Softlight studied the movements of Stormtangle as she scented the mouse. He didn't move a muscle and simply watched, waiting for her to find and catch it. Looks like she's got another head start, he thought, internally sighing and shrugging to himself. He parted his own jaws, trying to catch the sounds and scents of another form of prey, but the rushing of the water and it's nasty smell from the mud and debris it likely picked up was the only thing he really could smell.

Smallpaw yawned quietly again and followed her mentor, listening and looking out for prey, not wanting to miss anything while they were still technically training. Her stomach growled and she ignored it, shaking her head clear. "Do you want to split up perhaps?" She asked Deerleg, noticing he seemed distracted like her. Deerleg quickly snapped back to the present and looked back at Smallpaw urgently. "N-no, we can't... Remember what happened to Paintpaw?" He didn't feel it was right to blame any cat for what happened, but he knew how Paintpaw had ended up alone: she and her mentor had split up to hunt.
Feeling like he may have said that too sharply, he softened his tone and his amber eyes were apologetic. "S-sorry... I just don't want to take any chances yet... With the harsher seasons upon us, our luck just seems to run out..." The tom knew of all the predators and natural dangers that could easily find their way to Smallpaw, and the tom wanted to wait until she was older and more experienced to be able to be more relaxed. "How about we just catch one more thing each and then head back... We'll take turns," he said instead.

Paintpaw watched the group of cats nervously from the entrance of the medicine cat den. Once Hawkjaw moved to block the view of the loners to her, she also lost a good view of them. She didn't want to stress her body too much, so she decided not to squirm around to see around the deputy. She perked her ears to listen intently.
It had been a while since she ended up in the medicine den, and she was healing nicely. She had been lucky to not get an infection, and thanked her medicine cats for taking such good care of her to prevent that. She hoped that Robinwhisper would be her mentor once again when she was well enough and Flightpaw was made a warrior. She determined that right now, if she had to jump to her paws and fight, she wouldn't be much of a challenge, but would fight nonetheless.

βIβll try,β Duskwhisker purred to Rosestorm. When he looked to the apprentice den, he saw the siblingsβ chase scene and chuckled to himself. Those two were a pawful when they were together. He missed being that young and playful. He padded over to them and stopped in front of Tricklepaw. βWould you like to go out for some training?β he asked his apprentice, glancing nervously at the loners out of his eye. βItβll get you out of camp and away from them, for a little bit, at least.β

Robinwhisper nodded at Flightpaw in praise for catching the mouse. She pricked her ears to listen to her surroundings, parting her jaws slightly to let the crisp, earthy fall smells enter her senses. Minute rustling could be heard to her left, and the smell indicated that a small thrush was near. She narrowed her eyes slightly in an attempt to locate the bird. Finding it beneath a fern frond, she crouched low to the ground, steadying her tail so her silky strands of fur wouldn't brush a leaf. She quickly reached the bird before slapping a heavy unsheathed paw on it, pinning it down and administering a quick killing bite. She thanked starclan silently before picking the prey up and flicking her tail towards camp.

Tricklepaw's ears perked happily at the suggestion but he paused a minute before turning back to Cobwebpaw. "I'm serious. Leave it alone," he warned his sister, who only answered with a roll of her eyes and a shooing wave of her tail. Tricklepaw shook his head before turning back to Duskwhisper. "I'd love too. Having this many new cats around is making me twitchy." the apprentice admitted with a flick of his tail tip.

Daisypaw sat next to Paintpaw, her tail flicking impatiently. βThereβs too many strange cats coming around here,β she huffed. Cinderlight and Falconwing had left earlier back to Skystarβs den, so now it was just Paintpaw in there with her, for now. The small apprentice scuffed her paw in the dirt. βI mean, I know Goldenstrike and me were loners, but thatβs not the point. We didnβt decide to show up so close to leaf-bare.β

Duskwhisker smiled softly. βMe, too,β he said, then brushed Tricklepawβs shoulder with his tail as he turned and walked toward the entrance. Hopefully there wouldnβt be any more strange events happening outside of camp, and he could spend some time alone with his apprentice.

Stormtangle stayed perfectly still, still in a crouch position. She was nearly upon her prey before her tail accidentally brushed some fallen leaves, sending a few of them skittering across the floor. The movement in the reeds grew still before the mouse shot out in a panic. Silently cursing her clumsiness, Stormtangle gave chase. She lunged but was a moment too late, her paws hitting the ground a second after where the mouse had been. She watched it scuttle to safety underneath a tree root and lashed her tail in annoyance. "Fox dung! I almost had it." She hissed, suddenly growing embarrassed. She had let Softlight see her make a rookie mistake. "Uh, sorry about that..." She muttered, feeling herself go red.

Hawkjaw sat steady as a stone, his tail erect. He had forgotten Brokennose and Waterfur weren't clan-born cats, they had assimilated to clan life so well. These cats must have been the ones they lived with prior to joining us. He said to himself, observing the way the cats seemed so comfortable around each other. "Ash?" He mewed under his breath.

Grabbing his mouse, Flightpaw gave a nodding gesture and continued in the direction towards camp. He admired Robinwhisper's swiftness, and considered how completely opposite she was to her sister in many ways. Though he had no issues with Bluepool of course, he rarely saw her and knew where she usually was. He was glad that Robinwhisper was a better warrior in regard to responsibilities. He knew that if he hadn't received Robinwhisper as a mentor, it would have been unlikely he would have clicked so well with a different mentor to finish his training.

Tricklepaw followed his mentor, keeping near his side as they walked. A lot had been going on lately, a lot of strangers. People getting hurt. It was making him on edge from his whiskers to his tail tip. Hopefully, this would keep his mind off of all that for a while. "So..." he drawled, looking at Duskwhisker curiously. "What are we going to be doing?"
--
Cobwebpaw watched her brother walk off and waited until he was out of sight to creep towards her mentor. She knew he would hear her regardless of how quietly she tried to stalk but it was more dramatic this way. She kept a tail length of two away from the strange cats but pointedly glared at them. She puffed out her chest and stared at them, watching for any signs of aggression. Mangey strangers thinking they could just come into their camp like this! Well, Skystar wouldn't stand for that, she was sure!

Paintpaw kept her eyes on the strange cats while nodding gingerly in agreement. She wasn't against helping, and knew that Skystar would feel the same as Daisypaw did. Paintpaw herself had been a loner as well, and if the Clan hadn't come along to save her, she knew she would have died. Though, it was no where near as close to Leafbare as it is now in the season, and she worried for her clanmates.
"I'm sure Skystar will take care of it..." she said, more to herself than Daisypaw. She then turned to her friend and asked, "That tom that came in earlier... Falconwing...? Can he even hunt? He looked hurt pretty bad."

Softlight shrugged, obviously unbothered. "That's fine, now we're even," he said light-heartedly, another small smile appearing on his fuzzy muzzle as he referred to his slowness earlier as Stormtangle had raced him. "Besides... it's fine, we get to stay out longer together."
The young tom didn't wait for a reply as he quickly trotted down the bank, trying to keep his paws out of the wet sand to prevent his paws from getting cold or making too much noise. He continued searching the plants that grew near the water's edge, hoping he'd hear some prey sneaking around.

Stormtangle blinked as she watched the tom trot away. She smiled shyly and went the opposite direction, hoping her earlier outburst hadn't scared the rest of the prey away. She sniffed along the bank, her ears pricked for any sound of movement. While tasting the air, she scented squirrel a bit farther into the underbrush and diverged from the stream to deeper into the trees. She saw the squirrel a few moments later, going about gathering his store of nuts for the upcoming leafbare. She dropped into a crouch yet again, this time remembering to keep her tail held high off the ground.

Duskwhisker flicked his ear in acknowledgement. βWeβve been working more on fighting for the past moon, due to the foxes, so today I think weβll hunt.β He stopped when the reached the edges of the Whispering Trees, and he lifted his tail to signal him to stop. He then turned to look at Tricklepaw. βWhat can you scent?β

Daisypaw sighed and shook her head. βItβll take a few days to heal, and probably even longer to get used to hunting and fighting with it,β she said, narrowing her eyes in thought. βI have no idea how he kept anyone in that family fed that long.β

Tricklepaw jolted to a sudden stop at his mentor's signal and took a deep breath, letting the scents roll over his nose and mouth. Everything smelled damp from the recent rain and water clung heavy to the air but he pushed past it to the warm scents of prey. "Sparrow...squirrel..maybe a rabbit but that may be stale," he answered with a frown at the less potent scent of the rabbit. A rabbit would be good for the nursery right now. Hopefully, he was wrong.

"He had his whole family to feed... I'm sure it was hard for him, but it proves that he has the heart of a true warrior. Like they claim they are." She didn't doubt the family, but like most of her clanmates, she wasn't eager to trust them so early on.
As she lay down to keep her paws warm underneath her body as she looked on at the stangers, she then changed the subject. "So... do you think I can get back to training soon?" she asked, feeling optimistic.

Duskwhisker scented the air, then nodded. βGood. Track down the stronger one and show me where it is,β he said. He hoped they would find even more prey than they did earlier, but at this time of day, animals would be scrounging for food. The more open area would make it easier to find the prey, but catching may be a bit harder.

Softlight suddenly heard scuttling along the bank, spotting a vole underneath a willow that was low-growing and creeping along the edge of the stream. The tom focused his senses on it, slowly moving towards it. To his side, he spotted a pebble. With expert precision, he flicked it with his tail to the opposite direction of the vole, making it land on the other side of the willow. The creature reacted by bolting out from underneath the willow, and Softlight took the chance and caught it without much effort. He killed it, thanked StarClan, and buried it away from the water.

Daisypaw looked over at Paintpaw. βI would think so,β she said hopefully. βIn the next moon, Iβd say. We just need to get the deeper wounds all the way healed, and get you even more mobile.β She adverted her gaze back to the loners. βBut itβs all up to what Whisperwing thinks. It should be soon, though.β

She only felt a pang of sadness because she enjoyed spending her days with Daisypaw. Though she reminded herself that she could still come and visit her, and it's not she was leaving the Clan or something! Shaking her head, Paintpaw started to lose her mind to her thoughts about becoming a warrior, and smiled unconsciously.

"You got it." Tricklepaw murmured and scented again, trying to catch the trail of the sparrow. He stalked softly through the sparse trees for a few fox-lengths before pausing. His ear twitched to the right at the sound of rustling and he followed it with his body close to the ground. As he moved around a large bush, he caught sight of the plump sparrow and his tail twitched in excitement. It brushed against one of the brush's leaves and startled the bird. It began to flutter and fly past the apprentice. Impulsively, the tom threw himself into the air and batted the bird to the ground with his paw. He blinked in shock as he landed before diving forward to finish the bird off. The apprentice dropped the sparrow at his feet with awe all over his face. "That...has never worked before!" he cheered. "Cobwebpaw is going to be so jealous of my catch!"
((I wanted to give him one cool catch cause I think I'm gonna have him bomb this lol.))

"Yes."Brokennose answered a little confused."If you don't mind my asking, why is that important?"He asked with a confused voice. [Hopefully this was to Skystar and not Hawkjaw lol]
Skystar's tail-tip twitched as he tried to retain his cool demeanor. "Well, because they made the choice to not join... That also makes the fact that they knew we existed and have a territory border obvious. So in turn, they're not welcomed here. Once you chose GroveClan, that was also a choice of loyalty."
The silver tom said these things carefully and calmly. He knew that he couldn't go easy on these cats--especially in front of the rest of the Clan--just because they knew some of his warriors. But thats just the thing... they're his warriors. They weren't loners anymore, so their loyalties should belong to the Clan first... even if it meant having to chase these two cats off of the territory.

Dreamwave noticed Cobwebpaw padded over towards the loners. She moved towards her, keeping her shoulder against the apprentice, giving her a stern look that told her not to move closer to Skystar or the others. She knew the little apprentice was total pawful, and even though Skystar was her mentor, she didn't want Cobwebpaw thinking that that was a good enough reason for her to get involved.
