"Such a sad look for a soon-to-be new mother." The warm purr came from Beechshadow, clambering up to join her daughter. With her failing sight and muscles, it was a miracle in itself that the old she-cat had made it up there, but as weak as she grew physically, she refused to keep her from the things she loved, and most certainly not one of her daughters!...though she did wonder how she was going to get down. She padded over to sit beside Stormstar, fixing her with a cloudy blue gaze of pride. "Your kits will be beautiful, and they will become fine warriors." She assured her, rasping her tongue over her ear.

Brought from her world of thoughts by her mother’s voice, the very pregnant leader lifted herself to her paws to come to the aid of the elder, rolling her eyes at her mothers persistence. The queen aided the older cat in finding a comfortable place to settle, before resting down beside her mother herself. Returning her gaze to the camp below, for a heartbeat she said nothing. Simply pressing close to Beechshadow’s pelt and enjoying the shared warmth in spite of the bitter breeze. “Do you blame me?” Her purr was playful, but her eyes gave her away. “After having such an amazing mother, how can i possibly be as good as you?” She touched her nose to her mother’s shoulder in a fond manner.

Rainpaw is welcome to be Maplepaws sister, and Hollowlight is welcome to be Nightshrieks brother Nightshriek - Hawthornclan - @velveteenwolf monarch Nightshriek's confidence soon disappeared, and nervousness welled up in him yet again. It was quiet, and while awkwardness is extremely subjective, he felt it immensely. Were they okay with not talking? Should he try and start a conversation? Every cat was different when it came to talking on patrols. What if they felt awkward too? Starclan was he a poor choice to lead any patrol! Nightshriek wasn't a leader, he was a follower. His lungs demanded he take a deep breath of air, as his heart pounded and his normal breathing wasn't getting the job done. He walked forward at a decent pace, not too slow but not too fast, and he silently took a deep breath, reminding himself he was doing just fine. His mind was just overthinking things. He decided that if they wanted to start a conversation, they could. They knew he was a jumpy cat, maybe they'd realize that he wasn't going to start a conversation and do whatever they'd like. That thought comforted him a little. Maplepaw - Hawthornclan - @nettles The tortoiseshell apprentice flattened her ears in panic and surprise. Mouse-dung! She'd been caught. If she'd remembered to hide her scent before, she would have gotten away with it! She had to quickly figure out what she was going to tell her mentor. Dawnleap wasn't mouse-brained, she'd be able to smell the beach on her pelt. 'Think, Maplepaw, think!' If she acted guilty, it would prove she had done something wrong. Maybe if she acted confident enough, Dawnleap wouldn't punish her? "Oh, hi, Dawnleap." She meowed, standing up straight with her tail held high. "I'm not doing much. I went off to... practice... memorizing the territory. Yeah. There are some spots I'm still foggy on. A good warrior knows their territory like the back of their paw, yes?" She questioned, hoping she sounded confident enough to trick her. Probably not, she wasn't a very good liar since she hated liars herself. But it was mouse-brained that Maplepaw couldn't explore her own territory by herself! She wasn't a kit, she could defend herself. Plus, nothing had happened anyways. What was the big deal?

Beechshadow gazed down at the Clan, pride at the recovery clearly showing. "You're going to be a great mother because I was." She replied with a purr. "I know the kind of she-cat I raised. I couldn't be more proud." She replied. Though her words were strong, her mew wavered, and it was clear how weak the old tabby was these days. She was already an elder when the war began, but she had bravely fought alongside her clanmates like any warrior or apprentice. The toll on her was clear - she had far more scars than any elder should, to say nothing of the medical issues that came with age. "This is the Clan I was born into, not the one I knew as a warrior." She meowed with certainty. "Of that much, I'm sure. You have returned this Clan to the way it was always meant to be. And I'm sure it'll continue well beyond my badgery old days." She added with a hint of humor in her meow.

Dawnleap-plagυe docтorNobody had ever accused Dawnleap of being the sharpest fang in the jaw, and she looked Maplepaw up and down as the younger she-cat gave her excuse. Her whiskers twitched as she tilted her head, thinking it over, then nodded. "Well, I guess that makes sense. But you should tell me before you leave camp. I don't want you getting hurt out there, all alone with nobody knowing where you are, you know?" Dawnleap smiled. She'd rather trust her apprentice. Even if Maplepaw was lying, at the very least she might understand why Dawnleap would be worried. "We'll be battle training today. You can take this to the fresh-kill pile, then meet me back here." She nodded to the mouse she had caught.

The chuckle which slipped from her lips was rather devoid of humour, her gaze now fixed on the smoke grey and orange of her long paws. “The clan is hardly the one I knew as a warrior,” Stormstar had survived two wars, she only prayed her kits wouldn’t have to see a third. Life seemed peaceful, but she knew all too well it never lasted. She bore the scars of an ancient warrior, not a young leader and certainly not the ideal picture of a mother to be. She pushed her face into the warmth of her mothers fur, wishing she could be a kit curled a her mothers belly again, and not the cat she was today. “I hope my legacy at least outlasts me,” she admitted with a sigh, returning her head to her paws. Shifting her haunches from side to side in an attempt to reveal the pressure from her swollen flanks. “HawthornClan has fought tooth and nail for this life, peace is the least they deserve.” The young leader had never placed the victory as a triumph of her own, it had been earned by every cat alive, and won in thanks of all who had fallen for it.

For a while, Greywillow had travelled in a comfortable silence. He had always basked in peace and quiet, and thought little of how awkward or uncomfortable it might have been regarded as by others. His long tail twitching as they made the short journey from camp to the border of the shadow woods, he paused. Tasting the air with great taste, nostrils flaring and tail active as he searched for the slightest sign that something might have been wrong. Looking to the patrol leader wth an attempt at a reassuring grin on his dark face. “Smell anything?”

I would say yes but it looks like she's not in trouble anyways haha She can join them for battle training if you'd like though?
Maplepaw - Hawthornclan - @nettles Maplepaw nodded. It looks like she'd gotten away with it after all! With a small purr of satisfaction, she gave Dawnleap a respectful nod. "Yes, Dawnleap." She meowed. Though she would definitely go exploring on her own again. It was fun! She would just have to be more careful next time. She grabbed Dawnleap's catch and brought to the camp's fresh-kill pile. It looked tasty, and suddenly she looked forward to coming back from battle training. Licking her lips, she headed back for Dawnleap, confidence lacing her stride. After getting away with breaking a rule, it filled her with pride. "Ready when you are!" She meowed enthusiastically, he tail waving. Although battle training wasn't her favorite, she was in a remarkably good mood now. Hopefully that would reflect in her fighting moves, and she could impress her mentor. Today was turning to out to be a great day! Nightshriek - Hawthornclan - @velveteenwolf Pausing as Greywillow spoke, he scented the air very carefully. He didn't want to mess up and make a fool of himself. He gave himself a few extra moments to really be sure before he answered. "Stale fox. A few days. Maybe it just passed by, but we should be careful." He finally announced, hoping they had scented it too. He didn't want to look like a mouse-brain in front of his den mates. That would really make the rest of the patrol awkward. Waving his tail for them to continue onward, his thoughts began to race less as he focused on the scents around him. Now that there was a hint of danger involved, even if anything bad happening was extremely unlikely, he was able to concentrate more. This became apparent in his body language; His tail no longer flicked nervously, nor was he breathing as heavily. Getting his mind off of focusing on not messing up helped him become more confident.

Greywillow’s agreement was conveyed in a simple nod of his large head, his own senses had told him as such but the older tom had attempted to put Nightshriek somewhat at ease, he could practically feel the dark furred warrior’s panic coming from him in waves. Which would make the patrol easier for none of them if their leader was jumping at every shadow and ew scent. Casting his gaze across the scarred trees which marked the border of the territory, trying to ignore the memories he had of this terrible place, but they seemed embedded into his head and buried into his veins. Shaking himself, he looked back to the patrol. “Should we continue checking, or go for a hunt?” He questioned Nightshriek.

"If I don't believe that at this old age, I never will..." Beechshadow murmured with a soft purr. "Sometimes, I wonder if things could have been different...if I was a day, or even a moon earlier...but I was a pregnant queen, and ashamed as I am to say it, I was afraid. But we must all look forward. Now, we really must get down." She purred in amusement. "Cinderdove will have a fit if she finds her very pregnant sister and not so young mother up here on our own." It was clear that even in age, she still had some humor in her.

(Sure!) As Maplepaw made her way over to Dawnleap, Rainpaw padded over as well. "Dawnleap, (Rainpaw's mentor) told me to spend the morning training with you and Rainpaw." The pretty gray and white she-cat meowed, giving her sister a friendly nudge. Maplepaw was the only one who could really get Rainpaw out of her shell, and for that, the she-cat was grateful. She then turned to look up at the warrior inquisitively. "Where will we be going today?" She asked curiously.

Watching her mother with a fond twinkle in her amber eyes, whilst the pair had always been close she hadn’t fully understood her mother until she herself had fallen pregnant, after which her respect for the elder had only doubled. The idea of bearing kits to live a lie of war terrified Stormstar, but giving birth into what was an already established war zone was something she couldn’t imagine. Wrapping her tail around her stomach, a soft purr leaving her as she felt kicking once again. She pressed close to her mother with half a smile, “This clan wouldn’t be here, none of us would be had it not been for your bravery against...” she could barely bring herself to say his name, let alone refer to him as a father. “Bleakfang,” the word was like poison on her tongue. “The clan owes you everything, and I wont hear a word claiming otherwise,” she said firmly.
But she lifted herself onto careful paws on her mother’s final comment, grinning slightly it took a moment for the rounded warrior to find balance but she did so soon enough. “Cinderdove would have a fit if I lived in the nursery for the next 6 moons,” she replied grinning. “I’m pregnant, not inept.” She said with a sly grin, but looked to her mother with a concerned glance. “Do you want help?” She offered, not wishing to diminish her mothers dignity.

Tempestbane was laying down in camp, his tail curled around to lay on his nose. He purred happily, comfortable currently. The sun felt warm on his pelt and he dozed lightly. He started to wake up a bit and stretched, rolling over onto his back in the process. He shifted to get comfortable after a bit and purred in delight, the warmth on his belly comforting. He began to doze again after a bit.

"Though I'm probably going to have to keep my climbing to a minimum in the coming moons." She meowed with a chuckle, blurry eyes fixing upon the stones in front of her. Although most of the clan was well aware of her failing eyes, what most didn't know was that her muscles were also deteriorating. Cinderdove had mentioned that she didn't know how much longer the Elder would even be able to walk, so for as long as she was able to, she would. She began the descent back to the rest of the camp, well aware of how weary her paws were. "Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere until I meet your kits." She purred lightly.

The expectant queen knew none of this, her sister had chosen to keep much of it from the expectant shecat to try and minimise the stress which was already building up on Stormstar’s slender shoulders. The leader kept close to her mother’s flank, careful to guide her to safety with little thought of any personal risk, as tended to be her reckless nature. Her stomach swaying as she moved, but her eyes narrowed with concentration. “You’d best not,” she answered firmly once they were back to the proper ledge of the camp. “Ii’ll be run off my paws by these little ones no doubt, these little ones will need someone to amaze them with stories.” She replied, pressing close to her mother again, leading her to a sunny spot where they could continue on safer ground. “I couldnt imagine raising my kits without you at least their to meet them,” she added quietly. Fear lighting her tone.

Buzzardcall’s meal had been finished in peace and in triumph after his minor disagreement with Rainrunner, and soon sat lapping the blood and remnants of blood on his muzzle to clean himself, but he knew that he wouldn’t be allowed to enjoy his peace for all that much longer. Lifting himself to his paws, he looked around camp with a bored expression on his handsome expression, until his gaze landed on the form of Tempestbane, and the tom promptly approached his clanmate with a twitch of his tail. “Fancy a hunt?” He asked.

"StarClan knows I have a lot of stories at my age." Beechshadow sighed, relaxing in the sunlight. As the she-cat lay there, it was clear to see exactly how frail she'd become. All her muscles had shrunk, and the she-cat looked as small as an apprentice now. Yet although they were misted, her eyes shone brightly. She curled her tail to touch Stormstar's. "Thank you for spending some time with me." She purred in affection. "I know you're busy, both as a queen and as a leader. "Gingersplash and Cinderdove, too. You're all far too good for an old frog who can't even see where she's putting her paws." She purred lightly.

(I really want her to have the kits now XD)
“I would be a rubbish daughter if I couldnt find the time of day to enjoy the company of my mother,” Stormstar reasoned with a grin. Her gaze returning to its rounds of camp when she heard a sudden noise that made her flinch, but she soon settled again beside her mother. “And Cinderdove has turned into quite the bossy leader since the day I hit a moon from the kitting, I’m barely allowed out of camp ten steps without being dragged back by the scruff and told to rest,” she said with an annoyed but affectionate purr. “I’m lucky to have the family I do, StarClan knows what I’d do if I didnt.”

The mischievous grin he was known for lit his expression as he replied with a toying, “Nah, I’m talking to the cliff ridge behind you,” he said with a chuckle, resting down beside the tom cat for a moment when he felt a burr between his claws which he promptly pulled from its place. “You appear to be the only one up, and your closest,” he said with a twitch of his ears. He didnt mind whom he was with as long as he had the chance to get out of camp before Duskfrost told him off for laziness. “Do you want to come or not? Because boulders might not be a great hunting companion.”

"Well, I'm sure she's just worried." Beechshadow purred indulgently. "If she wasn't doing it, I'm sure Gingersplash or (Stormstar's mate) would. Don't worry, it looks like the kits are due any time now. You'll be back to leading the clan before you know it!" It was rare to see such optimism in the queen in recent moons, especially with all the battles. Now that they were finally at peace, the elder could finally relax. It was quite a sad state of events when even an elder couldn't enjoy the rest they deserved, and now that they were finally at peace, Beechshadow could afford to be light and humorous again.

TempestStorm stammered a bit more before nodding quickly. "Y-Yeah. I would love to go hunting with you. Though I can't guarantee I'll be very much help." He shifted his paws embarrassingly as he looked down. "I've never found myself to be the best hunter... or fighter... or anything really." He cleared his throat and stood up. "Anyways! Lets get going. Sooner we leave the more we can catch."

(grr, I dont know is the issue XD)
“I think the entire clan believe queenhood has rendered me entirely inept,” was her grumbling answer. Though the twitch of her whiskers gave away the lack of any true frustration to what had been said. Shaking her head in amusement, she touched her nose into the warmth of her rounded side. A purr rumbling from her as the kits began squirming and kicking, eyes brightening a shade with affection before returning her attention to her own mother. “I hope so, I dont think I can get too much larger before I simply explode,” she answered with a chuckle. “How in the name of StarClan do cats do this?” She questioned, again lifting herself to her paws to try and sit more comfortably, a task which had gone more difficult with every passing day.
“You’ll be fine,” the tom reassured with a surprisingly bright smile, as he turned from the tom and began to lead the way from camp at a steady trot, ears perked forward and tail active with excitement of the prospect of getting out of camp. Before they made their way up the ridge paths, however, he turned back with a questioning look in his eyes. “Do you think Hawthorn Valley will be an alright place to hunt?” He asked, though he was confident it would be fine, he didnt want the journey to be made in silence.

Tempestbane followed him from camp, trying his hardest to calm down. He almost walked into Buzzardcall when the tom stopped though and he got embarrassed. "Uh... yeah. I think Hawthorn Meadow would be fine. Around this time of day prey have a habit of going there since some new growth has been coming up."
