Leafblaze exits the nursery once and bumps into Doveplume. The former queen instantly recognizes her kit before she left to become a kitty pet. The two share a tender moment and Doveplume immediately invites Hawkswoop to join the reunion. Harmonysong has her kits, adding to the morale of the clan.

Cloudtrail and Stormpaw are out on patrol when a large storm rolls in. They struggle to navigate their way home in the pouring rain, so they look for temporary shelter to wait out the storm. Lightning strikes a tree branch, which goes falling onto Cloudtrail and Stormpaw. The mentor fails to push his apprentice out of the way, crushing both him and Stormpaw under the tree branch. Cloudtrail is paralyzed from the haunches down, but Stormpaw cannot so easily stand the weight of the tree branch and dies. Cloudtrail cries for help, but doubts anyone can hear him over the storm.

Minnowpool and Beenettle eventually discover Cloudtrail's broken body and Stormpaw's corpse. They drag both of them back to camp, one for vigil, and the other to be examined by the medicine cats. There isn't no external or internal wound, but his spine being crushed to the point he can't move his hind-legs is definitely a problem. They conclude he'll live, but won't be able to undertake the chores of a warrior anymore.

She reveals that it was never a good relationship between him and Larch, for infact Larchpoppy also mothered a litter with a Rogue tom, but it is unknown what happened to them. While out hunting near the Thunderpath, Nymphpaw ends up chasing a squirrel across the Thunderpath. The apprentice successfully pounces on her catch and is about to return to safety, when a Monster comes barreling down the Thunderpath, striking the she-cat. In a failed attempt to save her, Volepaw is also hit. The tom lives but only for a few short hours after he is returned to camp, passing away from his injuries. Due to the massive flooding, many creatures have needed to evacuate the area. A patrol made of Boulderpaw, Owl, Hivecloud, and Sneezepaw encounter a male and a female badger while assessing the floods. A rogue joins in the fight, but Owl, Hivecloud, and Boulderpaw are killed in the fight. The rouge, later found out to be Whiskerreed from HollyClan, and Sneezepaw pass shortly after from their wounds.

Stormroar and Tawnyowl both pass away peacefully in his sleep. Their souls ascend together to StarClan, where they are tenderly reunited with their lost kin and children. Peachfuzz, Swanmist, and Lightdapple give them the warmest welcome and they bask in the happy reunion - to be forever together in heaven.
