Though the teasing was light-hearted, the dark-furred tom still felt a paw come up and playfully swat at the younger warrior. Iceflame was too quick, however, and ducked just in time to avoid the swipe, much to Darkclaw's surprise. Instead, he let out a low chuckle and shook his head, eyes still glittering like sunshine on water. "Well, the border seems to be undisturbed," he finally mewed, having realized there was nothing but RavineClan scent makers in the areas they passed. "Lucky for us."

Cinderlight sat in front of the nursery entrance, eating a mouse her mate had caught earlier. Her belly splayed out beside her; she was only about one moon along, so it wasn’t too big just yet. But she could feel tiny paws kicking around already, and it made her excited every time. She glanced around the clearing, looking for anyone who wanted company.
Ratwhisker sat on a low, twisted branch of the Broken Oak. His ears were worked, listening for birds, and the rest of the forest was silent. He enjoyed hunting alone, as he had a hard time asking others if they wanted to go with him. This was much easier. Plus, the quiet was soothing to him.

Falconwing trotted back into camp, a freshly caught chipmunk in his jaws as he spotted his beautiful mate in the clearing. Picking up his pace he went to meet her and set the chipmunk down in front of her, frowning when he saw she hadn’t even finished the mouse he had caught for her earlier. “I brought you another,” he said, pushing the catch closer to the mouse she was currently trying to finish. “You need to be eating extra now, for the kite. How are you feeling?” The Tom asked, not waiting for her to answer as he moved to her belly and put his head close to her swollen stomach, as if trying to hear the kits inside her womb. “Are the kits doing alright?” He asked. Falconwing was both excited and terrified to be a father, and had been either following Cinderlight like a shadow or been out hunting to provide his mate with enough prey to feed the whole clan. He wanted to be the perfect mate and father, he just wasn’t quite sure how to do it.

Weaseltail swiveld around, barely withholding a low growl. "Wrong! I taught you this not even a few days ago," he spat angrily. He then dropped a few roots and leaves in front of his apprentice. "We use Burdock Roots to prevent infection and then a polutice of Horsetail, Goldenrod and Marigold on large wounds. Now tell me which one of these is which." Hailpaw immediately shrank into himself. Shadowfoot was mad. He wasn't even late, judging by the sun - just on time, but not really late. He stared at the ground intently, not wanting to meet his mentors gaze and mumbled an incomprehensible answer. Ripplepaw winced and flattened his ears in shame as his mentor scolded him. He had gotten the answer partially correct, but had left out the other ingredients to the poultice. Making a mental note of the correct herbs, he took a look at what Weasletail was referring to. “That one is the goldenrod,” he mewed, nodding at the green stem that boasted many tiny fellow flowers. “And that orangey yellow one is the marigold, and the other one is the horsetail,” he said, feeling confident in his matchings. After releasing a large sigh, Shadowfoot rose to his feet and began walking, gesturing with his tail for Hailpaw to follow. “We are working on hunting today,” the large Tom told his apprentice. “Your discretion could use some practice.” He added as they made their way out of camp.

Cinderlight purred and gazed down lovingly at her mate. “They’re doing wonderfully,” she mewed, giving his head a few licks. “And thank you for the prey.” He was right about the prey - she’d forget sometimes that she’d need to eat even more than normal. “I’m sure they love their father bringing more prey for them, too!” She was very excited about having kits, but also a little nervous. She was only 20 moons, and had never given birth before. Would she be able to protect her kits, despite being stuck in the nursery?

Falconwing smiled softly and rubbed his face against Cinderlight’s, purring loudly. “You are going to make a great mother,” he said, his eyes filled with love for the pretty she cat. “Is there anything else I can do for you?” He asked, wanting to do whatever he could to help.

(( arright who’s got characters open? also shark I think Hailpaw and Fleetpaw would be interesting as brothers since they look alike but they’re pretty much opposites. What do you think? )) (That's fine by me. If Sparkly agrees, we could maybe add Frostpaw too and make it three brothers? They all look alike and it would make for interesting dynamics.)

Cinderlight purred. “You can sit with me and share the prey,” she mewed warmly. “And then maybe after that we could go for a walk, perhaps a Fawn a meadow?” The morning started off a little chilly, but now that it was warmer, she would love to go out with her mate. The meadows were always her favorite parts of the territory. She pushed the chipmunk closer to Falconwing.

Falconwing smiled, “I suppose I could eat a little bit,” he purred, licking her ear lovingly bedore adding, “And a walk sounds great. Yes...It would be good for you to stretch your legs,” the tom meowed, as though he was the expert on expecting mothers. When he had found out he was going to be a father, he had asked all the elder she cats and toms in the clan for advice and had done his best to remember it all. But Some of them gave him some silly advice to mess with him, and he had yet to realize it that one wrong move from him would not send his mate immediately into labor. Crouching down next to her, he began to eat the chipmunk, keeping one eye on Cinderlight as if she could start kitting at any moment.

Cinderlight continued eating her mouse, twitching her whiskers as her mate kept glancing at her. When they were both done, she stood up and stretched, her claws flexing on the grass. The sun felt so good on her long pelt. Suddenly, she felt a paw in her side and gasped. “They’re kicking,” she sighed, and licked her belly happily.

(( I’m just gonna post a starter anyone can respond to))
Fleetpaw, positioned near the center of the clearing, nibbling boredly on the fish he had chosen for himself. Although he didn’t particularly enjoy the scaly creature that seemed like it was left over from yesterday’s patrols and couldn’t help shooting petulant glances at the fish as if it was trying to taste bad, the ‘paw finished it quickly. I’m a growing cat after all, he added, licking his lips, to justify his actions. He stared at the bones, noticing for the first time how funny a fish’s framework looked. Snorting, he pushed aside the bones to bury later on. The long-legged apprentice didn’t usually like drowning in his boredom, but he’d woken up late, and to his disappointment, it seemed like most cats were already up and busy.

When he heard the kits were kicking, Falconwing jumped up and pressed his cheek to his mate’s belly, looking up at her excitedly as he felt them. “Incredible,” he whispered, before brushing his shoulder against Cinderligjt’s. “Ready for that walk?” The tabby tom asked, looking towards the camp entrance.

Cinderlight smiled and brushed her flank along his. “Of course,” she purred. The two walked side by side to the camp entrance, and entered the forest. Cinderlight paused to shake out her long fur, then looked at Falconwing. “Where should we go first?” she asked.

As they walked, the tom made sure to keep an eye on his mate as they made their way through the forest. "Maybe we should try going to the Fawn Meadows first?" He asked, pausing as he waited for her reply. "Since it is newleaf, there might be some fawns there." He added. It was always a curious sight to watch other animals care for their young, especially since he and Cinderleaf would be doing the same soon. "And then perhaps on the way back we can stop at Violet's Garden." He purred, knowing his mate held a soft spot for the beautiful place.

Cinderlight nodded, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “I love the meadows! Watching the deer run around is so nice, and I love flowers.” Plus, it would be easy to lay out in the sun and warm her fur, without being under the protection of the camp. And she would definitely hunt something if it weren’t for her belly getting in the way. “And I love being anywhere with you,” Cinderlight added, purring softly.
((This sounds like the beginning of something bad happening and honestly I’m here for it,,,,, is that bad lol))

(Haha we can have something bad happen if you would like. Any ideas?)
Falconwing smiled and licked her cheek before they continued walking. Her excitement filled him with joy. "And I you," He replied lovingly, twisting his tail with hers as they walked. When they arrived, he led her to a pile of rocks that sat on the edge of the meadow, giving them a great spot to lie in the sun and watch the deer.

((idk lol it’s hard to think of something that could potentially kill the kits but something could attack them like,,,, fox or badger,, or something not as common))
Cinderlight laid down on the rock, and swished her tail next to her, signaling for him to join her. When he did, she took to grooming his cheek and neck, eyes closed in relaxation. “So,” she began between licks, “how have patrols been going?” Since she was always in the nursery now, she wasn’t always around to hear about local goings-on, which is what she loved to do as a warrior and apprentice. She longed to go out and do her duties again, but their kits came first.

(Oh, wait do you want the kits to die? And I'm good with a fox. Or maybe even a snake, since they are on rocks? It could either bite him or her, and maybe she could be so upset that she goes into labor early and one of the kits dies bc its too small but the other two survive?)
Falconwing purred in delight as Cinderlight began grooming him, closing his eyes as they talked. "Patrols have been good. Nothing special, although we did smell a fox on the outer edge of the territory the other day. We haven't seen it since, though." He told her, sighing as he let his body completely relax. "This feels wonderful, Cinderlight. Thank you," he said, his voice low yet happy.

((I meant to say something that won’t kill the kits oops lol but I like the snake idea, I don’t want Falconwing to go blind or die though lol))
Cinderlight purred. “You’re welcome,” she said, then nestled her head under his, sighing contently. The kits had settled as well, and all was calm. Two fawns ran across the meadows, followed by a doe. Cinderlight smiled, then suddenly, her ears pricked. Something was moving between the rocks. A sharp smell hit her nose. “Do you feel that?” she asked in a whisper.

(Ok good XD I was afraid you wanted to kill off the kits already lol. And how about it bites his leg and they get him help before it is serious but he will always have a limp?) Falconer for rested his head on top of hers in a protective manner, pointing out the family of deer to her as they shot accross the meadow before once again letting his eyes close. When Cinderlivht spoke again, Falconwing slowly opened his eyes and scanned the rocks. A strange smell filled the air but he didn’t see anything. “Stay there,” he comanded, rising to his feet. The Tom protectively stood over his pregnant mate, hackles raised as he prepared to defend her against whatever was there. Hearing a hiss—One unlike that of any cat, he whipped around to see a large snake behind him, it’s slanted yellow eyes staring them down. He lowered himself into a crouch and let out a warning growl. The snake didn’t flinch. Without looking behind him, Falconwing slowly said, “Cinderella, get out of here. Now.”

((yes that sounds good but what’s a llano lol))
Cinderlight scurried backwards, her eyes wide in fear. She looked between the snake and her mate, her paws frozen to the spot. She wanted to fight with him, and protect Falconwing, but she also needed to protect her kits. “I’m not leaving you!” she retorted. She backed off the rock onto the one underneath it, but did not leave, her fur bristled and her claws sliding out. She let out a hiss to the snake, who did one right back. It stood eerily still, its gaze focused on Falconwing.

(Hahaha meant to say limp 😂 fixed it)
Falconwing heard Cinderflight slowly back away, but she didn’t go very far. When she hissed, the snaked turned its attention to the preganant she car and his blood froze. Seeing a moment to attack while the snakes attention was wavering, Falconwing pounced, grabbing it just behind its head and biting down. He didn’t bite it high enough though, and it had enough length to reach down and bite his right front leg. As he felt the long fangs of the snake penetrate his fur and skin, Falconwing cried out and let go of the reptile, and it quickly disappeared into the rocks.

Cinderlight saw the snake bite his leg and shrieked. She tried to run up the rock to get to him, but a sharp pain went through her stomach, and she hissed and stopped halfway. “We need to get you to camp!” she said, wincing in pain. She made it to where Falconwing was, and leaned against him, leading him down the rocks. Her stomach had another pang, but she ignored it. Her mate’s pain was much more important.
