JW is one of the scarier cults that somehow made it under the term Christianity. Right up there with SDA. Gothardism is the scariest of all.
We've had JWs knock on our door once, but I was home alone and didn't want to answer. So they left a pamphlet behind. Nothing in it said anything about Christ, just ambiguous pictures of happy people and talk of "salvation" without much explanation of what that entitled. What's SDA? Or Gothardism? Also, from what I know, JW people believe that Jesus was just an angel, I looked it up. SDA is Seventh Day Adventist. Similar to JW where they've had like thirty predictions of the end of the world and all of them have, obviously, turned out to be wrong. But they're more Christian than JWs as they actually prescribed to scripture and such. They just focus on rapture a lot. They also have a lot of peculiar doctrines regarding salvation (like the Investigative Judgement, which I was going to explain but I can't make head nor tails of it).
Gothardism is a particular form of Christian Patriarchy. You know how on tumblr you see those graphics passed around of scripture taken out of context to "highlight" how Christians believe in a cruel patriarchy? Well, that's basically what Bill Gothard did, except he thought it was a great idea. It's a whacked-out fundie quiverfull cult: the Duggars (as in the tv show) are part of a very similar cult. Gothardism is freaking terrifying. It's like every Christian's worst nightmare of how our faith could be twisted. There's a whole website called recoveringgrace.org devoted to helping people who have escaped it. If you're morbidly curious, look it up.

It's really hard to look stuff up on this tablet because it acts up a lot.

hey y'all i'm doing a pilgrimage for good friday along with a big group of people, so some prayers that it all goes well and we don't get rained on would be lovely!
it's a 9 mile trek from downtown to the Marian shrine, with stations of the cross along the way. it's supposed to take over five hours and i'd hate to be rained on!

tori: yeah usually i can get along fine with atheists/agnostics but then you get the handful that are the embodiment of brony anime-loving neckbeards *slightly offended because of the brony anime-loving comment* I'm just kidding, those types of atheists just drive me absolutely bonkers. #same Reminds me... I need to start up Attack on Titan S2.

Years ago when my brother was still a Christian, Jehovah's witnesses knocked on our door. He was home alone and he invited them inside, and pretty much shot them down completely by bringing the Bible out and quoting scriptures from it himself. They never came back lol just a few months ago we had the first JW come in like, five years. Wasn't the same ones though (the ones my brother chased away used to come monthly) My brother is not Christian anymore though... I think he's agnostic, he does believe in a higher power, but he doesn't necessarily believe it's the Christian God. Same thing happened to my grandfather a while back. Jehovah Witnesses knocked on our door and he invited them in. They immediately left when he brought out his bible.

@jess: we had a seder meal a few weeks ago on our school retreat. how'd it go?
okay so my pilgrimage went well except for the part where i basically died my legs were legit in so much pain that i couldn't stand. at first i tried during the veneration of the cross liturgy that followed, but i started getting heart palpitations and nausea which i figured wasn't a good sign and sat down. that's what happens when you make a 9 mile trek when you are the most physically unfit person on earth i'd only do this for jesus man smh besides the part when i was in pain, it was a neat experience. we did stations of the cross along the way, with actors as Christ, the soldiers, the women, etc. the Jesus actors actually carried a wooden cross the whole length (although i think they switched hands a few times).
also, i'm super excited for today!!! my sister-in-law is being initiated into the Church after a year of RCIA study. she's so excited, and so am I. <3

shadow, that sounds so amazing, i wish i could have seen it! especially the 9 mile trek. that sounded FUN c; and congrats to your sister-in-law!!! i'll send prayers you all's way!!
also as for the JW thing, we had some come by once when we were super little and my mom told them simply "no thank you, we're catholic, but can i get you some water?" and then sent them on their way with the water and they were super nice and always waved to us when they saw us on the roads and like idk what happened to them but i don't see them anymore and i kinda miss them :c

Little late, but Happy Easter!
I saw someone get baptized on Holy Saturday night. She was around my age and still scared, poor thing. She had to literally get in the water. Still, she's a member of the Catholic Church now.

I was baptised, but my brother was never. Things were crazy when he was born those 7 years ago. Probably the reason why he's a little troublemaker. Bad things actually happened around the time he was born. But as my dad tells me, I'm a little angel 😇. 👼🏻

Sciencetists are looking at the Shroud of Turnin which is rumoured to be Jesus burial place. Reminds me of a book I read part of once. They find living cells on the Shroud of Turin and make a clone from them, but the clone turns out to be the Antichrist. I doubt they'll find living cells (in the book, they were able to survive for 2,000+ years because of Jesus' divinity, but that was a plot device), but if they find DNA, it'll have staggering implications. Apparently part of the investigation is to see if Jesus has any living descendants? Good look with that, guys. Crazy stuff. We don't know for sure that the Shroud was really Jesus', though.
