Dovekit Frostedstar's Den With Frostedstar & littermates [@velveteenwolf ]
Small compared to her long legs, Dovekit held promise for later life. Already, she was beginning to try to explore - blindly nosing her way over the furry mountain that smelled of milk. She scrambled with young limbs, tried desperately to climb to the top. But her efforts were not enough and she tumbled down and onto her back, legs kicking wildly until she rolled back over on her own and gave a mewl of annoyance. Everything was so much. She wanted to see the world but her eyes were to young to open, which only frustrated her more. Her tail stuck up as she shakily clawed her way through moss, baby claws splaying as she continued to mewl. Her nose tilted blindly to the scent of another cat and curiosity overwhelmed - but she seemed to decide that the effort was too much and slowly turned around, instead choosing to make her way toward her mother's scent. It was a comfort, but she wasn't searching for milk. No, not at all. Dovekit bumped against her mother and, after what seemed like a moment's thought, she bumped her cheek against what scented like her mother's head. It was like she was saying hello! I'm here! without so many words, for she could not yet form them. Her little tail waved aimlessly, unsure of what it wanted to do. She kept her paws on the queen's chest, blindly tilting her head back before she slid down, legs not yet strong enough to hold up her entire weight. This seemed to only irritate her further, for she squeaked loudly.

Pigeonsong Frostedstar's Den With Frostedstar and the kits [@velveteenwolf]
Conflicted thoughts swirled around Pigeonsong's mind as he headed towards his daughter's den, tail lashing back and forth and ears half-pinned. His daughter had been expecting kits. She had now had them, and he was going to meet them. In one aspect, he was glad that his legacy was being continued. Perhaps one of them will become a leader, too, he thought, trying to find the light side of things. He pushed his way into the den and barely glanced towards Gracklefur as he studied Frostedstar with a sharp gaze. Then, he looked to the kittens. Something about him seemed to soften. He was a harsh, stern cat - but not heartless. The old tom moved to sit by his kit, lowering his head to look at the small kits. It reminded him of when Frostedstar had been born - and it brought a small purr to his throat. "How are you doing?" he asked her. It was a start. Was he angry that he hadn't been told before about her pregnancy? Of course. But could he maintain his anger when his daughter had these tiny little things by her? Of course not. But the lecture would be incoming about her irresponsibility in this situation. Pigeonsong's tail-tip twitched as he watched each kit in turn. They seemed healthy and strong, but he expected no less from his bloodline. They had survived for many generations for a reason. Pride at his kin made him softer, for now. He did like kits, after all.

Grimacing as Dovekit took it upon herself to use her wounded side as a climbing frame, the queen watched with an amused twitch of her whiskers. Assuming her mottled side would seem like the Evergreen Cliffside to a kitten so tiny and sweet. Chuckling a little when the kitten lost her grip and slipped down her flank as though it was a slide, only to land with a soft thump in the moss bellow. She rasped her tongue between Dovekit's ears in a soothing gesture when she mewled, less in distress and more in frustration, Frostedstar couldn't help the smile which melted the harshness from her expression. Cuddling Dovekit briefly to her chest when she came close enough, she soon let her free before the kit complained of constraint. The little one seemed to be an adventurer already, and her heart warmed at the thought of her tiny kits one day growing in to fine warriors she knew they had the potential to become.
Finding her grip on Dovekit's scruff, the exhausted queen carefully lifted the kitten up and helped replace the fluffy kitten back on her unstable paws. Offering the tip of her nose in case the impossibly little shecat decided to attempt the dangerous feat of climbing Peak Frostedstar, her eyes were narrowed with concentration to ensure none of her five kits found themselves harm or hurt.
However, she lifted her mottled head at the sound of pawsteps by her den entrance. Not entirely welcoming of newcomers into her den just yet. The kits were tiny and premature, and she was ill. It wasn't the best situation to view one's leader in, and her eyes narrowed all the more when she noted it was her own father. Nestling the kits closer to her flank, the gesture wasn't necessarily a defensive one, but there was a level of caution as to how she carried herself around the tom cat. Their relationship... had always been a strained one.
"I'm ok," she lied. Knowing all too well her father had never been the most sympathetic cat in the world, and looked down upon weakness as though it was the world's greatest plague. But she shrugged off her own pain, prioritising her kittens above all else in their first few days when they needed her most. "Have you come to meet your grandkits, or scold me?" This time her words carried more of her trademark humour. The smile lighting her expression was apparent.

Sorry I'm taking so long, my internet is really bad. )) Beetlekit | Frostedstar's Den | Frostedstar, Pigeonsong, Dovekit + Other Siblings![](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR49lyd1bEeOqtz9uCukm9e4R5sqAq7WxVNoH9w6dTQKt01gHRj) Beetlekit mewled in a startled confusion as one of the squirming figures wriggled closer to her, before returning to their mother's side. The little shecat tried to follow who she would learn in the future was named Dovekit, but her efforts fell short. Her legs weren't strong enough to hold her weight, so she moved by pushing sideways in the moss in almost a swimming motion. Tail sticking straight out behind her legs as she moved, Beetlekit quickly tired and went motionless with a faint mewling escaping her mouth. Then a shadow passed over her head, stirring the kit as she wriggled onto her side, blinking blindly at this new mass beside Frostedstar. The white and black mottled shekit worked her way closer to the white speckled girth of her mother, drinking in the sense of warmth and protection. Milk tantalized her nose as she nuzzled into her mothers side beside her siblings.Pineshade | Camp, Medicinecat denPineshade stirred in the medicine cat's den, his eyes clouding over as he tried to remember where he was. Slowly but surely, the memories returned with the sensation of a sharp bite. Flashing teeth, thick foamy saliva sticking to his face and chest fur, the stench of fox overpowering his senses...... Pineshade flattened his orange ears, banishing the imagery to the back of his mind. No, he was safe, and most importantly Frostedstar- Frostedstar! The white and orange splashed tom leaped to his feet, his thick fur sticking up in every which direction. He remembered now, that she had been kitting and in bad shape. After he and Littlefoot had chased off the fox, everything was a hazy blur. Whether it be bloodloss or his waning adrenaline, the warrior couldn't remember how he got back to camp. A searing sensation set fire to his lower back leg as he moved. Wincing, Pineshade tried again, stretching out the stiff ligaments. The more he moved it, the less the wound crippled his movement. It still bloody stung, but was manageable. Pride swelled in the toms chest as he shifted in the makeshift moss nest, remembering how he had handled the situation. He was terrified, mind you, but accepted it and fought with everything he could.
Worry wrinkled the insides of his eyes as he remembered Littlefoot. Was she okay? The fox had almost gotten to her, but the ringing in his head reminded him that it hadn't. While he was slow and an average fighter, his momentum, and weight was enough to knock the fox out of the way. Cautiously lifting himself to his paws, Pineshade limped out of the medicine cat den while favoring his left side. ![](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/10/bb/92/10bb920041069cfae4756f2bcfb68d1b--turkish-van-cats-models.jpg)

The young leader managed a tired chuckle, thoughslightly surprised it had been to days already. She had lost track of the days in the midst of unconsciousness and her dazed state, she let out a soft purr. “Have you seen their little faces? Can you blame me for wanting to spend time with them?” She asked with a tilt to her head, though having to bite back a mreow of amusement when the kitten used Gracklefur’s tail as a chew to. Leaning down to lift the kitten weakly by the scruff of its neck and moved to replace him at her flank. Only to flinch when she lost her grip on its scruff, and it slipped to the ground with a gentle thump. Thankfully unhurt, but the tiny creature began wailing at the sudden movement and landing. Frostedstar sighed, nosing its ears in an apologetic manner before tugging the kitten close with her hind leg. “It appears this little one seems to think you are delirious Gracklefur” her words were playful. Gracklefur looked at the plush faces of the kits, they mewed and nuzzled against their mother. “Adorable.” He said coolly, even though he tolerated kits, he never understood the “hype” around them. All they do is cry, want milk, play silly games, also they tend to be exterminated blunt. A kit once told Gracklefur he had the face of a dead fish. His ears flicked at the sound of the wailing kit, “I hope that one’s not a future medicine cat.” He said with a low rumble. He moved his tail behind him to keep the kit from returning.

"Occasionally I do thank StarClan," Frostedstar returned her head to her paws with a chuckling sigh. "That medicine cat's can't have kittens, for I fear you might have exploded from the moment they were born," the glitter to her gaze gave evidence to the fact she carried no malice in her meaning, only play. She was too tired to argue or fight, especially not with the tom who was meant to be her closest ally aside from her deputy. Twitching her ears towards the kitten he had gestured to, she smiled. "If she's got the same stubbornness as you, I think she would make you a fine apprentice," she retorted with a mischievous purr. Aiding Beetlekit's painfully slow journey to her side with a sweep of her long tail, Frostedstar touched her nose to the rabbit Gracklefur had offered her, and took the first proper bite of prey she'd had in days. Her stomach rumbling loudly as she did so, but she didn't grow embarrassed. Few could find annoyance in a hungry queen.
But there was something on her mind, and worry darkened her gaze as she looked to Gracklefur. "Is Wolfmane ok?" The last memory she had of her mate was in the blurry midst of the fox fight. And though she had been assured no one had died, it did little to help her fears.

Pigeonsong Frostedstar's Den With Frostedstar & the kits [@velveteenwolf ]
His head angled to the side as he watched Frostedstar, eyes narrowed. I'm okay was weak, but he'd accept it and wouldn't push the matter. He looked down as one of the kits seemed to try to get to the edge of the nest, and he only fluffed out his chest a little more upon noticing her silver colouring. Then, he looked towards his kit with a thoughtful look. "Both, I suppose," he mewed, rolling his shoulders in a shrug. "Seeing my grandkits is nice. They look healthy, and I am proud of you for kitting such beautiful kits."
It was honesty - perhaps he was too stern, perhaps he expected too much; but in the end, he was proud of Frostedstar. She was a success. However, his gaze darkened a little as he studied her closer. "But you are a leader, and now you are weakened. You should have told somebody sooner so that you could have rested more - you could have brought serious harm to both yourself and your little ones. What were you thinking?" for once, he kept his tone relatively even. The kittens would be sensitive right now, and he didn't want to cause any true trouble. "You have brought strong blood to VerglasClan, and so I won't talk your ear off more. But I did expect better of you, Frostedstar."
He wondered if she knew that he loved her - that she was his pride and joy. Or had he always been too harsh? Their relationship was strained, but he couldn't dwell on it for now. He leaned over and rasped his tongue over Frostedstar's forehead in something of an affectionate gesture. LittlefootVerglasClan Camp With Pineshade [ Tekoa] Anxiety had welled in her chest and had pushed her to hunt, and it was now that she returned with a hare in her jaw. The thing was almost as big as she was, and her jaws were aching by the time she returned. Her gaze drifted nervously to the Medicine Cat - and she seemed to brighten considerably upon seeing Pineshade emerge. The excitement, however, was calmed by the worry that shaded it again, and she hurried over with the hare in her jaws and her tail-tip twitching. "Greetings," she mewed as she dropped the hare at his feet. "Eat. You need the strength to heal, right?" She felt...bad. Pineshade had been injured by the fox whereas she'd escaped with barely a graze, and that had been from her fall. The molly lowered her head as she looked up at him, took note of him favouring one side. Something akin to shame welled in her chest. She had barely fought the fox; she'd appeared while it was being scared off, and she couldn't even chase it off the territory right. "How are you feeling?" her voice was tentative as she asked, unsure of how he'd respond.

“Honestly I think it’s a stupid rule, leaders can have all the kits they want but not the medicine cat? You’re just lucky I don’t want kits.” Gracklefur said nonchalantly, he looked down at the kit again. “Please, I don’t need anymore grey whiskers.” Gracklefur watched at Frostedstar became more serious as she took on a more saddened face, “Wolfmane’s fine.” He only said, why Wolfmane did sustain the most injury, Gracklefur was confident there was nothing to worry about. “Don’t underestimate my skill.” He said with a flick of his tail.

Of course her father had to try and ruin things, and the young shecat rested her head back on her paws and didn't return her icy gaze to make contact with her father's. He always found a way to get under her skin, and sadden even the happiest of days if he didn't happen to be in the mood to enjoy things. But now she was a mother herself, and the mottled leader wasn't about to let him ruin things further. If necessary she would chase him from the den and kindly request he never came back, but the tom was her father. In the absence of her mother who died when she was young, she felt the need to maintain a relationship. He was the only family she had left.
"I just gave birth in the middle of a fox fight," she grumbled simply. Her gaze dancing from one kit to the other, "Forgive me if I'm not in top condition." Her father would expect her to be strong and fighting even in death at times, and it frustrated her that the tom simply couldnt be happy for her. The way he studied her newborns made her uncomfortable, as though he searched for the slightest inkling of something not quite being right. It made her tug the kits closer, lifting the silvery Dovekit up and tucking her carefully in the soft fur between her flank and stomach. Now her actions were somewhat more defensive than they had been, though the leader kept up kind facades. "I am leader, but I am allowed my own secrets from time to time, father. My kits are safe, surely that's all that matters?" Or perhaps that was a pipe dream that her father could ever find happiness in anything that wasn't innately powerful and strong.
"Its not your skill I underestimate, Gracklefur," she replied with a calm tone. "Its my mate's ability to be a mousebrain."

(Gtg, I have to go now so excuse my crap post) Gracklefur smirked at the exchanges between father and daughter, “I’m all done Frostedstar. Let me know if you need anything else.” He said not wanting to deal with any form of an argument between the two cats. He glanced once more at the kits before he left the den. Tallkit gave a high pitched yawn, her eyes remained shut still as she chewed on her mother’s fur.

Pineshade | Camp | Littlefoot (@aconite )Finding solace in the fact that the fox was gone, and nobody had died, Pineshade took his injuries with a grain of salt. Some cats had it worse than him, the tom still didn't know the extent to Frostedstar's injuries, and Wolfmane had a nasty wound on his shoulder. Therefore he chose not to dwell on things he couldn't change. He was fortunate to escape with only a gamey leg. The tom's tail drooped as he cast a forlorn glance to the leader's den. He'd fought as well as he could, but the fox had tossed him aside like a piece of meat and got to Frostedstar. They'd chased it off, but was it soon enough? Were the kits okay? Pineshade shook his head. They had looked healthy and strong, albeit premature. Gracklefur was also a talented medicine cat. Right now all they needed was space. A voice caught the white and orange tom's attention, bringing him back to the present. Littlefoot stood before him, with a hare dropped to his paws.
"Hey Littlefoot,"Pineshade responded, his gaze brightening at the sight of the pretty shecat. "I'm fine, really. You don't have to..." A pang of hunger gripped the warrior's stomach. He licked his lips, hazel flecked green eyes taking in the sight of fresh kill. Pineshade looked back to Littlefoot's face, studying her expression as she asked about his injury. Something was eating away at her, he could tell. Whether it be guilt or exhaustion from the fox fight, he decided that she deserved better. "Oh, don't worry about me. This-" He motioned to his leg with a flick of his tail, "Is my fault. I went after it, and I got bit because I was too slow. You scared off that fox when I couldn't. That move you got in, it didn't even see it coming!" Pineshade mused, referring to how Littlefoot had charged into battle when they needed it most. Yeah, she slipped when chasing it off. He'd made mistakes too. His leg was proof of that. The tom crouched next to the hare, nosing it towards Littlefoot in a welcoming gesture.
"Thank you, for caring. I really appreciate it."He dawned a goofy grin, his orange tail curling around his paws. "Would you join me?"

Pigeonsong Frostedstar's Den With Frostedstar [@velveteenwolf]
Secrets were hiding struggle or lives, hiding when there was a struggle - but not hiding kits. He twitched an ear nonchalantly and watched the queen's movement, an amused twitch coming to his whiskers. She doesn't trust me, he thought, I suppose she thinks the worst of me.
He wondered if it ever occurred to her that he cared, but doubted that he'd said it enough. What was he supposed to do? Pigeonsong had been a single father thrown into something that had both excited and terrified him - and when his mate had died, he'd found himself struggling. When no-one had helped, he'd had to harden himself further. It had protected him from harm, but at what cost? "The fox situation could have been prevented if others had known," he mewed quietly, "and your health matters just as much as your kits' do."
The tom shifted his gaze towards Gracklefur and he dipped his head in thanks. The Medicine Cat had come through for his family - that was something he deeply appreciated, though he knew that it was just the tom's job. LittlefootVerglasClan Camp With Pineshade [ Tekoa] Her gaze trailed to his leg and she made a little sound that could have been pity, and, after a moment, she let herself crouch next to the hair with her ears perked to attention. "You were very brave in your fighting," her tone was very soft, but filled with admiration. "I was tracking it, but--I didn't get to it before it found Clanmates." she let her gaze trail to Frostedstar's den, ears pinning against her skull. "And cats got hurt. It was already being scared off when I came in." Littlefoot took a deep breath to settle her nerves. Everyone lived, she told herself, so...it's okay, right? It's not like anyone died, and the injuries could've been worse. But her doubt remained thick, swirling inside her head and telling her that she had made a bad decision. What if her burst of confidence had ended badly, and she'd been snapped at? Her speed helped, but she wasn't strong. "Of course I'll join you," she laughed quietly, trying to shake off the shreds of fear that remained from the fox fight. It had been a few days, but she still felt nervous. She'd been checking the borders religiously, always returning to the spot the fox had left from. Its scent was stale, but she found her paranoia rising. "You should take the first bite."

Her gaze continued to be careful with her father, but her stance relaxed noticeably, whether it was simply because she was too tired to argue, or she had decided he meant no worry to her little worries, the queen sank back into the nest with a sigh. Her underbelly was scoured with scratches, as was her muzzle and back, all of which were beginning to carry the sickening smell of infection which was spreading throughout her slender frame. But the queens body continued to fight regardless, but it would be the death of her, taking her second life in the space of two days. It was just a waiting game until the infection reached her heart, and then she would be on her seventh life already. But in her eyes, it was worth it for it meant her kits were alive and well. She would have willingly given all her lives for the sake of her kits, and lived the rest of her life with this wretched pain if it kept them warm and safe. “I’m glad you approve, father,” to another it might have sounded cruel, but there was some genuine warmth behind how she spoke now. Their relationship might have been difficult, but he seemed to at least care for her newborns, and that gave her some trust in the tom cat towering over her. “Would you like to know there names?”

Pineshade | Camp | Littlefoot (@aconite )Pineshade listened quietly as Littlefoot spoke, his ears warming with embarrassment as she praised his fighting. Concern darkened his gaze as the little shecat degraded her part in the fight again. Littlefoot was a very talented tracker, if she couldn't catch up to the fox in time nobody would have. The tom's whiskers twitched as he contemplated a way to express that, but he came up short. Not the most eloquent cat, Pineshade didn't know how to reassure the warrior. "The fox was on a warpath," He responded thoughtfully, his eyes lingering in the direction of the Evergreen cliffside. "It was right on me before I scented it. " Pineshade's gaze grew distant as he remembered the previous day. "The fact you tracked it from afar is impressive, to say the least. It would've circled back and attacked again if you hadn't kept on its trail so quickly." The orange splashed tom settled on his side, brought back to the present by the alluring scent of the freshly caught hare. Littlefoot's response to his invitation brightened his expression considerably. "Thanks," Pineshade said, dipping his muzzle to the hares' flank. He looked back up at the shecat and blinked appreciatively before taking a bite. ![](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/10/bb/92/10bb920041069cfae4756f2bcfb68d1b--turkish-van-cats-models.jpg)

Pigeonsong Frostedstar's Den With Frostedstar [@velveteenwolf]
Pigeonsong's gaze drifted to the entrance of the den, and he considered calling Gracklefur upon noticing the scent. However - the smell had been here since he'd entered. He'd finish talking to her before he approached the tom, he decided. Surely he would've noticed if Pigeonsong was noticing? He wasn't sure, and he didn't want to doubt. He exhaled slowly and focused on the kits again, something akin to warmth settling in his gaze. "I would approve of any kits you offered to this Clan," he told her firmly. "I would love to know their names."
Seeming to realise that he could come off as intimidating, - what if the kits opened their eyes now? - he settled down next to her and tucked his paws under his body. He watched the kittens move and found himself reminiscing of the days where Frostedstar had been Frostedkit, and a low purr rumbled low in his throat. If there was one thing he knew for sure, it was that he loved his kin. LittlefootVerglasClan Camp With Pineshade [ Tekoa] For a moment, the molly was unsure of what to say. Her gaze focused on the hare and she narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. She was a little proud of her tracking, and aware that it made her a good hunter. "Thank you," she said. "I...do have a sharp nose, and the fox was stinking up the territory. I was tracking it because Slatewhisker mentioned it being in the territory," her head tilted and she looked a little guilty. "He told me to take someone with me, but I didn't. I ended up encountering some others, but when the smell of fox was too much--" She'd ended up leaving them behind. Some guilt welled up in her stomach but she pushed it aside - everyone was fine, now. That was what mattered. She lowered her head to take a bite from the fresh hare after Pineshade. She began to purr quietly as she chewed. "If you need anything, you can ask me," she told him. "I like keeping busy, and you need to rest."

(sorry for being poofy, had a busy evening. back now though!) Watching as the five kits formed a pile of fluff and squirming by her side, she leant down to nuzzle each kit with an amused purr. Motherhood was bizarre to her, and her pain only numbed her ability to think straight and care for the tiny bundles of fluff curled up beside her. "Tallkit," she said quietly, nudging the long legged kitten in an affectionate manner. "Sagekit," she turned her attention briefly to the tom kit, "Dovekit," she added, tickling the kitten carrying the same pelt as her father between the ears in an affectionate manner. Purring in amusement as the kit rolled over and battered at her muzzle in protest at the strange attention. Then looking down to the remaining pair, "But I decided not to take all the naming for myself," she explained. Knowing her mate would likely be annoyed had that been the case, "So these little ones don't have names just yet."

They practically had the tom kicking and screaming back into the medicine cats den. He did not want to leave Frostedstar, no matter what, those were his kits and that was his mate. Were they okay? Her wounds were worse than hers, he needed to be there for her she needed him, and he needed her. His clan-mates had corralled around him to lead him to the medicine cat's den, where it took them holding him down as they fed him herbs that were foul tasting, but made him sleepy. Once the tom was down, Gracklefur had begun to treating his wounds. They were pretty nasty... And a cat any weaker than him, the medicine cat might have worried, but there was a fire inside Wolfmane that would not let him die any time soon, his kits needed a father. When they were all treated up the medicine cat had noted that he had an infected, but healing wound on his side, and a nasty cut along his snout that would likely not heal correctly. The second that the sedatives wore off Wolfmane had blinked awake, his vision blurry. "Hn... Where..? Am I?" His head was pounding as the memories slowly began to seep back into his mind like water droplets. He was out with Frostedstar, then... she was in pain, then a fox... And... Wolfmane exploded out of his nest, the cobwebs that had been stuffed into his wounds falling out from the sudden movement. His eyes were as wide as moons, he still reeked of the scent of fox, and dried blood had matted his once fluffy dark silvery fur. "FROSTEDSTAR!" He yowled, and despite the screaming protest of his exhausted muscles, he raced to the leader's den. The medicine cat's apprentice had tried to call him back, but at that moment there was nothing but the blood pounding in his ears, and the thought of his mate. Wolfmane bowled himself into the leader's den with such panic one might have thought the entire forest was on fire. His body had nearly collided with Pigeonsong, but his scrambling claws stopped him just in time. He knew his father in law was a very... Stern, individual (if he was being nice) and the mere sight of him seemed to create a force field around him that Wolfmane knew not to break. Wolfmane kept his eyes on him for a half a second before whipping his attention to the newly made queen laying in the moss. "F-Frostedstar!" It was a sad sight to see the massive, normally intimidating tom trembling like this. He lowered his nose to his mate and nuzzled her cheek, he hadn't even noticed the kits yet, too intent on making sure his mate was okay. Without even knowing it his rump was in the elder's face as he fussed and worried over the leader. "Are you okay...? Oh dear StarClan he got you bad. Does it hurt? Show me where it hurts, I'll make it feel better."
Meanwhile, the newly named Sagekit had been the most quiet, the most still of his litter. He had not moved from his cuddled up position next to his mother's flank, breathing in her scent, nose wrinkling at the smell of her wounds, but comforted by the familial milk underneath. He knew nothing of the world yet, he knew only the smells, the sounds, and what his paws could touch. While his siblings scrabbled over one another, eager to explore this new world, Sagekit had remained silent, stayed still. Suddenly the feeling of the moss underneath him began to fade, not all at once, but rather it was like it was slowly evaporating. He stretched out his paws to try to see if he could touch his mother, but in this blind world he could not find her, his paws touched the air. That's when he realized the distant sounds of his mother's conversation had dripped away, and there was only the stirring of wind in his ears. The new-born tom was too young to associate this feeling with fear, his mind was like mold-able clay at this point, which years from now, would have proven to be his downfall... Sagekit floated there in the dark, listening to the whistling wind, and upon an inhale, tasted the scent of the forest. Strange, sharp smells he did not yet understand, the smells of thick pine, dead leaves. The familiar scent of his mother was nowhere, that was the first thing that begin to make the tom worry. "Child..." A deep, bellowing, booming voice shook the tom, it's voice seemed to get inside him and rattle his bones and resonate from within. Sagekit was frozen stiff, standing still, unable to tell where the voice was coming from as it seemed to attack him from all sides. "Do not... Be afraid... You are safe here..." The words were foreign to him, in truth the tom was too young to even puzzle what these words meant, but a sense of calm overtook him as the voice spoke. He felt like he was back at his mother's side again, safe, protected, and warm. "Child... Open your eyes..." Sagekit seemed to understand what these words meant, like the order the voice had ensued seemed to penetrate his mind more than just regular words. His eyelids began to twitch, unable to find the strength to open. If he was older he would have cried put I can't! It's too hard! But instead the tom began to cry out sadly. In the darkness he felt something warm encompass him, it did not feel like the fur of his mother, it felt like... Mist, warm, comforting. "You can do it... There is a strength inside you, child... This is why I chose you... Open your eyes..." Sagekit felt his heart shiver every time the thing spoke, in awe, their words seemed now like glue upon his mind. He tried again to open his eyes, straining his eyelids, and suddenly he felt them part. A large pair of light green eyes met the world for the first time. Everything was so blurry, they weren't yet coming into forms the small kit could even begin to understand. Suddenly a figure floated into his vision, their form was not one solid form, instead it was like a bunch of smoke all bound together in one blurry shape. What Sagekit first distinguished was it's wispy, sharp pair of yellow eyes. "My child... My oracle... We will meet again..." And as his pounding words entered him, it all suddenly vanished. The feeling of the earth under his paws again was present, he felt more heavy than he did before. Sagekit stretched open his eyes for the first time, rolling onto his back as he stared at the ceiling. He tried to look for the figure of smoke, but he was nowhere... However, the tom could still feel the warmth of it's embrace, and the calm that he had given him in his time of panic.

(wolfmane is too precious for this world and omsc poor sagekit! XD two days old and already dreaming of horrible things. and aww, I bet it was great fun!)
Frostedstar recognised the familiar thundering of paws before she as much as caught the scent of her beloved, a tired purr came from the slender leader. Leaning up on shaking paws to nuzzle her mate in greeting, the smell of infection seemed to seep from her frame, and the queen looked exhausted despite having spent the last three days drifting in and out of unconsciousness. Wounds scored their way through her smaller frame, and the way she moved was stiff and pained as she greeted her beloved mate. Burrying her nose into his fur, she took a moment to refamiliarise herself with the tom cat's scent, even for the briefest time she had been terrified that the tom had met with starclan before he had even been able to meet his kittens. The mottled leader, in spite of her pain and aching to the point where she feared her legs might have fallen off, her icy gaze shone with delight at the sight of him. Even beneath the smells of herbs and blood, he still smelled like Wolfmane, he still smelled like hers. "I'm glad to see you managed to not get yourself killed," she whispered quietly, brushing her nose through his fur, shaking where she stood but remaining upright all the same.
It seemed for a moment the young leader and new mother had forgotten that a-, she was a leader, b-, her father was present, and c-, she had five kits who mewled their hearts out if she as much as breathed too heavily whilst they were nursing. And they made their disgust in her heaving moved apparent with their soft mewling. Even those who had opened their eyes seemed scared at her sudden dissapearance, and the queen let out a low purr. "Come," she said quietly, gesturing with her freckled tail for him to come closer. "Meet your sons and daughters."
Lowering herself into a crouch, the queen brushed her nose through their fur and wrapped her tail around each of them and pulled them close to her side again. Though didn't lie down beside them just yet, as to allow their father to at least meet the newborn bundles of fluff. The pride was apparent in her gaze, she might not have looked in the best condition, the ecstasy in how she carried herself was unmissable. Twitching her ears down, when she noticed movement from the tiny Sagekit for the first time, her eyes brightened with delight on noting his opened eyes. She gently touched her nose to his forehead in greeting, "It seems this one is excited to meet you," her grin was lit with laughter.
