"Oh, me... " Whitesky's voice trailed up and she glanced at the sky. "Enjoying Starclan's warmth, or trying to. I wasn't assigned on any patrols today. A shame." The last comment was made with sarcasm in mind, yet no hint of it touched her tongue.

Ashstep continued to groom as he listened. He almost felt a little jealous of how she could just sit there and not do anything. "Maybe now the sun is gone you should do something," he offered in way of a suggestion. "There is always something to be doing."

"Oh, well, I guess..." Whitesky shuffled her paws. "Redheart already has Antpaw cleaning out all the bedding. Willowheart has Clearpaw to help with herbs. I don't know what else I could do, really."

"You could go hunting," Ashstep was quick to suggest. "Or maybe ask Willowheart if she needs any herbs." He was running out of suggestions now, but there was one more, "Or you could ask Redheart if there is anything which needs doing," he flicked his tail towards the she-cat, "If you want interrupt, anyhow."

Whitesky seemed to shrink inside herself. "I... I could go hunting?" She mumbled, a half question. Hunting is so much work, though. What if I fail?

{I have to go noww. I'll be on tomorrow}
Ashstep smiled as he jumped back onto his paws, eyes just that little bit brighter than before. "Great! I'll go with you then, two cats are always going to be better than one. We'll bring back more prey than Troutstar could ever believe."

(ok! see ya!)
"Oh, that sounds great!" Whitesky's mood was greatly increased. "Thank you, Ashstep!" The she-cat jumped down on the rock beside him. She definitely didn't want to be alone hunting.

"You can only do so much. You're only one cat," Swiftflight meowed then paused, contemplating something. He decided only a heartbeat later and leaped from the rocks to the ground beside the deputy, landing lightly on his black and white paws. "But now you will have more help. I'll do whatever I can to ensure our leader is safe. That's what a real warrior does." The tom of few words stated these sentences so surely, and even his short tail landed gently on the she-cat's shoulder for reassurance. "We will help him together."

Although Ashstep had only really just gotten back from hunting, he was already quite excited to go out again. Sitting around camp was just boring. "Where would you like to try our luck?" He asked, offering Whitesky the chance to pick a location.

Redheart allowed herself a small amount of relief. "Yes, that is what a real warrior does." She glanced around camp, hoping to find Troutstar - and she did. The leader was trying to make a beeline for the medicine den, but she spotted him. She looked back at Swiftflight. "Troutstar's back. Come with me." Without further ado, she whirled around and half-sprinted half-trotted towards Troutstar. He didn't look like he was doing too well, what had he been doing outside the camp?
"What about Three Claws?" Whitesky suggested. "It's not too far from camp, and there's lots of prey there."

[Hey guys! Rabbitswoop and the apprentices are open] A crying Nidoking
Featherfall quickly went to drop her piece of prey on the freshkill pile before turning to make sure Rabbitstar made it to the medicine den, and saw Redheart swooping down on him like a Hawk. She hesitated to head in her direction, but decided that she could probably redirect some of the anger on herself, and she knew that Redheart would be furious with her. It was with that thought that she padded over, at a reasonable although not outlandish pace.

"Troutstar? Where have you been?" Redheart's voice behind him made Troutstar turn around.
"Minding my own business," Troutstar responded, his voice hoarse. He felt like he would lose his voice entirely soon.
"You look worse than you did this morning." Redheart pointed out with a lash of her tail. "You know you need rest. I've told you to get rest."
"And I have, Redheart," Troutstar snapped back. "I went hunting. It's not like hunting a mouse is going to kill me now, is it?"
Redheart was silent. It might.

"You need to let him live his life Redheart. I know that you don't want to lose him, and neither do the rest of us, but not allowing him to spend time doing what he loves is no way to live, and leaves no reason to live. Stressing him out is not going to help anything either." Featherfall did not speak it loudly, even though her tones were filled with frustration and anger. She hated confrontation, but Redheart was not being fair to the old tom who had done so much for their clan.

Redheart whirled around to face the warrior. "I'm trying to keep our clan leader safe!" She snapped. "Sick cats aren't allowed to go hunting or patrolling so that they can get better. That's what we do. If you were sick, Featherfall, you wouldn't be allowed on patrols either. Troutstar needs rest so he can get better."
Troutstar lashed his tail as he listened to Redheart's words. "I'm not a kit to be watched from the shadows by its mother," he snarled at his deputy. "You should know better than that. I am your leader."

Raggedstrike had lagged behind the pair of cats and when he made it to the fresh-kill pile, his ears pricked as he heard arguing, and recognized the voices of Redheart, Troutstar, and Featherfall. At first, he was going to put in his two-cents, but decided against it. It'd probably be best to stay out of clan drama, at least if he wanted to be chosen as deputy. He carefully placed his and Troutstars quail on the pile and grabbed a vole to eat, and tried to tune out the quarrel.
If anyone has cats open, I have Frozenpaw, Flintpath, Antpaw, and Splashberry open, and now Raggedstrike as well :3

"Why don't you listen to he wants as well? He deserves at least that much. Hovering over him constantly will not help anything. He became a leader because he was determined and stubborn, and wanted to do everything for this clan. I see that and respect it in you even, but he also listens to his clan-mates. Something you could improve on." She was turning the conversation, expressing things that had been murmurs around camp. She couldn't back off here. Redheart needed to let Rabbitstar live out the rest of his life. She couldn't imagine ever having to stay in camp and not do something to help her clan. It would drive her nuts.

Doepaw looked around and saw Antpaw still cleaning out the elders den. "Want any help?" she asked as she padded quietly forward.

"If you have any sense, you'll listen to her, Redheart." Troutstar snapped. The whole argument had caused him nothing but embarrassment. "You may be deputy, but I am clan leader. My word is law. And I am telling you to let me live."
Redheart looked from Featherfall to Troutstar. And then to Raggedstrike and Swiftflight. No one was going to agree with her? "Fine," she snapped at him. "Have it your way. I was only trying to protect you."

Featherfall sighed. "Protection is nothing if you can not live." She turned to Troutstar. "I'm sorry to be constantly intruding. You are your own cat, and I have probably overstepped more boundaries today then in most of my life." she smiled softly.

Raggedstrike sighed. He left his half-eaten vole and walked over to the group of angered cats. He stood next to Redheart, looking at her with sympathetic eyes. "Calm down everyone. Redheart, i'm sure Troutstar appreciates all you've done for him, but he just wants some freedom is all." He meowed calmly, trying to calm the deputy's temper. He felt bad that it she was being yelled at for caring, even if Troutstar and Featherfall were right.

"Living is the point." Redheart pointed out, anger souring her voice. "That's why I want him to stay safe and get better. Because I do want him to live."
"Raggedstrike is correct." Troutstar croaked. "I'm glad that you want me to live forever, but frankly, I'd rather be doing other things than being confined in camp all day. I am my own cat, Redheart." His blue eyed watched her as she looked away, and he said, "I've had enough of this. Redheart, think about what I have said and go about your business."
Redheart, embarrassed - even though she thought she was still right - bowed stiffly and left the three cats to themselves.

Antpaw grumbled as he exited the elders den. All day, he'd been changing nests and fetching food for others. The elders had been kind enough to share a mouse with him, but that didn't make up for the fact he had to search each of them individually for ticks. He was completely over doing the younger apprentices duties, and was ready to do anything else. He stood outside the elders den, looking around camp to find someone to do something with.
Flintpath hadn't done much since his hunting with Raggedstrike except bask in the sun. He hoped no one noticed that he hadn't done much, but he worked all day yesterday so he figured a little time to relax wouldn't hurt anyone. He began to groom his fur, laying down tufts of fur that were sticking up unnaturally.
