Curlypelt is found dead on the territory with a rogue tom standing over his body. The rogue is Hawkleaf's secret mate and he argues that he was there to see her when he came across the dead warrior. The clan blames the rogue and Hawkleaf for the recent deaths and banishes both cats despite Hawkleaf being heavily pregnant. Yellowpaw and Purplepaw choose to leave with them. Sheeptuft is chosen to be Rainbowpaw's new mentor and the warrior hesitantly agrees.

Sheeptuft moves to the queens den after discovering she was carrying Bluegaze's kits. Hollystar is Rainbowpaw's new mentor. Some time afterward, Bluegaze is found brutally murdered. Sheeptuft is so distraught after the news she goes into labor, and sadly none of the kits make it through the night. Sheeptuft is left emotionally crushed and remains in the nursery as she is currently unfit to continue her duties as a warrior.
