Characters that are more important than we realize

We all know the main characters are extremely important, but what are some side characters that are more important than we realize?
Birchfall is pretty important if you think about it. If he had died as a kit, many things in the series would have changed. First of all, Ashfur would have been exiled from ThunderClan after Sunset. Without Birchfall, his cover would have been blown and Firestar would have realized Ashfur had lead him into a trap. Either that, or Firestar wouldn't have even gone down to the lake at all. Therefor, Hawkfrost would have never been killed, at least not then.
And if Hawkfrost lived into the Power of Three series, he could have done a lot more damage. He could have killed Firestar during the battle in Eclipse, and he would have definitely used Sol to his advantage which would be disastrous.
Also, if Ashfur ended up being exiled, that means the fire scene in Long Shadows probably wouldn't have happened. Then the Three would have never learned the secret, and they would have all continued to live on thinking Squirrelflight and Bramblestar were their parents. And if that happened, then perhaps Alderpaw and Sparkpaw wouldn't have been born.
And with no Birchfall, there would be no Dovewing and Ivypool. Without Dovewing, the cats would have never been able to bring the water back to the lake, and more cats would have died. More cats also would have died when the tree fell into camp. The cats might have even needed to move to a new territory. Also, without Ivypool, the battle in Fading Echos wouldn't have happened. That means we could have had Russetstar.
