Of course... Spiderleg is not the greatest father, but he's not as bad as everyone says he is. It's not like he abuses his kits; he just simply feels awkward around him. I don't believe that what he did was right, for knocking Daisy and then leaving her and the kits, but I wouldn't call him an awful character because of it.
Besides, Spiderleg said this to Leafpool:
It sounds like Spiderleg deals with a lot of pressure because of the Clan. It's a similar situation when Dovewing was pressured to becoming mates with Bumblestripe - and now the Clan is pressuring Spiderleg to be a better mate for Daisy. Besides, there are worse parents out there, like Lizardstripe and Rainflower.
Spiderleg is just stressed from the peer pressure he's received from the Clan and he feels like he is not good enough for his children.
Spiderleg isn't a monster, and I think people should cut him some slack. It was wrong of him to leave Daisy, and she does have every right to be furious with him, but he's not as terrible as people say he is.

I agree. Spiderleg isn't really a bad cat and he did attempt to be close to his kits after Leafpool called him out on his behavior. Interestingly enough, it's actually been confirmed that he really did love Daisy even long after they broke up.

IDK. Spider legs are pretty creepy and most people with arachnophobia are more afraid of the spider legs and how they move.
Also he yelled at my child Hollyleaf.

He's not the nicest cat personality wise either- he's worse than his father- and that's what puts me off of him.
I didn't remember him saying he feels pressured by the clan so that was a nice bit of insight.

I feel like people keep forgetting that neglect is a form of abuse, whether they meant to do it or not. But I do agree, that Spiderleg isn't all that bad, he did try to make up for his absence unlike some other fathers in the series. But I still think Daisy deserves better, better than Spiderleg, better than Cloudtail, and better than Smoky.

I don't give a pansy leaf about him. I think even the Erins forgot about him. It's presumed he was killed off sometime between BS and TAQ because he doesn't appear in the latter, but they forgot to explain what happened to him. |

I agree because just because you get "divorced" doesn't mean that you were horrible. it just means that you weren't happy with your mate and your kits reminded him of her.

People don't like him because they think he's a terrible father to his kits. Although I will agree that it was wrong to knock Daisy and then leave her, but he's not that bad. |

He wasn't a great cat but he wasn't horrible either. Wasn't he the only one in his litter? I haven't read TNP or POT in a while so I can't remember. He probably never had any experience being with other kits

After all, she did completely forget about him, so it would make sense that she forgot about their "relationship". |

He probably never had any experience being with other kits He was born with Shrewpaw. But perhaps there is something to him not having much experience with kits. His other most of his other litter mates died when they were still young. His mother was distraught for quite some time after the death of Hollykit and Larchkit and Shrewpaw. That may have detered him from being in the nursery... That and the fact that the Clan was starving for half of his apprenticeship so he probably put most of his energy into hunting. |
