Wrenpaw »Wrenpaw was one of the first apprentices to wake up. Like always. He wasn't sure how he managed to do so, because most of the other apprentices were woken up by their mentors. He twitched her tail and sat up slowly, blinking the sleep out of his gaze before his eyes landed on Dawnpaw. The silvery blue tom seemed to still be asleep. Wrenpaw paused, hesitant to wake the other tom cat up before he got over himself and carefully nudged the long limb apprentice, a purr escaping the brown and white tabbys maw. "Hey, sleepy bunny, wake up. I have a few ideas we can do today." He whispered, not wanting to wake up any of the other apprentices, especially not Sunpaw. Sunpaw was the brother of their leader, and if he knew the plans Wrenpaw had, then they'd be out of luck and delayed in a warrior ceremony Wrenpaw spotted in the near future.
The tabby slowly got up to his paws, stretching himself out before looking at Dawnpaw. "I want to sneak out and go hunting by the Joshua Tree Grove." He breathed after a moment, his green eyes glittering with mischief as he waited impatiently for the silver-blue tom to get up and join him. He never seemed to want to be away from Dawnpaw- the two seemed to have a sort of bond that they didn't have with any of the other apprentices. It wasn't a simple brother bond, it was.... something a little more. And Wrenpaw loved it, if her were honest. He couldn't wait to fool around with Dawnpaw and risk getting caught.

Dawnpaw » There he was, standing face to face with a massive female mountain lion. The tawny creature was snarling at him, her fangs drawn back in pure hostility, but Dawnpaw didn't back off. He instead held his ground, staring the creature down as she hissed and growled at him. He had stumbled upon the predator on his way back to camp after a long hunt. He had successfully brought down a large road runner and even a hare. The mountain lion must have scented the blood that his catches had spilled and now here it was, facing off with him.
Dawnpaw puffed his fur out, causing himself to look larger than he really was. He hissed at the mountain lion, a warning for her to back off. She didn't, and after one more hiss, Dawnpaw decided it was time to make the attack.
He lurched forward with claws unsheathed, about to sink them into the larger feline's eyes when he heard a familiar voice in the back of his mind.
Dawnpaw tumbled out of his leap, rolling onto the ground. The mountain lion let out a growl of dark satisfaction and, just as it pounced on him, the pointed tomcat woke up with a jolt. His paws almost hit Wrenpaw upside the head in his reflex to defend himself from the dream-based predator.
Blue eyes, glazed over from sleep still, opened to spot the familiar form of Wrenpaw standing above him. There was a deep stirring in his chest and a smile on his face as he looked at one of his best friends in the Clan. "Wrenpaw!" He purred, getting up to his lanky paws. "What was that again?" He asked sheepishly, having not heard a single word from his friend due to his dream and being jolted back to the world of reality.

( Feathertalon sounds good! i’ll just write a few starters and i can hop in ig. btw i love how unique your names are aaa ) ... Wildfire ;;
Yawning, the warm-colored she-cat stretched deeply in her nest. Most nights she slept fairly decently, but the last couple have not been so. She was constantly having strange dreams and waking up randomly, which definitely did not please the active warrior. Not enough sleep cut down on her ability to be as productive as she’d like. She was the one to practically never miss the dawn patrol, but three days in a row she had slept through each one. Sighing, Wildfire sat up in her nest, squinting at the rising sun outside. It wasn’t sunhigh quite yet, thankfully, but it was obvious that she’d once again missed the dawn patrol. Maybe she needed to adjust her sleeping position tonight. She trudged over to the fresh-kill pile, selecting a bird and settling down to eat her breakfast.
Owlpaw ;;
Owlpaw’s tufted ear twitched at the sound of movement in the apprentices’ den, but didn’t react to it at first. As the rustling grew louder, she groaned and rolled over, her tail lashing out to hit any cat disturbing her slumber. Being the oldest apprentice also meant being the biggest. Even though she was small for her age, she still beat most of the apprentices in size. Her brother, Dustcloud, would often brag about how much roomier it was for cats their age in the warriors’ den, which annoyed her to no end. It was already frustrating that he was a warrior before her, and when he rubbed it in her face, it irritated her even more. Then she heard voices. It wasn’t that early for the apprentices to be awake, but after a long night, Owlpaw wanted to sleep undisturbed. She groaned again, eyes shut tightly but muttering, “Can you please be quiet? I’m trying to sleep.”

Firestar »Firestar carefully slipped out of his den after the long night seemed to end and the down light peered into the smalls cracks of his den. He shook the particles of sand and dust off himself and yawned. The air was relatively warm for the falling leaves season, but the small ginger tabby leader was rather grateful for the warmth. With the cold season being right around the corner, the warmth was his current best friend. I just hope this warmth doesn't dry up the oasis any more than it already has. Firestar thought reluctantly.
He carefully looked around before his eyes fell on the warrior named Wildfire. Firestar licked his chest fur down, blinked the last bits of sleep away from his eyes, before he trotted over to the other warrior of his clan. He stopped for a moment and purred in greeting. "Good morning, Wildfire. After you've eaten, do you think you could possibly take a patrol out for border checks and a small hunt after? You can probably take Corndust and Shadowdance with you, if you don't mind." The ginger tabby leader mewed before picking at the prey himself. "Who do you think I should also send out to lead a patrol? Sunfeather? Cactuspurr? Creekrush maybe? Cricketwing?" The tom mumbled. He knew having a deputy would help, but at the moment, Firestar was at a lost on who he could currently trust to have his back with leading, as it seemed about half the clan was against his leadership.
- { 𝓹𝓪𝓻𝓽𝓵𝔂 𝓬𝓵𝓸𝓾𝓭𝔂 } - { canyonclan camp } - { dawn } - Wrenpaw »Wrenpaw couldn't help but shy away when Owlpaw seemed to have woken up from his chatter. He looked over at the sickly molly before flattening his ears slightly. "Sorry, Owlpaw. We'll leave the den so you can rest some more." The brown and white tabby mewed before his attention turned back to Dawnpaw. Wrenpaw let a raspy purr escape his maw before he carefully nudged the larger tom - height wise - up to his paws, flicking his ears. He didn't want to bother any of the other apprentices, and he certainly wanted to slip out before Firestar and Charmstone came looking for the two of them, considering Dawnpaw was the leaders apprentice.
Taking in a small breath, he lowered his voice to a whisper, hoping to not annoy the she-cat that he had previously bugged with his nonsense. "I said I have a plan today. Come on, I'll tell you 'bout it outside. We just need to slip away before our mentors find us, or before your mentor finds us." He whispered softly, flicking his tail for Dawnpaw to follow him out of the apprentice den. Once he was out of the warm den, he shook his fur out and sighed, noticing the leader was already out of his den. Wrenpaw wasn't exactly surprised- a leader should be up before his clan. He was just hoping the ginger tom would be asleep a little longer. But as Firestar looked occupied, Wrenpaw figured the two could still probably sneak out without getting caught. "I wanted to go huntin' by the Joshua Tree Grove, Dawnpaw. But I wanted it to be just us, so we can catch somethin' an' bring it back in time for the last feast week that Firestar mentioned." He mewed, lowering his voice so only the silver-blue tom could hear once the two apprentices were together shoulder to shoulder again.

Wildfire ;;The ginger cat was nearly finished with her meal when she heard Firestar speak her name. She looked up, ears flicking as if she were shooing flies. Her misgivings for the flame-colored tom began to crawl up her spine, but she masked it with an obedient nod. Wildfire may not like her leader, but she didn’t feel the need to get on his bad side. Licking her lips, she responded, “Sure, Firestar. I’ll round the two up once I’m finished. As for who should lead the other patrol..” She paused, thinking. Creekrush.. honestly, she wouldn’t make a good leader. She gets distracted easily and very sheepish. The rest seemed like decent candidates. “How about Cactuspurr? She hasn’t led in awhile, I don’t think.” The warrior didn’t wait for Firestar’s reply, taking another bite of her meal.Owlpaw ;;The bi-colored she-cat sighed, muttering to whoever spoke to her that it was ok. She still kept her eyes shut, attempting to fall back asleep. She hated mornings; Owlpaw always woke up badly after not a great night’s sleep. Which, unfortunately, was quite often. Sometimes she wished she could go sleep somewhere else, away frol the rest of her Clan, and maybe she could finally get real rest. Her younger denmates didn’t to like sleep as much as she and would often stay up late chattering about their day or telling stories. Sometimes she didn’t mind, but that was rare. She prayed for the day she would be assessed and her warrior ceremony was set in stone. It was rather painful to watch her older brother, Dustcloud, become a warrior without her. Having been a sickly kit, Owlpaw was behind in her training and could not “level up”. She often doubted she would ever become a warrior at this point. Sorreltuft ;; Emerging from the warriors’ den, Sorreltuft was nearly blinded by the morning sun. He screwed his eyes up against it, hurrying over to the fresh-kill pile. He stretched his long legs for a good minute, yawning as he did. He greeted Firestar and Wildfire, who were already beside the pile of prey. He bent his neck to select a bird, then looked back up. Was Breezepaw up? He peered into the apprentices’ den, spotting her white fur among the other pelts. Feeling a little more relieved, he grabbed his selection and sat down to eat. If his apprentice wasn’t up when he was finished, he would try and wake her up. He planned to take her hunting to hone her skills, then maybe add on a battle training session.

Firestar »Firestar listened to the warrior carefully before he glanced at the warriors den. He twitched his whiskers before nodding slowly and standing up to his feet once more. "Ah, right. I'll ask Cactuspurr then. Maybe she can take Minnowberry and Saltstorm and Owlpaw with her." He mewed softly before licking his chest fur. He glanced at Wildfire once more before twitching his ears. He sighed. "Do you think I'm a terrible leader?" He asked, green eyes narrowing slightly. Sure, the she-cat might not completely admit it, but Firestar couldn't help but ask the question. Without a deputy to back him up, the ginger tabby tom felt rather weak and looked down on as a leader, even though he was always trying his hardest to prove he was a worthy leader. After all, Yodelstar hadn't picked him to success him for nothing, right? He twitched his tail and looked at Wildfire with a rather stern gaze, but it softened after a moment. "Sorry, I don't mean to intrude on your opinions whatsoever, Wildfire. It just seems like half the clan is either against me, or wants me to be leader." Firestar meowed, sitting down once again and curling his tail around his paws.

Dawnpaw » Despite still being a bit weary-minded from having just woke up, Dawnpaw noticed the fact that he and Wrenpaw had disturbed the oldest apprentice, Owlpaw. His large, bat-esque ears flattened ever so slightly against his head, blue eyes flashing with an apologetic light to them as he turned and murmured, "Sorry, Owlpaw." He said no more until he and his friend had left the apprentices' den. As he stepped outside he blinked a few times to adjust his eyes to the watery light of dawn before shaking his thin pelt out to rid it of any lingering moss. Once satisfied with his looks - not that Dawnpaw was a vain tom - he turned his attention back to Wrenpaw, a large and rather goofy looking smile crossing his angular features. "So what's this plan of yours?" He questioned, long, slender tail flicking back and forth in excitement.
As Dawnpaw waited for his friend's response, he noticed his mentor already up and about it, speaking with a fellow warrior - Wildfire. For a moment there pride welled up in Dawnpaw's chest, a purr coming from the young tom. He rather enjoyed being the leader's apprentice, found it to be an amazing honor. Despite what others thought he knew Firestar had it in him to become an amazing leader, perhaps even better than Yodelstar himself.
These thoughts were pushed to the side when he heard Wrenpaw speak up again. His ears and tail shot straight up, blue eyes wide with excitement. A trip with just him and Wrenpaw? Usually he would have said something about that not being a good idea, but since it was Wrenpaw... Yeah, Dawnpaw was a bit stupid when it came to the handsome tomcat.
"That sounds great!" He purred, excitement vibrating through his entire body. "Are we leaving now?"

He vaguely remembered needing to train his apprentice soon, but of course he would let the young cat rest for today. Not that Saltstorm himself wasn’t in need of rest. He’d been going without sleep for- what was it, three days now? He couldn’t remember. All he knew was that the nightmares that had plagued him recently were vastly bothersome, and he might need to go see the medicine cat soon for a rememdy. But, no, he couldn’t. He had a repuation as someone who could handle things- he couldn’t let a few silly nightmares be what brought him down.

Wildfire ;;
The long-furred cat nearly flattened her ears, suddenly feeling guilty. She had no right to judge Firestar; Wildfire was only a young cat compared to him. After many moons of listening to other cats gossip over the leader, she let them influence her own opinion. Wildfire has always been a prideful cat and she had ambitions to be leader, but she hasn’t even had her first apprentice yet. “I.. of course, Firestar. I think you do your best.” Wildfire was content with her answer; she felt like it was honest enough. The ginger warrior shook her head, telling Firestar it was fine that he asked and he shouldn’t doubt himself. Swiftly finishing her meal, the young cat stood and stretched, nodding to Firestar. “I’m gonna round up my patrol. See you later.” Wildfire waved her tail and went off to search for the two cats.

Firestar »Firestar dipped his head and watched the female warrior leave. His eyes fell on Saltstorm. The tom looked exhausted, and the small ginger tabby leader couldn't remember the last time he had seen the tom not working so hard to help with the clan. With a nod to himself, he turned and headed towards the jutting ledge above the elders den before he wiggled his rump and launched himself up onto the ledge. He turned around and stared out at the oasis the Canyonclan cats called camp. He shook out his fur before stepping to the edge and cleared his throat. He figured a majority of the cats were up, and this needed to be done sooner or later. I just hope the clan agrees with my final decision.
With a long, wavering breath, the leader held his head high and called out as soon as he gathered his confidence again. His voice was loud and clear, holding a leader like tone. "Let all cats old enough to eat their own prey, join together under the Cliff Overhang for a clan meeting!" He yowled, eyes blazing with a confidence that had grown over time. The one eared leader waited patiently for the cats of Canyonclan to join him, so he could do what he should have done two moons ago.
- { everyone, basically } - { canyonclan camp } - { dawn } - Wrenpaw »Wrenpaw nodded quickly, his green eyes glittering softly at the other tom apprentice. He placed his tail over Dawnpaw's shoulder before leading him over to the entrance of the camp. His whiskers twitched slightly and he looked behind his shoulder. His eyes almost widened when he noticed the ginger and white leader hop up onto the cliff overhang that he addressed the clan from. He tried to pick up his pace, hoping Firestar didn't catch the two before they could slip out. Sure, they probably should stay for the clan meeting, but then, Firestar might look for Dawnpaw after so they could train.
Wrenpaw looked at Dawnpaw. "Hope you don't mind skipping this meeting. This might be an easier chance to sneak out while Firestar is distracted with whatever he has to announce." He mewed softly before bounding towards the entrance, waving his tail behind him in a gesture so Dawnpaw knew to follow. He looked behind his shoulder, making sure they were clear once more, before slipping under the bushes and into the open territory. He sighed, feeling his entirety relax as soon as they were out of camp.
With his paws stretching before him, he straightened up, flicking his brown and white tabby tail behind him. Wrenpaw looked once more at Dawnpaw. "Alright, you're okay with Joshua Tree Grove? Or we could try something more risky with Cacti Territory." He meowed, rolling his eyes at the dumb names of the certain areas of their territory. "Or! We could find a possible new spot of our territory that we haven't explored quite yet!" Wrenpaw bounced on his paws, eyes glittering as he looked at the tom before him.

Saltstorm »Saltstorm looked up as Firestar called for a clan meeting, his white ears flicking with interest. He trotted closer to his leader, taking his usual place at the front near Timberfall and Sunpaw, blue eyes full of questions. Of course, these questions could wait. For now, he was concerned with what Firestar had to say.
Saltstorm couldn’t help but feel fond towards the ginger tom. He was young, but he was working hard to prove himself to be a good leader, and Saltstorm admired him for that. Briefly, Saltstorm looked towards the apprentices to see where his own had gone, before turning back to face the tom above him.
I bet he’s going to choose a deputy, Saltstorm thought to himself. It has been some time since he got his lives, and he hasn’t announced one yet. I bet he’ll choose Timberfall- he does seem to trust her quite a bit. Of course, Saltstorm would be honored to take on the position himself, as any cat would. To be asked to be deputy was an honor many cats would never received, and Saltstorm, for one, always treated the deputy as he would the leader - with respect, and admiration.

Owlpaw ;;
The bi-colored cat had nearly fallen back asleep when she heard Firestar’s beckoning call outside of the den. Owlpaw let out a sigh of defeat, realizing there was no way she would be able to rest this morning. She stirred in her nest, first rolling over slowly and purposefully, taking her sweet time getting out of bed. Owlpaw then rose and stretched, yawning quite dramatically as she did. The apprentice finally stood, strolling out of the den and blinking rapidly as the sun shone in her eyes
On top of the leader’s rock stood Firestar, his eyes shining with confidence that Owlpaw didn’t know he contained. She couldn’t help but stare at his missing ear; it always.. surprised her. Her eyes brightened at the sight of her brother, Dustcloud, so she hurried over to him and sat down. “What’s going on?” Owlpaw whispered to her brother, who told her that Firestar must be finally deciding the deputy.
Sorreltuft ;;
The tall tabby cat raised his head from his meal, ears pricked as he watched the ginger leader leap up to his place on the rock. Sorreltuft tilted his head, what was happening? He glanced at the bird he was eating, frowning slightly because he had to leave it, then hurried over to gather. As he mulled over why they were sitting here, it dawned on him; Firestar was finally choosing his deputy. Anxiety began building up in the tom; who would it be? He gazed around, amber eyes curious, trying to single out potential cats. Maybe Saltstorm? The cat was always busy and dutiful at his work, especially when it came to apprenticing Owlpaw. Sorreltuft looked back at his leader, wondering who he really would pick to be second in command.
Creekrush ;;
Creekrush has been grooming herself in the shade of a small bush when Firestar called a meeting. Her small head shot up, instantly realizing what this was about. She unraveled herself from her position and hurried over, worry bubbling in her chest. This meeting would decide the future of the Clan, which made Creekrush anxious. She knew it obviously would not be her; she wasn’t a very good warrior in the first place. She took a seat beside Sorreltuft, nodding timidly at the lanky tom. Her attention was constantly switching as she glanced at different cats, wondering who the lucky cat would be. Timberfall? Saltstorm? Wildfire, even? The options seemed endless to the dilute tortoiseshell; she admired many of the warriors in her clan.

Firestar »Firestar watched as his fellow clanmates gathered around, his eyes continuing to burn with a confidence that seemed to out weigh every other emotion possible. His gaze landed on the cats below as he flicked his tail and began, feeling the blood roaring in his ears. "Canyonclan has gone on long enough without a deputy. It is time I appoint one, and I am very positive of who I have chosen at this time in our lives." Firestar started, his voice loud and ringing throughout the hollow oasis. His eyes shifted to the water in the middle of their camp. His whiskers twitched. The drought was coming sooner or later, he could tell. He began feeling uneasy. He shook himself out and looked back at the cats that had gathered around him to listen.
With a long breath, Firestar continued. "I call upon our Ancestors to look down on us all, and hear in so that they may hear and approve of my choice of deputy." He looked at the sky, the pale blue light holding not one ounce of clouds around it. He purred and glanced back down at the cats. "Saltstorm will be Canyonclan's deputy." He hopped off of the cliff overhang and padded towards the white tom, dipping his head respectfully and pressing his nose to the tom cats forehead. "May our Ancestors guide your paws in your new position. And may you thrive when you become leader." He meowed before stepping back. He looked around. "This calls for a feast tonight!" He looked back at the newly appointed deputy, tail flicking. "Arrange hunting patrols for the day. We will feast in your honor tonight, Saltstorm." He meowed before taking a few steps back. Sunfeather had joined him, purring softly. "Wise choice, brother. Saltstorm is young, and he'll be a great deputy." She mewed, nudging Firestar. The flame colored tom leader purred and curled his tail over his paws. "Thank you, Sunfeather. I just hope the clan agrees." He mumbled, looking over the group.

Owlpaw ;;
Owlpaw couldn’t remember a time where CanyonClan had a deputy. She knew Firestar was their’s at some point, but she had been too young to remember now. Her eyes were round and curious, wondering who it would be. She glanced at her brother, Dustcloud, spotting the same anticipation in his eyes. She wondered if he had hopes to be the deputy. The she-cat felt a small flutter in her chest before realizing that he couldn’t - he was too young and never had an apprentice. Phew.
At Firestar’s decision, Owlpaw’s eyes grew wider. Saltstorm was to be the new deputy? Excitement bubbles up in her chest; the new deputy was her mentor! The bi-colored apprentice hopped up and immediately rushed towards Saltstorm, pride shining in her eyes. “Congratulations!” She purred, tail sticking straight up in the air. Dustcloud followed after his sister, giving a respectful nod to Saltstorm.

Saltstorm »Saltstorm froze, and then his jaw dropped. He was deputy. He, Saltstorm, was the deputy of Canyonclan. He purred with pride, ears warming as the cats came to congratulate him. At Firestar's direction, Saltstorm nodded determinedly.
"Will do, sir. Owlpaw, Sunfeather, would you lead one with Timberfall? I'll find a few other cats to go on another one, and then when you return I will lead one myself. Wouldn't want too many cats out of camp at once, right?" His joking purr rumbled through his chest, eyes alight with amusement.
Turning to his apprentice, he thanked her for her congratulations, pressing his nose to her forehead. He was grateful to have her as an apprentice - she was someone he got along with well, and she was always a good time to be around.

Sunfeather »The pale ginger tabby looked up and purred softly when Saltstorm put her on a hunting patrol. She nodded agreement. Sending out too many cats would leave the camp defenseless if it were to be attacked. She twitched her tail and dipped her head to the newly appointed deputy before turning her blue eyes towards Owlpaw. "Alright, lets go fetch Timberfall now and head out. We'll hunt close to Cacti Territory, since last time I was there, there was a load of mice burrowing around. Maybe a few rabbits." She mewed softly before turning and heading towards where the golden brown tabby had been seated beside the deputy before he had gotten up.
With a twitch of her whiskers, she dipped her head and purred happily. "Hello, my dear. Saltstorm put us on a patrol with Owlpaw." She mewed, leaning up to give Timberfall a swift lick on the cheek. "Like I said to Owlpaw, I was thinking we could hunt by Cacti Territory. Theres been an ongoing supply of mice. I scented a few rabbits there, too." Sunfeather's blue eyes seemed to glitter. She missed going on patrols with her mate when they were first apprenticed. She had always been stuck with Firestar, too, though. But she didn't mind really. Now she was a warrior and got the chance to hang out with her mate without her brother bugging her.
Turning her attention to both cats now, she flicked her tail. "Now, are we all ready to go? Have you both eaten? You can eat before we go, or wait until tonight when we feast. I'm just itching to get out of camp before Firestar starts complaining again about no cat liking him." She snorted softly, but her blue eyes glittered with amusement. She knew some warriors disliked her brother and were frowning upon Yodelstar choosing him as deputy and then leader only about three moons ago. She hated it, nonetheless. Firestar was her family, and she didn't approve of cats hating him due to him being a young leader. So, with a twitch of her whisker, Sunfeather waited patiently for the two to give her an answer on if they were ready to head out into Canyonclan territory yet or not.
