Hopspaw gave a yowl in surprise, and almost forgot what Creekheart had told her to do as she struggled under Frostpaw's weight. She quickly recalled as soon as Creekheart reiterated what he had told them to do, and with a sheathed forepaw she quickly drew her paw against Frostpaw's belly and then kicked him back with unintentionally strong force.
-----
Burrclaw crouched and waited as Cherryflower stalked and then charged the rabbit. The rabbit sped toward him rapidly, and when the large tom lunged out to pin it under his claws, it proved to be faster than him. He landed heavily on nothing but dirt as the rabbit darted off in another direction. He tried to quickly run after it, diving toward where it had disappeared into the tall grass, but he was too late. He slowed to a stop, trying to scent it out with remaining hope, but he knew it was gone. He returned to where he had waited for it, giving a low growl. "Well, that was disappointing. I should have been quicker."

Surprised by Hopspaw's strength, Frostpaw was thrown backwards and he barely was able to land on his feet. His belly ached for a heartbeat where he was kicked, but he was so impressed that he could barely notice the pain. "That was great, Hopspaw!" He shook the dust from his long pelt. "Okay, do you want to try me?"
-----
Cherryflower ran up to Burrclaw and watched as the rabbit took off. She first thought about suggesting that they search through the grass to find it, but she thought that the tom seemed irritated. She brushed her tail-tip against his shoulder, light as a feather. "That was just a really fast rabbit," she meowed. "You'll get the next one, I bet." She stretched for a moment. "At least we've got some fresh-kill. Do you want to head back to camp, or keep trying?"

(( inky thanks for being so understanding ~! <3 )) 👻videocassette👻Sablefur hissed sharply, jolting up in pain. This in turn only caused more strain on his aching muscles. He gave Raccoonstripe a glare, settling back town, tail lashing. "Don't they say your other senses are heightened after sight is lost?" he grumbled, licking his wounded tail. "Y'ought to use 'em." Adderstar approached the elders' den, dragging a hare with him. He saw the squabble unfold between the two elderly cats, and couldn't help but snort. He heard what his father had said, and frowned after setting the rabbit down at the twos' paws. "Father, please," he sighed. "Be a bit more understanding." Sablefur crinkled his nose up at Adderstar, flashing a grumpy glare. "Don't you go telling me how to act like I'm some kit, Adderface. I'm still your father for Starclan's sake!" he barked back to his son. He had accidentally used Adderstar's warrior name not out of disrespect, but elderly error--yet the old tom didn't seem to notice his mistake.

"Good job, just make sure not to hurt Frostpaw so much." Creekheart meowed with a good natured laugh. "It's good to see you have a strong kick though!"
Hopspaw's face warmed in some embarrassment, but mostly pride in the praise. "Yeah, your turn!" She meowed to Frostpaw, not being able to laugh as though she was just playing instead of training as she lunged and pushed Frostpaw to his side and then pinned him to the ground.
-----
Burrclaw sighed, his shoulders relaxing a little. Missing a catch just happened every once in a while. "You're right, it's fine." He meowed decidedly. He gave a light shrug. "Well, what do you feel like? A shrew and a mouse is good enough for me to come back to camp satisfied."

Raccoonstripe let out a low growl at Sablefur's comment, her ears pinning back defensively. She would never admit it, but she had never been one to take the time to use her senses carefully, even in her blindness. She felt relieved to hear the subject change from her to the father and son. "But face it, Sablefur. You aren't quite as sharp as you used to be." She commented.

As he was knocked to the ground and pinned by the other apprentice, Frostpaw thought again how strong Hopspaw was. He was glad she was not an enemy warrior he would meet in battle one day. Gathering his strength in his hind legs, he kicked out, careful to focus on his muscles, not his claws. He kicked the she-cat away much lighter than she had kicked him, moving his hind paws in a way that would have caused some damage had his claws been out. As he stood and shook dust from his pelt, Frostpaw thought that this practice fighting was fun, and he had a hard time imagining that they were training for potentially deadly situations someday. "How was that?" he asked Creekheart hopefully. His gaze darted to Hopspaw. "Are you okay?"
-----
"Yes, this should be plenty for now," meowed Cherryflower. She leaned down and grabbed her shrew, then began to pad away slowly towards camp, looking over her shoulder to see if Burrclaw was following. She wanted to enjoy their walk and time spent in the pretty weather, and she was in no hurry to get home.

Sablefur felt the instinct to bark something back at Raccoonstripe, but held his tongue, instead just growling crossly under his breath. "...blasted she-witch..." Adderstar rolled his eyes at his fathers immaturity. He nosed the hare forward between the two elders, in a way to change the subject. "I brought you two a meal. I don't believe the apprentices have visited yet today, DESPITE what they're supposed to be doing." He cast a stern glance at the apprentice den, seeing several young ones sitting outside socializing and sharing tongues.

(Hey Shiba! I've got a character that's been open since I joined, and I don't know how active the apprentice accounts are; should I offer Firestorm to help the elders? Or are we waiting specifically for apprentices to step in?)

Hopspaw let him kick her off, not having been hurt especially, but still buffeted enough to push her back. She sat down on her haunches and shook herself. "I'm fine! That was great!" She meowed, then she looked toward Creekheart, curious to hear his feedback.
Creekheart padded closer to the two apprentices. "That was a well aimed kick, Frostpaw. If you use your claws like that in battle, you'll have no problem fighting off your enemies." He meowed. "It looks like you two both know how to use your own strengths to your advantage, which is a great skill to have."
------
Burrclaw picked up his mouse and caught up with Cherryflower, at first wondering why she was taking such a slow pace. He gave her an unsure glance, but her contentedness made him realize that she was just enjoying being out in the meadow. He looked on to the long stretches of grass and felt a little more content himself. "It's nice." He meowed through his mouthful of mouse.

Raccoonstripe sniffed out the prey and dipped her head gratefully toward Adderstar's voice before taking a bite of the hare, savoring the fresh kill with a satisfied purr. She snorted, her ears turning in search of any sounds of the apprentices slacking on their job. "That kind of behavior would have sent us to sleep without any fresh kill. Leader shouldn't be the one feeding clanmates! I'll be sure to give them extra work grooming my pelt." She meowed.

"Heh, leave no tick uncleaned," Adderstar smirked. He gave the apprentices a glance again. "I'm especially suprised my sons haven't--" The big tabby stopped himself remembering that his youngest Birchpaw still hadn't been brought home. He frowned, voice falling. "Um..son, excuse me..." He kept a stony face despite the obvious pain in his quiet tone.
Sablefur looked confused at Adderstar, glancing from him to Raccoonstripe. "Son, I may be older than oaks, but I still know I got TWO grandsons. What're you talking about just 'son'?" It was apparent the old brown Tom's memory wasn't what it used to be.

Frostpaw purred at the warrior's praise. He stole a quick glance at his fellow apprentice, curious to see what else other battle moves she knew. "What next, Creekheart?"
-----
"Mhm," Cherryflower murmured agreement. "I think it's important for a cat to slow down every now and then, and just enjoy the world around them." She loved the familiar meadow that stretched around her, and she took a deep breath of fresh air, mixed with the scent of the shrew she carried. "When we get back to camp, I think I'll take mine to the nursery," she meowed through the shrew's fur.
-----
Firestorm pricked her ears as she heard Adderstar raise his voice towards the apprentices' den. She wasn't doing anything else, so she figured she may as well see if she can help. She wasn't too huge on volunteering to do other cats' work, but the elders may really need something. She stood, stretched her back briefly, then padded towards the leader and elders. "Good day," she greeted them all with a slight dip of her head. "Adderstar, is there anything I can do to help out around here?"

Adderstar looked up at Firestorm, glad for a deterrent from his mistake. "Yes. Tell those apprentices over there that if they haven't been out training or hunting yet today, to get their tails over here and do their clan duties," Adderstar barked, his voice clearly aggravated by the slacking youngsters.

"You have bees in your brain, Sablefur." Raccoonstripe quipped through a mouthful of hare, "Don't you remember all the fuss Birchpaw made because he didn't want to follow orders? He ran off!" She growled, her tail flicking. She huffed. "Honestly, you'd think a leader's son would have a little more respect for himself."

Creekheart paused in thought. "You know, I just thought of something." He meowed with an excited gleam in his eye, "My strength has always been speed, so you two can practice fighting a quick opponent with me. And one definite way to catch a fast enemy is to work together." He meowed, looking between the apprentices.
Hopspaw's ears perked up. "You mean Frostpaw and I get to chase you?" She meowed, laughing with excitement as well as amusement.
Creekheart laughed. "Essentially, yes."
----
Burrclaw nodded, his eyes scanning their surroundings. He hadn't found himself enjoying being out in a while. "That's a good idea," He meowed, thinking back to the new kits in the nursery now that greenleaf was upon them. He felt a small pang at the memory of his own kits and even his old mate Rivershine before they had their falling out. Now he found himself wishing he had been more involved with his now apprentice-aged kits. He shook his head, clearing the thought from his mind. "It's always nice to see new kits around these seasons."

(( I think I'll just post a starter to a random cat of mine so we're not stuck like this for 10 pages.... xDD ))
Thistledove padded out of the nursery, wanting to stretch her legs after feeling cooped up in her nest all morning. She shook out her long silky pelt, sending moss shreds fluttering to the ground. Purring with amusement at the mess that had been hiding in her fur, she sat down and began to lick at her thick pelt.
