I'm in a 3D animation course and my professors have specifically said that I need a better laptop for year 2 and 3, so for my government college bursary I listed the new laptop under "required materials" for the course and got an extra max 2000$ to spend on a laptop on top of the amount they're going to send me for my tuition.

My parents split up when I was eight, so maybe I can give you some advice? I'm sorry that it's not very helpful ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/6575102/images/RCFqazfvhbMAeE5hIhD3.gif) From what I've experienced, in the end it's not up to you to make your parents happy. If they split up, it's their own decision, and they need to grow and move on from that. They'll probably blame each other, but they should NOT blame you in any way. I think the best thing the child can do in this situation is to just be there for their parents if they need it. Whatever it comes to, I hope the best for you ^^ Divorces are tough for everyone involved, and I hope you don't feel pressured by one parent or the other. It's their battle, and you shouldn't have to carry it on your shoulders. Again, sorry it's not very good advice ;-;

(EDIT: Sorry lol I spent so long writing this post that I didn't know you responded) To kind of build on what Patience said, yes, it's NOT your burden or your responsibility to fix your parents' relationship. From my experience, if two people have lost their chemistry to the extent that they're thinking of divorce, the relationship probably can't be saved. Of course, everyone's situation is different, and I don't know anything about your parents or what's going on between them. If my parents had stayed together there would have been so much fighting and animosity in the house that it would have become much more dysfunctional than it already was. So in my case, the divorce was arguably necessary. But divorce sucks, and I hope your parents can find a way to get along and keep the family together. And Patience is right, that's between them. It's not your responsibility to fix it, and it's definitely not your fault. I know this doesn't really sound like advice. My suggestion is that maybe you can talk to them and let them know how you feel about the situation. Their ultimate priority should be you, after all, so maybe they can find a way to put aside their differences in your best interest. This'll be a rough situation but in the end, it's going to be okay ![:smiel:](//storage.proboards.com/6575102/images/wVyhXofgJJHWLPs0VWIh.png)
