Flowerpaw mixes up poppy seeds with another deadly herb and nearly kills Cindergaze by mistake when she came to the medicine den after having trouble sleeping. Tallleaf stepped in before anything happened, however. While she is still allowed to continue her medicine cat apprentice duties, Flowerpaw was strongly reprimanded for her mistake and is left feeling worse than before.

While Tall-leaf is out gathering herbs, and as Flowerpaw is checking on the Elders. The young apprentice later returns to the medicine cat’s den to find the kits to have messed with the herb storage. Instead of the rush of anger, Flowerpaw is shocked when she finds Frostkit and Gorsekit convulsing, Little Rowankit is also terrified but does not appear to be as badly ill. Flowerpaw hesitates but luckily remembers what herbs to grab, except they’re now scattered in the mess that was made... The loss of time and supplies ends up killing Frostkit, Gorsekit is just barely saved when Tall-leaf returns both furious but shocked at the limp form of one of the leader’s kits, and the other just barely alive. He gives her no punishment, he is both upset and relieved that at least not all three kits were lost. But he leaves her punishment in Songstar’s anguished paws. As Songstar arrives to the mess in the medicine den she is horrified to see her newborn dead on the ground. She is incredibly distraught, and tries to banish Flowerpaw but before she can do so Frostkit suddenly begins to stir. It is revealed that the kit is still alive, and Talleaf quickly goes to work with Flowerpaw to save her. After successfully saving Frostkit and leaving her to heal along her twin sister Gorsekit, Songstar forgives Flowerpaw and she is permitted to stay in the clan and keep her position.

Angelwing falls into a deep depression from losing his mate. Tall-leaf sends Flowerpaw to give Angelwing a herb mixture to help his mood, but she accidentally overdoses him, and he dies overnight. Flowerpaw, in her grief, feeds herself deathberries, killing herself. In StarClan, the four cats plan to return to the Clan soon in the form of the next two litters of kits - Angelwing and Squirrelheart split up, so they may be mates once more. Firepaw, Redpaw, and Crowpaw are made warriors.

A group of twolegs invade the territory with small twoleg monsters. The monsters finds their way to the camp and destroy everything in their paths.
