It made others become against Goosefeather and jealous of him, forcing him to have a hard time getting along with others. Cloudberry and Pearnose also pressured him, saying that "He should have known everything by now" Well, excuse me, but you guys were the one who wanted him to become an apprentice early while he should still be at his mother's belly!
Dovewing is probably immature (not now, she's amazing now, but) but because of the prophecy, she never had time to grow up. Complaining at her age about the prophecy is normal. But even Dovewing worried if they were supposed to be warriors or not before the prophecy is fulfilled. She didn't have time to be herself or do whatever she wanted to do. Lion and Jay both ordered her around and Fire kept asking her to spy. She wanted to become closer to her sister, but she couldn't, because of the prophecy, which gave her a very hard time to get along with her sister.
Jay and Lion are different. They both handled the prophecy well because they were older than Dove and Goose. And Holly wanted to become a part of the prophecy.
Crowfeather had no time to develop his personality. He had a crush over Feather and then when she died, he knew nothing but grief. He even became suicidal. When Leaf left him he became bitter. His life was all about love for Leaf and Feather. He never had time to develop his own personality, and when he did he already screwed up his life and people don't like him. I like him, though. But anyway.
I think Prophecies just gives cats a very hard time to grow up and developing personalities. Cats should be able to grow up a normal life. Dove should not have been forced to accept it. She should have been given time, like Jay and Lion, and she probably would have accepted it better. Goose should have had more time too. Jay and Lion already developed their own personalities during their kithood when they accepted their powers. Dove and Goose should have been the same.

Agreed. But StarClan can't control when the prophecies come...(at least I think)

Jayfeather wasn't that much older than Dovewing when he found out was he? He was only a moon or two into his apprenticeship wasn't he?

Yeah that's a good point...and Bluestar too. She was given her prophecy very young and spent a long time fearing water and everything she did, was for the prophecy. I really feel bad for her
