It turns out Frostpaw didn't die after all, as she somehow returns to the clan soon after her sister receives her warrior name. The twins happily reunite and Songstar gives her daughter her warrior name. Though some question how it is possible she is alive the rest are happy the young cat is alright.
Wingpaw leaves the clan to be a kittypet.

The clan begins to panic as there seems to be a serial killer in their midst. Acting without evidence Firestar calls out Shay to be the one poisoning the clan and sentences her to banishment. His allegation proved to be false, however, as Shay is found dead on the territory the next day. The clan grows more worried as Firestar seems to be growing unhinged as the days go by.

Flowerpaw, Lionpaw, and Wingpaw become warriors - Flowersong, Lionfang, and Wingshine. That night, StarClan appears to them and Mooseleaf, telling them about how they are reincarnations. They accept this eagerly, and ask for their names to be changed to that of their previous lives. Squirrelheart and Angelwing's kits eagerly accept them, and Firestar believes that the four cats are destined to discover the killer and bring him or her to justice. They begin to work with Gorseflame and Frostblaze to discover the killer.

Sorry for the long post, I'm liking this plot to much...  )) As the days go by and the cats try to find more clues Firestar seems to grow more nervous by the day. Honeybadger confronts the leader about his behavior, and although he seems to brush it off at first, as they argue he accidentally confesses that he was never given his nine lives. It is revealed that StarClan never accepted him as the next leader if AppleClan for a reason he couldn't understand, and that's why he's been acting strange. For if the murderer we're to try and kill him he would die and not be revived. Honeybadger comforts him and promises to consult StarClan about this. She goes to speak with her ancestors but they do not give much help. They only relay a single ominous message to the medicine cat: 'Darkness will fade as the flames of ice and gorse ignite and show the way to the 5th tree. Gorseflame and Frostblaze discover a fifth tree alongside the other four trees at the Gathering place. At the bottom of the tree, a shimmering piece of wool is found. That night, Cloudshine is found trying to murder Angelwing, as he fears that the four cats may discover him. Firestar orders for his execution, but before he can be killed, he goes on a rampage, killing many cats, including both Gorseflame and Firestar. Squirrelheart is made leader, and Mooseleaf is made deputy.

Squirrelstar goes to receive his leader name and his nine lives, but as the tom arrives he is rejected, just as Firsestar was. Before Squirrelheart can question why, Gorseflame suddenly emerges to the scene and is revealed to be still alive, even though she was killed by the deranged Cloudshine that day. Frostblaze suddenly appears at the scene too, and as the three cats stand before StarClan the prophecy finally unfolds. From the moment of the twins' birth it was their destiny to find the missing 5th tree, the lost clan of OakClan, as their dreams had been whispering to them. It is revealed that the reason that the twins could somehow never die is because they were born with a leader's nine lives. It was their destiny to rediscover OakClan and bring the five clans back to the forest, with Gorseflame as OakClan's rightful leader, and Frostblaze as AppleClan's leader. The twins are given their leader names and all three cats return to the clan and reveal everything that happened. The twins say their tearful goodbyes, as they must now part to lead their clans. Gorsestar leads a few cats that decide leave AppleClan and join her to rebuild OakClan to a vacant area in the forest that will serve as their new OakClan territory, and Froststar takes her place as leader to lead the ones who chose to remain in AppleClan. She names Squirrelheart as her deputy, as she thinks he could make a great leader one day.
