Mumblestream’s tail lashed nervously as she got closer to the queen’s belly. “Bite down on the stick,” she prompted, nudging it closer to her. Holding her breath, the queen took her paw and massaged Dawnwatcher’s side. She slowly applied more pressure, trying not to hurt the queen or the kits. With a few more nerve-racking seconds of this, the second kit came out successfully. It had taken longer than the first kit, but it was worth it. Mumblestream moved the she-kit closer to Dawnwatcher, then felt her belly once more. “There’s one more left,” she said with assurance.

Ears tight shut as she fought not to cry out at the medicine cat's touch, biting back the growl which initially threatened her lips when her pain was added by Mumblestream's touch. She grimaced and pushed with all her might, until at last with an all mighty wrench the second kit slithered into the moss between her hind legs. "Great StarClan," she panted with an attempt at humour. "That one is a fighter already it would seem," she tried to grin, but was already growing tired from the effort. Eyes half closed, unconsciousness beginning to threaten the queen. The lack of sleep from then night before, and blood loss taking its toll on the new mother.

Leechpelt watched the entire thing in silence, not wanting to interrupt such an important event. Once it was done, she sighed in relief, grateful to starclan that the kitting had not taken such a bad turn. She had not been much help except for the water and the twigs, but at least she's able to say she saw it out successfully. However, Leechpelt did not feel like she was suppose to be there in the first place, finding kitting very...personal. No matter, it was an experience, and it was always fun to see kits, newborn or not. Making sure that Dawnwatcher was able to reach the water-filed moss, the warrior turned towards Dawnwatcher. "Well, at least this kitting has been successful. I wish you well on your journey to the Moonpool," Leechpelt only curtly bowed to her and Cedarfur then turned towards Dawnwatcher. "Take care, I believe your kits will make great additions to the clan." With that, Leechpelt left the den to head over to the prey pile to get something to eat. It has been a long day, and all the excitement has left the she-cat hungry.

Mumblestream nodded to Leechpelt as she left. “Thank you for helping,” she said, probably too quiet for her to catch. She turned her attention back to the queen and returned the smile. “I’m glad they’ve all come strong and healthy so far.” She then lightly put a paw on Dawnwatcher once more. “The last one should feel easy, after the she-kit,” she mewed with a twitch of her whiskers. She licked the queen’s flank supportively. “Just push a little more for me. And Cedarfur,” she added with a glance to their leader.

The red-point Siamese gave a sigh as she lay on a rock against the ledge of the camp. Boredom struck once again for the she-cat. Dawnwatcher having her kits was only exciting for a little while as Dandelionsneeze found out with everyone preoccupied. Not wanting to be a bother to anyone, she kept to herself and stayed away from the main event. Now she was here. Resting her head on her paws, she found her eyes to flutter a bit. Any longer and I might just fall asleep right here! Normally she would protest to herself succumbing to nap. Now though? It didn't seem like a bit idea.

If the struggling queen had heard the words of her medicine cat, the exhausted warrior made no indication to give evidence to such. Her flanks continuing to flinch and heave, but without the mother's help its attempts were futile as she fought to remain awake long enough to deliver the final kit. Whimpering softly, the final kit slipped into the nest with a quiet mewl. But the mother didn't move to greet her newest kit like she had the others, slumping into the nest. Her eyes closed, and sweat matting her dark pelt to her slender frame as she began to fade from consciousness.

Laurelwing had come back from hunting, ate his own prey, and was sitting in the middle of camp. He didn’t want to intrude on Dawnwatcher kitting, but he didn’t have much else to do. You could feel the tense energy through the camp that kept cats up in the night. His ears pricked when he saw Dandelionsneeze lounging on a rock. He went to his paws with a long stretch, then padded over to his sister. “Don’t fall asleep up there,” he said with a twitch of his whiskers.

Mumblestream felt the fur bristle on her neck. She brought her ear to Dawnwatcher’s chest, then sighed in relief. “She’s just unconscious,” she said to Cedarfur. “Or asleep. Either way, it’s rest she needs. I’ll give her some water and stay with the kits until she wakes up.” She looked at the gray tom with a small frown. “When would you want to go to the Moonpool for your lives?” she asked quietly.

From the corner of her eye, Dandelionsneeze noticed something approach her. Now fully attentive, her ears perked up as she recognized her brother. "Laurelwing!" She squeaked as she abruptly sat up. The she-cat brushed a paw behind her ear sheepishly as she gave a scoff. "I was totally not about to fall asleep." Happy to see him however, she gave a wide grin. Dandelionsneeze leaped down from her rock and met up with her brother. She brushed his shoulder warmly in greeting. "Thank goodness you're here now. I'm bored out of my mind!" The she-cat then gave a giggle. "You must've been bored too seeing you came to see silly ol' me."

Laurelwing purred. “I’m sure you weren’t,” he said, brushing her shoulder in return. “I would have come to see you even if I wasn’t bored.” He swiped a paw over his ear casually, then diluted his head at her. “What do you want to do?” he asked. There were many things they could do out of camp, but whether they were smart to do at a time like this was another question.

"I know you would. I'm just messing with you." She snickered. Dandelionsneeze knew she could count on her brother to be by her side. She loved him dearly for that. Now the two were on a quest to conquer their boredom. The she-cat's blue eyes swept across the camp as she gave a thoughtful hum. What could they do? Dandelionsneeze knew for sure she didn't want to hang around camp any more. "Not be here, that's for sure!" She proclaimed. "I don't want a grumpy ol' warrior telling me not to do this or that. Let's just head out!" Happy with her decision, the red-point Siamese headed off without waiting for her sibling's response. She would have kept going, but upon slipping out of the camp she felt a tickle on her nose. The she-cat stopped where she was and gave a little sneeze.

Laurelwing shrugged and followed behind her. She was always much more adventurous than he was, so she would know what to do besides sit in camp. He caught up to her, but then stopped soon after she did. He was concerned for a moment, then purred when he heard the sneeze. “Where are we headed?” he asked as he came up to her side.
((i was gonna have him say excuse me cuz I thought it would be funny for him to be the only one to respond like that and the rest of the Clan is like ???? lol))

Dandelionsneeze gave a sniff and flattened her ears at her brother's purr. Her grumpy mood quickly dissipated as the topic of where they would go came up. "I was thinking the moorlands. Oooh, maybe we could even catch a rabbit while we're there! I haven't had one in ages!" She became excited at the prospect of a hunt and became animated once more. The she-cat was about to take off, but managed to restrain herself this time. "Well, we have time..." She drawled, slowing down a bit. "I don't want to head back any time soon."

Laurelwing laughed and nodded. “Since it’s newleaf, there’s going to be lots of young ones running around that have no idea how to hide,” he said jokingly. He was amused with her wanting to bolt ahead; he had to restrain himself from running straight there as well. He hadn’t hunted with just his sister in a while, and it made him happy to simply be at her side. “Hopefully the rabbits haven’t gone to sleep yet. Maybe we could chase them out of their dens!”

Cinderpaw gave a small frown of dismay, considering the fact that his mentor hadn't herded him out of camp for patrols or hunting yet. "I'm sure we have a busy day ahead of us," he half assured and half warned Rabbitpaw. He nodded along with her commentary on the weather, rather enjoying the small talk he could have with the other apprentice; it made life seem more manageable and calm, as to have time to small talk was less time in the battlefield or fighting diseases. Cinderpaw snorted a bit as he laughed, "As if we were to take a swim in the lake either way," he turned his nose up to indicate his dislike of swimming. "Hey," he exclaimed suddenly, his greenish eyes getting wide, "want to go see how much prey we can catch before our mentors notice we're gone?" Usually the tom wasn't this restless, but it was inevitable that a young cat like him would want to explore and sink his teeth into something.

Nightdew scrunched up her face in confusion and thought, "How could anyone forget about such a serene place?". It baffled her for a moment, but thinking about it longer she could see how Acorntumble would have the lake in the back of his mind. YewClan had plenty of little streams to drink from, had no real reason to travel so far down to the lake except to look for whatever prey might be lurking in the damp grasses, and most of her clan-mates were not skilled swimmers. She nodded in response to his inquiry, "I've been trying, but honestly I think I might just be a ground-cat," she chuckled. "You can't trick a mouse into being a fish," Nightdew said simply as she padded over to her clan-mate and sat down, looking back over towards the water. "What's brought you to the mysteriously forgotten lake today?" She asked in a slightly teasing voice.

Rabbitpaw laughed at his distaste for swimming. She had no clue if she even could swim, but it wouldn’t hurt to try, would it? ((it would)) When he asked about hunting, she glanced around her to check for their mentors, then grinned at Cinderpaw. “Sure!” she mewed. If they were going to run off without their mentors, they would at least make it productive. She flicked her tail excitedly behind her as she said, “I’ll even catch more than you!” The little apprentice dashed off toward the entrance without waiting for a word from Cinderpaw.

The tom-cat purred, closing his eyes for a moment in amusement, "No I wi-" his words were cut off as he felt Rabbitpaw's pelt brush past him creating a small gust of wind that took him by surprise. "Wait up!" he exclaimed, clumsily getting his footing and dashing after the other apprentice's cloud of dust. "I'm going to catch way more than Rabbitpaw!" He vowed to himself, his tail waving behind him with anticipation as they trotted out of camp. Cinderpaw slowed down once reaching firmer grounds outside of the entrance and dropped his tail lower to the ground, just enough to hover over the ground and not cause a stir. If there was anything he had retained from his hunting trips with his mentor it was to keep low to the ground and be completely aware of your surroundings and where you're placing your paws. One misstep and you can step on a dead branch that cracks under your weight and sends any prey within hunting distance running for the other side of the lake. Easier said than done sometimes, sure, but Cinderpaw was focused. "So do you want to break off? I was thinking of hunting near the moorlands," he inquired in a hushed voice.

Rabbitpaw laughed between huffs of air as she waited for him to catch up. Her tail whipped impatiently in the air, even though it only took him a moment to catch up. She looked up and over at him when he fell to her side. “Sure, we can do that,” she said, keeping her voice quieter as to not scare off prey. “I’ll go past that old thunderpath to where the pine trees start.” No monsters had crossed that path for seasons, so she was sure she’d be fine. She flicked her tail to the entrance. “We’ll meet back here, unless one of us gets caught first of course,” she said with a laugh.

The she-cat's ears perked up with interest. "You're right! That'll make it a whole lot easier for us to catch them." Dandelionsneeze pointed out. The prospect of a good run and hunt filled her with anticipation and excitement. "Those rascals are not sleeping under my watch!" She proclaimed. With that she quickened her pace. It wasn't too fast though, so it would be rather easy to catch up with.

Acorntumble tilted his head thoughtfully. "Understandable," he replied. "It's better to stick to your roots. Well in my case, probably not literal roots since I tend to trip on those a lot." The tom chuckled a bit as his own joke. He watched Nightdew sit herself down, and Acorntumble proceeded to sit down as well. His gaze furrowed at her teasing tone. He knew she was joking, but he couldn't help it. Not my fault I'm so preoccupied with everything else. He thought grumpily. Rather than dwelling on that thought, the tom took his attention to her question. What was he doing before? "Uhh, well I wasn't necessarily planning to come here..." he drawled, trying to recollect his past movements. "I think I was hunting before until I heard something... Yeah! That's it! I was hunting until a heard a noise and decided to investigate. And now we're here." He felt his chest swell up with pride for not completely forgetting everything. It wasn't that long ago that happened, and not too much was going on. He had to give himself some credit though.

A tinge of worry crept into Cinderpaw's mind at the thought of a monster rumbling across the pebbles and cold stone and crushing his new friend but he knew it was a very old thunderpath, it was almost as safe as crossing a stream, and that the chance of a monster rolling through there was slim to none; his worry quickly eased. "Ok! Let's meet back up near the ancient oak tree before sundown," he gave Rabbitpaw a brisk nod and with a flick of his tail a new look of determination streaked across his face as he darted away towards the moorlands, his body clumsily dragging along brambles and thistles in his coat as he squeezed past obstacles.
As the moorlands came into view, the tom slowed down to almost a prowl. In front of him was a large stretch of completely unprotected land, no trees or large shielding shrubs to stalk prey from, it was simply barren brown and yellow grass. Cinderpaw felt thankful that the grass was damp enough to not crunch underneath his paws as he stalked forward, ears trained on little noises and senses fully alert to the smell or pitter-patter of small life. "Maybe I should have hunted in the forest," Cinderpaw thought with regret, considering his lack of seasons of experience in hunting, this would be a bit of a challenge, but nonetheless he was up for it. He crept forward through the grass and once he felt he was in a well enough sheltered area of the moorlands he quietly nestled himself down, tail drawn close to his side and muzzle pointed upwards to catch the scent of any prey. It felt like ages had past since he first settled himself down and his hind legs were beginning to feel the discomfort of being sedentary when Cinderpaw smelled the warm, sweet and familiar aromas of a rabbit. "If I can smell them then they will be able to smell me soon too," he thought. Fortunately the wind was in his favor, blowing the rabbit's scent towards him and his own scent being unbeknownst to the little animal. "This is it!" He thought excitedly, elevating his body into a hunter's crouch and creeping slowly across the ground. A pair of fluffy brown ears poked up ahead of him momentarily then vanished, but that was just enough for the apprentice to get a solid idea on where the rabbit was. He let out a slow, steady breath and stalked forward about a fox-length then gathered up strength in his haunches and leaped through the grass with claws unsheathed and his battle face on. For a split second Cinderpaw thought he had lost it as one paw grasped onto hard dirt, but with the other he felt soft, plush fur squeeze under his claws and without a second thought the tom dug his claws in deeper and lunged in with his jaws, snapping the rabbit's neck with his powerful bite. With the adrenaline still hot and flowing in his body Cinderpaw let out a loud "I got it!" from behind the mound of fur and shook the rabbit around like it was a ball of moss. If he could have luck like this for the rest of the day he would surely beat Rabbitpaw.

She let out a small purr of amusement at the warrior's joke, and felt the energy of the conversation turn more lax and positive, at least from her end. Nightdew wasn't so use to this easy flowing and careless interaction, but she in a way found herself enjoying it for the time being. Though, the she-cat had more on her mind that she felt she needed to bring up at some point, "Well I'm sorry you lost your catch because you had to come investigate my failed attempt at a swim," she joked, "but I'm sure you'll have better luck. This season has been quite giving with the prey so far." She pondered the topic she had had on her mind since they sat down and figured she had better be upfront about it, "So Acorntumble," she began, draping her tail over her paws and straightening her posture as if she were about to give an important speech, "What do you think of Cedarstar and all this talk of a new deputy?" She questioned, giving him a steady and unreadable look.
