Lilystep had been on edge a bit lately, she had let Applethorn get to her more than she had wanted. His words had just dislodged the stone from her dam and all of the memories had flooded forwards and she was now struggling to put them back, one stone at a time. She was furious with herself, she had spent a lifetime building up these barriers and some random tom had been able to send them toppling down so quickly, something that she refused to let happen again, she would just have to build them up stronger than before. She was staring absentmindedly at her paws as they sheathed and unsheathed, her claws sinking into the snow beneath them, scratching at the surface of the frozen ground.

Lilystep was completely oblivious to the other tom's approach until his tail wrapped around her, her fur prickled underneath his touch, snapping herself out of her trance. She was not in the right mindset for a clever quip in return, merely giving him a blank glance before turning back to her paws. She couldn't get her past out of her mind, and Applethorn's presence wasn't helping. She seemed passive on the outside, but her mind was a battlefield, Lilystep straining to force the past back where it belonged, in the darkest corners of her mind.

Applethorn | Lightningclan Camp | MadFaith's Lilystep Something about the look she gave him made him back off. He took his tail away from her. Lilystep was never unprepared for their little game. Something must be very wrong. Applethorn didn't like this empathetic side of himself, and he blamed his apprentice for bringing it out. Stupid kit was growing on him. He shook his pelt and then looked at her, "Lilystep? You okay?" |
