Ashpelt dipped his head in greeting. "Hi, Bravestep!" he mewed. "How are you feeling?" Ashpelt wrapped his tail around his paws, letting out a huge yawn. His hunt had left him somewhat tired, but he didn't wish to go nap yet.

Bravestep shrugged. "I am as well as I can be, given the circumstances." She replied as she sat down next to him. "I'd love to go hunting, but with my recovery..." She stopped as she thought. "I just feel useless in the medicine cats den." She meowed with exasperation.

Bravestep shrugged. "I am as well as I can be, given the circumstances." She replied as she sat down next to him. "I'd love to go hunting, but with my recovery..." She stopped as she thought. "I just feel useless in the medicine cats den." She meowed with exasperation. Ashpelt felt a pang of sympathy for the she-cat. "Hey, you'll be back out there soon," he mewed encouragingly. Ashpelt got flashbacks to when he had learned that his leg was permanently injured. It wasn't bad enough to stop him from being a warrior, but it did set him back some. "It took me awhile to recover, but I still was able to be a warrior." The grey tabby tried to cheer Bravestep up some, it seemed like she needed it.

Bravestep cocked her head at him curiously. Could he know about my leg? she thought to herself. "I know, but I still feel so useless sitting on my tail and not out hunting when the clan needs me to." She meowed with a bit of agitation. "I know it is for my good, but my pelt is itching to get out and hunt."

Ashpelt nodded his head. He remembered being so restless when he first got his injury. "It took a couple of moons for my leg to recover somewhat, but it was never the same," he mewed, wincing as he got flashbacks. He shook his head to refocus. "You'll probably be fine though." Ashpelt meowed. "Some things just take time."

Bravestep sighed as she lowered herself onto her belly and rested her head on her paws. "I know, I just don't want to be doted over by anyone while I recover. " She meowed ruefully. "It isn't that bad, but it does get annoying." She admitted.
{Sorry for the late and short reply. Business is going nuts!}

Roosterpaw trotted into the medicine den to set the marigold in its place before slipping out again. He paused to consider the enticing smell of fresh kill from the pile before padding toward the nursery and sticking his broad head inside, "Emberfrost, are you hungry?" He meowed. Emberfrost turned around at her name. "Wha-? Oh...right..." She mewed awkwardly. "No, let the elders eat first." She told him, unused to being offered prey first. She sighed, "This is going to take some definite getting used to. It feels so odd being offered prey first and I feel guilty about it." Roosterpaw smiled. "Don't feel guilty! You have our future warriors to raise soon!" He mewed.

Sweetleaf pondered for a moment, “Rabbit. I’m starved.” She purred, brushing past him as she padded out of the confines of the medicine cat den. Creekheart slipped out after her and padded to the fresh kill pile, looking over his shoulder at her somewhat distractedly. "Rabbit it is!" He purred.

"Well when you put it like that," She teased, though she really felt odd being a queen and being merited this new respect. "I guess I'll just have to run the camp." She joked. "But I guess you are right, and I do need to eat something." She thought for a minute. Has the hunting patrol returned yet?

Roosterpaw was thinking along the same lines. "The hunting patrol hasn't come back yet, but there's a few pieces of prey in the fresh kill pile." He mewed.

"I'd rather wait until they return." She told him fondly. "That way more cats can eat since the owl is nearly gone." She meowed. "I'd feel better that way." She added with a smile. "But if you want, you can stay and talk with me a while until they return... if you have no other business to attend to of course..."

Roosterpaw nodded and squeezed himself into a spot next to Emberfrost. "I have none that I'm aware of, and if I do, well, I could technically blame you." He joked.

"It isn't that bad, but it does get annoying." She admitted. {Sorry for the late and short reply. Business is going nuts!} (No worries! I was caught in class!) "I understand," he mewed in an neutral tone. "It does get annoying, but you won't be stuck in the medicine den forever." Ashpelt remembered his days in the medicine den, he thought he would be there forever. "You'll be back out hunting and back doing warrior duties before you know it. You just got to hang in for a bit longer!" Ashpelt mewed encouragingly.

Emberfrost purred in amusement at his joke. "Well, in less then a moon, I will be to blame." She teased him. "Of course there will be little Flameshatters running around as well." She joked. "Wouldn't that be something? Four grumpy worry tails."

Roosterpaw laughed, picturing a litter of little Flameshatters. "They would all be trying to be protective over each other!" He purred in amusement.

Bravestep's ears shot up at his comments. "I know, but it is just..." She couldn't think of another word for boring and sighed. Another thought arose in her head however. "Ashpelt..." She mewed quietly. "If my paw becomes...limp, will I have to learn a new way of hunting?" She hated saying the words, but she knew if any cat knew the answer to her questions, he would. -- Emberfrost laughed at his joke. "Don't let him hear that." She teased. "He's already a hot mess of worry between me and Bravestep." She told him with mock seriousness. "He might claw your ears off for worrying him."

Roosterpaw purred with laughter and tilted his head, "That sounds just a little counter intuitive, but I'll be careful anyhow!" He mewed.

"Very." She giggled. "How is Bravestep by the way?" She asked happily of her extended kin. "Not giving you too much grief is she?" She purred.

Roosterpaw shrugged. "Not anything too bad. I can tell she is ready to get up and moving, naturally, but that just seems to be the case for most wounded warriors." He meowed thoughtfully.

Emberfrost nodded. "If I know Bravestep... she is probably about ready to claw her own ears off out of boredom." She joked half serious. "I know she is strong and brave... heh... but I am a bit concerned about her paw." She told him. "She won't know, but while the male fox had her in it's jaws, it reopened the wound and I heard a bit of a snap." She dropped her head in shame. "I should have told you sooner, but she seemed to be fine."

Roosterpaw's ears lowered with concern. "A... snap?" He echoed worriedly. "Do you think that means it was broken?" He asked, feeling unsure of his own conclusion.

"I'm not sure." She meowed with more concern. "Most cats that break something can't really walk on that paw to much because of the pain..." She mewed thoughtfully. "And she has a limp that she is trying to hide, but she is putting weight on it easy enough. " She observed as she ran through the last few times she had seen her. "Something may be broken, but I don't know." She concluded.

Roosterpaw nodded seriously. "Sweetleaf will know." He determined with a look of admiration for his mentor. "I will tell her about it, and she can check on Bravestep's paw to make sure it's healing okay."

Emberfrost nodded her thanks. "That's a relief." She meowed as she felt another pang in her belly. She grimaced, but otherwise gave no sign of pain. "And what of Amberpaw?" She meowed. "Will she be okay? Will that mouse brain still be able to become an apprentice wwth her leg in the condition it is in?"

Roosterpaw hesitated, and he tucked his paws underneath himself as he looked at the ground. "I'm honestly not sure... I really hope so." He mewed quietly.

Emberfrost lowered her head as well. "I don't envy her life because Bravestrp put hers on the line to save her, but Great Starclan she was mouse brained." She muttered. "I know she was bored from staying in camp for ages, but even you had the common sense to stay here."

Roosterpaw nodded solemnly. "No one deserves to have such an injury just for a mouse brained mistake." He sighed, "I really hope she gets a second chance at things."
