Again, Paintpaw nodded rigorously. "Okay!" she responded energetically. On full alert, she set her nose to searching. She quickly scented a second sparrow, closer this time... she hoped. Using her ears, she was able to hear it dawdling along the ground nearby. She weaved around the tree where Robinwhisper had caught hers, and moved several tail lengths away, following the sounds and scent. Spotting it, she slowly maneuverd herself into a slow, crouching position, creeping her way along the ground carefully. She pounced at just the right moment, catching the bird before it could take flight. Surprised, it took her a moment before she killed it. "I got it!" she called back to her mentor. Thanking StarClan, she brought it back to where Robinwhisper was.

(ooc: sorry for the late reply ! I've been packing and getting things last minute. I'm actually going to fly out to visit a friend for the next week, so idk how active I'll be.)
Rainbelly made a sheepish and breathy noise as the queen calmed down from her initial startle, inviting himself to sit down a couple tail-lengths from her. " 'S no problem. I can only imagine, the prey here is delicious." He nodded to himself, trying to give her an inviting look. "If I'm allowed," he paused, biting the inside of his cheek, "how are things going for you in the clan so far? It's probably a little different than what you expected."

Robinwhisper swelled with pride as she watched her apprentice drop her kill beside the other sparrow. "Great! Okay, let's try to get one more kill each and then it's back to the camp!" The sun was now rising above the trees, and Robinwhisper was anxious to get back to camp to help the rest of the warriors prepare for leaf-fall.

Proudly, Paintpaw waved her tail as she could barely hide her happiness. "Sure, Robinwhisper!" she replied. "Can we split up? I wanna try without you watching me," she mewed, mostly serious. She didn't want to accidentally mess up like she had with the squirrel again in front of her mentor. She was still relatively new to the hunting, but she was glad to have an apprentice that was as understanding as she.[/sub]

Robinwhisper suppressed a mrrow of laughter at her apprentice's enthusiasm. She recalled her own days as an apprentice, and was happy to find that Paintpaw's progression in hunting was going much smoother than her own had. She was a ditzy kit, making her an oblivious apprentice. Her will to please her own mentor, Hawkjaw, though had made her progress in battle training a breeze. "Splitting up is a great idea, don't forget your sparrow before heading back to camp." She needed before bounding away in the direction of the stream. Now let's see what Bluepool is up to.

Paintpaw nodded, bounding off in the opposite direction of her mentor. She decided to head even further, maybe even towards the gorge. Would Robinwhisper be mad if I caught a bunch of prey? she wondered. She had to also account for the sparrow she had caught, remembering she'd have to carry that back to the camp as well. She thought a few mice or some rodents would be easier to carry by the tail, and padded off quickly.

Bubbles formed at the surface of the Broken River near the mouth of the second break. Emerging gracefully was Bluepool, the she-cat carrying a trout in her jaws. She approached the bank nearest the Clan camp, carefully stepping out of the water and placing the fish down before shaking herself off. "Mother better not be mad at me if I bring this much prey back to camp," she spouted. Two trout and two minnows lay near her as she licked her paws. Her pelt shimmered with water in the sun as she groomed herself, glancing back towards the water, her eyes glazing with thoughts.

The day was unseasonably hot, and much prey was taking advantage of what could be the last warm day. The undergrowth between Whispering Trees and the stream was alive with movement, but Robinwhisper had her mind set on seeing if the stream was occupied by her sister. Starclan help Bluepool if she has been a t the stream all morning and not caught anything. Dreamwave would be furious enough to send her to y'all. she thought as the undergrowth began to get sparse. The stream was up ahead, glittering in the sunlight of sunhigh. Along the bank, Robinwhisper spotted something else glittering and blue among the fronds. Her sister, Bluepool was at the edge of the stream, back turned toward her serenely. "Well aren't you a sight!" she yowled cheerfully, racing to her sister.

Softlight shook his head lightly and blinked a few times, trying to focus. He remembered this scent faintly, from his very early apprentice days. "Uhm... fox... maybe?" he suggested, wondering if that was true. "We should go and tell Skystar right away, so our patrols can be aware and safe," he meowed. He was unaware on the exact freshness of the scents, but knew that what he said was necessary. His voice shook slightly, but he felt like they should hurry back to camp to warn the Clan. "Uhh y-yes, definitely!" Bettlewing nodded vigorously, already breaking out into a canter back towards camp. He fled the sight both out of urgency and fear of the unknown, the swift-footed tom repeatedly glancing behind him to make sure Softlight was still following--and only Softlight, for that matter. Practically falling into camp, he quickly padded with Softlight to Skystar's den, glancing past other cats in the clearing with wide worried eyes.

Hawkjaw was just a few foxlengths out of the camp at the time of Beetlewing's dramatic entrance, and smelled the fear on the tom immediately as he passed. Curious to see what had the warrior so worked up, Hawkjaw padded back into camp. He braced himself for bad news when he saw Beetlewing and Softlight entering Skystar's den.

"Oh yes, very different," Jasminefoot nodded, having an air of both uncertainty and enthusiasm to her tone. "Many new things I learn every day. Lots of faces. Lots of smells." She giggled softly, instinctively ducking her head to hide her laugh. She could recall the first time she was shown where the Dirtplace was, and how overwhelming the commingling of so many different cats'...leavings... were to her senses. "But I meet many nice cats. They show me how to make kitty bed out of moss and leaf. Amazing!" Her smile brightened as she shared her experience with fitting into the unfamiliar clan life.

Smokefur walked out of the warriors den. Seeing many cats sharing tongues.
"This is so peaceful," Smokefur thought. "HawkClan was so horrible, they didn't have a medicine cat, everyone was dying. I'm glad that I ran away."

[on my phone so might as well reply to both convos at once lol]
Bluepool blinked, brought out of her day dreaming. She turned to see Robinwhisper, relatively surprised. "What are you doing out here?" she asked. "Did Dreamwave send you?" She seemed a little concerned and slightly pulled her body to a different direction, as if she didn't want to hear what her mother wanted to say about Bluepool's constant desire to be away towards the river.
Softight padded quickly, very close to Beetlewing. Although his mouth was closed, his sides were heaving heavily. He wanted to give a calm demeanor of to his classmates, not wanting to alert them too much before speaking with Skystar. Without announcing themselves, Softlight padded right into the leaders den. Though a tight fit, he squeezed himself in. He noticed his leader standing near his nest, finishing his morning grooming before looking up at them, a surprised look on his face.

Noticing the young warrior, Loudstep called out. "Hey, Smokefur, mind sharing the squirrel with me? I don't eat this much these days, and I grabbed a fat one." The elder say outside the elders den alone, a squirrel at his paws, barely touched.

Beetlewing looked from Skystar to Softlight, seemingly unsure of himself. He knew it was rude to speak unless spoken to, so he first dipped his head in quick greetings.

Having forgotten to himself, Softlight quickly dipped his head. "Uhm, good morning, Skystar. We're sorry to intrude so rudely, but um, we just found something in the forest... something you should really know about."
Skystar frowned, his eyes narrowing. He grew a little worried, but his voice was smooth, yet questioning. "What is it?" he asked simply. A tuft of fur still stood up on his flank, but the leader didn't lose his fierce look because of it. He was all business now.

Robinwhisper smiled, she could read her sister like a book, das they both shared an innate desire to please their mother. Though, she wasn't exactly sure how her mother felt about Bluepool steeling away before dawn. "No, Dreamwave is out hunting. We both guessed where you'd be, though." She mewed, laughter tinting her voice. She turned and saw the trout and minnows Bluepool had caught, and was pleased her sister would be able to give her clan the fruits of her endeavors. "Busy day, I'm guessing?" She asked, her gaze still down at the slimy prey.

Bluepool nodded once in reply to her sister about the fish she had caught. "I've been out since dawn, and thought I'd do a little so Dreamwave wouldn't try to rip my fur out," she muttered. "On the subject of the fish, since its Leaffall, it's about time some larger ones are finishing moving to the lake from the mountains. Might as well get what I can before it freezes over." The she cat then sighed. She was always depressed during the leafbare season, when it was cold and she couldn't swim.

Robinwhisper felt heat flushing to her face. It was moments like these that she felt a distance between she and her sister. She wished she could understand the inevitable darkness Bluepool would feel in the coming moons, but swimming was about as unnatural as flying to her. She shifted her front paws nervously, "Uhm... It's been a while since dawn.. Would you like to head back to camp? I mean if you want some help carrying your prey and all." She looked up to meet her sister's eyes. "Unless you'd like to stay and swim a bit longer."

"Uhh... sure, I guess..." Bluepool replied in defeat to her sister. Though she commonly tried, she knew she couldn't avoid other clan duties all of the time. She picked up half of the fish, glad she would be a little less disappointing to Dreamwave today. She waved to Robinwhisper with her tail, took a last, longing glance at the river, and started back towards camp.

"I wonder if the morning patrol found anything." Robinwhisper mewed over her shoulder before picking up Bluepool'a prey in her jaws. The taste of the fish in her mouth resembled that of bad blood and had a strong odor. Robinwhisper almost regretted offering help to her sister. "It wohld be wuhly cohl if they did." She mouthed around the fish.

Bluepool semi-shrugged as they walked along, not very interested if they had or hadn't found prey that morning. She felt a pang of guilt strike her thinking in that way, since she felt like she wasn't functioning truly as a Clan cat. I wonder how Robinwhisper and Dreamwave would feel... if they knew how terrible my thoughts could be towards my clanmates... Her steps slowed a little, feeling ashamed.

Smokefur got out of the warriors den, stared around and walked out of the camp to the Whispering Trees to catch some fresh kill. He sniffed around. "Squirrel," he thought. He went into the pounce and got the squirrel. Then he heard something.

"Would you quit moping and get a move on! I know you are a river cat and probably absorb water for energy, but i'm HUNGRY!" Robinwhisper complained as Bluepool's steps slowed. Jeez, you'd think she'd be happy she got to spend some time away from everything. Robinwhisper thought. She truly couldn't understand her sister's plight. As the two went deeper into the forest and the sun sweeped across the sky more, she realized how drained she was. I hope the morning patrols are back already. I'm starved. Then she remembered the sparrow she had to pick up. "There's one thing I need to do Bluepool!" Robinwhisper mewed, beckoning with her tail for her sister to turn and follow her toward Whispering Trees.
