That can be the case for some people. ^^ Don't worry about it. There is time and epic enough stories in other genres.
I'm kinda sorta reading Fellowship of the Rings right now.

I LOVED The Lord of the Rings trilogy and in HS read all three books cover to cover over and over, and then again about 10 years later LOL.

Nice! I want to watch the movies now, but I'm not sure if they are any good. But I'd be will to try. I'm having a bit of a hard time keeping all the characters' names straight. But I like Strider a lot.

But I like Strider a lot. Movies are awesome. They stuck to the books really well which pleased me. Strider was one of my fav characters! AS you get into it the character names will not be so confusing. My Independent Studies prof in HS said "It starts out a bit slow and g hard to follow but stick with it and you won't be disappointed" And I do concur.

Oh! That's very nice to hear! I want to watch the movies before I go to the next book or get deeper into the world. Movies tend to really hook me into a book - helps me remember names, for starters. And gives me a visual. If I can watch, say, the first one, I think I can go off to read the rest of the books with a clearer picture of what's going on in my head.

I keep meaning to read Lord of the Rings! I tried reading The Hobbit once but I just couldnβt get into it. That was years ago though so maybe Iβll have to give them both another try. The movies might be a good place to start.

I'm rather the opposite LOL When I read books then see the movies and if they don't stick to the book's sttoryline and characters it really turns me off. But if I don't read the book first then do so afterward and things are different it kind of ruins things. BUt I can enjoy both versions if well done.

I personally didn't like the Hobbit much? It just seemed to drag on a while. Lord of the Rings seems better so far.
Yeaaaah, I like well done movie adaptions. Pity there seems to be more poorly done ones than well done ones.

Maybe Iβll have to give it a chance then! Iβll add it to my never ending want to read list xD
Yeah I find the only book to movie adaptation that I like both equally is Harry Potter

My to-read list is as long as their are books. XD
Currently it includes being halfway through Heroes of the Holocaust. Because apparently I like having my heart in little fragments. ;-;
Either that, or apparently reading Doctor Who comics. To balance out, ha ha.

I read LOTR before the Hobbit, so when I did finally read it, it was interesting as I knew the world and characters already
I LOVE DR Who. My model horse stable is called Tardis Stables... LOL

Heh heh heh. XD Nice Phantom!
I read the Hobbit first, so in reverse, when I started LotR, I know a lot of the characters and what was being talked about.

With LOTR I remember reading the 1st few chapters, and even tho it was slow at 1st it was enough to keep my interest until it drew me all in about the time they met Strider at the Inn. . . then I read the books again back to back, and several times again during that time. Sheesh I should know every word LOL. I did a similar thing when I read Dragonriders of Pern! Ended up reading The White Dragon 1st and then going back and reading the 1st two. Then reread them again in order! I don't do that much these days. Once I read something I'm done, unless its extra good, and even then, I don't have that urge to reread unless a lot of time has passed.

I haven't read the Dragonriders of Pern! What's it about? Excellent series about people who land on a planet to colonize and to fight the threat from a planet in the system that spews a parasite onto that word they developed thread fighting Dragons from the indigenous fire lizards. The 1st book opens in a time where dragons were only in one weyr and life killing thread hasn't been seen in over 300 tyurns. People see the red planet getting brighter in the sky, but don't belive there is danger, while a couple of the Dragonriders do. Its an excellent series, and one of my all time favs. Start with Dragonflight, then Dragonquest then the White Dragon. After that you should be able to read them in order, or not LOL.

It's about these teens (and as the series goes on they grow up) who have to stay with their grandparents while their parents are on vacation. They think it's going to be very boring, but then there are puzzles around and as they solve them they find out that their grandparents are actually running this secret preserve for mythical creatures. And then the teens go off to make some horrible mistakes and everyone has to deal with the consequences. It's a fun series. The author is really good at blending creatures we're familiar with with creatures we aren't. And he does an amazing job with putting a new spin on dragons, unicorns, and various other creatures that you don't expect. I highly recommend it. It's very good. Usually what I say to a lot of people - and my sister says it as well - is that for Brandon Mull's books you have to see the first book as the groundwork. He's setting up the world and in hindsight the first book is actually going to look very important after you read the other books. For example, the first Fablehaven book takes about ... 6 chapters? ... before the fantasy starts to show through.

It does sound very good! Like something I definitely would read. And having written a series of books about my alien beings, the 1st book is pretty important laying out the groundwork, the world, the characters etc, though one could read the short tale collection and get the same result. I will look it up. Its so easy to grab a book and dump it into my Kindle!

Hey everyone! It's been a while! I hadn't updated this since last year and have only really popped onto the forums every few months for a day or so. But lately, I've been hit with a bit of nostalgia as well as an overwhelming amount of free time so I decided to work on this story again. It also turned out I had a good chunk of chapter three already written and I had just forgotten about it xD So chapter three has now been posted and I'm hoping to get chapter four up later this week or sometime next week. I'm also hoping to start catching up on everything I've been wanting to read here on the forums this week so I'll be sticking around for a while I think. But anyways, it'll be nice seeing everyone here again!
