This is a bit overdue, but I wanted to share this with you all. These are a few photos from my unicorn shoot that I did last month. I'm really getting into modeling, and I have a few plans for future shoots. So that's that. Hope ya'll like. |

none of my ancestors were here prior to 1904 smh in fact both of my mom's parents are foreign born
well i read one called "a temptation of the angels". i went to the library because i thought they had a book i wanted but it wasn't in, so i walked through the YA section and the cover caught my eye. blurb sounded interesting. something about a girl's parents dying mysteriously and finding out she's a descendant of angels, meant to protect humanity (heretical but whatever). the back said "an immortal destiny. a forbidden love. an impossible choice."
in reality it was way more boring than that quote made it seem. in fact, i can't even think of what the "impossible choice" was supposed to be? maybe referring to the lackluster love triangle? idk
the book was forgettable. the author had this habit of drawing out descriptions too long during tense scenes, which made me impatient to get to the action so i ended up skimming quite a lot. the climax wasn't built up well. in fact, the plot was kinda nonexistent. the MC just kinda wandered around wherever the two brothers told her to go, got some exposition, fell in love in 1 week, snuck into a house, more exposition, team up with super hot bad boy anti-hero who switched sides because she asked, bad guy dies. the end. that's literally it. so much seemed like filler or just dull.
the second book was called The Glittering Court and i saw it at the airport book store, again thought the blurb was interesting so i gave it a try at the library. the first 40% was interesting. basically, the setting was a thinly veiled ripoff of 1800s britain and the colonies. premise was there was a lack of cultured woman over there for wealthy merchants and landlords to marry, so one business guy trained common girls to act almost like noblewoman and then brought them oversees to essentially sell them to men who wanted them as wife to add to their reputation.
like i said the first chunk was good. but i found the MC kinda annoying. and of course there's an insta-love with the business guy's son. the second 20% was just kinda forgettable. the love interest was supposed to have a "dark secret" which was rather lame (he was a heretic!! oooo!! who cares). the last 40% was honestly just so boring. i didnt care about the main ship at all, and the story went from prestigious courts and ballrooms to literal pioneer frontierland about gold digging. wtf. not what i signed up for.
im gonna read the selection next, which is supposed to be somewhat similar of a concept. but will probably be disappointed there too. i eagerly seek any story that's set in royal/noble courts because there's so much potential for espionage, political intrigue, etc. and the totally wild concept of exploring an arranged marriage that actually works out. but i keep being disappointed. too high of expectations, i guess. it usually devolves into petty catfighting, fashion shows, and lackluster romances.
right now im trying to read Vampire Academy which is by the same author, but her first series, and really highly rated and recommended by a lot of people.
and it's the stupidest book i've ever read.
it's so clearly fashioned for the same people who enjoyed twilight. like, i never understood the vampire phase thing, but i've never been turned-off by the idea either so long as it's well written. i rather enjoy watching the Originals (TVD was icky) and Buffy was a masterpiece. both proof that vampire-centric stories don't have to be cringey. but boy does this book fit that stereotype.
the premise is that there's two types of vampires, moroi and strigoi, one mortal and one immortal (respectively). the strigoi get stronger by eating and killing the moroi, so they have guardians called dhampri which are half human and half moroi. the youth attend a school together to learn to defend themselves and each other. kind interesting premise, and it got good reviews (like 5 stars) so i thought why not.
i'm 30% through this book and so far there's no plot. the writing style is fine but the actual content is just. it's like being sucked into a 13 yro girls high school fanfiction. the MC, a dhampri, fancies herself as super BAMF, cool, sexy, witty #rebel character that everyone for some reason is drawn to. when in reality she's just a mega brat. literally punches anyone who disagrees with her. constantly remarks on how attractive she is. thinks her comebacks are clever and all the other characters act like it. disrespects all authority. supposed to be 17, acts 12. on top of it she's supposed to end up romancing with her 24 yro mentor and im just????
pretty sure this whole story is just a projection of what the author wishes she was like in high school.i dont know if i can finish it. it might be the first book i've ever willingly started that claims the title as the first DNF of my history.
anyways yeah im done
on a brighter note, the library finally has dragonwatch in so i'll be able to read that before i go <3

I went to this one asking if she'd be interested because she'd previously expressed interest in doing a creative shoot, and she said that I was exactly who she was looking for. We've already talked about more cosplay shoots, so that's gonna be fun.
