"I'm just glad it feels like it-" Hazelpaw was cut off by Bravestep's sudden burst of pain, worrying her. "What all has Sweetleaf done for it?" she asked, tipping her head.

“Good! It’s been good.” Sweetleaf purred, “They’re finally beginning to grow again. Looks like we’ve almost made it through leafbare without major sickness.” She mewed sweetly, touching the tom’s shoulder with her striped tail. Creekheart felt a shiver run up his spine at her gesture, but he quickly reminded himself that Sweetleaf was just being friendly. "That's because we have you!" He meowed warmly, before looking somewhat mortified at himself. "- Or, I mean..." He tried to backtrack, but he couldn't think of how. Sweetleaf purred in laughter as she nudged the last bite of mouse towards Creekheart, “I try my best.” The pretty She-cat purred, dipping her head.

"Applied Horsetail and Chervil to it to dry up the blood and protect it from infection." Bravestep replied to her apprentice. "I think there is something else wrong, but I think I'll be fine." She assured her apprentice. "Want to go do some hunting?"

Hazelpaw turned over her mentor's words. "Well, if you're sure you can do it with your leg, of course I want to go! I haven't been doing much hunting lately, so I don't know how well I'll do, though."

"Don't worry." Bravestep meowed. "We can practice you hunting, and if we return with prey good, if not, I don't think the clan will suffer too much." She meowed looking at the freshkill pile fairly full. "Does that sound fair?"

Hazelpaw nodded and let a smile grace her complexion. "That sounds good," she rose to her paws after finishing her vole.

"Good." She meowed. She finished her mouse and got to her paws, feeling the twinge in her paw again momentarily before it disappeared. "Where would you like to try hunting?" She asked her apprentice.

"Do you want to try the mouse grove? We can try to find prey on the way there, too," Hazelpaw stretched.

Creekheart relaxed a little at the sound of her laughter, trying to think of other ways to get her to laugh in the near future. He smiled and nodded. "That's all we could ask for!" He meowed, dipping his head politely in thanks for the last of the mouse before finishing it.

"Do you want to try the mouse grove? We can try to find prey on the way there, too," Hazelpaw stretched. "That sounds like a great idea." She mewed, gesturing to Emberfrost. "Would you like to join us?" She asked. She would like to have another warrior to keep an eye out for foxes, just to be safe. "We could use another set of eyes." -- Hearing her name, Emberfrost walked over. "I have nothing better to do. All the other patrols have already left."

Hazelpaw shook her fur out, ready to leave. "Lead the way!" She purred, excited to get more training in. {Sorry again. Things keep popong up.} Bravestep led the way as Emberfrost took the back, keeping her mouth slightly open to keep scents flowing so she would have early detection of any dangers. "Now," Bravestep meowed. "What can you scent she asked Hazelpaw?"

Hazelpaw lifted her muzzle and slightly opened her mouth, sniffing the air and closing her eyes in an attempt to concentrate. "I can scent.." She paused and exhaled, disappointed. "Nothing."

Bravestep smiled. "That is good." She meowed. "Do you know why?" she posed the question, wanting her to use her intellect. "Why would there be no prey this close to camp?"

Hazelpaw's ears pricked up a little bit in engagement. "Because there are too many cats, not enough places to hide, and too many noises." She responded after a brief moment of silence.

Bravestep nodded in approval at her apprentices quick wit. "Exactly." She meowed in confirmation. "As we pad along, I want you to scent for two things. Prey and predator." She meowed wanting to teach her apprentice the importance of always being alert.

"Okay," Hazelpaw responded, focusing on the smells around her. After a short while of walking, she smelled something; Nothing out of the ordinary, but probably prey. "I smell something," she said quietly, trying to figure out what it was. "I think it's a mouse or a vole?"

Stormfeather finished up her meal of mouse and got up. Her body dipped into a stretch as she yawned, and when she got back up, she noticed Sheephettle a few foxlengths away. Bored, she padded up to the tom and sat besides him. She chirped, "Hey Sheephettle! What's up?" Her tail wrapped around her leg and one of her white paws rose to her mouth. The she-cat quickly licked her paw and stroked her head, grooming herself. Sheepnettle shook himself, getting the sleep out of his head and fur. He raised his tail in greeting as Stormfeather came up to him. "Not much. I was thinking of going out on a hunting patrol here soon. Do you want to join me?" Few things helped him wake up and get ready quite like hunting. And he enjoyed doing so with company.

(Yeah!) Roosterpaw let out an excited meow as he followed after Steampaw. Steampaw lead her way through the forest, ears pricked, mouth open. Soon she detected the small, quick pulse of a mouse's heart, and spotted it knawing at a tree root. "Watch this!" She whispered to Roosterpaw as he slid up behind her. She angled her body rigidly with nearly-perfect aim, and jumped, only disturbing a small rustle of sticks.
