Leaf-bare strikes the clan hard. Longstorm and Lilypetal starve due to scarce prey. Heathernose, Alderclaw, and every kit in the clan fall to sickness and Glowstar loses a life.
As Shadowfrost is the only warrior left in the clan Lotuspaw is apprenticed to him. Tawnyblaze and Drizzlestorm become warriors due to the severe lack of warriors in the clan. Every cat in the clan is stressed due to their dwindling numbers.

Just as the clan cats were losing hope that their clan would survive it is revealed at a gathering that one of their neighboring clans is suffering too. A sickness wiped out many and the recent fire in the forest took even more, including their deputy and medicine cat. After a long deliberation between Glowstar and the other leader, Leapstar, it is decided that the two clans would join into one in order to survive. The clans combine their territory and Leapstar becomes co-leader with Glowstar.

Snowstar leads a patrol into a badger den by mistake. Marston and Redpaw are killed and Snowstar loses two lives. Grittywing is wounded beyond repair and retires to the elders den.
