Mudkit bit his lip and looked around the woods once more, it now seemed more sinister the longer they stayed.

Darkkit gave a short nod but he moved forward, ignoring his brother as his paws left little holes in the snow. Everything was so big and amazing, it was like a whole new world from their safe little camp. It felt like he was free! He wasn't chained to the camp in this moment, being scolded for wanting to see the world!

Darkkit looked at his brother and gave him a bored look "come on, a little bit longer. I took only five steps!" He planted himself down and breathed in the new scents. Firepaw nodded before he kept trying to figure out the scents "that's the only one that I can really recognize..everything else feels new.."he said as his ears fell against his head in embarrassment. Shadeclaw ignored her stumble until she apologized. He nudged her with his paw and stared at her "dont apologize, it's not a reason to feel sorry." The tom sat down when he found a good spot to begin speaking with her. ( here  ) |

Skyrunner flicked his tail at Firepaw's ears before finding a good place where they could practice. "Let's see if you pick out the scent of a mouse which is common around here. It has a dry type of smell if you try to imagine." He took in a deep breathe to let the area fade until he pin pointed a mouse nearby. Hazepaw felt her ears burn with embarrassment by already making a fool of herself. It felt interesting that Shadeclaw didn't snap at her yet which is what a lot of cats made her think about. She watched him and stayed standing in case she had to do something. |

Firepaw grew focused and he closed his eyes, trying to remember what a mouse smelled like from the times he had shared one with his parents. He took in deep breaths with his mouth open. He caught a familiar scent, it was faint to him and he wasn't certain that it was a mouse but there was no harm in at least trying to guess it. He opened his eyes and looked up at Skyrunner "I think I smell it!" he said in excitement.
Shadeclaw looked over the she-cat, she was small so perhaps she could be fast. He took her parents into consideration. Frostheart wasn't much of a fighter but both parents were fine hunters. He nodded before he stared at her "today we're going to focus on learning the territory. Tomorrow is when the real training starts." He made sure she was listening before he began telling her the schedule he had planned. "We're going to wake up early and work on learning the territory and all the scents of Lightningclan. Throughout the day we will be racing and hunting and going over the warrior code. As soon as you can keep up with me we can work on battle training." He said, stopping to make sure she understood the plan.

"Can you point where you can smell it at? It doesn't have to be the exact location, but the general area would tell me if you found it." Approval flashed in his pale eyes before watching closely at his apprentice. It felt great to have a young cat to train after what happened to his past one... Skyrunner is sure Foxstar wants him to feel comfortable again.
Hazepaw listened carefully as her eyes widen by the busy schedule he had made for them every day. "Will we be doing this until bed time?" She asked worriedly. "I don't want to miss any meals with my clan mates..." She shuffled her paws anxiously and looked at the cold ground.

Firepaw turned his ears towards the direction that he scented what was hopefully the mouse. He was determined to prove that he was going to be a worthy apprentice for the tom. He gave a hopeful glance to Skyrunner before he took one last breathe in before he nodded "that way!" He said, his eyes lighting up with certainty this time.
Shadeclaw gave a small chuckle, while she was worried about this, her mother was weak this was to be expected. Her father wasn't much better, but he was going to make her into a fine warrior. He shook his head and flicked his tail "you'll have time to eat with your siblings. We'll come back a few times to give you a small break before heading out again. I won't overwork your muscles too much." he said kindly. He knew how to handle apprentices, even if he hated being nice.

(Ugh sorry for not being very active today! I had to finish all the homework I put off yesterday and then had a little party for Three Kings Day. I’m not really sure if I’ll stay on long because tomorrow is sadly Monday :’( But I did just want to pop in and say hi!! :’))

Firepaw gave a small nod as he lowered himself to the ground and began sniffing around, trying to find the scents. This would end up taking much longer he could already tell. He remained focused though, after a long while he managed to actually see a crow, though he definitely didn't recognize the smell. The squirrel was making him frustrated, he felt like he would never find the scent!
Shadeclaw gave a nod as he stood up and began walking "yes, it'll tire you out the first few days because I plan on showing you all of it until you know it by heart. If there's ever an emergency you should know it." he said as he headed towards the Sunclan border.
