Reedshade glanced to Sparrowheart as she walked over, soon joined by Berrytooth. He purred. "Then we'll just have to create our own hunting patrol," he said, looking to see if anybody else was keen on joining before flicking his tail and heading back through the camp entrance. "Where should we go?" he asked them, considering whether his earlier hunting might have disturbed any prey in the forest.

"I suggest we go to the waterfall. No one has hunted there for a little while." BerryTooth flicked her tail to the left to indicate the trail. Her eyes shone at the prospect of catching a mouse.
(I also wanna include my loner in rp so))

"Hmmm..." Sparrowheart hummed, falling in step behind Reedshade. She looked at Berrytooth to see if she had any suggestions. She herself wasn't particularly good at deciding. "Perhaps the forest near the springs? Wait, no... that's stupid. It's too hot today for prey to be running there..." Ah, the waterfall. Berrytooth's suggestion made more sense.

Reedshade flicked his tail over Sparrowheart's ear. "No idea is stupid," he mewed, bowing his head in response to Berrytooth's suggestion. "The prey will want to be near water to cool off, and to drink." The spray of the waterfall might yet cool their pelts too. Turning in direction of the waterfall, the warrior walked on.

AshPaw looked around and saw another patch of the plant and so padded over and laid down his bundle. He snipped some stems off of the new plant and added it to his bundle before turning back to MothPaw with a happy look on his face. When he looked at the tom another emotion also shone in his eyes.

Mothpaw, with a bunch of the herb in his jaws as well, smiled thankfully at Ashpaw. They would never run out of coltsfoot now! He ran ahead to return home.
---
Sparrowheart's ear twitched after being hit and she gave a small chuckle. The cool of the water sounded amazing. Maybe she could impress her clanmates by catching a fish! Those were hard to get a hold of.

BerryTooth padded along behind ReedShade and looked at the tree tops as they swayed in a sudden breeze. Birds flitted off and the chatter of squirrels could be heard in the tree tops.
Marble was sitting by the pond drinking some of the clear liquid when she caught the smell of cats. She was immediately alert and jumped into the pond to dilute her scent before walking in the shallows till she was close enough for the waterfall to spray her softly. Then she shuffled through a small tunnel under some bushes and laid down her den as quietly as possible.
(Could ReedShade possibly find her an talks to her but he doesn't report her to ViperStar?))

AshPaw watched as MothPaw raced off and sped up as well. In no time he was sprintinf=g and was soon enough running alongside MothPaw. He was having such a good time running with his crush that he did 't notice the tree ahead of him until he went face first into it.

Sparrowheart was enjoying the cooler air already. It smelled so clear and hopeful too. Perhaps it was a bit ridiculous to enjoy the surroundings so much, but it was just too fantastic. Her whiskers then twitched. "I smell squirrels."
---
Mothpaw found Ashpaw gaining on him. He furrowed his brow competitively and sped up. This was now a race, and he was determined to win.

[ ooc: depending on how it goes - Reedshade is pretty chill, he'd warn her away and wouldn't want to stick around, but he wouldn't immediately report back on it if he feels she'll stay out of the Clan's way. ]
Reedshade continued walking until the hunting patrol reached the waterfall. A splash made his ears twitch. Fish? It sounded bigger. "Let's split up," he said quietly to his fellow warriors. "I'll scout this side of the waterfall. Try to stay nearby though - and don't go for a swim until we've caught enough to feed the nursery." A rumble of a purr rose in his throat as he added, "If we return to camp dripping wet, maybe we can help cool off the others by shaking over them." Somehow he doubted they'd all appreciate it. Dropping into a crouch, he began stalking through the nearby bushes. A scent of cat, stale it seemed at first, caught his nose.

AshPaw's head was pounding as his vision cleared and he found himself sitting in his hindquarters, the coltsfoot still clamped in his mouth as he felt the fur around his nose thicken with blood.

Marble heard some of the bushes nearby rustle and tensed. Her blue eyes filled with worry and fear as she steadied her breathing and clawed her nest up around her sides more.

Enough to feed the nursery. Alright. With a goal in mind, determination would keep her going. A deep purr rumbled her chest, too, at what Reedshade said. She could imagine soaking the clan with her coat. It could hold more than the tom and Berrytooth's fur combined. She started off in the direction of a low-branched tree. Maybe there would be a squirrel nest there.
---
Suddenly Ashpaw wasn't behind nor next to him. Mothpaw slowed to a stop and saw him sitting at the foot of a tree. Seeing the blood, it didn't take long to figure out what happened. He set down the coltsfoot and rushed over to him. He was a medicine cat, after all.

AshPaw was still a little dazed as he saw MothPaw rush toward him. He thought he saw worry on the other cat's face but he tried to keep his feelings in check. He's only worried because he's the medicine cat apprentice. There's no way he likes you... The thought made him a little disheartened.

BerryTooth nodded and waited until the scent of mouse drifted over her. She turned toward where the scent was coming from, a small patch of tall grass. Stalking toward it she saw the fur of the creature and crouched down. She tensed the muscles in her hindquarters and leaped, her paws coming down on the mouse. She broke it's neck quickly and felt pride at her quick catch.

Following the scent, he opened his mouth to taste the air, tracking cautiously. It wasn't EmberClan scent, and it mingled in with the waterfall. A loner or rogue, perhaps. Stopping by some bushes, the scent stronger, with a whiff of fresh, he stopped. Could he take on a cat on his own? Reedshade disliked the idea, and deliberated for several heartbeats before pushing his head tentatively through the leaves, then encircling it until he found what appeared to be a hole beneath them. Water sprayed over his pelt, and it took effort to ignore it. His sharp eyes gazed forth as he took a pawstep into the entrance.

Marble tensed and started to push herself toward the back of her den but the back wall was thorns and she hissed in pain as she felt one come off and embed itself in her skin. Her fur stood on end as what appeared to be a tom stepped into her den. The den could hold about 4 cats but wasn't very tall and the tom's ears grazed the top.

Oblivious to Reedshade, Berrytooth, and the rogue, Sparrowheart worked carefully down the stalk of a branch. There was a squirrel in its nest and, as long as she balanced well enough, she was in perfect position to ambush it.
---
Mothpaw pointed his tail at the distance before gesturing his paw for Ashpaw to stay there. He disappeared for a few minutes before returning with a foot full of cobwebs. Slowly, he began to work them onto the injured apprentice's head.

AshPaw watched MothPaw leave sadly and then saw the wad of cobwebs in his paw as he returned. The sad feeling was still there and showed in his eyes but he smiled at MothPaw as the tom treated him.

The hiss alerted him, and his ears flattened down. "You're on EmberClan territory," the tom snarled, his fur fluffing out for intimidation. As a warrior, his first duty was to his Clan. While the idea of chasing out any cat from their home made him feel somewhat conflicted - kittypets aside, as they always got in the way - he knew he had to put on the show his fellow warriors would. Just without the immediate rush to claw their ears off. Reedshade glared at the strange cat. "You need to leave."

"I-I'm sorry. I don't have anywhere else to go though. I ran away f-from my home." The tom was intimating but was also handsome and Marble found herself looking away from him. She then winced in pain again as the thorn moved.

Reedshade hesitated. Was the stranger hurt? She didn't seem like an immediate threat. "This can't be your new home. You need to leave," he meowed calmly, pricking an ear to listen out for the other two members of his hunting patrol. "If you're caught on our territory again, our patrols will hunt you down, and they won't give you the chance to run first," he added.

Mothpaw examined Ashpaw carefully. His head wound was fixed, but he still looked kind of sad. The medicine cat didn't understand. He fixed him. To try to cheer him up a little, he booped his nose with his paw.
---
Sparrowheart was inches away from the nest. With one swift jump, she landed on it.... and ran out of tree. She came tumbling down, nest and all, but thankfully landed on her feet and stomach instead of something more fragile. The nest was squashed under her, the squirrel within stuck halfway beneath her paws, still alive. She fixed that with a bite to its head. Then she noticed her pads were a bit scraped up. It stung.

But I don't have anywhere to go! Please... I won't cause any trouble. I cover my scent and only go out at night. Please let me stay here... I have no where else to go." She started to get teary as she pleaded with the tom. She stood up to move closer but once again hissed in pain.

AshPaw's eyes widened when MothPaw booped his nose with his paw. The pads of his paws were soft on his nose and the fur between was feather soft. MothPaw's scent lingered on his nose and AshPaw felt himself heat up. It took everything in his being not to touch his nose to MothPaw's, whose face was directly in front of him.

"My Clanmates are out there now, they could find you at any moment--" he informed her, breaking off as he heard a sound in the distance. Reedshade shook his head, flicking his tail to the side. No attempt to dissuade him could work. For the good of his Clan. "By hunting on EmberClan territory, you are stealing from our Clan. If I see you again, I will chase you out myself," the warrior hissed, backing up from the tunnel. She couldn't be too hurt, he reasoned, and even if she was, there was nothing he could do. Not a medicine cat, and expecting what reaction his Clan might have on learning of it, he wouldn't take the risk. "Stay here for now," he said, more reluctantly, "but leave tonight." He slipped out, jaws open to taste the air both for prey and to listen in case the strange she-cat tried to follow him. Or worse, attacked.

Marble looked at the tom and all of a sudden she felt her world turn upside down. She had run away from a home where she was hit and thrown about. She had walked for 3 months on little rest and food until she had finally found this place... and now she had to leave? She felt her chest grow tight and suddenly she was mid panic attack. Her breathing was heavy, her eyes glazed, and she padded to and fro in her den, unable to calm down.

Mothpaw was amused, but Ashpaw didn't seem to react all that much. He tilted his head for a moment before booping Ashpaw's nose... with his own nose. He'd ought to find that funny and feel better, right?

AshPaw's mind went blank. His eyes filled with surprise and affection for the tom in front of him as the fur on his body spiked and then laid flat again as a shudder went through his body at the touch. The coltsfoot he had been carrying was sitting by one of his paws and now his empty jaw hung open slightly.

Once assured he wasn't being followed, and finding the scent of shrew, he pressed down, belly hovering above the dirt and his tail streaming out behind him. He stopped as he neared, waiting, then raced forward and pounced on it, delivering a quick killing bite to the spine. With it clutched in his mouth, he moved back nearer to the waterfall, burying it under dirt to preserve it. Reedshade looked around for Sparrowheart and Berrytooth.
